Dear Danny
Thanks for everything you've done for me but I can't stay any more
Vlad knows I'm here and so do your parents if I stayed you'll just end up getting hurt or worse
Tell Sam thanks for saving my life and say bye to Jazz for me
This isn't goodbye forever you'll see me again when it's safe

"Vlad" Danny grit out angrily wanting to go over to the casa de fruit loop and tear the older halfa limb from limb but that's what Vlad was expecting
It was all a trick he kidnapped Katie all so he could expose his little sister
He hurt two people today
That was two too many
Danny looked out the window "this means war" Danny swore squeezing Dani's note tight in his hand
One way or another Vlad was going down for this
Danny was now in his room with his friends having called them after finding that note
After what happened with Katie and now Dani he needed to have his friends here
If for no other reason then to keep him from going to Vlad's mansion and breaking the promise he made after he fought his dark self
"Vlads gone too far this time" Danny angrily exclaimed to his friends
"This is serious, Vlad has be stooped " he continued still mad no forget mad he was furious
His arch enemy has done lots of nasty things but this time he went too far kidnapping Katie siccing his parents on Danielle all to get at him
"So what do we do" Tucker asked
"We need to get rid of Vlad out of office and maybe into the nearest prison" Danny said determined to get rid of Vlad
"Danny how do we do that without him exposing your secret" Sam asked him
"I DON'T KNOW" Danny said frustrated punching his wall Danny rested his head against the wall next to his fist "I don't know" he said quieter Sam walked over to him putting a hand on her friends shoulder Tucker did the same
Thry tried to brainstorm strategies but came up with nothing
They couldn't think of a way to get rid of Vlad he was too strong to take on in a straight fight they had the same problem with trapping him he'd figure out what they were doing and even if they did trap him where would they put him
The ghost zone was out he'd find a way back like when Dannys dad threw him into the ghost zone they had no evidence against the manic millionaire so they couldn't imprison him on earth
After an hour of failed brainstorming they still couldn't come up with anything Sam and Tucker had to go home Danny looked out the window storm clouds were rolling in covering the moon
Danny thought for a second that the cloud looked like Vlad and his stupid smirk
Danny didn't know how or when but he was going to take down Vlad Masters once and for all
Danny soon arrived to the Xavier Institute after looking up how to get there first
The reason he is here is because of what happened with Katie
He had to apologize for what happened
He'd already been to the Kabooms but he hadn't been able to ring the bell he just stood there like an deer frozen in the headlights he could hear her mother crying from the porch
At least that was the official story
Danny landed on the grounds an alarm before Danny knew it he was scooped up into a net Danny tried but he couldn't phase out a hologram of Danny's dad appeared in front of Danny projected from somewhere
"Attention ghost you have been caught by me Jack Fenton" holo dad boasted "in the latest Fenton anti ghost security system purchased by Charles Xavier prepare to be sent back to the ghost zone in four three two-"
A green bazooka aimed at Danny began to glow Danny closed his eyes waiting to get blasted into the ghost zone when he heard the bazooka power down and Danny was dropped unceremoniously onto his butt
Danny looked up to see a scary looking guy in jeans and a tank top looking down at him
The ghost powered boy didn't know why but his instincts were telling him to run from this man "you here to see the Professor" the man asked
Danny nodded
The man grunted turning towards the big mansion Danny got the feeling he was supposed to follow him so he did
The man took him into an office near the entrance before walking off muttering something that sounded like 'teenagers' under his breath Danny stood outside the door to the office
"Come in Mr. Phantom" a cultured voice said from the other side of the door
Danny opened the door seeing an older bald man in a wheelchair on the phone "yes Mr. Fenton one of the younger students accidentally set off the alarm" the man said laughing lightly "yes children will be children not to worry we've reset the system and will keep our students away from the security controls yes you have a good day Mr. Fenton"
The man hung up the phone "good afternoon Mr. Phantom my name is Professor Charles Xavier"
"You know my pa- I mean the Fentons" Danny asked almost letting his identity to this man who secretly ran a covert team of mutant superheroes
Maybe that's why the guy who let him in was so terrifying 'the guy looks like he could scare Batman if he wanted'
"Yes given what happened I purchased their best antighost security system to protect my students from a second ghost attack" the Professor looked guilty "my remaining students that is after what happened to Katie a number of parents pulled their children from the school"
Wow that made Danny feel worse "I'm sorry to hear that" he apologized
"For what I may ask" the Professor asked Danny could barely look at the old man
"It's my fault what happened to Katie we met a couple of times last summer and during one of those times we ran into one of my worst enemies Vlad Plasmius" Danny clenched his fists tightly thinking of all the times Vlad has used people Valerie him Jazz trying to melt Dani all because he couldn't take a hing that his mom picked his dad
"He's a petty creep who doesn't hesitate to use people for his own gain" Danny told the Professor "worse he's got the means and the power to keep out of trouble"
"I see do you think this Plasmius will come back to attack my other students" the Professor asked Danny shook his head Vlad didn't do anything unless he got something out of it Danny didn't see anything Vlad could possibly gain from coming back here to attack the Xaviers institute
Professor Xavier wheeled away from Danny looking out the window "thank you for telling me this Danny however I don't accept your apology"
"That's fair its my fault after all this happened" Danny said he should have seen this coming it was his fault that Katie had been kidnapped it was his fault everything that happened with Katie and why the institute lost so many of its students
The Professor turned away from the window to face Danny again
"I don't accept your apology because I don't believe you have anything to apologize for" the Professor told him "this Vlad Plasmius is the one behind the troubles falling my school" wheeling over to his desk he grabbed something wheeling over to Danny
And if you need it Danny Phantom, you will have our help" the Professor handed something to Danny
Danny looked down at what was in his hand it was a business card

Danny turned it around the other side had a phone number "to paraphrase another educator you'll find that help has a way of coming to those who deserve it" the Professor told Danny with a kind smile
Danny pocketed the card "thank you Professor" Danny told him feeling better then when he came like a weight was lifted off of his shoulders he still was going to do everything he could to fix things and stop Vlad
But he wasn't going to beat himself over it
The Professor nodded Danny turned and walked out of the the Professors office
"Danny" a familiar voice asked Danny turned to see the other mutant he dated over the summer through the dating service Kitty Pryde
"Hi Kitty" Danny greeted awkwardly "it's been a while hasn't it"
"Yeah it has" Kitty said the girl walked over to him "look Danny could um could we talk"
"Uh sure" Danny said not knowing for sure what his past blind date wanted to talk about walking into the yard Danny looked around at the trees this was a pretty nice place really green "so what do you want to talk about" he asked
"Did you not pick me because of what happened between you and Katie" she asked
'Oh' Danny thought he guessed that was an easy conclusion to come to considering both Katie and Kitty were both mutants that he chose Angelica over
Not that it was what he was thinking at the time or now
Danny shook his head "absolutely not" Danny told her Kitty now looked him in the eye
"Kitty you're an amazing awesome girl who any guy will be lucky to go out with" Danny told her "but I'm in love with the girl who I picked and I think that she loves me"
Danny knew it the moment he said it he was in love with Angelica Pickles
Kitty smiled "she sounds like a lucky girl" Kitty said "and what happened with Katie"
Danny was silent for a minute "what happened between me and Katie was-" Danny stopped looking for the right word "what happened between me and Katie was messy I didn't make the right choices and I ended up hurting her" Danny said looking down at his feet
Kitty giggled Danny looked at her confused
"Sorry not funny it's just she said almost word for word the same thing about you" Kitty said "you and her are a lot alike you're both good people I'm sorry I thought for thinking otherwise"
Danny shrugged "hey if things were reversed I'd probably would have thought the same"
The two stood together in the yard for a bit longer before Danny flew off back towards Amity Park
Danny abd Angelica were out on a date or a "make up" date as they call it
Considering what happened on their last date Danny wanted to do something to make up for what happened yesterday
It was one to make up for Vlad crossing the line
Anyway they are at a burger restaurant enjoying themselves since Angelica still thought that Chuckie hated her for what happened back in Paris when they were kids she decided to take Danny to somewhere that had no Finsters or the rest of his friends
"How do you like the burger Danny" Angelica asked happily now that she knew about Danny's secret identity and why he was often so late for their dates instead of thinking that he was going to dump her for one of the other twenty seven girls from the dating service
"It's no Nasty Burger" Danny chuckled smiling at Angelica "but the view's pretty amazing"
Angelica giggled before sending him a loving look
The young couple would have kissed but someone got their attention their lips inches apart
"Hi Angelica " a guys voice was heard, interrupting them
"Timing Harold TIMING" Angelica hissed against Danny's lips sounding annoyed at the interruption
Separating turned around and saw two teens who looked around Angelica's age one was an slightly overweight boy with curly red hair and a big grin on his face that Danny was just going to assume was Harold
The other was a pretty girl wearing a red bandana over her long hair something about it just reminded him of Tucker for some reason
"Timing Harold timing" the girl told him the two walked over
"Uh sorry Angelica I was just surprised to see you here" Harold told her nicely before looking to Danny "hi I'm Harold Frumpkin Angelica's best friend"
"Between you and Susie I'll pick you Harold" Angelica said rolling her eyes though Danny could see a small smile on her face so he guessed they were actually friends
"Hi Harold it's nice to meet you I'm Danny Angelica's boyfriend" Danny said back being nice to Angelica's friend shaking hands
"So you're the famous Danny" the girl said with a smile looking to Angelica "I'm Susie it was nice to meet you"
"You too" Danny replied
Susie grabbed Harold gently pulling him away "bye Angelica bye Danny oh and nice meeting you"
"You guys too" Danny said before looking to Angelica "so I'm the famous Danny" he asked slightly teasingly
Angelica rolled her eyes "oh don't get a big head Gorilla boy Susie and I have been neighbors since we were three and I might have mentioned you once or twice to her" she said "it's not like I was talked about you to Savannah"
Yeah Danny didn't want to talk about Angelica's 'friend' who tried to kiss him when they met at Floody Waters Angelica didn't want to talk about her either a frown on her face "any chance you could just posses her and get her transferred to a school far far away" she asked
Danny shook his head "it's called overshadowing and I won't abuse my powers like that" Danny told his girlfriend "it's wrong"
He refused to use his powers like Vlad would
Even if it meant not having to deal with Savannah again
"Alright fair" Angelica said before smirking "now where were we" she asked leaning over the table she kissed Danny
Danny smiled kissing her back
Today was a good day
Coach Testlaff blew her whistle "all right maggots line up" she called to a small army of teenagers in football gear
It was football tryouts for Casper High Ravens not that Danny was here for that
Actually he had no idea why he was here Sam dragged him and Tucker out to the bleachers
Why were they here
"Sam why are we here" Tucker asked thinking the same thing that Danny had been thinking
Sam just smiled "just watch"
Down Danny watched Testlaff make the people who wanted to be on the football team run through all kinds of athletic drills he could see Dash from down here doing decent he guessed
Danny hoped that Dash didn't get the position after dealing with Dash reigning over people as the king of Casper High while annoying to Danny was a bigger pain to the other kids of Casper high who weren't in the A-Listers
If Danny was more petty he'd be down there using his powers for a ghost powered edge
But that wouldn't be fair to the people who worked hard to get here
Like Valerie
"VALERIE" Danny exclaimed looking to Sam his goth best friend having a smirk on her face "you knew Valerie was trying out"
Sam shrugged "knew talked her into" she said nonchalantly all the while Sam's smirk stayed on her face
"Wouldn't her armor be cheating" Tucker asked
Danny nodded having fought Valerie in her new armor he knew first hand that the suit gave her enhanced strength
"It would if she were wearing it" Sam pointed out "without it she's just as strong as the average jock"
Thinking about it Danny and Tucker realized that Sam had a point watching interested as Valerie upstaged Dash in the exercises
After a while Testlaff blew her whistle getting their attention
"All right there was some good hustle out there" she told the players "now Casper's had the same policy for her athletes for a hundred years the best player gets the spot ability over seniority" she said tapping her clipboard "if I call your name you're on the team if not either get used to the bench or come back next year"
Testlaff looked down at her clipboard
"Starting Offense Li Csupo Klasky Odekerk Davis Alcorn Hillenberg Renzetti Laird Moon and starting quarterback is-" there was a tense pause Danny and his friends leaned forward in their seats with their fingers crossed
"This years quarterback is Valerie Gray" Coach Testlaff announced getting some applause from the other people on the field
All but one
"WHAT" Dash yelled "Coach you can't give my spot to a girl" he said gesturing to Valerie looking at her like she'd run over his dog instead of beating him for the football team
"Why not" Valerie asked
Testlaff frowned "you know the rules Baxter Grey threw the most passes and ran the most yards without getting sacked"
"But we'll lose with her" Dash said "you need a real quarterback on the field"
Testlaff looked to Valerie "Grey can you give a hundred percent when your on my field" she asked
Valerie nodded determined "I'll give double that if you want coach"
"Good answer" Testlaff said looking to Dash "look Baxter put some more practice in and I'll keep you on as the second stringer"
"No way" Dash shouted again "I'm not wasting the best years of my life being a second stringer to a loser like Grey" he stormed off calling out one last line "call me when you need a real quarterback"
In the stands Danny Sam and Tucker were laughing
"Please tell me you recorded that Tucker" Sam asked when her laughing died down a minute
Tucker nodded wiping a tear from his eye "in high def" he said
"Please send me and Angelica a copy of that" Danny asked when he got his laughing under control
Once the 'show' was over the three friends walked away heading towards the Nasty Burger
While walking Danny began to think about something from watching Dash shoot himself in the foot because his ego wouldn't let anyone but him sit on his 'throne' as 'King of Casper High' getting an idea of someone else with a giant ego who needed to be taken down
'Thanks Sam' Danny thought 'I think you just gave me a really good idea'
And this is where the chapter ends nothing too climactic but plenty of set up for things in the future
