A/N: The poll is closed with Reincarnated as the winner. There's another one for my Shinobi on Board for the pairing, then after that, there'll be another for this story on the pairing. Then finally when starting season 3 of USM there'll be a chose a new story poll.
Now, I know this is fanfiction and I can make Coco Bi or straight to have her in the pairing, I just wanted your opinion on the matter. Same for Nora as being on this site I know messing with canon/fan-favorite pairings don't go over real well. (I have experience with pairing Artemis with Naruto instead of Wally in my Young Justice story)
And I've definitely seen backlash with making a gay person at the very least Bi to have them be with the MC who's the opposite gender. BUT you can make straight characters gay for real hardcore stuff and no one complains about that (And I mean the ones who'll read those stories/continue to read if that wasn't the main pairing.)
Chapter IV.
Last Time.
"Good! Now, take your positions."
Everyone strikes a pose on their tile. Nora crouches low, Ren wields his weapons, Yang raises her fists, Ruby readies her body, Naruto bent his knees, and Jaune is still raising his hand.
"Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question." He said and misses the tile under Weiss rising into a springboard, sending her into the air and over the forest, as the platforms activate down the line sending other students flying. "So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?"
Ozpin took another drink at that before replying. "No. You will be falling."
Jaune looked confused as he missed more students being thrown into the forest. "Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?"
"No. You will be using your own 'landing strategy.'" Ozpin replied nonchalantly.
Jaune still not seeing an excited Nora and Ren getting launched nodded. "Uh-huh... Yeah."
Yang winks at her younger sister, puts on a pair of aviators, and flies off at her turn. "Woo-hoooooooo!"
She was then followed by Ruby and Naruto. "So, what exactly is a landing strategYYY!" Jaune yelled as he was flung into the air.
Now.
Emerald Forest.
Naruto fell towards the forests before pulling Fox Bolt And took a shot. The recoil slowed him down before he got to the top of a tree then put the rifle over his shoulder, grabbed a limb, and swung to one on the bottom and ran across limbs before jumping to a lower tree then jumped off a limb and landed in a roll.
He then stood up and rolled his shoulder before hearing a growl.
Looking back, he saw a creature growling at him. It looks like a bear with black fur and bony spikes on his backs and arms, as well as white, bone-like masks with red detailing,
Naruto cracked his neck and pulled Sage and Shusui. "Haven't fought an Ursa for awhile… This should be fun!"
Naruto ran at the beast and took several shots before his weapons suddenly changed into combat knives with rings at the guard. He flipped over the Ursa and had his knives still shoot before landing then side flipped out of the way of a strike. Naruto then leaned back and fell on his back to avoid another strike. He kipped up and got on one knee before stabbing the Ursa in the neck having it growl before falling on the side and turned to dust.
"(Sigh.) I hate Grimm." Naruto sighed before hearing a scream.
Looking up, he saw a teen boy flying to him. "What the fu-!" He stopped as the teen crashed into him. "Ow…"
Naruto sat up before looking at the teen. He has spiky salmon-colored hair, eyes, before opening his mouth to show he had fangs. He has a muscular frame and is wearing a white scarf that looks like dragon scales, light brown and green leather vest that's openly showing his six-pack, light brown leather fingerless gloves.
He also has blue belted jeans with a big silver buckle and green leather chaps with two brown leather straps tied to his left foot and red flame-like designs. He also wears light brown steel-capped leather cowboy boots with spurs. His weapon is gauntlets like Yang's but red and has a sharp edge on them with two dragon claws on top of each.
"Watch where you're going!" The teen yelled at Naruto.
"You fell into me, you idiot!" Naruto yelled at him while both teens stood. "It looks like we're teammates. I'm Naruto Uzumaki."
"Natsu Dragneel."
"Well, let's find the temple."
Natsu nodded at that before both started to walk in the woods while hearing gunshots.
Farther Away.
"Birdie, no!"
Ruby yelled out as she flew into a blackbird. She then pulled Crescent Rose out and fires off a few rounds to slow her down, then turns the weapon into its scythe form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace from a spin.
Several yards away, Weiss, armed with Myrtenaster, summons a white snowflake circle under her and leaps off of it to the forest below.
Farther away, Ren descends and spins in the air, eventually using Storm Flower's blades to spiral around the trunk of a large tree and hit the ground, brushing off his clothes before looking up to see Yang flying overhead.
"Woo-hoo! Yeah! Alley-oop!"
Yang soars right over the treetops, had her bracelets turn into gauntlets, and had it shoot out a shotgun blast having the force push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashes through the leaves of a tree and leaps off two trunks to tumble to the ground.
"Nailed it!" She yelled while rolling before running off.
In the air, Pyrrha, her weapon in sword form and armed with a shield, crashes through several trees and rolls on a branch, immediately shifting her blade into a rifle and looking through the scope at Jaune as he continues to scream and fall. Pyrrha coolly transforms her weapon again to its spear form, takes a moment to evaluate her throw, and rockets the javelin deep into the forest. A moment passed before she heard a noise.
THUNK!
"Thank you!" Jaune yelled over as she waved.
"I'm sorry!"
Ruby Rose.
In the middle of the forest, Ruby lands in a crouch then darts off. 'Gotta find Yang! Gotta find Yang, gotta find Yang, gotta find…' She thinks to herself before yelling out. "Yang! Yaaaang!" She then sighed before thinking to herself again. 'Oh, this is bad, this is really bad... What if I can't find her? What if someone finds her first? Well, there's always Jaune. He's nice. He's funny! I don't think he's very good in a fight, though. Ooh! What about Blake?!'
'So mysterious, so calm... Plus she likes books! Then again, I'm not sure I'd be able to hold a conversation with her... Ugh! Oh, Naruto! He helped me out when we met Ozpin!'
She smiled to herself and intent on finding Naruto, opened her mouth. And skids to a halt in front of Weiss as she is turning to face her. She stops just in time for their eyes to meet. After a moment, Weiss turns on her heel and walks the other way. Ruby took several steps after Weiss. "Wait! Where are you going?!" She then stops and kicks the ground. "We're supposed to be teammates…"
A moment goes by before Weiss walked back, and pulled on Ruby's hood to drag her. "By no means does this make us friends."
Ruby threw her hands in the air with a large smile. "You came back!"
Just up ahead, Jaune is stuck on a tree as Pyrrha's spear s imbedded into his hood
"Jaune?"
Jaune looks down to see Pyrrha looking up at him, arms crossed. "Do you... have any spots left on your team?"
Jaune crossed his arms at that. "Very funny..." He trailed off before looking down at her and gives a smile, which she returns.
A mile ahead, Weiss trudging through the forest, has Ruby following a little behind her. "What's the hurry?"
"I will not let my mission be delayed because you're too slow! I swear if I get a bad grade because of your-!" She trailed as she looks to see a smiling Ruby suddenly appearing next to her. "What the...?"
"I'm not slow, see? You don't have to worry about me!" Ruby chipped out closing her eyes in a wider smile.
Weiss looked back where Ruby was, slightly amazed. "When did...?"
"Weiss, just because I don't exactly know how to deal with people doesn't mean I don't know how to deal with monsters!" Ruby then puts an arm around a skeptical Weiss' shoulders. "You're about to see a whole different side of me today, Weiss, and after it's all over, you're going to be like, 'Wow! That Ruby girl is really, really cool... and I wanna be her friend!"
She then disappears in a shower of rose petals, which Weiss waves away from her face just as she hears crackling and rustling in the bushes around her. "You may be fast, but you still excel at wasting time!" After a moment of no response, Weiss then looked ahead where Ruby ran off in. "Ruby?" She asked pushing limbs out of the way and saw red glowing eyes. "Ruby...?"
Multiple pairs of red eyes stare at her from the bushes and a deep growl is heard. She turns around until she spots a large Grimm emerging from a bush and approaching her.
It's a werewolf creature with bones on its body as well as a mask.
"RUBY!"
Weiss yelled out just as Naruto landed on it holding a black trident with an orange forkhead before stabbing the creature through the neck.
Natsu ran out hitting another having shotgun blasts come out of his gauntlets before uppercutting it having a hole appear in its head.
"You OK?" Naruto asked pulling his trident out and had it turn into Fox Bolt and walked over.
Yang.
"Helloooooooo?" Yang yelled, with her sunglasses put away... "Is anyone out there? Helloooooooo? I'm getting bored here."
Rustle!
"Is someone there?" She asked as she heard rustling. She walked over and looked through the bushes. "Ruby is that you?"
(Snarl)
She then looked up as she heard snarling. "Nope." She said looking at an Ursa.
Yang then dived out of the way of a swipe before the Ursa jumped forward intend on slicing her. Immediately readyingEmber Celica, Yang intercepts another Ursa's lunge before the first jumps at her.
BANG!
And she sends it flying with a shot to the gut. The second one soon follows, and Yang uses her gauntlet's recoil to propel her through the air to deal a strong kick to the other Ursa, sending it back as well.
"You guys wouldn't happen to see a girl in a red hood, would you? Or a smoking hot blonde-haired boy?" Yang asked jokingly.
(Growl!)
"Could just say no!" Yang yelled as the first Ursa gets back up and swipes at her.
"Hyuh!" Yang easily backflips out of the way. "Geez, you two couldn't hit the broad side of a bar..." She trailed off seeing a gold strand of hair float down in front of her. "(Sigh.) You..." She said, eyes turning red. "You monster!" She yelled as fire covered her for a second.
Infuriated, Yang dashes for the Ursa that grazed her hair. She proceeds to first launch the Ursa into the air with an uppercut, and a barrage of bullet-enhanced punches at staggering speeds. "Hyaaaaaah!" She sends the Ursa flying back before closely following after it. This barrage ends when Yang delivers a particularly powerful punch that sends it through multiple trees and leaves a trail of fire behind it in the process.
With the first Ursa out of the picture, Yang immediately turns her attention to the second. "What? You want some too?!" She asked purposely provoking it.
However, before either can act, the Ursa falls over dead, with Gambol Shroudin its kusari-gama form embedded in the back of its shoulders. Blake is revealed standing behind the fallen Ursa and casually retrieves her weapon by yanking the ribbon.
"I could have taken him."
Weiss, Natsu, And Naruto.
Weiss used Myrtenaster to block a strike from a Beowolf's claw, with the force of the blow causing her to slide back a good distance. 'Remember your training Weiss. Head up, shoulders back, right foot forward, not that forward. Slow your breati-!' She stopped her thoughts as Naruto jumped on the Ursa and slammed his knife in the skull.
BANG!
And pulled the trigger before jumping off to cut into another Beowolf as Natsu hits it in the stomach. Weiss assumes her combat stance and sets Myrtenaster's revolver to the red Dust slot.
She then dashes forward, aiming to kill a Beowolf that is much larger than the others, directly in front of her. Much to her surprise, Ruby suddenly appears right in front of her and strikes the creature with Crescent Rose before Weiss can reach the Beowolf, and the large Beowolf puts its arms up to block Ruby's strike.
"Gotcha!"
Hastily diverting her strike, Weiss ends up sending a wave of fire towards where Naruto was standing before he jumped out of the way. The fire then hits a tree and sets it on fire. Ruby, who is distracted by the sudden burst of flames, is hit by the Beowolf she attacked and knocked into Weiss.
"Hey, watch it!" Ruby yelled out as she stood up.
"Excuse me, you attacked out of turn. I could have killed you."
"You'll have to try a lot harder than that," Ruby said looking at the group of Grimm.
Naruto threw his knife that hit one Beowolf in the side of the head before turning to throw the other knife in its chest. He dashed over and grabbed Sage and Shusui.
After a quick argument, the girls prepare to face off against the pack of Grimm once more; however, they are suddenly forced to stop because the fire from Weiss' diverted strike has spread, causing several burning trees to fall. As the Beowolves retreat from the area, Weiss grabs Ruby and pulls her away as well.
Naruto flipped over a burning tree and caught up with the girls. "You two alright?" He asked as Natsu puts Ignis Scales in bracelet form having the claws be pulled into it slightly.
"Yeah, thanks," Weiss said after they panted.
"What was that?! That should've been easy!" Ruby yelled out as Weiss looked to her teammate.
"Well perhaps if you exercised even the slightest amount of caution with the placement of your strikes, I wouldn't have set the forest on fire!"
"(Scoffs) What's that supposed to mean?"
"I'm just surprised that someone who talks so much would communicate so little during an encounter," Weiss said throwing her arms out.
"Well, I'm sorry that you needed my help during a fight."
"We're all on the same side here. Helping each other is what we do." Naruto said getting the girl's attention. "So let's save the angry for the Grimm."
"Yeah, and let's get to the temple!" Natsu yelled as he ran forward, having Naruto and Weiss follow.
Ruby then cuts down a tree in anger. All of them missing a giant black feather fall to the ground.
Jaune And Pyrrha.
BANG! BANG!
"You hear that?" Jaune asked as he and Pyrrha hear gunshots.
"Gunfire. It seems some of our comrades have encountered the enemy." Pyrrha replied walking past a tree branch. And had it hit Jaune.
"Jaune, I'm sorry," Pyrrha said to Jaune who got up.
"Heh. It's okay. Just a scratch."
"Why didn't you activate your Aura?"
"Huh?" Jaune asked staring at the redhead.
"Your Aura."
"Gesundheit."
"Jaune, do you know what Aura is?" Pyrrha asked as she stood in front of the blonde.
"(Scoffs) Of course I do… Do you know what Aura is?"
"Aura is the manifestation of our soul. It bears our burdens and shields our hearts. Have you ever felt like you were being watched without knowing that someone was there?" She asked getting Jaune to nod.
"Uh, yeah."
"With practice, our Aura can be our shield/ Everyone has it. Even animals."
"What about monsters?" Jaune asked Pyrrha who started to walk.
"No, the monsters we fight lack a soul. They are Creatures of Grimm. The manifestation of anonymity. They are the darkness and we are the light."
"Right," Jaune said following after his teammate. "That's why we fight them."
"It's not about why it's about knowing. Understanding both dark and light helps us manifest our Aura. Everyone has some of both. By bearing your soul outwards as a force you can deflect harm. All of our tools and equipment are our conduits for Aura. You project yourself and your soul with fighting."
"It's like a forcefield!" Jaune exclaimed after Pyrrha finished.
"Yes, if you want to look at it that way," Pyrrha said putting her weapons away and walked over. "Now, close your eyes and concentrate."
"Uhh… Okay." Jaune said as Pyrrha put her hand on his cheek.
Pyrrha utilizes her aura to unlock Jaune's, which immediately heals his cut.
'… For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all. Infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder protect thee.'
After they finished, she seems somewhat drained by the experience but recovers a few moments later. "Pyrrha?!"
"It's alright, I used my Aura to unlocks yours, but the energy that protects you now is your own. You have a lot of it."
Lie Ren.
Ren was walking in the woods before stopping as a large snake-like creature rose out of tall grass.
It's a very large Grimm, easily dwarfing Ren. It sports many fangs in its jaws, with a long, black forked tongue to boot. It has two halves, a black one and a white one, that are joined in the center.
The black half is primarily black in color, though it does contain a few speckles of white on its underbelly, as well as some isolated areas along its body. Its color scheme is very similar to that of the Beowolves and Ursa. It has large, blood-red eyes and a white bony covering with red markings on the top of its head.
The white half is essentially the inverse of the black half. It also has large, blood-red eyes; however, the bony covering on the top of its head is a primarily deep gray with red markings. Also, toward the end of its body, its scales appear to have a checkerboard design of gray and white, before turning black and white, then turning completely black as the other half's design comes into play.
The black half attacked with two large strikes with its head. Ren avoids the first and blocks the second, sending him sliding a good distance. The snake-like Grimm immediately coils itself around Ren, prompting the Huntsman-in-training to draw Storm Flower.
As the King Taijitu continues to coil around him in an attempt to smother him, Ren leaps upwards and narrowly escapes the snake's efforts. While in midair, he fires many rounds from his weapon, and when the Grimm retaliates, he kicks it in the face.
As the Grimm starts to get up from the hit, Ren closes in and cuts it with one of the blades on Storm Flower. Managing to get up anyways, the King Taijitu gains some distance before making a fast charge at Ren. Ren jumps over the strike, which was so fierce the impact zone began to splinter and crumble
Using the momentum from his jump, Ren lands on the King Taijitu's head, impaling it with both bladed ends of Storm Flower. The white end of the King Taijitu becomes active, and strikes at Ren, forcing him to gain distance. Both heads of the King Taijitu become active and move in concert to attempt to kill Ren.
Using their smooth scales as a makeshift slide, Ren moves around the coiled mess, dodging strikes and firing his pistols. Eventually, the white head finds an opening and hits Ren out of the air, also causing him to drop Storm Flower. Immediately following up, the blackhead dives at Ren with its mouth open. Projecting his Aura as a shield, Ren manages to block the King Taijitu's charge.
Grasping at the fangs in the Grimm's open mouth, he tears both fangs right out of their sockets. Despite its pain, the blackhead attempts another charge at Ren, but he easily dodges and stabs one of the fangs into the King Taijitu's eye. Swiftly, Ren deals a vicious palm strike, charged with Aura, to the fang in the creature's eye.
The force is so great that the fang acts like a bullet, surging through the King Taijitu's skull, utterly destroying it and effectively killing the black side. He then dashes toward the white end with a slash.
After The Battle.
"Qrrraaww! Qrrraaww!"
After Ren slays the beasts, Nora calls out to him using her "sloth call" before swinging upside-down from a nearby tree.
"I still don't think that's what a sloth sounds like," Ren comments as Nora tapped his nose.
"Boop." Nora merely replies, earning a smile from Ren.
