Chapter One Hundred Forty-Eight

The Love That Binds

A/N – Well as I predicted, I got so into the Chase debacle it took the entire chapter. As I got into it several additional topics came to mind and before I knew it I was at my word count limit, which generally runs about the mid 6000's. It was a lot of fun in a sadistic way finally putting him where he belongs. I will spend a little time in the next chapter putting a wrap on it. As promised, this chapter will bring a surprise that will create an even deeper bond between two of our characters and an expected another occasion that will continue to grow the bond of this amazing family. There is so much to look forward to as we close out the summer, business growth, family growth and relationship growth. This storyline will, I hope bring joy to you all. I am really excited about putting the words together and as you know I will write where my pen takes me. I can't wait to hear what you think, so don't hesitate to let me know. It was a beautiful August morning, a little cooler than normal which was welcomed. The buzz from the Chase Powers incident had died down. A trial date was set for mid-September and the family members who needed to testify were ready to go. Ty and Amy purposely keep things in check, focusing themselves and their kids to look forward. There was a final qualifier for Annie and Maddie for the Fall Finale and both of them had plenty of points. Lyndy and Wyatt's relationship was stronger than ever and everyone around them noticed it. Addie was having a lot of fun as she was spending more and more time tinkering on the different vehicles on the farm and especially enjoyed when her dad had her help him on the Norton and Old Blue. They had a special bond when it came to all things mechanical that was just thiers. Annie and Addie were also spending a lot of time with their little four couple group as Desi and Jeremy spent a lot of time helping at the ranch as well as Camilla, Troy, Bella and Maya. They had a lot of trips to the mall and a movie now and then. Maddie as always was stuck to Katie like glue. Gwen and Sylvia also tagged along with her making sure that the soon to be mother was taken care of, comfortable and happy. At times, Clay had to temper their attention but secretly, Katie loved it. JT, Trent and the gang of boys were having a great time on the Ranch and fishing with GG, Max and Tim. Jack and Tim had actually starting teaching them how to rope and their progress was steady but slow. Jack was very patient and Tim not so much. Lilly was doing well but still had days were rest was important. When those days were needed, JT and the other Borden kids were there for her making sure she had company. Lisa and Lou were spending a lot of time on all of the movement within the company and preparing for a Board meeting in late August to detail the plans moving forward. With the merger with Briar Ridge and upcoming land purchase, some changes would be coming their way, all of them being positive. They brought Jack and Max in as well so Max could begin the legal processes needed to move forward. They were having lunch one day and Jack smiled, "You know, I never would have thought that we would be talking about this but I am sure that we will be leaving the kids with quite an operation." Lisa smiled and Lou smiled hugging him, "Oh Grandpa Ty, Amy and some of the others aren't kids anymore." He laughed, "Lou, when you are almost 90, everyone is a kid." The incident with Chase brought Amy and Ty even closer. He was so proud of her and how she handled herself under so much stress. On night they were lying in bed recovering from some love making and he smiled, "Amy I still can't believe you held it together when we busted that loser. I have never been so proud to be your husband and I can't lie, so happy to see him go down. You will always be my Miracle Girl." She giggled, leaning into him, "Ty, every day I wake up with you and then spend time with our kids, I am overwhelmed with the fact that all of you are a part of my life. It is almost unfair that one person can be so happy and fulfilled. I love you all so much." He smiled, "Speaking of fulfilled, ready for round two." She smiled the smile only meant for him rolling on top of him, beginning her onslaught of kisses.

The Miracle Ranch and the business in general was moving smoothly through each day. One day the round pens were all full of activity as Amy, Lyndy, Haley, Ellory, Annie and Wyatt were all busy with horses. They had a spike in clients since the debacle of a clinic and from the overall notoriety the company was getting. Lisa, Amy, Ty and Lou were constantly getting calls from news agencies, training facilities and the general public inquiring about what they did. The Equine Center and both clinics were very busy and the vet team was dealing with more and more veterinary needs. The university students doing their clinicals were experiencing things that no other place could provide them and every student listed it as their first choice. The youth program was also prospering as like the clinical process, Clint had kids lined up to be a part of it. Everything was running at the max but smoothly. They had definitely hit a groove but all felt that the need to expand was a necessity. One day, JT and Trent were watching his mother work with an extremely dangerous horse and Lyndy was in the round pen helping her for an extra set of eyes. He could tell the people standing next to him were the owners by the looks of concern and worry. He smiled and got their attention, "Are you the owners of that horse." The woman smiled nervously, "Yes we are and who are you?" He spoke proudly, "I am Jackson Tyler Borden and that is my mom and sister. Don't worry they will help your horse, I guarantee it." She smiled as they continued watching. JT continued, "How did you find out about our place." She laughed, "I was at that exciting clinic that kind of turned into an interesting event. That guy with your mom was a real jerk. Watching her handle his behavior sold us on the spot. We just wish we could have seen her finish her session, she is amazing." He smiled and shook his head in agreement, but an idea hit him that he wanted to talk to her about later. The group continued to watch as the horse was definitely a challenge. Ty walked over as well noticing a crowd growing and stood between JT and the owners. He laughed, "I hope our little man isn't bothering you too much, he is a fan of his mom for sure." The woman smiled, "Well Dr. Borden, he definitely is, we were just talking about it. We have to admit, she is something else. Jasper has really had some problems after the accident and she is really doing well." Ty smiled, "Well I came over to tell you Dr. Weber and I did a complete evaluation and he is definitely 100% sound physically so now it's up to Amy and my daughter." He smiled so proudly as they continued to watch them work together. It had been well over an hour and Amy had continued to lunge him with Lyndy by her side. With the uncertainty of the horse, Amy needed Lyndy to be there for an extra set of eyes. She noticed that the horse continued to look at her daughter as he pranced in circles, changing direction when prompted to. She whispered something to her and they changed places. Ty smiled and whispered to the owners, "Watch this." Within 10 minutes Lyndy felt the horse was ready. Amy silently moved to the rail by her husband as he grabbed her arm. Lyndy calmed the horse down and turned away. After a few seconds the horse casually followed her, nuzzling her shoulder as Lyndy smile and greeted him. She walked over to the owners, "Jasper will be fine. We will work with him a bit more but before you leave I want to bring you into the process as well. I promise you that you will have a friend for life." The owners were in tears as the women smiled and whispered, "It looks like we have two Miracle Girls now."

At dinner that night the conversation centered around everyone's day, especially the amazing job that Amy and Lyndy had done with Jasper. Annie gloated, "Man Lyndy, everyone is talking about what you and mom did today. And are calling you the next Miraclle Girl." Lyndy blushed as Wyatt grabbed her hand under the table. "Shush you, it was no different than what the others do, it just seemed the horse was connected to me. Mom did most of the work." Maddie huffed, "Whatever girl, you rocked it, everyone was talking about it." Ty and Amy smiled as the banter continued but noticed along with Wyatt that JT was a little subdued. He looked over and patted his arm, "Hey buddy what's up?" He smiled meekly, "Well I was thinking. I was talking to the owners of that horse mom and Lynnie were working on. I told her you guys were awesome and she agreed." Lyndy reach over and kissed his cheek as he continued. "But mom she said she wished that you they could have seen you finish the clinic, you know before all that stuff with that mean man. Maybe you should have a clinic for all of the people that were there, it seems unfair that they didn't get to see what you do. And maybe Lyndy can help, like a Borden family clinic." Amy smiled along with the rest of the family, "Honey that is an awesome idea. I am going to call the promoter and offer to do it for free and see if the arena will let us do it there. And I also agree it should be a Borden Family clinic so all of you will be involved." Everyone was excited and looking forward to it. Amy and Ty made their rounds making sure they thanked JT for his great idea. As the approached Lyndy's room they heard some whispering and giggling. Amy knocked and her some shuffling and a come on in from Lyndy. As they walked in they found them flushed a bit and smiley. Ty asked if everything was Ok and Wyatt answered, "We were just talking about today and how amazing Lyndy was." Amy smiled, "Well you were sweetie but time to call it a night, good night you two." As they walked out Wyatt grabbed her and continued their passionate kiss that was interrupted. They were finding it more and more difficult to keep their hands off each other and after a few minutes they broke apart for a good night kiss and Wyatt headed to his room. Inside their bedroom Ty listened until he heard his door close looking at Amy, "Seems we have to keep an eye those two, when I looked at Wyatt I saw me when we were young. And well, we know how that turned out, you couldn't resist the Borden charm and succumbed to my hotness." She rolled her eyes, "Whatever." She stood up and dropped her robe, "I think you couldn't resist this." His mouth fell open and he hugged her scantily clad body tightly. "God, you are beautiful." Their embrace turned into a deep kiss as they moved to the bed discarding whatever they had on. The rest of their night would be full of love making and foreplay, giggling and moaning a lot. Their bond was as strong as ever, and as each of them recovered they realized how in love they both were.

The next morning, Amy contacted the promoter to discuss having a redo clinic since the last one kind of went south. He was ecstatic and asked if they could do two of them, since there were clinics on Saturday and Sunday. Amy said that would be fine but she needed to get with Lyndy and the rest of the family to make sure that worked. The promoter wanted to do it soon but Amy said it would have to wait until late September with a baby coming soon, school starting and a lot of birthdays. He agreed and said he would get back to her with some dates. He made sure to tell her how amazing it was and that he would make sure the press knew all about it. Amy laughed, "Well it was my 4 year old son's idea and as far as the press goes, that is up to you. We are doing it for the folks that missed out." He understood and committed to get with her by the end of the week. The rest of the family remained busy with work and play. One day while Lyndy was working with a horse, Jack showed up and stood next to Amy seeing Lyndy at work. He smiled, "She is something, like her mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandfather." Amy leaned into his side noticing his emotions. "Grandpa, are you Ok?" He smiled, "I am great but I have a favor to ask you and you can tell Ty but keep it to yourselves." Now really interested, she move her complete focus to him. "Amy, while I was rooting in the cellar at Heartland I found some boxes of your Grandma Lyndy's stuff. I want to go through it with Lyndy and I have something I want to give her. That's all I will say for now but it means a lot to me and I know my Lyndy would want her to have it." Amy smiled seeing his concern and how serious he was." She smiled and hugged him. "I understand and I am sure she will cherish whatever it is. I'll let her decide if she wants to tell Ty and I." He smiled as they went back to watching her. When she finished he called her over and Wyatt took the horse for her. "Hey there girl, let's go for a walk." Lyndy loved her GG almost as much as her own father. When she was young she spent a lot of time with Lisa and him and he always had her doing fun things like fishing and practicing roping. She remembered how she giggled when he use to roped her and she acted like a horse. She felt lucky to have him in her life and especially since friends and especially Wyatt didn't have the same thing. She was really happy since Jack also took a special interest in Wyatt, making sure he got some of his wisdom and guidance. They walked quietly to one of the benches behind the barn. She held his hand and as they sat down he spoke quietly, "Honey I have something back at Heartland that I want to share with just you. Are you busy this afternoon and can you come visit?" She smiled a little concerned, "GG are you Ok, you seem so serious." He smiled, "Just like your mother. I am good, I just want to show you something I found and it is only for you. Your mom knows and she will tell your dad. And I know you will tell Wyatt and that's Ok to. He is a fine young man." She smiled and kissed his cheek blushing a little, "I will be there, since Wyatt and I are having lunch." He laughed, "Well we don't want to miss that do we? Lyndy, the two of you are so much like your mom and dad and they turned out alright. Just remember, no secrets and respect each other and you will be fine. See you after lunch." They stood up and hugged tightly as Jack whispered, "I love you Lyndy Marion Borden." She smiled as a tear came to her eye.

Lyndy was distracted the rest of the morning and at lunch with Wyatt she was quiet, although she did mention her conversation with her GG and that she would be heading over there. He offered to drive her but she decided to take Sundance so he could visit with the Heartland horses. As they finished he took her hand, "Lyndy your GG loves you and you are named after two very important people in his life. I am sure everything is Ok and it will be fun hanging, just the two of you." She smiled and kissed his cheek, "Thanks Wyatt, you always make me feel good." They went off to work with their horses smiling and looking back at each other as they walked away. Maddie saw the look and she yelled, "Good lord you two, you are really weird." Lyndy stuck her tongue out at her and went on her way happily in love. She took a little longer than expected so on the ride to Heartland, she had Sundance pick up the pace. Even though she no longer competed she jumped a few logs on the way as she loved riding him. As they came over a small ridge, Heartland came into view and she smiled as her hair blew in the wind as she approached the ranch house. Jack and Lisa were waiting to greet her as he tearily put his arm around his wife's shoulder, "If I didn't know any better I would think Amy or Marion were riding up to the house." Lyndy dismounted and went to hug them both. "Sorry I am a little late, the horse I was working with wasn't cooperating. Lisa laughed, "Hmm, we have never heard that before. Let me take Sundance to the back pasture so he can hang out and you two can get to it." They both smiled as Jack and Lyndy walked into the house. They got drinks and Jack led her to the family dinner table. Lyndy smiled referring to several very old boxes on it. "Wow grandpa, those are some old boxes." He laughed, "Well I am old you know." She giggled, "GG, no you aren't. Caleb says you are as tough as a bear and mean as a bronc. So what's in the boxes?" Jack smiled, "Well I was in the cellar looking around and found these boxes under a lot of old junk. When my Lyndy died I took a lot of her personal things and packed them away and kept them in my room. Over the years they made it to the cellar and I had almost forgotten them. Honey, I really miss your GG Lyndy but it was time to move past her death but I never wanted these things to disappear. So I have been looking for them and here they are." Lyndy was getting a little choked up but asked him a question. "GG what is in the boxes?" He smiled, "Well a lot of things, like her childhood teddy bear, several sweaters her mom made for her, yearbooks from high school, some buckles she won when she was a barrel racer and roper and a copy of our wedding invitation." He laid everything out for her to look at and she was amazed at all the things he had saved. Lyndy laughed holding up a coffee cup. "Really GG a World's Greatest Wife mug, that's kind of cheesy." He huffed, "She used that cup for a long time." She noticed lot of handwritten music and other letters from her mom, and sisters. She also found a bundle from him and started to open them but Jack stopped her. "Honey those are just for me if that's OK with you." She smiled understanding kissing his cheek. "So, why do you want me to see this stuff? Well there are two reasons, the first being easy and the second a little more personal." She looked at him confidentially, "Let's do the easy one first."

He laughed and they both started sorting things out. "So, I want to give this stuff to you mom, aunt, cousins and siblings. I need your help deciding who gets what. I have a few things that are for your mom and Lou but the rest we can decide together." She looked at him again wondering why her but went with it. Over the next hour or so they started to sort through stuff and talking through who got what and the things he wanted to keep. They were laughing and Jack told stories about every piece. He wanted Amy to have the teddy bear because when she was a baby it was the one thing that would settle her. She joked that he should give Lisa the coffee mug since anyone that marries him deserves it. There were several pieces of jewelry he wanted to give Lou and there was enough buckles for everyone, even Wyatt. He also wanted to give her and her mom the music and told her they had to finish the scores and sing them for everybody. Lyndy found a cool picture of the two of them at the fishing cabin holding up a stringer of fish. The looked at each other and said JT at the same time. There was also several pictures of Lyndy full of grease working on a couple of trucks and a tactor. Jack smiled, "Lyndy knew her way around an engine for sure. These go to Addie." There was an entire set of Lyndy on several horses that she had during her life and they thought that Katie, Georgie and Addie would love them. Lyndy laughed when she pulled out a list of things that she had to do to get ready for her wedding. It was pretty detailed. Lyndy smiled and simply said, "Maddie." They finally finished sorting things out and putting them in smaller boxes and bags, even having a few things for her dad. He hesitated and spoke softly, "Well I know you have the music with your mom but I have one more thing just for you. It is very special and right before my Lyndy passed she told me to give this to Amy's first born daughter. It's like she knew you would be named Lyndy and made it clear that I give it to you privately." Lyndy was on the edge of her seat anticipating what it was. He reached under the table and pulled two leather bound binders that were on a chair. Jack was finding it difficult to talk and Lyndy became alarmed, "GG, what's wrong, are you sick? Why are you wanting to give this all away?" He composed himself and smiled at his amazing and caring great-granddaughter. "I am fine and I want these memories to stay in the family so the best way to do that is by sharing it with the people I love the most in the world." They sat silently for a minute and he continued, "Honey, these are Lyndy's diaries. One goes from when she was little until the day we got married. The other is from that day up until she passed. These were her most private and personal treasures and no one has ever read them. Lyndy she wanted you to read them and keep them for you to pass on. Like your mom, grandma, cousin Katie and my father in law Thomas, she had the gift. And I am sure when you have children, that will be passed on as well. I need you to take these and when you are ready, read them. This contains her most personal thoughts and she was adamant that it was only meant for you. Like I said, I don't know how she knew but she was sure that you were the one to have them passed on to. And I think you can share that you have them with your mom and dad along with Wyatt but maybe hold off on the others. Ok I am rambling, what are you thinking right now honey?" Lyndy's eyes were welling up as she was trying to comprehend what her GG had said. She had a close bond with him but this was taking their relationship to another level of love and caring. She finally responded, "GG, I am honored and completely overwhelmed with this. I will cherish these for the rest of my life and one day pass it on to the next Miracle Girl" She hugged him tightly, not releasing the books. GG, I have heard you and others talk about her, what we she like." Jack took the next 20 minutes describing his first true love. He told her things he had never told anyone else and Lyndy sat speechless watching the love in his eyes as he spoke. When he finished he hugged her again and Lisa came in with drinks. She smiled, I think you two need some lemonade." They both smiled and took a sip. Lyndy realize she would remember this day forever and pass the story to her kids, grandkids and god willing great grandkids. Lyndy Bartlett would never be forgotten.

She said goodbye to GG and Lisa. Jack told her to tell everyone that he would come by tomorrow for lunch with the Borden Family to hand out all the things they went through. Lisa said she would talk to her mom about it. Lyndy didn't even remember the ride home as she kept feeling the saddle bags where she had put her precious cargo. She cantered up to the barn and Wyatt saw her coming. He helped her off her horse and smiled, "I got him babe." She lunged at him for a deep embrace, startling him a bit. Her eyes were misty as she thanked him and went to empty her saddle bags and head to her room. He knew when she was ready, she would talk about her afternoon but respected her enough not to push. Once was in the house so she found a small box, placing the diaries in it and slid them under her bed. She needed some time before she took them out to read. She sat on the end of the bed gathering herself when she heard a little voice in her doorway. JT smiled, "Hi Lyndy, did you have fun with GG?" She smiled and pulled him in for a hug and kiss on his cheek. "It was fun little man, and tomorrow, GG and Lisa are coming over for lunch and have some stuff for all of us." His eyes grew wide and before he could say anymore, "But you have to wait, I am not spilling the beans." They giggled and headed back to the barn. Dinner was lively as usual as everyone talked about their day. Ty and Amy noticed that Lyndy was a little quiet, so Ty spoke up. "Hey honey, how was your afternoon with GG, I hear Lisa and him are coming to lunch tomorrow." "She smiled, It was really nice, I helped him clean up some stuff and we just kind of hung out. We are so lucky to have him in our life. He is excited for our family lunch tomorrow." Amy smiled, "Yea, Lisa called me, Lou, Katie and Georgie are coming too. He says he has something for us." They all looked at Lyndy to see if she knew anything but she just smiled and continued eating. After dinner and cleaning up the family went out to settle the horses in for the night. They were all tired so everyone planned to go to bed early. Wyatt found a still quiet girlfriend when he went to say goodnight. She hugged him tightly and kissed him. She yawned and hugged him one more time before he left. Ty and Amy were surprised when they came to her room and saw her already sleeping. They went to their room and read each other's minds as Amy whispered, "Well I am sure she will tell me eventually but something special happened today with her and Grandpa. Did you see her expression when she talked about her time with him. I have never seen so much love in her eyes. Kind of the look I see in your eyes when you talk about him." He tickled her, "And your eyes too." She giggled, returning his tickle and whispered sexily, "Kind of the way we look at each other too. I really love you right now and kind of want to attack your body." He smiled, "My body is all yours." She pushed him on the bed as clothes flew off and foreplay began. Their night would go on for a while longer.

Lyndy had a restless night as she kept looking under her bed to look at the box stored there. On one hand she was excited to read them but on the other she was nervous since many of the comments may even be too personal for her to see. But mostly she was overwhelmed with the afternoon she spent with her GG. She loved him so much and to think he felt driven to share her GG Lyndy's personal stuff with her was more than she could comprehend. She thought of her and what she was like. Her mom was very little when she passed, in fact Lou had told her that the last thing she did before she passed was hold her in her chair and rock her to sleep for her nap. Lou said she was so weak but found the strength to spend time with her just hours before she passed holding her GG's hand. For Lyndy it was a love story that was perfect and one she had hoped she would have someday. And with Wyatt, she felt more and more that he was the person she wanted to build a perfect life with. She almost felt as if the person she was named after was silently driving her to reach her goals. She finally fell asleep and her alarmed startled her a bit in the morning. She stretched and confidently reached under the bed, sat up and starting reading the first diary. She laughed reading the opening as Lyndy stated her intentions and saw a hand drawing of a sunflower, which was her favorite. Her first line read, "Hello I am Lyndy Louise Payne, I am 8 years old and this is my diary. I really don't know why I am doing this but I thought I should start writing down things about my life. Who knows, I may do something cool and if so I want to make sure my husband and kids know about it. I have also felt the need to do this for someone special, down the road, who will have a connection to me. So her goes nothing." The rest of the family got up and headed down to breakfast. JT asked, "Should I go get Lyndy Mommy?" Wyatt laughed, "Hey buddy let her sleep a bit, I heard her up several times last night. I think her time with grandpa wore her out." He smiled and Maddie spoke up, "Yea, I can't wait to see what lunch with him is about today, is he ok?" Ty smiled, I am sure he if fine, maybe he just wants to see all of you goofballs." After some joking they finished and cleaned up. The kids went out to the barn and Ty asked Wyatt for some help moving some things in the clinic. Amy stayed behind and when Ty left she kissed his cheek and smiled and he knew she was going to see their oldest. Amy walked up to her door and before she knocked she heard some soft whimpers from inside. She hesitated and gently knocked on the door, "Honey, can I come in?" She heard a soft, "Yes mom." Amy went in and gently closed the door. Lyndy was still in her pajamas sitting up with a beautiful leather bound binder in her lap. Lyndy looked up with tears in her eyes and Amy was immediately concerned and went to slide in nest to her. They sat quietly as Lyndy leaned into her mom sighing deeply. "Mom, I really need to tell you about my afternoon with GG. He said it was Ok to talk to you and dad and even Wyatt, but it was one of the most amazing times I have ever had with him. He assured me several times that he was fine since I asked him more than once." She spent the next 20 minutes talking about everything they did and Amy smiled, tearing up as she listened. When she got to the diaries Amy focused on what she was saying, making sure that her daughter knew she was there for her. When she finished she whispered, "I know these are just for me but I want you to read her opening comments." Amy opened the book and saw the drawing of a sunflower and smiled, "Her favorite flower." She read the opening comments and laughed quietly, "Honey this is so Grandma Lyndy and you are so much like her. Enjoy this and if you ever need to talk to me, dad, Wyatt or GG you know you can." She gently closed the book and leaned over to hug her daughter tightly. "Now get ready, I need help getting ready for lunch, the crowd has grown."

The morning went fast as Lyndy and Amy, with a little help from Wyatt got ready for lunch. Jack and Lisa, along with Lou, Georgie, Kate and Clay were coming. Steven was at the vet clinic in town manning the fort as Scott and Ellie were on a field call in Okotoks. Grandpa was very specific with his guest list and also made sure that when they finished the call they come to the Miracle Ranch house. The mystery had everyone wondering what was up except for Lyndy and Amy. Everyone arrived and enjoyed some mini sandwiches, salad and fruit from Maggie's. The table was filled with the adults and the kids were on two smaller tables that Wyatt had set up. Extra room was made for Katie as she was due in a week. When they finished, the table was cleared and drinks were handed out. Jack stood up as Lyndy and Wyatt with help from Annie and Addie walked in caring several boxes and bags. They set them on a table in front of GG and went back to their seats. Jack got everyone's attention and began to speak. "First off, I am fine and have no health issues, so let's get that out of the way." Everyone laughed as he continued. "So when GG Lyndy passed I boxed up a number of her personal things and after several years they ended up in the cellar. The other day I was down there and found them behind some other boxes. When I looked through them I realized it was time to pass some of her most precious belongings on to family. So with Lyndy's help we went through everything and we decided who should get what. Now I took some things that were personal for me but we tried to select things for each of you that would have meaning and something you could keep and pass on yourself one day, which I would really like you all to do." He paused for a second as his emotions were high, so Lisa put her hand in his. "Amy, I have some sheet music for you and Lyndy to complete and sing to us one day along with her first teddy bear which was the only thing that got you to sleep sometimes. Lou, I want to give you her old jewelry box she kept the little jewelry she had along with these letters. Lyndy loved you both very much and to be honest you were the center of her life. Your mom and I became chopped liver after you two were born." Again everyone chuckled. "Lou, these are letters that Lyndy and I used to write to each other while I was on the rodeo circuit as well as letters from her dad, mom, sisters and grandma before we got married. I guess they liked me and wanted to let her know. The Paynes really like to write things down so I want you to keep these and pass them on when you are ready. I also have some sweaters that were he favorites and a few tablecloths she embroidered. She was pretty good and again, you two decide who takes what or if you want to give it to someone else." Amy and Lou looked over the items and each teared up, hugging the man that was so important to them. He continued, "Lyndy was quite the barrel racer and roper and won a number of buckles. I have enough for each of you and even the little ones that aren't here, and to come. He passed the buckle box around and everyone took one. Georgie took one for Steven and the soon to be four kids and Katie too a few extras as well. Lou laughed, "So Katie taking a few extra I see." She blushed and grabbed her stomach as a pain shot through her back that she hid. Ty laughed, "Wow now I have two buckles!" Jack continued to give out specific things to the family, Addie loved the pictures of GG Lyndy working on cars and farm equipment, JT loved the pictures of her fishing at the cabin and as a surprise some of her favorite lures she made. Annie was tearing up as Jack gave her some ribbons and pictures from show jumping competitions when she was a little girl. Maddie screamed with glee when Jack handed her the binder of list and pictures that she had used to prepare for their wedding. She held it up and ran to Jack for a big hug. For Georgie and her family he had pictures of Lyndy and all of her horses and Katie got some baby booties and caps that she had crocheted for Amy and Lou. Everyone got something as they chatted happily about it with each other.

Jack sat back as Lisa held his hand. He glanced over to Lyndy and had a special smile for her. Amy noticed it and went to him. Grandpa, we all love you so much, thank you for everything, especially for Lyndy." As the discussion continued, Katie continued to have pain and Clay was the first to notice it. He leaned over and whispered something to her and she smiled and winced at the same time. The next to notice was Lyndy and Lou. Lyndy went over to her and whispered something as well. In an instant the room became focused on her and on queue her water broke. Baby Foster was ready to join the family. Immediately the well planned activities began. Clay pulled up the truck as Lou, Georgie and Amy went to get Katie settled. Scott and Steven pulled up just as all heck was breaking loose. Steven laughed, "Did we miss the party? Georgie went to hug him, "Shush, you are going to be an uncle." Lyndy and Wyatt headed to Heartland to get the bags they had packed for the hospital. Lou was frantically on the phone calling her doctor and Amy was calling the hospital. Katie we trying to breath and wanted Clay by her side. Amy took over driving so Lou and Clay could sit in the back with Katie between them and Georgie in the shotgun seat. The pains were strong but still pretty far apart. Lisa, Jack and the Borden kids said they would clean up and for them to make sure they kept them updated. Lisa smiled, "We'll see you at the hospital, we will be taking over the waiting room." As they pulled away the family waved and went into action. Jack was smiling so broadly that his mouth hurt. He stood next to Ty and put his arm around him. "Ty I can't ever remember feeling so loved and being so excited for the family. You know there have been some hard times but we got through them. And you, Amy, Lou and Scott are the future and I couldn't be happier that you will take this family forward. And as my adopted son, I can't thank you enough for sticking it out and marrying my granddaughter, even though you ignored my threats." Ty smiled and just shook his hand, hugging him. He was really happy he married Amy as well.
