Chapter One Hundred Sixty-Five

Looking Forward

A/N – I am both excited and sad about ending this first story about Amy, Ty and the Bordens. It has been a journey of awakening for me. I found Heartland during a rough patch in my life and it helped me heal and get back on course. The story was real and wholesome and showed me a world that I was not familiar with. After the start of season 14, like many others the show stopped for me as the two characters that we watched grow closer over the years were now no longer together. This story has been a look of what their life could have been if that didn't happen. I have taken Amy and Ty and built a world of love and happiness around them – and the development of a legacy. I have sincerely appreciated my dedicated readers and followers and hope that I have given you a story that you have enjoyed. As I have said over and over, I have never written anything in my life and I expect early on that was evident. But I do believe I have honed my skills and provided solid content and storylines. But fret not, as my sequel will soon follow that jumps ahead a few years and moves forward with Amy and Ty and starting to focus more on Lyndy and Wyatt. I will not forget the other Borden children for sure as well as many of the other characters. I am really looking forward to moving forward and watching this legacy continue to develop. Right now the title of my sequel will be Lyndy and Wyatt – Passing on the Legacy. If there is a modification, I will let you know for sure. As I said without you this story would not have continued so keep enjoying and get ready for this final chapter, it will be fun for sure. This chapter will weigh heavily on Amy and Ty's perspective of what they have done and what the future holds. The first four paragraphs will be a trip to the past and what I believe is one of the foundational pillars of their love. I have decided to do it in one chapter and make is one read, so I expect it will be longer than normal. Keep telling me how I am doing, especially now that this first story is complete. I hope this chapter, which may be a long one, will provide you with some joy and happiness. Thanks to all who have come with me on this journey. Mature Content Enjoy!

It was Saturday and had been a month since the holidays and JT's birthday bash. The Borden family was settled into the routine of work, school and family. The kids had left and Amy and Ty were sitting on the porch having a cup of coffee before they started their day. It was cold but Ty turned on one of the heaters as they snuggled under a blanket. As they sat quietly they were each in their own world of thoughts and feelings. Every few minutes they would glance at each other and sneak a kiss. Amy leaned into her husband's strong chest and sighed deeply. Ty noticing her misty eyes, kissed her forehead and whispered, "Wow, that was quite a sigh horsey girl. What are you thinking about." She smiled meekly, "Well just looking out at the ranch and everything we have done. An Equine Center, Day Care, Rehoming Center and the entire company we are a part of. I just can't believe how much has happened in our life since you almost ran me over with that truck." He laughed, "I didn't almost run you over I just was a stupid boy showing off for the hot girl." She giggled, "You though I was hot?" He smiled, "Yea, even after you almost ran me over." The each smiled and had a kiss. She nuzzled into him and sighed into him again. She spoke up, "I mean look at the kids, they are all getting more and more independent and creating their own lives, I miss holding them in my arms when they were so little, feeding them and giving them a bath. Remember how scared we were with Lyndy when she was born. I was so worried that we would do something wrong." He laughed and pinched her side, "Amy you are an amazing mom to the kids and the best wife a man could have. Our kids love you so much, I can see it in their eyes. Growing up is part of the deal." He hesitated, "Remember what you said to me when we were struggling with being parents when Lyndy was a toddler. We were so wrapped up in her and making sure she was Ok and you told me that you didn't want to lose us. I will never forget that and I made it my mission from that point forward to make sure we didn't." She sighed and shook her head in agreement remembering the conversation. "Amy, the kids will move on to their lives but will always be our kids. We will be there for them and I know they will be there for us." He turned to face her, kissing her deeply on the lips, "Amy Borden, you are my soul mate and my heart is your heart." She smiled continuing to tear up and whispered, "And my heart is your heart." They held each other tightly until Katie cleared her throat. "Sorry, Amy the client is here with Dusty." She smiled, "Ok I'll be right over." She kissed him one more time, "Duty calls, I have a join up to do and the client wants to watch." She smiled, "Wanna watch?" Ty's eyes opened wide and his heart fluttered, "I wouldn't miss it. Watching you do a join up is one of the million reasons I love you." Amy headed over and Ty took their cups inside locking the house.

They separated at the barn after another kiss and Ty went to assist Steven in the examination of Dusty. Amy went over with Katie to meet with the client and her daughter to get information about the horse and it's issue. Katie would be assisting her as a part of her ongoing learning process. Katie introduced them to Amy and they enthusiastically shook her hand, "It is so awesome to meet you. I remember your video and my daughter follows you on social media. Brandi is a 15 year old Olympic hopeful, will there be a chance she can meet Georgie Weber?" Amy laughed, I am sure we can arrange that. She just had a baby a couple of months ago and has been busy with her newborn and other three kids. Katie, who is her sister, can get her to come over I am sure. What is your discipline, Brandi and what is up with your horse." Brandi mentioned that she was a dressage rider and was hoping to compete in the next Olympics. She put her head down, "For some reason since the last competition, he has been difficult to reign in at times. He is not completely non responsive but there are moments that he seems to be neglecting my direction. Mrs. Borden, he has always been perfect and is my best friend." Amy smiled, "First off call me Amy as we are all on first name basis here. Has anything changed with his environment, feed, training, anything at all." Brandi shrugged her shoulders, "Nothing has changed at all, I have even tried to spend more time with him adding some trail rides to our schedule for some time with him alone." Amy smiled and said, "Well I am going to try to do join up to gain his trust and I want you join me in the pen along the rail while I do it, Ok?" By the time Ty got there he saw that Amy had already begun. He stood next to Katie and whispered, "So what's the story?" Katie filled him in and introduced her to Brandi's mother. Amy glanced over and smiled at her favorite watcher as she drove the tentative and confused horse. Brandi stood still as she watched the Miracle Girl at work, amazed at her grace and control. Ty smiled and whispered to the mother, "She is something, I could watched her do it all day." The mom smiled as Ty blushed a little, "I can see that and I agree." After about 30 minutes and the gathering of a small crowd, including Georgie, who had a sleeping Matthew in her arms the horse started showing signs that he was ready. Georgie nudged the mother, "Watch this." She was startled when she saw who it was but kept her eyes on Amy. Amy stopped the horse and gently turned away, walking toward Brandi, who kept her focused even though she saw an Olympic champion out of the side of her eye. Dusty put his head down and slowly walked their way. Brandi went to move but Amy put her hand up. Dusty came up behind Amy and nuzzled her shoulder as Amy gave him a treat. She grabbed his collar and walked over to Brandi as she greeted him to. Amy motioned Brandi to step back again and mounted Dusty bareback. Ty smiled and whispered to the mother who eyes were opened wide in astonishment, "This is where the magic starts." Georgie grabbed her arm and smiled as well in support.

Amy began in a slow trot to get her legs in sync with the horse. As they got more comfortable with each other she increased her speed and moved around the round pen gracefully. She smiled and spoke calmly to Brandi, "This horse is magnificent, he responds so well and is an amazing ride." She giggled, "I can see why you love him so much." Brandi's mom whispered to Georgie, "I can't believe how calm Dusty is. Look at those two." Katie stepped in, "Amy needs to determine the personality of the horse and from what we see, Dusty is amazing." Georgie agreed and handed off a restless Matthew to her husband who had joined the group. Amy began to slow down the horse and motioned to Katie to get his saddle. She dismounted and came over to Brandi. "Let's saddle him up and then you take him around the pen for me. Amy let Brandi tack him up and mount him for a ride. She began slowly moving him around the ring. Amy immediately noticed that the disposition of the horse had hardened a bit. Not bad but just enough to alarm her slightly. She whispered to Katie and Georgie, "Do you see what I am seeing." Katie whispered back, "Look at his shoulders, they seem a lot more tense than he was with you." Georgie agreed and added, "And Brandi is really working hard keeping him focused." The mother sat in silence as she watched her daughter raise the horse to a cantor. The ride was good but not like it used to be. She began to get misty eyed as Amy immediately noticed it and went to comfort her whispering, "Don't worry, we will figure it out." She called out to Brandi, "Ok, lets settle him and get him untacked. We will move him into a stall and Katie, you and I will brush him down and get him settled." Brandi smiled meekly and ponied her horse behind Amy and Katie. Ty spoke to the upset mother and let he know that physically he was in fantastic shape and then followed his wife to the stalled horse. Georgie took her upset mom and showed her around the place distracting her, "They need some alone time with your daughter and horse, let me show you around." Ty walked to the stall and noticed the two young women treating the horse to a brush down as Amy did some t-touch talking quietly to the others. Katie spoke up, "So Brandi, what do you do for fun outside of school of course?" She laughed quietly, "Well actually school is great and I hang with my friends a lot and of course Rusty. It really bothers me that we are having issues. I just don't know what is wrong." Katie giggled, "Do you have a boyfriend?" Brandi blushed and quietly answered, "Yes, we just became a couple. He is a year older and we met in the competition circle. He is an amazing rider and completes in show jumping. He is really good. We have been together for several months and I really like him a lot." Amy listened to the young girls chat and interrupted. "Well Katie and I can tell you it is amazing being close to someone like that. We are lucky to have amazing men in our life. Do you guys spend a lot of time together?" She smiled again blushing, "Well it is hard but yes, we have gone on some group and individual dates. It takes me away from training and Dusty a bit but I manage." Katie continued the conversation as they all brushed him now, "So what is his name and has he met Dusty?" Brandi smiled bright eyes, "His name is Colby and yes he has. Dusty did seem a little skittish around him so he hasn't seen him a lot." She laughed, I don't think he liked boys much."

A lightbulb went off for both Amy and Katie, as Georgie and Brandi's mom came over to the stall having completed their tour. Brandi was wide eyed as Georgie approached but Amy immediately pulled the group together outside the now calm horse's stall. Ty came over too as she began to speak. "Well I think I know what is up. Brandi mentioned her boyfriend and that he has met Dusty but it didn't go well. I think Dusty is jealous, especially since you have spent a little less time with him. He sensed that Colby was important to you but that he didn't like it. He feels the connection and we expect that your bond has been affected. I know it sounds weird but I have seen it before." Georgie spoke up, "Remember the Olympic archer you helped. She was amazing as she rode in circles on her horse shooting a bow and arrow at targets. The horse had been acting up and Amy determined that her new baby had made the horse jealous. The rider worked on her relationship and they were back winning all of her competitions again and went back to the Olympics two more times." Mother and daughter smiled completely understanding what Amy had said. Brandi walked over to Dusty and hugged his muzzled tightly, "Dusty, you will always be my first love." She looked confidentially to Amy and Katie, "So what's the plan. Amy and Ty said goodbye to the clients as Katie spent some time going over some ideas with them. They were going to stay a couple of days so Katie could work with her and hone the skills needed to get her horse back and still keep her boyfriend. Amy and Ty went back to the office to check on emails and grab a quick sandwich. Amy noticed that he was quiet so she asked, "He mister, you seem quiet, is everything Ok?" He smiled, "No, actually everything is perfect. Watching you work with that horse and his rider brought back memories of watching you work with Spartan and the thousands of other horses you have helped. I understand what you do but each time I am amazed when you do it. I told the mother that I could watch you do that all day and I can, it is one of the reasons I fell in love with you. I never experienced that type of love and commitment and I was hooked and hoped early on that we could have that kind of bond." She smiled and kissed his cheek. He smiled, "I always try to recall when I fell for you. Was it when you almost ran me over, when you jumped in my cold truck, or when you woke me up in the middle of the night seeing me mostly naked saying you wanted to be Spartan." She blushed, "Well you weren't totally naked, kind of." He laughed, "So that is what you got out of that?" He kissed her on her lips and continued, "There were so many times but one always sticks in my mind. It was the smile and wave you gave me when I was pulling away with Jack after you ran our course for the first time. I melted when you looked at me and gave me our smile. I was a hooked for sure." She looked into his eyes with the same smile she gave him so many years ago. He was hooked to this girl forever, he had no doubts.

As the weeks continued Amy and Ty found themselves spending more and more time together as the kids were very busy with their lives. More than once JT was pushing the limits with his new ATV. Rusty and Wyatt had been working with him but he was gaining confidence and was for the most part on his own. Amy set very clear guidelines for him and he kept to them for the most part. At dinner one evening he had a request, "Mom and dad, can I take Shawna for a ride. There is plenty of room for two and she wants to. I will just stay near the house and barn and Mallory said it was Ok." Ty looked at Wyatt, "Do you think he is ready Wyatt." JT looked at his buddy with pleading eyes, "Well he has gotten pretty good with it and I think he can do it. But JT, you need to keep the speed down, with the weight of an extra person it will ride different." Maddie laughed, "I can go with you so you can practice if you want." He sat for a second and contemplated his answer, "Well I actually want her to be my first rider, like mom was the girl on the back of the bike for dad." Everyone smiled as Ty grasped Amy's hand under the table. Amy spoke, "Honey you just be careful. I hated that damn bike at first but over the years it became important to us both." The conversation continued as everyone talked about school and work. Annie and Addie getting excited for high school and even more excited for the Spring 8th grade dance. Lyndy smiled, "I remember that dance, I think I started liking this guy then." Wyatt smiled, "You had no choice because I was so awesome." The three girls gagged as he kissed her cheek. Maddie complained, "Good lord, it's bad enough those two do that all the time but now we have to deal with you two." Addie laughed with the others and ribbed her little sister, "Well that fifth grade dance will be soon so will a kiss be in order as well?" Maddie blushed a little and for once was lost for words, "Maybe." Changing the subject, "And I am excited about middle school too. It is going to be so fun." Everyone smiled again and laughed. Amy noticed Lyndy and Wyatt were kind of quiet so she spoke up, "So Wyatt how are things going with hanging out with the vet folks?" He smiled, "It's been awesome, they are all good teachers and really let me do a lot of stuff on my own. I have already put some feelers at the University of Calgary about admission into their program. I really think having this on my resume for application will be a plus." Amy smiled, "Well we know a few people too but will get with them only if you want us to." He smiled and grabbed Lyndy's hand under the table, "I know and thanks, I kind of want to try on my own but if I need a little help I will let you know." Amy smiled blushing, "You know that is what your dad did. Working for Scott all those years really helped him to get into the U of C. I'll never forget when we found out. He let me open the letter and not only did he get accepted he got a scholarship. It was amazing news that we shared." They all smiled as Addie spoke up, "And let me guess, you guys had a wild make out session after that. Georgie told me that story. She said you were screaming in happiness and then things got quiet. Hmm, I wonder what was going on?" She rolled her eyes and the others giggled, except JT. He frowned, "What is with you guys, why can't mom and dad celebrate in peace." Everyone laughed at the comment. Amy and Ty smiled as dinner as always was fun and reminded them how lucky they were. Even more rewarding was hearing he kids talk about their lives.

The next morning after a wonderful night of love making Amy and Ty laid in bed too lazy to get up. They heard the kids bustling about but decided to just lay together closely enjoying some quiet time. Ty spoke first, "You know I have been thinking a lot about the kids, the business, you know the future. As I have listened to them I have come to realize that they are beginning to think of what they want to do with their lives. JT maybe not much yet but even Maddie has talked about how much she likes helping Gwen, Sylvia and some of the other kids that need it. We need to make sure we do everything we can to help them determine what they want to do and what makes them happy. It was a little different for us as at times we didn't get the direction we needed but we got there. I can't tell you how much it means to me to work with you every day helping horses and other animals." She smiled as she saw a tear in his eye. "Ty I agree and I think we have helped all of them think about what makes them happy. As parents we have always wanted to give them everything they need and I am pretty sure we have. Ty, it took a while to begin our dream but now our children have us to help them, where as we were kind of on our own. We have worked hard to build a dream for ourselves and them and now it is coming true." She smiled and leaned into kiss him deeply, "I have an idea. Let's spend the night at the Dude Ranch this weekend and map out the future for all of us. I think it will help us be able to help them more so they can have the same success we have had. Ty, I love you with all of my heart and I want to make sure our kids have our support and love forever." Now it was time for her to get teary eyed. He smiled, "Well if we are going to we probably need to get some type of clothing on. Well maybe after a shower together." She giggled and ran into the bathroom with Ty close behind. About a half hour later the refreshed couple came down to breakfast. Maddie squawked, "It's about time you two, don't worry, we took care of everything." Ty shushed her as Amy was on the phone talking to Lou. She said goodbye and sat next to her husband who got her a coffee and some breakfast. She cleared her throat. "Dad and I have something to tell you all. This weekend we are going to spend some time alone together at Fairfield so we will be gone. Lyndy and Wyatt will be in charge. Katie and Georgie will be on call if needed to. Unless it is an emergency, we need to be left alone. Ok?" With some looks of concern they all shook their heads. Annie whispered with concern, "Are you guys Ok." Amy smiled and assured them that everything was fine, actually great. They just had some things to talk about and wanted to do it without interruptions. The others sighed in relief. JT looked at all of them with and said with confidence. "Well as long as it doesn't mean another kid, I am all for it. You guys deserve a little alone time." The rest of them sat in disbelief over his comment. Addie joked, "Mom, Dad, we need to see who this guy is hanging with. JT where do you come up with stuff like that." He smiled, "Well Mallory always tells stories to Trent, Shawna and I about mom and dad when they were younger. Seems they were a hot item." Amy rolled her eyes, "Well JT that is nice but Mallory is a little crazy sometimes." He laughed as Lyndy whispered to her mom, "You need to talk to the pregnant lady for sure." Everyone laughed and went on to their day.

It was Friday afternoon and the anxious parents sat on the porch huddled together waiting for the kids. The house was stocked up with food, ready for the weekend. The kids talked them into allowing a few friends to visit with even some overnights. Lyndy and Wyatt assured them that the house would be standing when they returned but they would just be at Fairfield, not far away. A rule was established that only Lyndy was allowed to contact them if needed, otherwise they would leave just after dinner and come back on Sunday, late afternoon. Amy and Ty had prepared a list of items to discuss which included the business and of course each of their kids. She also secretly packed some intimate clothing items that would help induce the romantic part of the weekend that they both privately anticipated. Their loving moments were still there but the need to be discreet continued to be more of a challenge as the kids grew. They were both hoping this weekend not only brought some clarity to the future but provided them some moments of love that they would remember forever. Dinner was as usual hectic but soon after they were ready to go. After a last conversation about the weekend and their expected behavior along with a lot of hugs, the couple headed out. Jenn had set up the master suite for them as it included a sitting area, small kitchenette, huge bedroom and bathroom along with a beautiful outside deck. Jenn had some late night snacks and drinks already in the room and told them to call down when they needed breakfast and any other meals sent up. Jenn laughed, "The staff has been told to leave you two kids alone unless you call down." She put up her fingers in quotation marks, "I hear you too have a lot of talking to do this weekend." She giggled as they both blushed a little. Amy hugged her in gratitude as she left them be. They were both familiar with the room but marveled at the extra things they did, flowers, special soaps, oils, bathrobes and slippers. They dropped their shared bag on the bench at the foot of the bed and Amy got their toiletries out and put them in the bathroom. She laid her bag with all of their planning notes on the dresser next to the bed and went to find her husband who was looking over the snacks and drinks. He walked up and hugged him tightly from behind. "Hey, so you want to grab some drinks and get started or do you have another thing in mind?" Without a word he turned to face her and gave her a deeply passionate and needy kiss. After a few breathless minutes she leaned back and whispered, "Well we have almost 48 hours so I say we wait until tomorrow morning." She looked at him and joked, "But it would be a good idea to get started, we have a lot of things to talk about. You know we have to talk about the business and the kids. And I want to talk about GG and Lilly and.." He interrupted her by picking her up and carrying her to the bed. He began to unbutton her top and kissing her again. She continued to talk until she gave in and pulled him down to her. "Tomorrow for sure."

Within a minutes each of them had completely undressed the other. Amy soon found that Ty was on fire for her. He used his hands and lips to ignite her desires and meet her needs. Their love was heated and wanting as they wrestled in the bed as one. Ty relished the taste of her lips, chest and her most erotic zones. She moaned over and over as she climaxed with the onslaught of kisses and touches he gave her. She enjoyed the attention he gave to her breast and inner thighs. She was totally his, just as he was hers. Her moans increased as he continued his attention to her. After multiple releases she began her attentive moves to him. She rolled on top of him and kissed him deeply with all the love she had in her. She kissed down his neck and chest. He always enjoyed her touch and especially her soft lips on his body. He smiled and whispered her name as she continued her moves all over his body. Their foreplay continued for a while until the need to be one came upon them. Amy looked up into his eyes and welcomed him into her body. Her entered her effortlessly and their movements caused each of them to moan and whisper their love to each other. Amy always found that Ty was a magnificent lover and Ty's breath was always taken away when Amy loved him completely. Their union went on for a while until both reached a unified release, with moans that were maybe a little louder than usual. The excitement of the night and their weekend had captured both of their hearts, which truly belong to each other. They cuddled as Amy got some chocolates and drinks for them. Ty chuckled, "I like you hostess outfit for sure. Or should I say the lack of one." She giggled and posed as she came back to his side. She whispered, "I am really looking forward to being with you but we do have to spend some time on what we came here for. I mean, I am sure we can fit a little of this in but I really want to get to this. My head is spinning with everything we need to talk through." She blushed, "Well maybe not just that." Ty pulled back and look into her eyes, "Amy I love you and I agree we need to do this. But we can probably need to do it dressed." She laughed and kissed him again, never getting tired of his lips." They snacked and talked a lot about tomorrow. Eventually they fell into a peaceful sleep in each other's arms. They dreamed of their life, the past present and future, but most of all their kids and the undying love they had for each other.

Amy and Ty both woke up refreshed and ready to go. They had set some guidelines the night before to ensure they completed the task they had set out to do. After a quick and fun shower, breakfast showed up and they say down to lay out the day. Even though they had things to accomplish, they planned a short trail ride and a walk or two. After they finished breakfast they went to the lounge area and began. Amy spoke up, "Ok, so let's start with Grandpa and your mom. I know this is our least favorite topic but I think we should do it first." He smiled and agreed, "Well my big concern is to make sure the kids are Ok. My mom's cancer is not going away and eventually it will take a stronger hold on her. I know they are strong but we need to make sure we continue to be honest with them. Funny thing is that JT seems to be more in control than anyone, especially with their connection. As he gets older I know he will get stronger but we need to pledge to be there for him." Ty wiped his eye as Amy continued pulling him in for a hug. "Ty, your mom is so strong now and I am sure she will continue to fight. But I agree, there will come a time that it will win and we need to make sure we are here for her and Max. We got her back and now we need to make sure that however long she is with us that those times are special. And she now has Max to, and he is amazing. I think we need to make sure that he is in our thoughts as well. I know the kids love him and will be there for him as well. She hesitated and continued, "And Ty, you have to take care of you too. Darling, I will be here for you anytime, anywhere. And I know the kids will be too. Don't ever think you can't count on us. We all love you so much." Ty smiled still a little teary eyed and hugged Amy tightly. "So Jack?" Now it was Amy's turn to get a little sullen. "Amy, he means so much to us both and to our family, well the entire family. But he is into his eighties and although a rock of sorts, his age is starting to affect him a little. Thank the lord he decided to step away completely." She smiled, "And thank goodness he can still ride. And fish and do the things he loves. We all need to make sure he stays safe and we need to make sure the kids spend time with him while keeping an eye on him." They finished up talking about Lilly and Jack and decided to get some fresh air and walk around the facility. It was always impressive to see Fairfield in action and as they strolled, Ben waved to them and came over. "Hey guys, getting some fresh air I see." He laughed, "I hear the "talking" is going well." Amy scoffed, "We are talking about a lot of stuff. You and Jenn are both very presumptuous of our intentions." Jenn walked up laughing, "Hmmm, well the kitchen staff who brought up breakfast said you two looked a little frazzled this morning. And she also told me you didn't want your room turned over until you left. Are there some things you don't want people to see?" She joined Ben in a combined chuckle and smirk." Amy stuck out her tongue and laughed, "Jealous much." They said their goodbyes and continued their walk. Once they got back to the room they had a light lunch and hunkered down for the afternoon time to talk about the kids. They did sneak a little make out session but soon gathered themselves to continue their discussion.

For the afternoon they moved to the enclosed patio since it was a sunny day. The patio was a unique addition as it was meant to be open air but during the winter, it could be enclosed with clear coverings and was heated. They set up on the table and sat close on two comfortable lounge chairs. They, well Amy had decided to take notes in a Borden family journal that they had been keeping updated over the years. It was private and just for them. Ty spoke first, "Well, shall we go top to bottom or bottom to top." They smiled at each other and said together, "JT." They kissed a little longer than they should have and Amy pulled back, "Ty, we need to focus, we will have time for that later." He scoffed, "You are the one who started it." She smiled and looked into his eyes deeply, just for a moment. "Before we start I think we agree that each of them have to be able to do what they want in life, what fulfills them. Of course we want them to be a part of the business, heck we have built this for them, but they need to want to do it, you agree?" He smiled, "Absolutely, but I think, at least from what I see, they want to. Look how Lyndy and Wyatt have already stepped in and have become a big part of what we do. Maddie and the twins are the same for sure. Annie is an amazing rider and is really becoming a good horse healer. She really emulates you like Lyndy does." Amy interrupted, "Well if that is the case, Addie mimics you. She is a defender of the weak and is always there for her friends and family. She has a technical aptitude that she definitely got from you and is a very confident young woman. And like you, she would do anything for anyone she loves." She put her head down and smiling, kissing his cheek continuing. "And then there is Madelene. Where do we start." He laughed, "Yea she is definitely a wild card. She is so passionate and caring. Look what she has done with Gwen and Sylvia. She truly is a defender of everyone, especially those that have challenges. I mean our special kids rodeo is all because of her." They both spoke in unison, "And then JT." Amy spoke first, "Ok with JT, where do we begin." Ty smiled, "Well we know he is extremely intelligent, perceptive, caring and acts a lot older that he is. I know there have been some issues with that at school but I think as he gets older that will go away. His relationship with my mom is something to behold and Max has told me more than once that he is one of the main reasons that she has been so strong and done so well." He took a moment to gather himself so Amy took over. "But Ty he is that way with everyone he is close to. He cares so much and always seems to know when he is needed. It is like a sixth sense. I expect it has something to do with his special connection to mom and grandma which is amazing but also a little scary." He looked at her with concern, "Amy I agree and we really have to make sure we stay close to him, especially as he goes through the study. I talked to Wyatt and he and Lyndy are on board to and between us we will make sure it does no overwhelm him. As he gets older I expect he will continue to grow the connection and he needs to know that we are there for him. We need to pledge that he will never feel alone." Amy agreed and pulled herself into Ty's strong chest. "He really has close friends in Trent and Shawna but he is so outgoing and kind to everyone he meets. Him and Shawna are kind of cute, The teaching team at school love him to death and we need to make sure he continues to grow both in maturity and sensibility. He has to realize that he has to take care of himself too" Amy jotted down some notes and they read them together in agreement. He smiled, "Ok, who's next"

They were both already smiling thinking of Maddie. Ty started, "She is a special girl and I know she will mature into an amazing woman." Amy laughed, "And the Lou stuff, oh my. But you know she is amazing helping those that need it. The look in her eyes tells me that she delights in her relationships and especially Gwen, who is striving because of her friendship with Maddie." Ty laughed in agreement, "You know I think it is something we need to encourage, in fact we need to talk to her teachers about it." Amy poked him, "Well they actually talked to me. It seems Maddie found some pamphlets on therapist roles, especially focusing on kids with special needs. The teacher told her she caught her looking it over and Maddie had a lot of questions. I think helping Gwen and others has opened her eyes to so many things. Even at a young age she has already showed it is something she really likes. The teacher told me she asked a lot of questions about the in school therapy team and has even been hanging out watching them work." Ty smiled and kissed her cheek as Amy giggled, "Are you going to be kissing me all day?" He scoffed, "Wait a minute, I think you are winning the kissing contest so far." She leaned up and kissed him again, "I will win for sure. So do you agree about Maddie?" He delayed, "Oh yea, we were talking about Maddie. Yes, she does seem to enjoy helping those that need it. I know she takes care of a lot of organizing things but she seemed on overdrive when we do the rodeo for the kids with special needs. She seemed to relish in their happiness and for once stepped back a bit for them to shine." Amy smiled, jotting things down, "So we need to encourage her to continue to hang with the therapy team and let he take charge when it comes to helping with events and such." He smiled in agreement and kissed her cheek quickly, "Ha, one more for me! Ok whose next?" Amy spoke up, "Let's do Addie then Annie." He smiled, "Well the one thing for sure is the two of them are linked together in more ways than I think we even understand. They are both beautiful, like you, kind and care for each other and all of us completely. I find myself watching them all the time when they are together. It is uncanny how they are so connected, even without words. When they were born, I think I read every article about twins and it seems a lot of it was true." Amy smiled and kissed him again, "I know and agree with you. They are beautiful, not because of me, but because of us. I mean they have that light brown hair and those beautiful emerald eyes like you, that I kind of like." They smiled and hugged lightly realizing how much they were a part of each of their children. They decided to take a break and then get to the twins.

Amy smiled as she laid back on the bed, "Now that was a great break, but Dr. Borden, we have more kids to talk about." He smiled, "And I guess we should straighten up our clothes a bit." They got ready and sat on the patio again. Amy spoke first, "Ok let's talk about the twins. Like we said together they are a special pair. So much alike but so much different. I am confident they will never change their connection but as far as where they go, it is apparent already they have different passions and interest. I think Annie definitely has the gift with horses, much like Lyndy, but I also see her competitive drive with show jumping." Ty laughed, "Another Olympian?" She smiled, "You know maybe. Georgie has said it several times that she has the ability to go far and from what we have seen she has the drive and ambition." Ty agreed, I definitely see how she is with horses, just like the two of you. And I have seen her jump, she loves it. We just have to make sure she enjoys other parts of growing up. Remember how Georgie was torn early on with choosing what she wanted to do and how it was complicated since Lou was never here. Amy we raised her during those tough times and look at her now. We need to be here for her and make sure she enjoys herself while achieving her dreams." Amy smiled in agreement jotting down some notes. Ty spoke up, "Now how about out little Addie girl. She is something but for sure she is definitely driven and focused." Amy looked at him, "Kind of like someone else I know." Ty kissed her cheek, "The way she can work with things is pretty amazing. I mean Lyndy's truck and my bike, she has a special ability to fix things and is pretty technical for being so young. She is also very organized and always has a plan. She has said she wants to understand the operations of how we work and really wants to be able to continue to improve her technical capabilities." I know she still loves to hang with the mechanics when they are her servicing the equipment but I see more than that in her. Maybe we should look at technical classes she can take. I mean she also has been a part of the high school shop class and she is only in 8th grade." Ty agreed, "When I watch her I remember the times you helped me." Amy laughed, "Yea right, you just liked my kisses and other things." He blushed, "Well it was a little cold in the shed but we sure warmed it up sometimes." Amy smacked him blushing as well, "Focus Mister. But we can't forget she is becoming a mature and beautiful young woman, we need to make sure she enjoys her life as a girl and high school kid." They shook their head in agreement and hugged tightly. After refreshing their dinks they carried on. Amy smiled, "Well let's talk about the future of our legacy."

Amy took a breath, "Ok, Lyndy and Wyatt. They defiantly each have separate dreams but I can't help to believe that they are intertwined. They are so amazing together and so mature. Ty, when she looks at him I can just feel the love and respect that she has for him. And who doesn't notice how he looks at her." He kissed her cheek, "Kind of the way that I look at you." They hugged as Amy continued, "Well I have to say that Wyatt's focus on being a vet, reminds me of someone I know. He is really driven and I have watched him work with you and Steven and Cass, Ellie and Mandy speak highly of him as well." Ty smiled, "You know I was talking to Scott and he told me he reminded him of me, less the moodiness, lack of belief in himself and just general lack of confidence at times. He also said that he is totally enamored with a Borden girl, like I was with you, less the drama." Amy smiled warmly, "Yea we were a mess at times, but look at us now. I have no doubt that he will be successful and under your wing will become an amazing vet. Ty, he loves you so much and strives to make you happy. You are his father for sure and we both need to make sure that we are here for him regarding his vet development and his love for Lyndy." They both shook their heads again in agreement, "So, Lyndy." Ty felt warm and smiled with love. "Amy she is you, 100%. Every time I see her I have to step back and realize that I am not watching you when I first came here. She is beautiful, like all the girls, but is so much more mature and centered. I really think that Wyatt is a big part of that. Watching her with a horse in the round pen is magical and although like you, she has her own styles and mannerisms that she has developed." Ty was getting emotional as Amy place her hand in his. "Ty I agree but she is so much more than that. Her dancing is magical and I am so happy that she is continuing to help out at the studio. He horsemanship skill as unlimited. Show Jumping, cross country, heck even trick riding are not a stretch for her. She has unlimited potential. She also understands that she need to back her abilities with education. She has already inquired and hopes to be accepted into the Equine program at University. She is completely focused on that and making sure she continues our legacy as an amazing horse whisperer." Now it was time for Amy to take a breath. Ty smiled, "I can see the two of them taking all of this over one day along with the rest of the kids, Katie and Georgie. The future sure looks good for our company and our family. I also am proud of how the rest of the kids look up to Wyatt and Lyndy for guidance and support." He sat a little wide-eyed, "And they are still in high school!" They sat quietly for a while in deep thought holding each other. Finally Amy spoke quietly, "We've done Ok Dr Borden. Our children are pretty amazing." Ty smiled, "Well let's have some dinner and snuggle the rest of the night." She giggled, "Well I hope there is more than just snuggling." Their night was filled with time together, having a great meal and making love as they enjoyed their time alone.

The next morning they slept in after their fun night together. They spent a little time during and after breakfast talking about the Miracle Ranch, Marion Fleming Equine Center, Equine Rehoming Center and all the other parts of the Heartland Equestrian Experience and how each of the kids fit into the puzzle. They knew it was fluid but thought through how they could guide each of them to find where there passion was. It was early for the younger ones but they felt the plan was in order and made sure everything was journaled. They committed to each other that they would make sure they went over it together as needed over the years. They decided that they wanted to see the kids so she texted Lyndy telling her they would be home for lunch. The plan was to spend spent the rest of the morning talking about each other's hopes and dreams, with no need for a journal entry. Amy smiled as she faced Ty with a love in her eyes that was unmatched. "So Ty, I know we completely understand each other but I think we should talk through it." He smiled and kissed her, "Ok Miracle Girl, you first." She took a deep breath. "I have dreamed of this for as long as I can remember. A partner for life, kids, family and a successful business. I am living my dream Ty, the business is doing well, my crazy family is growing and prospering and we have 6 of the most amazing kids a mother could ask for. I can't imagine our lives, even with the struggles, could be any better. But most of all we have each other. Ty, you are my heart and soul and I love you so much it hurts. You are my first and last thought of the day and everything between. I have everything I have ever wanted and will want. You are my friend, partner and lover and I know we will accomplish a lot more moving forward. I truly love you with all of my heart." They kissed deeply as Ty composed himself. "Amy, I have said it before and I will say it again, you saved me from a life I was destined for. Unlike you, I had no dreams or aspirations until you waved at me after riding through our jumping course or the first time. It was then that I realized that maybe I did deserve a future of love and accomplishment. You showed me that I deserved it just like anyone else and through the years continue to guide me and love me. You know there are times I find myself watching you or the kids and am overwhelmed with the fact that this is my life, one I thought I didn't deserve." Amy went to interrupt but he stopped her with a kiss and continued, "Amy Borden, you are my light and make my life complete. We have 6 amazing kids and I have a family that loves me. Even my mom is back in my life and I have been able to reconnect with her, after a lifetime of struggles." Tears came to his eyes as Amy kissed them away. "Ty, we will always have each other and always will my love. And together we will continue the legacy we have built." She smirked, "I don't mean the love making one but the famliy one, although that one is pretty good too." They hugged each other tightly and kissed each other deeply with all the love they had for their partner. They were on the patio as Amy laid in his grasp for a while just looking at beautiful views content and happy. After silence she turned around and faced him. "You know if we had the time…" They kissed and when they pulled away, he whispered, "Let's go see the kids." As they made the shirt drive him to the Miracle Ranch they were excited to see the kids who they knew would be waiting on the porch. As they pulled up they all smiled and headed their way. Amy whispered and squeezed his hand, "There is the future Ty, I think the Borden Legacy is in good hands"

Well there you have it, The Borden Family Legacy. I hope this has brought as much joy to you as it did to me, and you continue to enjoy it for a long time. The sequel will be up soon after I take a short break. (don't worry not too long) The title will be – Lyndy and Wyatt - Passing on the Borden Legacy. I would love to hear what you think. The plan is to continue to develop all of the Borden family characters with a never-ending focus on Amy and Ty along with a lot more of Lyndy and Wyatt, the future face of this amazing family. Thanks to all again for your support and commitment to my writing.

The End

But Really

Just The Beginning
