Episode 1 - Introduction to Human Society
The year is 11,945 the 14th war between androids and machines roars, between the ruins of cities, scorching deserts, and dense forests, in a world with sides permanently in radiant days or starry nights, two armies fight for the fate of the planet, the machines on behalf of their alien masters and the androids in the name of their human creators, amid so much destruction some people just want to forget their troubles and know the world around them.
Perceived by a few androids a signal is being broadcast openly for all who are interested to see, originating from an old POD that is recording the travels of a poorly dressed stranger, maybe he is an adventurer or just a crazy android talking nonsense, but for those who care, this stranger possesses knowledge long forgotten.
"Good morning, good afternoon, good evening ladies and gentlemen! It's kind of hard to tell the time since the world has stopped spinning. I'm your humble presenter Alan the Wanderer and this is my partner POD 000. Say hello POD."
"Heloooo00000..." (Imagine the pod sparking and almost exploding)
"Well it has a few issues but it still works, if you are watching us and you are wondering who this android is and why is he doing this, I just wanted to say that I am sharing information, during my travels around the world I have noticed that many androids don't know anything about human culture, wondering what a certain object is for, human customs and how their society works so if you want to know more about humans keep watching, let's start with cities or what's left of them ."
The city that Alan finds himself in is in ruins, abandoned buildings with broken windows and slightly tilted, the highways are cracked with plants growing out of the ground, nature has been taking over the city, grass taking over the streets and sidewalks, moss covering the buildings, rusty cars standing in the streets showing the passage of time, vines hanging from buildings sometimes linking one building to another, birds flying in flocks across the sky and the noise of animals can be heard in the distance.
Walking along the sidewalk in front of a cluster of apartment buildings Alan starts talking. "Let's start with something basic, for those of you who don't know, this type of building is called an apartment building." Said Alan as he entered the old reception, an old rug with the words 'Welcome' erased was on the floor, a C-shaped table was on the left of the room, a broken chandelier with peeling paint was hanging from the ceiling.
Passing through an open glass door Alan arrived at the ground floor corridor of the building and started going up the stairs, recording. "Many human families used to live here, each had their own space called an apartment, these families could be made up of a father a hand and his children, but some people could also live here alone. POD illuminates here."
"Affirmativeoooo." Opening the door of an apartment, the POD light illuminated the entrance hall.
"This was a human apartment, judging by the decor at some point someone lived here." Said Alan as he entered the hallway, frames with paintings that became unrecognizable over time, the paint fading and smearing the shapes to the point of being unidentifiable, arriving in the living room there was a red sofa with its back to the broken window, in front of the sofa a brown wooden bookcase with a cracked TV, to the left of the sofa, a bookshelf as he approached the bookshelf Alan said to the POD that floated behind him.
"As you can see this place is a mess, but let's not let that put us off, this is a couch, humans liked to sit on it to rest from a long day at work, or to sit and watch TV, talking on TV, I know you must be wondering why it serves, the TV was used to broadcast programs for humans to watch, among these programs there were cartoons, by the way are my favorites, movies, series, news about the events of the world, programs on cooking and many others".
Arriving in front of the bookcase Alan continued. "These are called books, it's a rarity to find some whole and readable out there, books were used by humans to record history, for the entertainment of readers, stories could vary in some genres: science fiction, fantasy, horror, adventure, etc. Other books served to record information such as the history of ancient civilizations, scientific discoveries, or to be used as an object of study in schools."
Looking through the books Alan noted the titles.
"Multiverse Theory, Parallel Timelines and Their Ramifications by Acco..." The rest of the author's name is illegible.
"All Discoveries about White Chlorine Syndrome."
"The Red Dragon and the Giant."
"The Story of Midgard Part 1 Intoners."
"I've never heard of these books before, but it would be a shame to leave them here." Alan said as he faced the third book and put them in his backpack.
Continuing to the right, accompanied by POD 000 Alan passed a bathroom with broken tiles. "This is the bathroom where humans bathed and did their business."
Coming to a bedroom, a single bed with a moldy mattress lay in the left corner of the room, a bedside table with a broken lamp was on the right of the bed, and next to the lamp was a frame with a picture of two adults, a man, a woman and child on a farm, in the right side of the room, an open closet with clothes eaten by moths, approaching the closet Alan found a box.
"This is the room where the human who lived here used to sleep, the bed was where the human slept, and the closet was used to store mostly clothes, and sometimes objects. If someone still lived here, this place would be in better condition."
Inside the box were six rag dolls, one wearing a white dress with a pink eye, the right eye and left arm were missing, the second wearing a white coat with pale blonde hair and red eyes, the third wearing blue clothes with a long scarf, also blue just like her hair, the fourth wore a light purple dress with dark purple hair, the fifth wore a green vest with a big cape and brown hair, the sixth was barely dressed, her legs had some kind of armor long blonde hair on its head.
"Whoever made these dolls did a good job of sewing them to last this much, it goes into my knick-knack collection." Alan put the dolls in his backpack.
Leaving the apartment with the POD behind him Alan continued up. Arriving on the sixth floor Alan found a hole in the wall that led to a balcony of the building next door.
"POD a little help here."
"Are you sure about thatoooooooooooooooo..."
"Yes."
"As your POD I pray for your safety so I should recommend it that seaaaarch anotTTHEEER roUTE ..."
"Come on POD what is life without a little emotion?"
"ISs this a order?"
"As your administrator, this is an order."
"Affirmative..."
The POD then floats above Alan, joining its larger arms to form a bar for Alan to hold on to, while holding onto the POD's arms Alan is carried gliding slightly downwards until he reaches the balcony of the next building, opening the sliding door with some effort.
"This is what humans called an office building, a lot of humans came here to work, whether, in their cubicles or their own offices, it was a routine that could often be monotonous, I speak from experience."
"You know I once asked another android during my travels in Europe if he was satisfied with his work, the only thing he did was organize documents, he seemed happy. Well I think some people are content with simple things in life, I wonder how he is now."
Leaving the room and heading down to the entrance of the building he continued walking down the street and looked up at the sky.
"I know this may sound strange, but the world was not always divided into permanent day and night, before there were four seasons spring, fall, summer, and winter, yet there are still plants and animals, which is strange as one side of one planet should be on fire and the other one freezing."
"I asked an android if he knew why the planet still has life like this, he looked at me with a face like he was asking (Who is this idiot?), I may have given a rude answer, I almost got punched that day, I need to be more careful with what I say, some androids take figures of speech literally."
"Suggestion: you should refrain from making such comments."
"Back to the subject the reason the planet is still habitable is due to a magical substance called MASO, I found it hard to believe that magic existed and I still don't but since I don't have a better explanation I'm going to stick with MASO."
Stepping in front of a police station Alan said "This is a police station, this is where the human police worked, and their job was to maintain law and order in the cities and solve crimes."
Moving forward Alan entered a hospital "This is the hospital, the place where humans came to receive medical treatment, whether to diagnose an illness or in more serious cases to stay in the hospital for days or months, but in my opinion these places are scary."
A wheelchair came walking down the hall and stopped a few feet away from Alan.
"POD let's get out of here now, I've watched enough horror movies to know what this is!"
A few kilometers from the hospital
"I think this episode is already good enough, what should we call it POD?" Alan said breathlessly after so much running.
"How about 'Episode 1 - Introduction to Human Society'"
"A very scientific title doesn't roll well on the tongue, but I can't think of anything better."
At the end of the broadcast, Alan continued his journey; little did he know that he ended up catching the attention of some androids, some welcome and others unwanted.
"If you dear viewers are still watching us send your questions to POD and I will do my best to answer them, POD stop recording."
"Now to look for something to eat."
END OF THE CHAPTER
Well what do you think, leave your opinions in the comments, should I continue with a narrator or write the characters' point of view?
