Chapter One Hundred Fifty-One
School Milestones
A/N – Definitely a lot going on in the last chapter. I have had several inquiries about giving some health updates so I hope what I provided met those expectations. I have always tried to be upfront and truthful about how people are doing and make sure I do my research regarding any health issue. In life families always have challenges and my focus in on not avoiding them but to meet them head on with the support of the people around that love you. Date night ended up growing as a storyline and I hope I treated with the attention it deserves. Amy and Ty had an early life of challenges and my hope is that now I am showing a couple who are one heart and soul, completely together. I will be discreet but not shy away from the intimacy they share. Lyndy and Wyatt are young and their love is blossoming. The difference for them is that they see what true love is through their parents where Ty and Amy never saw that with the Lou and Tim character. Even the Caleb/Ashley debacle never caused them to vary from what they both ultimately wanted. I hope to continue to nurture and develop our young couple's love story. Sorry for the soapbox moment. Now let's get to school and a lot of birthdays. A lot of Borden time the upcoming chapters for sure. The next month will be a crazy time for the family and I have a number of storylines to develop. So hold on to your hat and enjoy the ride. Thanks for your comments and ideas. They are my motivation and confirms to me why I am writing this story. Mild Mature Content Enjoy!
Maddie was dropped off early by Caroline's dad because her and her sister had their school physicals today. She walked in the door and immediately saw Annie and Addie sitting at the kitchen counter looking bored. She spoke excitedly, "Hey guys what's up?" Annie put her finger to her lips for her to be quiet, "The two date couples are still sleeping, and yes Wyatt is in Lyndy's room. Man, mom and dad are push overs with them." Addie poked her, "Give it a rest sis, it's not like they would do anything." The three girls giggled and started to get the coffee pot going and getting some breakfast together. Lyndy opened her eyes as the sun came through her window. As she gathered herself, she became aware that Wyatt was spooning her and had his hand conveniently under the front of her shirt, cupping her breast. She attempted to move but he was out like a light. Although last night wasn't all they had hoped for they defiantly had a lot of fun. She had to get up, so she pulled his hand away and rolled out of bed. She shook him, "Wyatt, you need to wake up, it is late and you need to go get dressed before anyone sees us." He rolled out of bed and whispered pulling her into a deep hug and then kiss, "Hey beautiful, I could get used to waking up with you." She giggled, "Me too but you need to get out of here and be quiet about it." They kissed again as he quietly walked out of her room. Lyndy blushed falling back on her bed as happy as she could be, she loved Wyatt Miller. A little bit earlier Ty was the first to wake up in their bedroom. As he opened his eyes he marveled at the beautiful woman lying next to him. He rolled over to her as she began to stir. He kissed her awake and after a few moments a smile came on her face. "Well that is a nice way to wake up Mr. Borden. You seem wide awake." She reached down and felt that he was in fact really excited to be awake. "Hmm, was last night not enough for you stud." He laughed as she pulled him in, "We need to get up, I think I heard the girls downstairs." Fine, I'll get dressed and head down and you can do your woman things." She poked him, "You love my woman things." They kissed again remembering what a great night they had. As Ty walked out her quietly shut the door, turned around and bumped into a startled Wyatt. He acted serious, "What's wrong, are you roaming the halls?" Realizing he hair was a mess and he was in his pajama shorts and t-shirt. "Uh no I was just heading to the bathroom, sir." Ty continued to control himself pointing the other way, "Well it is that way." Wyatt's embarrassment was overwhelming but then it got even worse. Lyndy's door opened and before she saw her father she whispered, "You forgot your phone babe." Ty stepped into view and said, "Thanks Honey." At that instant, the two of them were about to pass out. Ty kept a stone face and spoke clearly, "Well I am heading down to breakfast and mom is right behind me. I will see you both shortly." As he walked away sternly, he did all he could not to bust out laughing. Wyatt and Lyndy looked at each other completely embarrassed as they bolted back into their rooms. Ty walked down with Amy coming up right behind him. She whispered, "Did I hear you talking to someone in the hall." He smiled and kissed her cheek, "Let's just say our daughter and her boyfriend were busted, I'll tell you later." Amy poked his ribs, "You be nice." They came into the kitchen to see their three younger daughters busy preparing breakfast. Maddie brought them both coffees and squawked, "You even beat the other two lovebirds down." The girls giggled and went back to breakfast prep.
Less than five minutes a solemn Wyatt and Lyndy walked down quietly. Annie, spoke up first, "Wow, what's wrong you two was your date night a bust?" Amy spoke to her abruptly, "Annabelle Borden, you mind your own business or we will ask you how you night was with Jeremy." Maddie laughed, "Any kissing with your men, Annie and Addie." Addie and Annie blushed and poked her as Lyndy looked at her mom thanking her with her eyes. During breakfast the girls, less Lyndy, talked about their nights. Even Amy talked about the place they ate and the amazing music they listened to. Amy spoke up, "Ok, we have a lot to do today and don't forget tomorrow is our traditional family ride and picnic the day before school starts. You need to have the horses ready by 10 in the morning so we can leave on time. Lyndy, can you go with me to the store after we eat, I want to get some things for tomorrow lunch and dinner and our big breakfast on Monday that dad cooks." Ty gave a thumbs up as everyone clapped and went to hug him. He needed to get to the clinic so he gave Amy and kiss and told the kids to have a good day. Amy glanced over to a still concerned Wyatt and looked at Ty. He knew what she wanted him to do so he spoke up, "Hey Wyatt, can you come and help me with something, it will just take a few minutes." He followed him sheepishly as they both knew that individual conversations were on the way. As he walked out the door he glanced to Lyndy as she smiled meekly back mouthing "It will be Ok." The rest of the kids helped clean up as Amy and Lyndy got ready to leave. Amy reminded the girls that JT would be showing up shortly and to keep an eye on him. She laughed, "Keep him away from those ranch hands, He may start chewing tobacco and spitting soon." They all laughed as they watched their mom and older sister head off. Annie spoke up, "Something is up with Lyndy and Wyatt, we need to find out." Ty and Wyatt were quiet as they walked over to the clinic. He helped Ty move a few things in the operating room and finally had to say something, "Mr. Borden, I just want to say that I completely respect you and Amy and of course Lyndy. I hope you don't think anything inappropriate happened. We just had such a fun night and when we got back were exhausted and fell asleep in her room. Trust me we would never do anything that would make you guys unhappy or concerned, I promise." Realizing he was babbling, he took a breath and Ty smiled, putting his hand on his shoulder, "Really, Mr. Borden?" Wyatt immediately relaxed. "Wyatt, Amy and I really do trust you both but we are not foolish not to think that the two of you are getting closer. And we know you weren't asleep when we looked in. Both of you were breathing pretty quick for that." Wyatt blushed as he continued. "Like Amy and I have told you guys, you have plenty of time to grow your relationship so, although it is tough, be patient. We were lucky when we were your age, I was in the loft and I won't go into details but it made things easier. But no matter what I always respected Jack and most importantly Amy and made sure everything was at her pace." Wyatt smiled and spoke quietly, "Thanks Dad." They finished up and Wyatt went on his way, he had a horse to look at. He was relaxed but then worried that Lyndy was having the same conversation with her mom. It seemed they would have a lot to talk about later.
The ride to the store was kind of quiet, especially when Lyndy, who had gotten her permit, was driving. As they parked Amy complemented her driving. Lyndy smiled, "Well Wyatt has been giving me some lessons, but only during the day and close to the ranches. Amy smiled, "Well you know who taught me and it worked out Ok and he wasn't even my boyfriend then, well kind of." When they parked, Lyndy smiled nervously. "Ok, mom let's talk, I can't take the tension anymore. Mom, I am sorry about last night. We had a great date and we just kind of were talking and got a little carried away. I guess you know we weren't sleeping when you guys peeked in. It's just so hard to have any alone time and I know it was stupid and it won't happen again, promise." Amy let her catch her breath since she was rambling and then grabbed her hand. "Honey, trust me, I know how difficult it was for dad and I when we were young, I mean grandpa was unbearable. If isn't want for me sneaking out to the loft we would never had been able to be together. We are not mad, although you guys should be a little more discreet, especially when you sisters and little brother are close." Lyndy blushed, "Mom, love it kind of difficult." Amy smiled and gave her a hug, "Yea but it's all worth it. Let's get this shopping done. I bet Wyatt needs to see you after his talk with dad and before you say anything, I am sure he was nice." They had fun shopping, just the two of them and after checking out they headed home. Wyatt noticed them get back and helped unload the groceries and went for a walk with Lyndy. Amy smiled as she watched them walk away remembering the walks that her and Ty used to take when they needed to talk. Maddie bolted in the room and screeched, "Where are they going mom, I am going to see if I can go with them." Amy clutched her arm, "No, you are going to help me unpack everything. She complained but helped her mother along with JT to get things put away. The family was excited for the trail ride, picnic and most of all their dad's annual 1st day of school breakfast. The kids were excited and a little nervous. JT was starting kindergarten and Maddie was in her last year of elementary school. 5th grade. But the biggest thing for the Borden family was that the twins were going to 8th grade. And Wyatt and Lyndy were going to be Juniors. They had to start thinking about colleges and already had been asked by their parents to make a list. Lyndy also had a big decision to make regarding the Goddard School. Being a junior, she had to make a bigger commitment to stay in the hybrid program she was in. She had a little time after school started to make the decision and had been talking to Wyatt and her parents a lot about it. She also confided with Katie since they were so close. Along with the start of school Maddie, Annie and Addie had birthdays coming soon along with Noah and Hannah Weber. The beginning of the school year would be hectic and exciting as always. The Bordens couldn't wait for the school year to begin.
As promised the kids had the horses all tacked up and Lyndy and Wyatt made sure all the food and drinks were loaded up as well. Ty and Amy had a last minute high maintenance client come in and were meeting with them since they specifically asked for Amy to work with their horse and were paying top dollar. A little after 10:00, a flustered Amy and Ty came to the barn apologizing for being a little late. Maddie and JT laughed and she joked, "Whatever mom and dad I guess we don't rank high enough for you." Amy went and tickled her as they all laughed and headed out for their ride and picnic. The ride and the day was perfect as Amy and Ty followed the kids and watch them joking, laughing and bickering a bit back and forth. They had noticed that as they grew up their became more mature and aware of things. Lyndy and Wyatt were mature and calm through most things and always acted as peace keepers for the younger kids. Annie and Addie had a love for each other that was special but still they were sisters and gave each other a lot of ribbing, especially about boys and school. But no matter what they were fully committed to be there for each other, no matter what. Of all the kids though Maddie was generally the biggest trouble maker. She was unbelievably intuitive and opinionated. She struggled with filters and sometimes her mouth was way ahead of her brain. The kids understood and were tolerant to a point. Lyndy had self-appointed herself to reel her in now and then and was successful most of the time. Then there was JT. Living with 4 older sisters and Wyatt subjected him to things most kids his age would not see and experience. But more than that, he possessed an awareness of everything around him along with a sense of caring and love. He asked a lot of questions which at times seemed way above his age. Plus Amy and Ty believed his ability to talk with Marion and Lyndy had provided him a perspective that most soon to be Kindergarten students would not get. He was highly intelligent and took everything in like a sponge. But what amazed them most of all was his capability to understand what others needed and how then provide it for them. They held hands and smiled at their kids, completely in love with them and their life. Maddie looked back, "Come on you two love birds, I am hungry and the horses need some water." Everyone laughed as Annie jabbed her little sister. They set up along the river so the horses could get that drink and the kids cold swim. They begged Amy and Ty to join them but they just sat enjoying the time sitting close and watching them. They set up the food and threw towels to the kids. They enjoyed a fun lunch as everyone was really excited about starting school. Amy reminded them that tonight they needed to get everything ready and they would order pizza and just hang out. Each of the kids were asked to say one thing they were looking forward to this school year. JT spoke up first, "I can't wait to go to kindergarten which is like real school and be with my friends." Maddie jumped in, I can't believe I am in 5th grade, we will rule the younger kids, especially you little guy." She poked JT as he giggled. Annie and Addie were really looking forward to their last year of middle school but Addie spoke quietly for both of them. "We are a little nervous though, we are excited about high school but it is so different." Lyndy smiled, "You two are going to rock it and you have the two of us there as Seniors to boss you around." They all giggled and poked at each other again. Lyndy and Wyatt got serious. Lyndy spoke first, "I plan to have a lot of fun this year but we both need to start thinking about college and for me my dance school decision." Wyatt smiled and pulled her in for a side hug. "Whatever you decide we will all support you and as far as this year, I am really excited. I am still thinking about looking into something with animals, specifically horses. You all have showed me how amazing they are." They all smiled and quickly got back to eating. They packed up and headed back home, the ride had been perfect.
Dinner and prep for school went well and the kids were all tired. Amy spoke up, "Ok you guys it's time to call it a night, you all need a good night's rest." Maddie laughed, "Wow going all mom on us for sure." They all laughed as Ty added, "We'll be by to see you all in your rooms." He directed the comment to Lyndy and Wyatt, specifically as they both blushed and Amy smacked him in the arm whispering, "Ty stop, leave them be." Amy and Ty finished cleaning up and had a cup of tea in the lounge siting closely. Ty whispered, "Wow, JT is in kindergarten and the others keep getting older. Thank god we are still really young, especially you." She giggled wiggling her eyebrows seductively, "Well it will be weird with them all at school all day, so I think a few sneaky rendezvous back here during the day will be needed to keep our sanity." He smiled and tickled her and kissing her on the neck. She moaned, "Maybe we can practice tonight." They were both startled as a small set of eyes were standing right in front of them. Pulling a little away from Ty, Amy smiled, "Hey little man, what's up." They could both tell something was on his mind. He sat between them, "Mommy, I am a little nervous, kindergarten is all day and a lot harder than preschool. I hope I do Ok." Sensing he was not done they let him continue. "But I am also worried about my sleeping thing. I mean I know what the doctor's said but it is so embarrassing when it happens, especially at school. I am also worried about Grandma Lilly, GG and Georgie. I hope they are all Ok. I really need to talk to Grandma and Great Grandma about it. I wish I could do more for them." Realizing the depth of his concern they pulled him in close and Ty spoke first. "Well the doctor's said it seems all is well and your symptoms will most likely not comeback. But they also told you that you need your sleep and to take care of yourself. You are an amazingly kind and caring young man and everyone knows it. But you are not alone, we are all her to help those in our family who need us. And Mom and I, your sisters and Wyatt will always be here for you." He smiled understanding as Ty kissed his forehead. Amy continued smiling at how much love he had in him, "JT, everyone in this family knows how much you care about others. Max has told us that Grandma Lilly is doing better mainly because of you and GG thinks you are amazing and someone that will be there for him as well. Georgie was talking me the other day and told me that she overheard you talking to her twins and comforting them. You have more love in you than anyone I have ever seen, so we are sure everything will be Ok. If not you always can talk to us, or anyone else in this house." He smiled and went to hug his parents tightly. He giggled, "Next time I come to talk, I'll make sure you aren't kissing and stuff. You know I understand more than you think, Rusty and the guys have been filling me in." Amy rolled her eyes and looked at Ty tickling JT, "We need to keep you away from those guys." He hugged them once more and headed up to bed as Amy promised they would be there soon to tuck him in. They smiled without words and hugged, getting up and go see the kids. Their thoughts were both around their amazing children and life. They took a little extra time with each of them as they went around to say a final good night. They went to their room and quietly got ready for bed. Ty sat in the bed watching Amy get ready, applying her lotion and combing out her hair. He marveled at her beauty and realized he never got tired of watching her get ready. Amy turned off her light and headed over to bed wearing one of Ty's favorite nightgowns. He smiled as she approached and snuggled into his embrace. The night, especially the talk with JT had been amazing but a bit taxing. Finally Amy whispered, "Ty I love you and I love our kids so much. They are each so special in their own way." He smiled in agreement and pulled her in for a deep and passionate kiss. "I love this nightgown. It will be a good one to practice in." That was all they needed to begin enjoying themselves completely. It would be a couple of hours before sleep came to them but that time would be spent completely loving each other in a way only they could experience. Ty made sure he set the alarm a little early so they could get breakfast and help the kids get ready. Before he fell asleep, exhausted, he looked down at his sleeping wife and whispered, "I love you Amy Borden."
To say the morning was hectic would be an understatement. Although Amy helped them set out clothes the girls were stressing for the right thing to wear. As Amy went up to referee the battles, and already dressed Wyatt and JT went down to help their dad, who was manning breakfast preparation himself. When JT came down he laughed, "Dad, you don't want to go up there, it's crazy." Wyatt joined in, "I know, I told Lyndy her outfit looked good and was fine and I thought she was going to take a swing a me. She lost it telling me she needs to look perfect since it is the first day of school. She was pretty scary for sure." They all laughed and finished up, set the table and set all the food out. It was defiantly a feast and everyone would be well fed for sure. All of the book bags and lunches were on the counter ready to go so all they needed were the girls. Right on queue, they heard them coming down the steps kind of happy. As they entered the dining room Ty smiled, "you guys look so beautiful, right guys." JT and Wyatt shook their heads in agreement. Immediately Lyndy went to hug Wyatt apologizing for her outburst. Amy went over to Ty and smiled assuredly as the chaos had been resolved. Maddie spoke up, Let's eat, I am starving." Breakfast was fun and everyone helped clean up. Wyatt and Lyndy were going to drop off the twins since the middle school was right down the street from the high school. Amy and Ty were going to take Maddie and JT as well as Trent who needed a ride as Mallory was not feeling well. They hadn't told JT but they also wanted to talk to JT's teacher and nurse about his checkup. Caleb, Rusty and several other ranch hands watched from the barn as the Borden family headed out. Rusty laughed, "Look at that group, they are something else for sure." Caleb smiled as he watched his two best friends and their family, "Yes they are." After Wyatt and Lyndy dropped off the twins she scooted over and continue to apologize about her outburst. He smiled a little afraid to say anything but he took the plunge, "Lyndy you are beautiful and that outfit is really nice. You look amazing. It looks like I may need to keep the boys away for sure, because I think they all will be looking at you, since you are so fine." Lyndy smacked him. "Ok, kind of getting deep, you had me at beautiful." She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek and laughed, When we stop in the parking spot, I am laying a big kiss on you for sure." Sure enough as he turned off the truck she pulled him into a deep kiss. Thye got a little wrapped up s several of their friends started knocking on their windows razzing them to no end. Lyndy jumped out screaming with her friends as they all were looking forward to their Junior year. Wyatt walked over to the quad area with her and was absconded by his buddies as they applauded his make out session. One of them laughed, "Man Wyatt, you are so lucky, you are with the hottest girl in the class and her room is right nest to yours." Before he continued to be a little descriptive, Wyatt's best friend stepped in, "Dude, don't go there or I expect my friend here will let you know when you cross the line." The others smiled completely understanding the comment as Wyatt remained quiet. The first bell rang and they kids headed in. Wyatt and Lyndy were in different homerooms but did have several classes and lunch together. The kept the kissing down but greeted each other when they crossed paths in the morning. At lunch they sat alone and talked about the morning. Lyndy smiled, "I heard there was almost an issue with one of you buddies this morning. Seems he had to be set in his place by one of your friends." Wyatt smiled, "I can't believe you heard about that and you would be proud of me. I wanted to pop him one but held myself back. I am so lucky to be with you and am the luckiest guy at Hudson High." They snuck a kiss and headed out for the afternoon. The rest of the day was exciting for both of them but Lyndy was still a bit sidetracked. She had a big decision to make and planned to talk to her parents, Wyatt and Katie about it. She was torn but knew she had to decide soon. After school she smiled when she saw Wyatt heading her way. They jumped in the truck and headed home. It was going to be a fun dinner tonight hearing about everyone's day.
As Annie and Annie were dropped off they immediately were met by their boyfriends. Jeremy and Desi broke away from their buddy group and went to meet them with a hug and light kiss. They were harassed by everyone who watched them until Camilla, Troy, Bella and Maya headed their way. Even though the four couples had been together a lot over the summer it was still fun to be at school as 8th graders as Desi proclaimed, "We will rule the school this year, I am excited." Addie laughed and poked him in the ribs, "Whatever Dez, we all know girls rule the world." Bella chimed in, "Right on Adds, girl power." The boys rolled their eyes as the girls kept on proclaiming their superiority. As the group enjoyed the first day excitement, Jeremy noticed the same group of bullies coming their way that had harassed Bella and Maya last year. He poked the other two guys to get their attention and then positioned themselves between them and the girls. Addie joined them after she saw what was going on. But what happened next startled them all. A group of boys from the football team saw them heading over to the group. They stepped in the way and confronted them. Although the group couldn't hear the words, voices were raised and some pushing and shoving began. As it escalated, a couple of teachers and the football coach interceded and joined the conversation. Things calmed down and a couple of the bullies were led to the office. The leader of the football team looked back, smiled and gave them a thumbs up. Bella ran over to him and gave him a big hug as everyone laughed at her spontaneity. The bell rang so they headed to class. During morning announcements it was mentioned that in place of their last class an eighth grade only assembly would happen in the gym. Everyone in the class had no idea what was up. The day was fun and exciting for the group. They were all in several classes together throughout the day. Annie and Addie were so happy that they were eight graders and to have such a fun circle of friends that meant so much to them. At lunch they were happily talking about their mornings. Annie spoke up, "I wonder what this last minute assembly is about?" Everyone had their own ideas, Bella and Maya thought maybe some new rules were in place for them, Troy thought they would be telling them that as eighth graders they needed to be leaders, and Camilla was certain that they would be told how important this year is to prepare for high school. As the time for the assembly came up a group of nervous 8th Graders filed into the gym. Everyone was on edge as the principal got their attention. He welcomed them all and told them not to worry, the administration just wanted to meet with the 8th grade class to go over a few things. Interestingly one of the topics was using this year to prepare for High School and that during the year they would meet to give them some tips on how to do that. After a few more administrative things the principal took a breath. "The final thinking we want to talk about it bullying. We were made aware this morning of an incident of bullying that occurred before the school day began. 8th Grade is tough enough but when bullying comes into play it makes it even harder. There is a no tolerance rule for people who bully and demean others for anything that in the eyes of the people doing the bullying is different, and we mean everything. Now with that said, we have a young man who has offered to speak to the class in lieu of the possibility of being expelled along with another student who asked to speak." To the surprise of everyone there, the leader of group of boys who were heading over to harass Bella and Maya and the quarterback of the football team came out followed by their parents and several of the school counselors. The boy from the group spoke first. "I would like to apologize to the two classmates that we went to confront this morning just because their relationship is considered by some to be immoral and not acceptable. I realize that we were wrong and should treat them with respect like everyone else in our class and school. You have my promise that this will never happen again and I again apologize to both of them and their close friends." The room was silent as the quarterback of the football team came up. "Hello classmates, along with some of my teammates we saw the incident happening this morning and went to stop it. We have seen this before and as a team our coach has encouraged us to be proactive and approach anyone we believe is bullying another 8th grader. We did interrupt this but unfortunately we went a little overboard in handling it and some words and fist came into play. That was wrong and my teammates and I apologize. But we will not tolerate this behavior in our class and will continue to make sure it stops, just next time we will be a little more in control." He looked right at Bella and Maya, "There is no place for this at Hudson Middle School and I hope everyone agrees, thanks." There was a nervous applause as the principal stepped back up thanking the two boys and before dismissing the class reminded everyone that bullying anyone it not an acceptable action and there will be zero tolerance. As they left the gym and headed to the buses the buzz was evident. Several classmates came over to hug Maya and Bella and although the attention was overwhelming it was appreciated. Annie whispered to Addie, "well our dinner conversation should be fun tonight."
After her mom and dad dropped her off Maddie ran to meet her friends group who were all waiting for her. Gwen screeched when she saw her running into a hug. Maddie laughed, "I just saw you last week silly." Sylvia, Caroline and several other girls were in the group as well excited about the new school year. Caroline spoke up, "We are 5th graders, can you all believe it." They all giggled with glee and were very excited that school was starting. As they continued to chat a couple of boys headed their way and to Maddie's surprise Ricky walked up to her to say hello. He had been on holiday for several weeks at the end of the summer and also had spent some time with his grandparents in Winnipeg. He smiled and motioned to her to come over. She walked over sheepishly as he spoke up, "Hey Maddie it is good to see you. I missed you over the summer. Are you excited about 5th grade." She smiled and lightly grabbed his arm, "I missed you too and I am really excited to start school and see you." She looked over her shoulder as she heard giggling from behind her. She could care less and continued to speak to him, "Hey since you are back, maybe you could come over and we can go on a trail ride or something. We have plenty of horses you can use." He smiled drawing closer to her, "That would be great just let me know when and I will have my mom drive me over." She smiled and put her hand back on his forearm, "I guess I'll see you around today, maybe we can see each other at lunch." He smiled saying, "That would be awesome." She almost fainted as she walked back to her friends. She was in love and tried to compose herself. Caroline didn't give her a chance to settle, "Mads, what was that. did you just about fall all over him. Is someone in love or something." The rest of the girls chimed in as Maddie shook her head, "No he is s really good friend and likes to ride." Another one of the girls spoke up, "Whatever, let's see, didn't you say you mom and dad and you sister and that hot guy she is with were friends first. I have never seen you so flustered." Gwen added, "And I have never heard Maddie Borden not able to talk." They all burst out in giggles and the blushing Maddie was happy when the bell rang. They day was fun as Maddie was excited about her classes and teacher, 5th Grade was going to rock. But the best part was that she had 4 classes with Ricky and at lunch his buddies joined all of the girls at their table. The other excitement of the day was when her math teacher asked her if she would like to take part in a program with some other 5th Graders at the middle school. The teacher gave her an envelope and told her to get it to her parents and they would be a meeting soon. Maddie was really humbled about the chance to hang out at the middle school a few hours one morning. She was even more excited when the teacher said that Addie was one of the kids she would work with. And she found out at the end of the day that Ricky was also going to be a part of the program and was looking forward to spending more time with him. She made a mental note to talk to Lyndy about her feelings later that day. Although she was soon going to be 11 and was very mature for her age, she still wanted to get her ideas on what to do moving forward with him. She couldn't wait to tell her mom, dad and Addie and hoped that her little interaction with Ricky stayed out of the limelight for a while.
JT was also fired up when he walked in his room with Trent by his side overwhelmed with high fives from all of his friends. Even though he would not be 5 until early next year, he felt at ease with the kids since had had been with them all through Pre-K and was very mature and intuitive for his age. The teachers along with Amy and Ty also felt he was ready, especially since he had 4 older sisters and Wyatt, who were big influences. He settled in quickly as the teaching team talked about some of the things they would be doing. JT knew several of them so he was asked several times to come up and look over some things they were going to do. Immediately the teaching team was impressed by him and Trent and could already see that they would be looked up to by their classmates. As he was looking something over with Trent, one of the young newer teachers was talking with the two of them. "JT it was great to meet your parents this morning and to hear that you are really doing well with your health issue." JT's face went ashen as Trent tried to change the topic. One of the leads overheard the conversation and came over immediately as another one asked the young teacher to come over to see her. She let her know that he was not supposed to know they came in to see them and she was devastated, wanting to go apologize. "Don't worry, Ms. Flanders will talk to him, she has been involved with the family for a couple of years. Meanwhile Ms. Flanders asked JT and Trent to come with her to the teacher's office. JT was on the verge of tears and sat down in a huff. "Why did they talked to you guys, I am fine." She leaned down as Trent put his arm around his best friend for support. "JT, listen to me, your mom and dad just wanted to give us an update including the nurse. We know you are all good but they were just wanting to make sure we knew the details. Honey they love you and meant nothing bad by it. In fact we were going to ask them anyway so they just beat us to the punch." He seemed to calm a bit as she continued. "This is going to be a great year for your and Trent and we are excited to have you in this class group. Don't be upset as this is only for the teachers and nurses to know." He regained color to his face and smiled meekly, "I know they love me and were doing the right thing. It was just a surprise when she said it. I want to tell her it is Ok and don't want her to get in trouble." She was overwhelmed with his kindness and concern for her well-being. She hugged him and he went to talk to the young distraught teacher. After a few minutes, a smile came to her face and a sense of relief in her eyes. Several of the teachers noted the interaction and continued to be amazed at this young man. It had been an interesting and fun day for the kids and they all couldn't wait to get home to see their parents and their horses. It would be an overly active dinner for sure. Amy and Ty secretly enjoyed their "Nap" when they got home before going to the office to start their day. They began making out on the couch when Georgie barged in. "There you are, that crazy new owner is already here looking all over for you Amy and you are in here getting it on. You know I am pregnant and supposed to be taking it easy. The last thing I need is dealing with your client." Amy smiled and pulled her into a hug realizing she was feeling a little useless and laughing lightly, "Georgie everything is Ok and we were just heading over so calm down. I need you to watch me today and get your opinions on the horse." Georgie smiled and as Amy looked over to Ty he rolled his eyes as he mouthed, "Raincheck."
