A/N: When I write about the existence of other heroes, I don't mean to include other heroes mentioned in the Miraculous timeline. I like to include Batman, Superman, etc.
Previously on Destruction. . .
"You take the side of someone you've known for less than someone you've known for over two years. I'm going to let you think about it." Blackmire took her seat. She was surprised her partner didn't stop her because now, Rose was crying.
"I never thought about that. Lila-"
"Yes, Lila is very believable." Sarcasm was at its finest. "Lila doesn't know what she's getting herself into. While I'm rather curious about what she promised or told you, my partner and I have other businesses to attend to. This questioning. As you know, your former friend Marinette is currently in the hospital for attempting to take her own life."
Rose winced as she heard about Marinette's condition. A look of guilt spread across her face. She bit her lower lip and gripped the ends of the dress. "Can..." she began. Her voice quivered. She couldn't get herself to look Blackmire in the eyes. She thought she was just a little too scary for her. "Can I go now?"
"Yes." Blackmire's tone of voice was annoyed, but she couldn't force this student to stay. She glanced at her partner who didn't really write anything on his notepad. "Do you want to take her back to her next class?"
Crow stood up. He gave a kind smile to the blonde student. "I'll escort you back, Miss Lavillent."
Rose gathered her belongings once more. She followed Detective Crow out of the classroom.
Once they were out of the classroom, Blackmire placed a hand on her forehead. All of this was so damn frustrating. She didn't understand how these students could possibly believe someone like her. For goodness sake, her own dead daughter tried to help that girl but ended up taking her own life instead. At the beginning of this case, they had let her off the case since she was unfit to take care of it. Being emotionally unstable wouldn't bring justice. Yet, the justice she sought wasn't going to bring her daughter back. She let out a frustrated sigh. Blackmire hoped she wouldn't have to deal with another student who would get them nowhere.
Stuck in her own thoughts looked like she was zoning out. She hadn't realized her partner brought in another student.
Another male student. This one was about as tall as her partner.
"Mr. Lê Chiến," she greeted. Blackmire didn't bother to shake his hand out of respect and understanding of unwanted touching if that were something that could have quite possibly happened to him. "Have a seat." she extended her arm out to the single chair sitting across from herself and her partner.
Crow sat down in his respected seat.
Kim did the same. "I have an idea of what this is all about," he said slowly. "It's about Marinette, isn't it?"
Crow nodded. "By any chance, could you tell us your relations with her?"
The athletic boy understood what was being asked. "Yeah. I lost a friend the days I chose to believe a liar." there was much sincerity and regret in his voice. "I know I was swayed by the words she simply spread. How could I turn down not meeting idols of mine?"
"Was it something along the lines of too good to be true?"
Kim nodded. In shame, his eyes dropped to the table which separated him from the Investigator and detective. "I feel so bad about what happened with Marinette. I wish I could undo my actions, what I said to her."
"Son, we all regret things. We all say or do things we regret down the line. But the best thing you can often do as a first step is to admit wrongdoing. I can offer the next step if you wish."
"What would be the next step?"
"To apologize to your friend. You won't be forgiven right away, however, in apologizing, you plant a seed in her mind."
"Apologize? I thought that sort of thing was a little bit too late for that."
"It may be. You just have to try."
"I'll try." there was much determination in his voice, though, he looked a little nervous to do so. "What about Lila? She..."
Crow's gaze softened on the student in front of him. He wondered, Was this boy also. . .
"I have a friend. He and I are somewhat close, but we drifted after I believed Lila over a couple of lies."
A couple. Blackmire opened her mouth to push Kim on that but stopped herself. She reminded herself that she wasn't doing the questioning. Her partner was.
"Then, one day, I hear him talking to his other friend," the athlete was doing his best to be as discrete as possible to not reveal the person he wanted to keep a secret. After all, said person in mind was very precious to him. He didn't want a larger drift between him and this other, yes, he had a girlfriend, and his friends remained to be just as precious. "Look, I don't know the exact details, but he said Lila had. . ."
"Take it slow," Crow's voice sounded encouraging while it also sounded kind.
"Lila had touched him. He explained it in so much depth that it made me really uncomfortable. I know I should tell you guys his name, but it's not my place to tell you guys, yet. . ." Kim fidgeted with his hands uncomfortably. "No one talks about shit like this. Guys getting-"
"I know and I won't allow you to squirm in feeling uncomfortable further. I won't ask for a name. Just, tell us something about Lila. How did you find out about her atrocious lies?"
"The day when I learned about this friend being. . . well. yeah. I started using my brain for once."
This kid. . . No. These kids. Were they just absolutely brainwashed by this girl? Of course, they were! That Alya girl believed every word that girl dropped. It only meant one thing to Blackmire. Lila had managed to improve her acting and manipulation skills since the last time she met her.
"Kim, I apologize for the use of your name, but I must ask," Crow started. "Do you feel safe going back to your classroom to just observe Lila? We can equip you with certain tools to aid us in recording Lila and-"
"No." his partner, Blackmire cut in. "Do you know what you promised me when you decided to hop on board with this case?" It seemed she didn't care about the presence of another hearing what she had to say. "We won't put these kids in danger. You've seen how much of a threat Lila is. We can only do so much with what we have. We haven't prosecuted anything against her as of right now because of what she has."
"I-I know. But if you could just think-"
"No. I'll walk Mr. Lê Chiến back to his classroom and get our last student. End of discussion." Blackmire stood up from where she sat. "Come on."
"You're the boss!" the tall athletic student's voice was filled with respect and enthusiasm. He got up from where he sat and followed the investigator out the door.
Once the door closed behind them both, Crow placed his hands together. In times like these, he appreciated his partner very much. He looked up to her in a way despite himself being older than her by a few years. The older detective felt he still had much to learn. Like a thing called patience.
A long time ago, the patience he was supposed to have for his own child didn't exist. There was much he regretted. Much he wished he could just go back in time and give an apology to his son. But how could he now? His son had died almost three years ago.
~~~{{ Character Perspective Change }}~~~
There were only certain classes model Adrien Agreste felt safe in when it came to Lila. He never felt safe in Ms. Bustier's class. She never said anything. Never stopped anything from happening, let things happen. . . Then again, he felt he was the same.
When it came to Marinette, he had told her to take the high road. A way to prevent Lila from getting akumatized because exposing her was hurting her. Throughout the time being, the blond allowed himself to reflect a little. Just focusing on one person alone didn't solve anything. What about Marinette? How many times had she cried herself to sleep or done something worse to herself when she was constantly looked down upon by her former friends? Friends she knew for a very long time, but every single one of them still turned their backs on her anyways.
And then there was another thing. He was ignoring himself for the sake of Lila. He was ignoring the screams in his head to get as far away as possible from this girl after what she did to him.
Who would believe you, Agreste? I can ruin your whole career.
She could ruin his whole career if he spoke out against her. Who would believe him? Right. No one.
Adrien was very aware of young women to women coming out to say they were raped by a famous director, actor, photographer, or whatever. And for the most part, when they came out with that, their careers, personal lives, etc were practically ruined. Run down in the dirt. Nothing.
There were rare instances where the opposite gender attempted to come out with a claim that a female assaulted them. The females brought to court were simply given a slap on the wrist while the males were given a life sentence. Talk about equality. There was none.
All of this gave the model an ultimatum. To stay quiet about it even though these officials had an idea about what happened to him. Lila seemed to have the whole world with her. He had no one.
