DeathlyJazzHands55: Well alright then! I'll try and message you sometime this week so we can throw some ideas around. I'm flattered to hear that you like my story that much!
The guest: Welp, I think you have your answer! It might be happening!
Bearticguy7: Great stand! Keep up the good work!
Guest: I may have taken some inspiration from your own detective work, yes. Also...you may be onto something with Elysium. Also, I tried to find a very 'Old England' sounding name for him, but I can see what you mean by it sounding a bit like a Viking name.
As for Shadow Moth, that would actually be pretty funny.
Euphoria: You're exactly right. Momo is essential to the team, even if she doesn't realize it. She is definitely the smartest there, and during this arc, she's going to come to terms with how powerful her mind truly is.
I had some extra time on my hands, so I thought, why not write another chapter?
Johnny yawned, and attempted to get up, only to find he had weight on his back.
A certain ten-year old somehow got into his room.
Johnny snorted at Eri's blatant gesture of affection, and decided to just keep laying down for a while, as not to wake her.
Then, there was a knock on his door, and Eri grumbled awake.
Damn you, stupid visitor! You ruined the moment! That was so cute...
"Who is it?" Johnny asked.
"Your conscience." Came the snappy reply.
Well, I guess the visitor is cute too, in a different way.
"I guess that statement would be accurate, come in Kyoka."
Kyoka came in, noticed the sleepy Eri, and smiled. "You didn't tell me you had company."
"I didn't know myself."
"Sorry, I really missed you guys." Eri said, and Kyoka affectionately ruffled the child's head.
"It's all good, we missed you too."
Eri grinned, and hopped off the bed, accidentally digging her knee into Johnny's back as she did so. "OOF!"
"Sorry JoJo!"
"I-It's okay...ow..."
Kyoka kneeled down and hugged Eri. "Hey, Mr. Aizawa's probably looking for you, you wouldn't want to scare him, right?"
"No...but I wanted to see JoJo..."
"I know, but you can see JoJo any time, you just need to get permission first."
"Am I in trouble?"
"Nah, just let people know where you're going, that's all." Kyoka said. "Now, I have to talk with JoJo about something private-"
"Okay, I'll leave...but I'm coming back!"
Kyoka laughed, and patted Eri on the back, hurrying her along. Once her laughter died down, it became something a bit more serious. "Alright...how do I go about this?"
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No, if you had I would've told you the moment you did it. No...I think I did."
Johnny rolled over. "Really?"
Kyoka nodded, and looked over at Johnny, taking his hand. "Yeah, I did. I like to call my parents in the morning, and my mom..."
"Mentioned that she had a talk with me?"
Kyoka was silent.
"I'm not mad at yo-"
"Why? You should be."
"You love your family, and you trust them, I would've been honest with Dad, or Jolyne-"
"Both of whom are both directly involved with this, my parents aren't."
"I don't care if your parents know about Cummings, or anything else that happened to us. They're good people, they would have to be if they raised someone like you."
"Don't you dare try and use this as an opportunity to woo me, Johnny. I kept a secret from you, and it was a big one. I should've asked for your permission, or-"
"Kyoka, you're seriously overthinking this."
Johnny sat up and wrapped his arms around her, and Kyoka lowered her head. "How am I? I told them private stuff...I told them about Cummings, Santana, Necromancer, all of it...almost immediately after each of them happened. I even told them about Valentine and the Steel Ball Run...I wasn't even involved with that!"
"Because lying to the people we love hurts, Kyoka. Even then, I know that you probably never mentioned that Santana ripped your ear off."
"...how could I? How could I tell them such a thing?"
"You watered down each of them, and...I've lied to the people I care for before, many times. I lied to you about what was really going on duringbthe Steel Ball Run, and I certainly haven't forgotten my insomnia incident. I know how it feels, that burning in your chest, that sinking feeling of guilt. Keeping all of this a secret, especially with the relationship you have with your parents, it would've been impossible for you. It was inevitable."
"Keeping it from you wasn't."
"You were scared I would be mad, right?"
"...Yeah..."
"Am I mad?"
"No."
"Then shut the fuck up and keep telling your parents stuff."
"You aren't hurt by this?"
"It stung when I first found out...but I know you Kyoka, and this really isn't the most harmful thing you could've kept from me."
"Okay..." Kyoka nodded, noticeably in a better mood. "Okay. Thanks for being so understanding, JoJo, you're the best...and I'm sorry I kept this from you for so long."
"You're fine."
Kyoka leaned back and rested her head In Johnny's lap, gazing up into his eyes. "God I love you...even when you have crazy bedhead hair."
"Oi, I just forgave you idiot, don't make me take it back."
"You're a Godsend! My world, my light, my Jouta!" Kyoka said, the mischievous twinkle back in her eye.
THUMP!
Johnny pushed her off the bed.
"OW!"
"That's what you get for using that cursed name."
"Is that any way to treat a lady?!"
"Lady? You're a jackass."
"THAT'S IT!"
Earphone jacks wrapped around the back of Johnny's neck, and yanked him clean off the bed and onto the floor, and Kyoka got on top of him and began punching his chest.
"OW! KYOKA!"
The two rolled around on the floor, kicking, punching, tickling, until Johnny finally got his girlfriend in a pin.
"A-ah y-yes, the pinning of the wrists, one of the most c-cliche positions in romance anime." Kyoka said, although her face turning red indicated that despite her sass, this wasn't unfavorable. "You know, if this were a real fight, I would either stab your eyes out with my jacks, or knee you in the balls."
"You wouldn't do that though."
"You're right, I love your eyes. And...to quote Iida..."
Johnny laughed, and got off of her. "I know you Kyoka, and until I suddenly don't know you, you'll never be unforgivable."
"Really?" Kyoka asked.
"Well, now that I think about it, you did just call me the forbidden name and attacked me before I could have my coffee."
Kyoka smiled. "I can make two cups, if you want. Maybe I could also throw in waffles?"
"Immediately forgiven."
"Ha!" Kyoka grinned, and came up to Johnny's face so that their noses touched. "I know you too, JoJo. You're a sucker for caffeine...and the best thing that's ever happened to me. Thank you for understanding...seriously."
"Any other dirty little secrets we should get off our chests?"
"Nope, that's it for me."
"I may have replaced your dad's allergy pills with laxatives."
"...what?"
"What?"
"You gave my dad the shits?"
"...maybe..."
"...why?"
"He said that I needed to perform twelve labors to be worthy of you, so I decided to give him some labors...within his bowels..."
Kyoka was trying to fight back a smile. "When...when did this happen, Johnny?"
"...last night, when you guys were looking for Gyro's grills. I helped your mom carry groceries back to their house."
"That's really sweet of you, but I'm surprised my mom didn't catch you...you know..."
"She's definitely your mother, Kyoka...she may have encouraged me."
Kyoka's shoulders were visibly shaking from how hard she was trying not to laugh, and she sat down with her hands over her face.
"Oh my God...you're an honorary Jiro..."
"There's my shitty little secret. Man, it feels so good to get that off my chest. I had a hard time holding it in."
Kyoka fucking lost it.
"Pfft-HAHAHAAAA! POOR DAD! HAHAHAHA! Oooohhh...my stomach hurts, oh God...that was the best secret ever!"
"And that's how we resolved that issue." Kyoka said, still smiling.
"How did JoJo even get laxatives?!" Momo said, confused. They were currently going shopping at the mall. After Kyoka found out how hard Momo was working to find the user of Paradise City, she decided to take her best friend on a shopping spree to relax.
"I'm just going to assume he pulled a Mr. Joestar."
"Is your father alright?" Momo asked, pinching the bridge of her nose. "That was such a Gyro move, pranks, puns..."
"It's good to know that JoJo can dish them as well as he takes them." Kyoka replied. "Yeah, the old man was fine. He actually thought it was pretty funny...after he blew up the toilet, that is. He promised to get Johnny back."
"It sounds like the beginning of an interesting friendship." Momo said, smiling. "It's good to know that JoJo is getting along with your parents."
"They like him...and I'm glad. Ironically, I think it's because I couldn't keep my mouth shut around them. My mom wants to fill the void that Cummings left in his life..." Kyoka smiled, thinking about her mother's honest desire to help her boyfriend. "As if I needed further proof that our relationship is going to last, my parents basically adopted him."
"You have good parents, Kyoka." Momo said, and frowning. "I wish I could introduce you all to mine."
"Why can't you?"
"They're busy. It's not that they weren't good parents, they are! If they didn't raise me the way they did, if they hadn't taught me the values of honor and respect...I might have ended up becoming the stereotypical spoiled rich girl." Momo said, chuckling a bit at the thought.
"I feel a 'but' coming..."
"But...after I became of age to show emotional maturity, they began to focus a bit more on their jobs. It became...lonely. They didn't mean to isolate me or anything, I know that. I still had caretakers who taught me how to do things on my own...but I really missed them."
"No wonder you're so mature." Kyoka said, frowning. "You basically had to become self-reliant. I suppose it's a good thing...at least without the whole 'parents not being there' thing."
"I was home schooled too. My parents made it clear that I could be whatever I want, but if I wanted to be a hero like them, then I would need an education that public schools couldn't provide. I wanted to follow in their footsteps, and I still do, so I embraced it."
"But you never got to meet anyone else your age-"
"Until I got to UA. Until I met you."
Kyoka tilted her head. "I was really your first friend, wasn't I? At least, if you don't count your butlers and stuff."
"You were. There was just something about you, casual and a bit rowdy, but kind and understanding. Not to mention we have both struggled with our own self-worth...I just felt drawn to you." Momo said. "Now, from our connection, I have a whole group of friends, and a goofy Italian I just can't seem to stay away from."
"We've all kind of helped each other. You helped me with my image problem."
"How is that going exactly?"
"I've come to accept that I am average-looking."
Momo snorted, and Kyoka raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"You're definitely attractive Kyoka, you always sell yourself short."
"Says the fucking goddess."
"You are! Everybody sees it but you."
Kyoka turned away with a blush. "W-well, I-I did catch J-Johnny gushing about my body once..."
"Ever since you put yourself out there, I've seen a few people giving you looks." Momo said. "The only reason you never attracted anyone's attention before this point is because you hid yourself away."
"Well, I never would have found the confidence without you." Kyoka said, sincerely. "You're important to all of us, YaoMomo, so don't ever doubt your worth. You're my friend for life."
"You are too, even if you knocked out my boyfriend's teeth."
"Hey, he wanted me to hit him hard. He was literally asking for it."
"I suppose so. I had to make him new grills. Wherever the original ones went, they went far. Your Hamon is going to be pretty strong."
"Gyro said it could be Joestar-tier Hamon."
"Well, you got it from the first hero in their bloodline, not to mention you have an iron will. You're amazing, Kyoka."
"You keep giving me praise as if I'm better than you, stop. You're a genius. You're like...a Japanese girl boss Sherlock Holmes."
"...why am I oddly flattered by that?"
Johnny sat next to his father, watching TV.
It was a simple form of bonding, but effective. While he had always idolized Jotaro, and still did, the events that proceeded had brought them much closer than Johnny had ever thought possible.
At the beginning of the year, in Johnny's mind, his father had always been the unattainable. A shining, distant figure that he could aspire to, but never quite reach. Instead, he ended up surpassing Jotaro in power, and not only won his father's complete trust and faith, but also his family back.
Father and son, finally united, this time for good. There would be no backtracking, no distancing, he finally had the relationship with his dad that he always wanted.
He could tell it was what Jotaro had always wanted too. His father had become much warmer, kinder, ever since the family was reunited. He even caught the normally stoic Joestar smiling to himself a few times.
"So, Mr. Jiro called me today."
Johnny fought back a grin. "Really? What for?"
"He said that you started a war."
Johnny turned to his father, who had a 'what the hell did you do?' look on his face, and began snickering. "Don't worry Dad, he and I were just playing around."
"Don't you dare lose that girl, Johnny. She's good for you. Pissing off her parents isn't a good idea."
"We started a prank war, that's all. Her dad likes me, he's just putting on a tough guy act."
"Okay...but don't lose her."
"You seem more concerned about my love life than I am."
"A father worries...Midoriya's mom might be coming in today."
"Inko? What for?"
"Just to visit. Jiro's parents aren't the only ones who have been informed."
"Well she was directly involved in an escapade of ours, so that makes sense. Just checking up on Izuku?"
"On all of you."
"She's bringing food, isn't she?"
"Yep."
"Yare yare...I better let everyone know to grab some before Gyro gets to it."
Jotaro let out a brief chuckle. "That kid...I don't know what we would've done if you two hadn't met in that desert."
"Well I'd be dead."
Jotaro nodded, and he sighed, a sad look coming across his face. "Sometimes, it still bothers me that you got caught up in the Joestar Family's destiny. I know you're stronger than me, and you've proven yourself time and time again...but..."
"A father worries."
Jotaro nodded. "I love you Johnny, I really don't say it as often as I should, but I do. You and Jolyne are my pride and joy. You two are my purpose in this life...which brings me to what I wanted to talk to you about."
"What is it? Is something wrong?"
"We're all healing from the dent that Cummings left in the family, you know this. While it's true that her actions kind of brought us together...she still did some serious damage...particularly to your sister."
"Is something wrong with her?" Now Johnny was seriously concerned, and he sat up.
"...Jolyne spent thirteen years of her life thinking that you were dead, and that I was a scumbag. Thirteen whole years of that woman's manipulation. Now that she knows the truth, and now that she has you in her life again...I think she's afraid to move on with hers."
"I'm holding her back?" Johnny's voice came out soft. "I'm just happy to have her again...I don't want to..."
"She's holding herself back. Jolyne feels very guilty over her absence in your life, and...she basically missed your childhood Johnny, and that's something she can never get back. She doesn't want to leave you, she doesn't want to miss anything else."
Now that Johnny thought about it, her reaction to the USJ incident was basically borderline panic, and she probably volunteered to move into UA to be closer to him...
Wasn't she the person who invited Kyoka to the movies? Didn't she actively try to get them together?
His sister was trying to make up for thirteen whole years of separation, but how could you ever make up for something like that? You can't turn back time, you can only move forward.
It was as if those thirteen years were a giant pit, a canyon.
Jolyne's renewed involvement in his life was a bridge across that gap, but it seemed as though Jolyne was trying to fill the entire chasm in, so a bridge wouldn't even be needed...
But in order to fill a hole, you need dirt, and the dirt Jolyne was using was her own future, her own life. She was deathly afraid of leaving him behind, so she was denying herself the path forward.
In filling one gap, she could be creating another one, even though the bridge could be maintained, even though the bridge would hold.
"How do we help her? I love having her in my life again, yes, but she has her own life to live." Johnny pressed his lips together. "Has Anasui tried to help?"
"He is. Jolyne is keeping a secret from you...she only recently told me, and she was a mess when she did. She told Midoriya too, and he brought his concern to me. She has taken a step forward...but it's crushing her, because she doesn't want to let you go."
"She doesn't have to, she doesn't have to abandon me to live her own life."
"Then tell her that. I can't help her by myself Johnny, she needs you too." Jotaro said, and put na hand on Johnny's shoulder. "We need to fix this before she takes a step in the opposite direction...because if she does, she won't be the only person who gets hurt from it."
Johnny nodded. "Where is she?"
"Out, with Ermes..."
"When she comes back then..."
Johnny was a hero, and heroes save people first and foremost, especially the people that they loved and cherished.
And Johnny knew, more than ever, his big sister, someone who had supported and guided him ever since they were reunited, needed saving.
Kyoka held a blue top to her chest, judging how well it would suit her. "How do you think I would look in this?"
"I've noticed you have been wearing blue a bit more recently, it wouldn't have anything to do with the face that it's a certain JoJo's favorite color, right?"
"I'm not dignifying that with a response." Kyoka said, glaring at her friend.
Momo giggled. "He's been wearing more purple recently too. Why do you think his hero costume has a purple neckscarf?"
"I just like blue."
"Psychologically, people are often drawn to colors that represent-"
"Okay okay! I don't need a lecture on how JoJo is corrupting my fashion sense." Kyoka waved her friend off. "Does it look good?"
"Yes Kyoka, it would look cute on you."
"Are you su-"
"I have spoken."
Kyoka blinked. Did she just quote that little guy from the Mandolorian?
Well, Kyoka ended up buying it, and Momo bought herself a new handbag. The two exited store and went into the food court.
"This is the mall that Shigaraki threatened Izuku in, right?" Momo said, looking around. "We were having a good time until that happened."
"I went fucking nuts, I basically walked him home." Kyoka recalled.
"Oh yeah...you knew about you-know-what at that point, didn't you?"
"Yep...it was initially supposed to be JoJo, and only JoJo that knew about it, but he got hurt and I was the only person he trusted to take the reigns...funny, now we have a whole team surrounding it."
"It is funny, how things turn out sometimes."
Kyoka suddenly had a confused expression, and her eyes shifted back and forth in her bewilderment.
"Are you okay?"
"I...hear a car." Kyoka said, tilting her head. "That's weird."
"Are we near a wall that faces the street?"
"No, this food court is in the middle of the mall." Kyoka inserted a jack into the floor to get a better sound, and her eyes widened. "Momo, I hear screams."
Momo created her hero costume underneath her clothes, and ripped them off, while Kyoka pressed a button on her spiked wristband, and revealed it was actually a disguised wrist amplifier. "What has our lives come to? Putting our hero gear in our casual wear?"
"I ask myself the same thing every day."
A race car slammed through the food court, targeting Kyoka in it's warpath. Kyoka fired her amplifier at the ground, propelling herself over the car as it sped past.
The car skidded to a halt, facing them. Then, the glass dome that covered the cockpit opened...
A redhead wearing a crimson jumpsuit covered in lightning bolts emerged from the car, his handsome face grinning sadistically at them. "You move better than you used to...Jiro."
Kyoka went pale. "Hot Shot...but HOW?!"
"I escaped from prison, of course! It took months of planning, and I ended up getting shot, but I did. Luckily, I was fixed up by this doctor guy, and he fixed my face! For FREE! He also gave me a better prosthetic foot, just out of the kindness of his heart!"
Momo stepped forward. "A doctor, you say?"
"Oooooooh! Helllloooo gorgeous! Jiro, you should dress more like your friend here!"
Kyoka snarled, and pointed her wrist amplifier at Hot Shot, but Momo put a hand on her friend's fist, giving her a look that said: 'Let him talk.'
"I'm flattered, Mr. Hot Shot. Tell me...what is your relationship with my friend exactly?"
"I was hired by Santana to attack the Joestars and those associated with them, and this cutie over here was supposed to be my first victim." Hot Shot said, dangerously revving the gas on his race car. "She cheated during the fight though, defeated me with a fucking fuse box of all things."
Of course! I remember Kyoka telling me about this! Hot Shot...he's the second stand user Kyoka had beaten on her own!
"I'm better prepared this time, Hot Shot." Kyoka said, darkly. "I've also changed since we last fought, I'm not the same person. Leave...or I'll fuck up your face all over again."
"I won't lie, I'm pretty turned on by that." Hot Shot replied. "But I'm not here on Santana's orders this time...this time, I'm gonna get some good old fashioned revenge, and maybe a little taste of your pretty little friend while I'm at it...hell, why not both of you?"
Momo made a face of disgust, and created a rifle, loading it with a special type of bullet. "No information on this doctor? Fine, how about we arrest you for destruction of private property? Or even worse...the endangerment of innocent civilians?"
Hot Shot put on his racing helmet, and got back in his car, Don't Stop Me Now hovering above the vehicle as it's user prepared to give them a quick death. "Dead or alive, it makes no difference. I'm gonna enjoy this! Kyoka Jiro, Tits McGee...let's ride!"
Gyro examined his new grills in his phone.
"Did she make these out of real gold? What the hell happened to 'preserving the economy'?" Gyro sighed, grinning. "Buon Dolore...she's trying too hard."
"JOLYNE! WAIT!"
Gyro looked up from his phone just as Jolyne Kujo sprinted past him. For just a brief moment, their eyes met...
Jolyne looked like she was crying, hard. Her eyes gave off a mixture of sadness and fear, and gave Gyro the impression that she might have just had a mental breakdown.
Gyro was about to say her name, but she just kept running, and she didn't stop until she was out of sight. Johnny fell to his knees beside his partner.
"JOLYNE! DAMN IT! COME BACK!"
"Jo-"
"JOLYYYYYYNE!"
"Johnny, I don't know what the hell happened, but she's long gone." Gyro knelt beside Johnny and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "She didn't look like she was in her right mind at the moment..."
"I asked her what she was hiding from me...and she just started running..." Johnny said, both emotional and out of breath.
"What happened?" Gyro was quick to comfort him. "When did you get the idea that Jolyne was hiding something from you?"
Johnny explained his conversation with his father, and Gyro's face went from sympathetic, to angry, and finally settled on worry. "It always comes back to your shit mom, huh?"
"Except I'm not the damaged one this time...Jolyne is. She isn't ready for whatever it is she's hiding from me, all because my mom behave her the world's worst case of separation anxiety. Jolyne always said she had gotten over it, and I guess in a way she did...but...how could I have been so blind?!"
"We all wanted to believe that out of the two of you, Jolyne was the one affected the least. She was the strong sibling that could help you get through the bad times...but she was hurt by what Susan did, your whole family was..."
"She said she was fine..."
"She was...until the time came to take some sort of step away from you. It seems like she's going to take this step regardless, we all know she isn't the type to back down...but telling you is probably killing her."
"I can't rest until we clear this up."
"I know, listen, this is happening because Jolyne loves you so much. She's pretty considerate...would it be too much to assume she isn't telling you because she's afraid of your reaction?"
"What could she say that would make me react negatively?"
"You've been hurt many times, hell, recently you almost lost Kyoka...she's afraid the next blow might come from her."
"..."
"She'll tell you eventually, Johnny...give her time."
Johnny pulled out his phone and shot his sister a text.
Horseshoe: I'm sorry, I won't ask again...please come back...
Spidey: No, I'm the one that needs to apologize. You did nothing wrong Johnny...I just need to be alone right now.
Horseshoe: Okay, I love you Jolyne, no matter what it is.
Spidey: I love you too Johnny.
Johnny sighed and put away his phone, and Gyro sat beside him, rubbing his back. "I know you're worried about her Johnny, but your sister is just as strong as you are. She'll work up the courage eventually, all you need to do is be patient with her."
"God dammit, I hate how your advice makes so much sense." Johnny said, cracking a smile. "I guess it should, I wouldn't be alive without it."
"That's because I'm smart."
"I hate how I can't even refute that statement. I'll give Jolyne time...but I want to hear it eventually, from her."
"I know you will."
Kyoka used her new technique to hop out of the way of the speeding racer, barely ducking out of the way of a flying chair.
She called it Heartbeat Blip. It was essentially a weaker version of Heartbeat Bounce, fired from her wrists. It was only fired in short bursts, so Kyoka could control it, but it gave her some resemblance of maneuverability.
She only really used it when she didn't have her grappling hooks, and since she was using a single backup amplifier, these short little bursts of speed were the only thing keeping her from becoming roadkill.
Momo, on the other hand, was running along the battlefield, creating road spikes around the car, laying pins and tacs so the tires would pop if he got too far away from where they wanted him to be, effectively trapping the race car where they wanted it, and preventing it from reaking more havoc on the mall.
The race car suddenly produced Don't Stop Me Now, and the stand turned it's mantis-esque head towards the smashed tables and chairs...
Next thing the heroes knew, a ramp had formed from the debris, and the race car ramped over Momo's barrier. Momo, despite being shocked, fired her rifle, which was filled to the brim with small needles, and fired at it. Unfortunately, she didn't hit her intended target. "Shoot...JoJo would've hit that."
"Aiming for the tires?" Kyoka said, out of breath from playing chicken with a high speed vehicle.
"Yes, however, my aim isn't the best. We need a ride of our own."
"I agree, although I wouldn't recommend creating a race car, that would probably kill you."
"I'm aware, although I could create the parts. I have a different idea..."
Momo pointed at a car parked in the now exposed parking lot, Don't Stop Me Now had obliterated a wall in it's attempt to kill Kyoka, and another old enemy of theirs was getting out...
The old man who had bound Kyoka and Johnny together with The Chain...
Without another word, Kyoka sprinted towards the guy who had sort of helped her get a boyfriend. The old man's eyes widened in recognition. "You-"
BONK!
The old man fell to the ground, screaming. Kyoka had hit him over the head with a water bottle. Kyoka threw open the door to the old man's car, and took a look at the angry stand user. "Sorry, hero business, we are commandeering this vehicle...and by the way, the guy you attached me to is my boyfriend now, so thanks!"
"FUCK YO-OOF!"
Momo had stepped on the guy on her way into the vehicle. "That was for putting my friends in danger."
"I'll get my reve-AAAAAAAGH!"
Kyoka had slammed the car door on his hand. Wrenching his hand free, their former enemy just sat on the ground in defeat. "Hot Shot breaks me out of prison, only to be humiliated again...by the same girl..."
Kyoka opened the window. "Can we have your keys?"
A set of keys was thrown at her, violently, but Kyoka simply caught them in her palm and started the car, and began driving straight into the mall.
"waaaaaaaAaAAaaAAAAHHH!" The villain began bawling, dramatically flailing his arms, being as over-the-top emotional as possible.
Hot Shot laughed maniacally as he drove straight into a Sephora, sending makeup and mannequins everywhere.
"JIRRRRROOOOOOO, WHERE ARE YOOOOOU?! I'VE GOT RUBBER WITH YOUR NAME ON IT!"
THUMP!
Hot Shot turned to see a car had collided with the side of his, being driven by the girl he was looking for. Hot Shot grinned, and slammed her right back, causing Kyoka's car to veer wildly.
"KYOKA, CAREFUL!" Momo screamed.
"I'M. NOT. AN EXPERIENCED. DRIVER!" Kyoka yelled as she wrenched the steering wheel back towards Hot Shot. Momo took aim with her rifle, but Don't Stop Me Now manifested inside of their car, and batted the rifle and Momo at the exact same time, causing it to fire straight into Kyoka's shoulder.
Momo, on the other hand, crashed through the passenger's door, and was now hanging outside of the car, the handle of the door being the only thing keeping her from becoming a splatter on the ground.
With one jack, Kyoka stabbed Don't Stop Me Now in the head, and used the other to give Momo something to grab onto. Momo barely managed to grab onto Kyoka's jack just as the handle snapped off, and Kyoka grunted in pain as she used her jack to pull her best friend back inside.
Good thing...these have been getting...stronger!
Kyoka finished pulling Momo inside the car just as both vehicles crashed out of the clothing store and into the mall, smashing into a...
Toy store...yeah, a toy store.
Kyoka blushed and screamed as several lewd objects filled the car from the open door, and Momo created a riot shield to prevent them from getting pelted. Hot Shot only seemed to be further enthralled by their sudden change of scenery, cackling at Kyoka's embarrassment.
Momo, still shaken by her brush with death, smashed the windshield of their own car with the shield.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Kyoka yelled.
"HE HATES YOU RIGHT?!"
"YES?!"
"I'LL TAKE THE WHEEL, AND BRING YOU IN CLOSE. I'M SURE YOU'VE WATCHED BULL FIGHTS BEFORE?!"
Kyoka realized what her friend was implying, and nodded. She climbed out onto the hood of their car, struggling to keep her balance, as Momo put her foot on the gas, catching up with Hot Shot.
Hot Shot, still recovering from the jack to the head, jumped as a foreign object landed on the hood of his car. Kyoka had jumped from one vehicle to the other, and raised her fist, threatening to punch through the windshield.
Don't Stop Me Now put up it's fists, but Hot Shot heard something snap.
Kyoka's punch was a fakeout, she had actually snuck a jack under the glass dome, and had used it to rip out his brakes.
Hot Shot looked at his ruined brakes, and then at Kyoka, who was grinning. "You bitch..."
"Don't worry, you'll live, although you might be out of commission for a while." Kyoka looked at the fast approaching brick wall that signified that it was the mall that led to outside. "As I said before: slow and steady wins the race, jackass. Happy crashing!"
Kyoka jumped back onto the other car while Hot Shot was contemplating his impending car accident, and he turned towards them and summoned Don't Stop Me Now one more time, intending to give Kyoka an instantaneous push before he went down.
Except Momo got her hands on the needle gun while the stand off was happening, and had already popped one of the tires. Don't Stop Me Now was pulled away as the race car spun out of control.
"JIRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
CRASH!
As paramedics/police came to take Hot Shot and his frankly useless accomplice away, Kyoka had finished removing the needle from her arm, and was cleaning her wound. "Ouch..."
"Well, that turned into a nightmare quickly." Momo muttered. "Here we were, having a nice girl's day out."
"At least Hot Shot didn't really fuck me up this time." Kyoka said. "Although he attacked me in a store last time too."
Momo began to giggle, and Kyoka looked at her inquisitively. "What's so funny?"
"The way you screamed when we crashed into the adult store...hahaha!"
Kyoka blushed, and looked to the side. "You know I get flustered around that stuff..."
"I'm sorry, hahaha, it's just so funny!"
Kyoka joined in, and the two just sat there, laughing at Kyoka's admittedly comical reaction.
After they were done, they checked in with the police, and they learned that while Hot Shot was still alive, the crash had ruined his face all over again, and he was to receive a heavier prison sentence for the reattempt on Kyoka's life.
Fitting.
As the two girls began walking back to UA, with them promising to ask Josuke to help clean up the mall, Kyoka sighed. "I'm sorry."
"What for?"
"It was just supposed to be us hanging out...so you could detox from the whole Paradise City and the mysterious doctor situation. Instead, one of my old enemies ruined it."
"Kyoka...any time spent with you is detoxing enough. It's who you are." Momo said, smiling. "Despite our lives being in danger towards the end...I still had fun, and I got a new handbag I really like, it was a success."
Kyoka's mouth opened and closed, she honestly didn't know how to respond, so next thing she knew, she had her arms wrapped around her surprised friend. Momo returned the hug, and a quiet, meaningful moment passed between the two.
A peaceful, quiet moment between two lifelong friends, after they just wrecked a JCPenny.
It was beautiful.
Jolyne stood over Susan's grave with her hands clenched.
"I never really got to talk with you when you were alive, Kyoka finished you off before I got any closure..."
The grave was silent, which was a good thing. The last thing she needed to hear was that woman's voice.
"I trusted you completely, after all, you were the only parent who was around, I had no reason to doubt you."
Jolyne walked over, and knelt down.
"I loved you, more than anyone else. I looked up to you, you were my hero...and then...I found out you were lying to me my whole life. Every single thing I thought I ever knew changed when I went to prison...do you know what that did to me?"
Jolyne leaned in closer, as if expecting a response.
"And still, I tried to give you a second chance. There was no way the kind, loving woman who raised me could be a monster, right? WRONG! YOU WERE! YOU WERE A HORRIBLE STINKING PILE OF SHIT!" Jolyne punched the ground, right where Susan's face would be if her casket was unearthed.
"I wonder, do you feel shame? Down in hell? I hope you do, and I hope that shame eats away at you for eternity. I hope that you hear this, I hope you know just how badly you FUCKED ME UP! I CANT EVEN TELL MY BROTHER I'M GETTING MARRIED, SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE HAPPY, AND IT'S ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT!"
Jolyne began punching the ground in a rage. "I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU! DO YOU HEAR ME, YOU SORRY EXCUSE FOR A MOTHER?! I HATE YOU! YOU WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER OUNCE OF LOVE FROM ME AGAIN!"
A hand was placed on her shoulder, and Jolyne turned around in surprise.
"G-Gramps?"
Joseph was kneeling beside her, holding a smashed camera. He had used Hermit Purple to find her upon hearing about what had happened. "Hi Jolyne..."
Jolyne, her hands covered in dirt, and her face stained with tears, gritted her teeth and crushed her great-grandfather in a hug. "I...I don't know what's wrong with me..."
"You've spent so long helping your brother cope with his trauma, you never really bothered to look at your own." Joseph said, hugging her tighter. "You're scared of pursuing your own future, because deep down...you still see Johnny as the vulnerable little boy you have to protect. He's strong now...he doesn't need either of us anymore."
"I just came back into his life, Gramps...after thirteen years...and..."
"If you think a marriage is all it takes to destroy a familial bond, then you're wrong. You supported Johnny when he was going through his own issues, when he was going through big changes...it's time to let him support you."
"I'm just so scared...this is going to change things, that can't be denied..."
"Is change always a bad thing?"
"...no..."
"The only thing that will never change is our love for one another. Johnny will be happy for you, I guarantee it. Trust me...I know how you feel. It took me years to accept that Johnny was growing up, and even now I still think I have to watch over him. I don't...he's grown past Susan, and he doesn't need someone to hold his hand anymore."
"I guess...compared to all of the other things he's been though, his sister getting married wouldn't be a big deal...huh?" Jolyne said, and Joseph nodded.
"Your father has already learned to embrace the future, as has your brother. It's time for us to move on...all of us, including me. You should tell Johnny the truth, and let him be strong for you."
"Can you and Dad be there?"
"Yes, always..."
"Thank you..."
As Joseph led Jolyne away from Susan's grave, he looked back towards it and narrowed his eyes.
"While your death at Jiro's hands was fitting...I wish I could resurrect you and kill you myself for what you did to my family. Although I have to ask you the same question that Jolyne did: are you ashamed?"
As Joseph walked away with his great-granddaughter, a weed growing next to the grave began to wilt.
