I: Mew

A green snake with a pale underbelly and short, stubby legs would walk over to a large, oversized and particularly wide sloth, who was behind a wooden cart, perhaps half his size, who was in the shade of a large pine tree, the shadow casting long past the two. Even as early as it was, the warmth of the sun could still be felt upon them.

"Hello, nice to see you around town again, Mr. Slaking. How was the trip? Anything interesting?" The Snivy has olive leaf hands and a similar tail leaf, with a long, yellow chest protrusion similar to a Servine, yet smaller in size. They stood up tall, or as tall as their curved body would allow for.

"I've been just fine. Nothing-" The Slaking would yawn. "...Too interesting. A great idea your parents had, though. Give them my thanks. Anyway, what brings you here today, young one?" Slaking would sit up as Snivy nods along. "Just needed 5 Oran Berries, that's all." "That'll be 25 dollars then." Snivy would give them several small copper pieces. "Here ya go. Also, would you happen to have the scarf?"

The slaking sighed. "Yeah, yeah. I got one. Ain't much though, or the one you were goin' for. I won't botha chargin' ya. Not too valuable. Still somethin' at least." The slaking would pull some oran berries from their cart, and a small green scarf, putting it in a leather bag. They tied the open sack with a red ribbon, a large, curved, black dorsal feather in the loop. "Guessin' it's been cold lately, yea?" Snivy would nod. "Bit cold, mostly in the mountains, but sometimes here too. Thank you, Slaking." "No problem. I'll try an' find the scarf you're lookin' for, then we can talk. Then ya return this one, then buy the new one. Sounds good?"

"Of course! Thank you, sir!" "Course kid- good luck!" The Snivy would bristly make their way from the cart. Let's see… The trip to Slaking is done at least. And no one from the guild needed that watery orb he had… They'd look up to see the small row of houses, mostly small wood huts. Right. I'll need something for lunch today as well… Hm. Maybe after I talk to mom. I still need to see if I can take the exam… He'd walk past the road, instead turning towards a small spherical building, walking inside.

It was a barren, empty room with a wooden floor, several cogs showing inside above the surface connected to a circular platform, and an iron metal rod."Hey Snives." A pink sheep with white wool stood on two legs next to the metal rod. "Ya could've just slept here ya know… Why's it that you never stay here anyway? Can't see a reason why." The wool was rather straight, with no knots or curls, instead sticking straight out."

"Just a few errands. I'd have to come up first anyway, so I stayed topside. I shouldn't be bringing all of this with me today anyway when there are older berries that need to be used." Flaaffy shook their head, leaning on the wall. "Sure, I'll take it. Just, stay safe kid. Just because you're all so talented and trained doesn't make up for being some loner" They'd hold onto the metal rod, and a spark would fly from their body to their hand, travelling down to the rod. As they let go, the circular platform would sink into the ground. The elevator system was supported by oak beams coated by around half a centimeter of iron, and large bricks of stone layered the walls.

The main hub was more of a small hallway, on one side several dorms and a singular office, and on the other end there were two maps, one of the town, and one of the charted region. Alongside these two maps, there was a bounty board, and several rows of storage lockers. Snivy would enter the door farthest from the elevator, nodding to a Joltik hanging onto a metal rod similar to the one at the top of the elevator, which shocked their own respective lever, raising the platform behind him.

Snivy stood in front of two Serperiors, one slightly longer in length, and with their green and yellow protrusions nearly folded outwards. The other had no leaves on the spine of their tail, and also had a distinct lack of horn-like leaves coming from their head. Behind the two was a single desk, piled with paperwork, and bookshelves on either side. There was also a scheduling board, but the calendar could barely be seen through all the paper notices in front of it, some old and wrinkled from age. A single circular window with a dark, wooden cross section was behind the desk, facing a deep green forest from the cliffside. "Thank you for having me here. I would like to-"

"It's not happening." The longer one spoke up, with a soft, yet deeper voice, slithering closer to the two-legged green snake. "Father. You know I can do so much more- Please, just this once. I know you're worried about me, but I'll be okay."

"I'm not going to see you get killed out there! We're just looking out for you." The shorter one would take a breath. "...Sorry. Even with your excellent abilities, you don't even meet any of the requirements for any kind of promotion." The father spoke again. "Honey, we've been over this already. There are rules in place to help protect everyone in our guild, and everyone will be subject to them. We can't afford to give you or anyone else special treatment. This isn't just a heavy suggestion. Get that through your head."

"Yet I could easily pass the exam by myself, couldn't I?" They'd look up at the two. "That's not the point Snivy. Now. We made sure we picked out the most difficult mission that you're qualified for, so at least there's that." One of them would hand the slip to the snivy with a vine extending from their body, placing it in his hands. "And please. Try and find someone you're willing to tolerate."

"No promises." The snivy would sigh, reading the slip of paper:

HELP WANTED

Berries

"Huh… At least this isn't asking me to escort someone…" They'd nod. "I guess I'll get started then." The snivy would turn on their heel, and walk out of the office into the main hub. Snivy would go up to one of the lockers lined along one of the walls. Let's see… Food for the road, an escape orb… Spikes would be great, but that's always out of the question. Can't grip them at all... Besides, I'd need to buy them to begin with. Is there really anything else?

"Hey little bud- How'd it go?" He turned around, looking up at Blaziken, who stylized their hair in two braids, and with long fur, some of which would drag on the ground slightly. This hair was braided out of the way of the front of Blaziken's feet. "Eh. They finally put their foot down. It was a matter of time." he'd sigh. Blaziken would kneel down, patting his head. "It's just fine! I'm sure you'll find someone who'd want to team up with you in no time!" "Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm sure it'll all work out…" Totally will. It's not like no one is where I'm at and not in a team already.

"It doesn't have to be someone here, ya know. You could reach out to people outside the guild if you really wanted to." Snivy tilted their head. "I'm not worried about that." Blaziken would stand up. "If you say so. But who knows? Might be the best way to get somewhere." they would then walk off, leaving Snivy to browse for items in their locker.
