Humanity was tense as the match began between Ada Lovelace and Athena.
As Ada prepared to fight, a familiar voice rang out of the crowd.
"Come on, sweetie! Show the gods your brilliance!"
Ada looked at the crowd and saw a woman in her fifties with well-tied brunette hair and wearing a blue dress made in the Victorian Era.
"Mommy will cheer you on, Augusta!"
Mother of Ada Lovelace
Lady Bryon (U.K.)
Ada smiled as her mother showed her support. She then turns back to Athena and raises her arms toward her.
"Okay then. TIME FOR EXPERIEMENTATION!"
Suddenly three sets of miniature missiles emerge from her arms and launch toward Athena. As the projectiles head toward Athena, she smirks and raises her shield. The rockets hit their target in a large explosion.
"By the stars above! Despite Athena putting up her shield, Ada's missiles trigger a massive explosion! Could the gods' winning streak end here?" Heimdall exclaimed
This gave the humans a glimmer of hope, but Ada knew this was just the beginning of a long fight.
Then Athena emerges from the smoke completely unscathed.
Lady Byron gasped, "What! But how?!"
Heimdall clamored almost excitedly, "And once again, Athena displayed her peerless talent as she blocked all of the missiles! As well as coming out flawless as ever!"
The gods cheered at Athena's splendor. Zeus clapped on his daughter.
In the arena, Ada sighs, "Well, I knew you would survive that, but I was hoping for at least one burn scar."
Athena smirks, "Heh, I have to say, for all this talk, you humans gloat about modern technology. That was truly underwhelming."
The humans couldn't believe what they were witnessing.
"No, no way."
"How can she even survive that?"
"Not surprising, considering she's Zeus's daughter."
Athena resumes her combat stance and glares at Ada through her helm.
"Now, Ada, let me show you the power of the gods."
Athena then rushes toward Ada at a blurring speed. Ada quickly formed a force field to block or, at best, lessen the attack.
Athena's spear lit up with electricity and thrust at the barrier with great force.
Zeus Maimaktês: Storm Dividing Thrust
Despite Ada's barrier blocking the thrust, the force from it destroyed the field and sent Ada crashing to the arena's wall.
"Such power! Despite Ada's best efforts the survive the attack, Athena's sheer force put Lovelace in her place!"
As the gods, Nike laughed at Ada's feeble attempts.
"By the throne of Olympus, couldn't humans be more pathetic?"
"Indeed, this is why my sister will be victorious," Perseus gloats.
Suddenly, the rough yet feminine voices spoke out.
"Come on, Ada! Beat that uppity pompous bitch's ass!"
"Let's go, Ada! Win this one for our sister!"
In the crowd were two gorgons. One was a muscular woman with orange scaley skin, green serpentine eyes, pointy ears, hair of snakes that resembled a mohawk, and wearing a black toga. The other gorgon was leaner than her sister. She has purple scales with white outlines, blue snake eyes, snake hair that move sporadically, and wears an aqua-blue toga.
Sisters of Medusa
Stheno and Euryale (Greece)
Nike yelled at the two snake women in anger.
"How dare you disrespect Lady Athena! You two are gods, aren't you?!"
Stheno spat at the winged goddess.
"Do you think we care! She and that bastard kill our baby sister! We hope Ada demolishes that silver-spooned bitch!"
Perseus scoffs, "Your sister was a monster. She let you two live due to her benevolence."
Euryale's snakes hissed in anger.
"Don't preach about your goddess's benevolence, you murderer!"
Then another voice joins in on the dispute.
"That's right, Euryale! Tell these assholes how it is!"
Nike recoil in disgust as she knows that voice.
"Mind your tongue, Arachne!"
Sitting above them is a unique-looking woman. The lower half of her body was that of a black widow and the upper half of a beautiful maiden. She has pale skin, long raven hair, sharp claws and fangs, and violet eyes.
The First Spider and silk weaver of the gods
Arachne (Greece)
Arachne snickered at the victory goddess.
"Why should I? Without me, you gods wouldn't receive my quality silks."
Nike wanted to kill these three, but she composed herself.
Meanwhile, Athena's forceful display amused Hermes in the section of the chief gods.
'Oh dear, that was a little excessive, don't you think, sister?'
Suddenly, a loud thud is heard, which alerts Hermes. Sitting on a vacant throne is a tall and muscular god.
He has blonde hair and grey eyes. He wears a black loincloth, a red cape, and an ornate helmet.
One of the Twelve Olympian Gods
God of War
Ares (Greece)
"Oho! About time you show up, my son," Zeus chuckled.
Ares cleared his throat, "Yes, well. I'm to support our pantheon even if it's Athena."
Back to the arena, Ada tried to regain her sense as she tried to get up.
She thought, 'I-I went she was strong, but...that was ridiculous.'
Suddenly, Reginleif appears in the helmet visual.
"Ada, are you okay? Can you hear me?"
Ada strainingly said, "Yes, I'm alive...for now."
Reginleif sighed, "You need to be careful. You have to be mindful of-"
Then Reginleif received an alert and yelled, "Ada, DODGE!"
As she said this, Athena prepared for another attempt to skewer her foe. In the nick of time, she used her boosters to dodge out of the way. Athena was relentless as she continued her attack on Ada.
Troy Axiopoinos: Destructive Booming Strike
Athena raised her spear upward only to bring it down onto humanity's third champion. Ada used her mechanical wings to intercept the blow. Upon impact, Athena's attack echoed like thunder in the arena. Despite the power of Troy Axiopoinos and the earth cracking beneath her, Ada's wings withstand it. The gods were surprised to see this happen.
"U-un-unbelievable! Ada Lovelace's wing from her suit has blocked another attack from Athena without breaking?! Could there still be a chance for humanity?"
Overlooking the action, Goll becomes more concerned for Ada and Reginlief.
"Sis, Hera, do you think Ada can actually win? I mean, Athena has been putting pressure on her. I don't know if she can."
Then a familiar voice comforted Goll, "Tranquilo, Goll. Don't be quick to accept defeat."
The three turned to see Santa Muerte watching the match beside them.
Goll yelped, "S-Santa Muerte! How did you get here? And quietly too?"
Santa giggled with amusement, "What can I say? I'm always full of surprises."
Hera groaned, "Well, a heads up would be nice."
Santa Muerte turns her attention back to the match.
"I have to say. Athena is showing no mercy."
Brunhilde sighed in forced acceptance, "Indeed. I wouldn't put it past her to not underestimate her opponent."
Santa nods, "True. However, she seems to be too confident."
Hera's ears perked up.
"In what way."
"Athena seems to know that she will win. Pride is the deadliest sin, so Ada needs to capitalize when the opportunity arises."
Back in the match, Athena gets annoyed at Ada's refusal to accept her fate.
"Bothersome insect. Know your place."
Athena then kicks Lovelace in the abdomen. Despite remaining on her feet, she quickly fell to one knee and coughed for breath.
"Huh...huh...this is going to be more difficult than I thoughts," Ada wheezed.
Then once she gained her breath, she asked Reginleif, "Reginleif, I wonder. What are the chances of me defeating Athena?"
Reginlief was hesitant but agreed.
She then showed Ada the simulated results of the match. Ada witnessed herself being stabbed, hacked, gored, and other gruesome demises.
"I'm sorry, but as of right now, it's 0.5%," Reginleif said somberly.
However, instead of Ada being in despair, she laughs.
"That's perfect," Ada said happily.
Reginleif questioned, "What? But you have a low chance of winning."
"That's the point," Ada continues.
"Because when the odds are against me is where my ingenuity shines through!"
London, Victorian England, 1833
On one of the special nights for the British socialites, a grand gala was in one of their lavish mansions. Filled with expensive decorum and tasteful music, a higher class of London dance and socialize. Among them were a younger and her mother.
Ada sighed, "Mother, do we have to be here. I rather stay home and do my work."
Ada Lovelace (Age: 17)
"Augusta, please! I think you're putting too much time into your...hobbies, and you need to socialize more," Lady Bryon argued.
Ada retorts, "My hobby is to take our society into the future. I mean, everyone here is wasting their time with petty squabbles. Money this, company that. It's all hogwash!"
Lady Bryon whispers to her daughter, "Augusta, you need to learn that there is more to life than your work. I don't want you to end up like your father, so please be cordial and behave."
With that, Ada begrudgingly agreed.
Through the course of the party, Ada acts like any other child of nobility. Bowing with grace, talk about her studies and any other nonsense. She knows that these people care about their comfortable little bubbles. Ada just wanted to be back and create ideas of her intentions. Many call her strange for her weird concepts, such as a small object that stores information.
During her conversation with the party guests, she noticed something interesting. In the manor gardens is a man sitting on a bench and writing on something. He was a somewhat hefty man with brown, short hair, yellow eyes, and wears a light brown tailored suit.
Curious, Ada went to her mother and asked, "Mother, may I go to the gardens to enjoy the flowers."
Lady Bryon looked at her daughter wearily and then agreed.
"Okay, but be back here shortly, okay?"
Ada nodded.
As she went outside, Ada headed toward the man.
"Hello, good sir. How has tonight treated you?"
The man was surprised to have someone to talk to during his work.
"Me? Uh, good? Can I help you?"
Ada said casually, "Oh, sorry! I forgot to introduce myself. Augusta Ada Noelle-Bryon, you?"
The man said with curiousness, "Charles Babbage."
Inventor of the Babbage Engine
Charles Babbage
Ada smiled warmly, "Nice to meet you, Charles. May I ask you what you're writing about?"
Charles looked at his notes and then at the girl.
"Well, I am working on a project. However, there are a lot of variables that severely hinder its progress."
When she heard the word 'variables', her interest peaked.
"Are you a mathematician?"
"Yes, actually," Charles answered.
Ada asked, "May I take a look at your notes?"
Charles was unsure if he should give her the notes.
"Oh, are you sure you want to see them? The equations are certainly complex for a young lady like yourself."
Ada smirked confidently, "I'm certain."
Charles gave her the notes. In the papers, Ada found advanced calculus, trigonometry, and a mechanical device called the Analytical Engine.
"Analytical Engine," She questioned.
Charles said, "Yes, I was working on creating the first digital, general-purpose computer. It supposes to be an upgraded and simpler version of my other invention. But the sequence that I previously installed was insufficient. I tried everything to no avail. I might as well discontinue the-"
Then Ada interrupted, "Sorry, Mr. Babbage, but I want the problem with your algorithm."
Charles is taken aback as Ada says it.
'There's no way. I'm sure she's smart, but research is beyond simple algebra.'
Curious, he asked her, "Care to explain."
Ada stated, "You see, sir. You used probability and set theory to get the numbers into the arithmetic coding. Despite its helpful nature, it will cause problems with the calculator functions of the engine. For its coding, I recommend Integral calculus, statistics, and binary mathematics, as you can see. I must say, it was quite the challenge."
Ada handed back the notes, and Charles was gobsmacked. She was able to simplify every problem. Even Charles's colleagues from universities would have to take their time to solve each problem. And yet, this teenage girl did it instantly.
"Well, it's nice talking to you, Mr. Babbage. I have to go now," Ada said as she was preparing to leave.
"Wait," Charles said, which got Ada's attention.
"I have never met someone with intelligence on par with mine. Tell me, have you ever wanted to make history?"
Hearing this, Ada smiled.
After that event, Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage became great friends and partners. Together, they created the Analytical Engine and became two of the greatest mathematicians in London. In her final moments, Ada entrusted all of her intentions and coding to Charles Babbage. Thus, her vision was realized and brought the world into the modern age.
Present Day
Ada Lovelace stood up and was ready to continue the fight.
"You know, Athena. You're pretty strong, and my odds of beating you are slim."
Athena smugly smirks beneath her helmet.
"So you acknowledge the futility of this battle. I'm glad. Now, kneel, and I'll give you a merciful death."
Ada, however, laughs at the goddess of wisdom's remarks.
Goll screamed in horror, "What is she doing?! She's laughing at Athena! Does she have a death wish?!"
Athena glared at Ada and said, demanded darkly, "What's so funny?"
Ada sighed jokingly, "For a goddess of wisdom, you don't get it, do you?"
The gods gasped at Ada's comments. Zeus felt a twinge of anger towards Ada. Meanwhile, Ares tried to hold back a goofy smile, and Aphrodite snickered."
Ada continues, "You see, you and the gods are like the most arduous equation ever presented in humanity. But like any other math problem, there will always be a solution. Thus, I will figure you out and solve this problem!"
After hearing this, Athena lowered her head.
"Solve? Figure me out?"
Athena gritted her teeth and rushed toward Lovelace.
"A-Athena is going on the advancement once again, folks," Heimdall says.
As Athena closes in, Ada Lovelace waits for this opportunity. Athena lept in the air as she readied to deliver a killing blow.
As she used Zeus Maimaktês toward Ada, she said coldly, "Die."
However, Ada seizing the moment, cross her metal wings in an X formation. As Athena's spear made contact, a sudden impact sent the goddess of wisdom flying. The gods couldn't believe what they saw before their eyes.
"Impossible," Zeus said in disbelief.
"N-no way," Nike gasped.
Athena effortlessly landed on her feet. But then she heard her helmet cracking before it broke into pieces. Also, her ponytail unfurled, showing her long flowing hair.
As Athena glanced at her smashed helmet on the ground, she grimaced at the genius.
"It seems you'll be a bigger nuisance than I thought."
In her helm, Ada Lovelace grinned confidently.
"No, Athena, I'll be humanity's code to salvation!"
