Chapter XXIV.
Last Time.
"The journey will be perilous, and whether we'll find answers at the end is entirely uncertain," Ren said holding the straps.
"But we wouldn't be here if we weren't up for it." Nora grinned as well.
"Then let's get started." Ruby nodded before the four begin their long trek, down the road leading away from Taiyang's home.
Unknown Location.
A woman stood on a small bank overlooking a lava river in a dark area.
She smiled before she spoke looking down. "A smaller, more honest soul... A simple spark can indeed ignite hope, and breathe fire into the hearts of the weary. The ability to derive strength from hope is undoubtedly mankind's greatest attribute. Which is why I will focus all of my power... to snuff it out. How does it feel, knowing that all of your time and effort has been for nothing?"
"That your guardians have failed you? That everything you've built will be torn down before your very eyes? Your faith in mankind was not misplaced. When banded together, unified by a common enemy, they are a noticeable threat. But divide them, place doubt into their minds, and any semblance of power they once had will wash away. Of course, they won't realize it at first. Like you, they'll cling to their fleeting hope, their aspirations. But this is merely the first move."
"So you send your guardians, your Huntsmen and Huntresses, and when they fail and you turn to your smaller soul, know that you send her to the same pitiful demise. This is the beginning of the end, Ozpin... And I can't wait to watch you burn." She turns to see a castle before her eyes glow ominously as she gave an evil grin
Later, Woods.
On a cliff, Qrow is watching Ruby and her friends continue on their journey. He then holds up Ozpin's cane, before jumping from the cliff.
"(Caw!)"
A crow flies up from where he fell and flies toward Ruby's group.
Now.
Unknown Location.
In the large castle on red and purple barren land, Mercury and Emerald look as Beowolves emerge from black slime pools. Emerald has her hand to her mouth while Mercury seems slightly disgusted.
Snap!
They turn and saw the room is a large windowed room, at the center of which is a long purple, crystal table. Four people sit at the table with seven chairs, one of them is Cinder. Emerald and Mercury move away from the window.
Cinder's hair is much shorter and she has a mask that appears to be made of black glass over her left eye and the scarring from said injury extends into a slight x-shape over the bridge of her nose, as well as having deformed and degraded the tissue of her left ear.
She's wearing a long, dark red dress with one long, wide sleeve hiding her left arm. The edges of the collar and the opening for the right arm are gold-colored, and the upper chest and left sleeve are decorated with golden designs. The right side of her dress is open from the hip down with two gold-colored straps made of interwoven ropes connecting the front half to the back half of her thigh.
Under the dress, she appears to have on black pantyhose. On the right hip, the dress has a black rhombus-shaped gem set in a gold-colored metal of the same shape, with feathers of varying shades of blue extending from the bottom of it. On her right arm, she has a long, gray glove, the top of which has a gold-colored metal ring with curvy branching extensions going up to her arm. Her right ear has a new ring-shaped earring higher up than the dangling black gem earring.
To her right is a pale young man sitting on the chair in a crouch with gold eyes and a brown ponytail braided to resemble a scorpion's tail. He's wearing a white sleeveless jacket with leather belts strapped to it, along with white pants. His jacket is left open, exposing his bare chest, which is crisscrossed with prominent scars. His arms are covered with cream-colored bandages and leather vambraces. He also has leather boots covering his entire shin with knee guards.
On each earlobe is a silver, ring-shaped earring, and near the top of his left ear is another matching earring.
In front of him, is a tall and muscular middle-aged man. He's also unusually large and broad and has short dark brown hair, a beard, and hazel eyes. He is wearing a two-tone olive green coat over a black ¾ sleeve shirt, and a large belt. His pants are black, with a pouch strapped to each pants leg, and his boots are brown with white fronts. He also has some scars near the edges of his sleeves that are visible.
Beside him on his right is a tall middle-aged man with a slim build and slightly tanned skin checking his scroll. He has short black and gray hair as well as a thick mustache and eyebrows, and green eyes. He's wearing a grey overcoat with yellow linings, a yellow dress shirt, and a black necktie. His pants were the same color as his overcoat. His yellow-buttoned undercoat and fingerless gloves matched his cordovan shoes, under which he has yellow socks.
"Yes, yes, please keep your posse in check." Arthur, the man in front of Cinder said as the two walked to her side. Mercury grunts and makes a move toward Watts, but Emerald holds him back. Do you hear that? Silence... I've half a mind to thank the little girl that bested you."
"If I were you, I'd hunt her down. He-He-He! Find her and, well, she took your eye, didn't she?" Tyrian, the man beside her asked with a crazed grin and chuckle
Cinder just stares at Tyrian while he cackles at her. Cinder tries to speak but only manages to make quiet exhaling noises. Emerald leans in to hear her.
"Pathetic. Why did you even-!" Arthur stops as the door at the end opens and in walks the pale woman.
She glides alongside the table with soft footsteps before reaching the head of it, jewels jangling from her hair. Salem stops, facing away from them and toward a candle and crystal display. "Watts." She spoke as Watts straightens, looking toward her. "Do you find such malignance necessary?" She asks as she gestures for all to sit down."
"I apologize, ma'am. I'm not particularly fond of failure."
Salem sits followed by Arthur. "Then I see no reason for your cruelty towards young Cinder. She's become our Fall Maiden, destroyed Beacon Tower, and most importantly, killed dear Ozpin. So I'm curious, to what failures are you referring?"
"Well, the girl with the Silver Eyes. And that boy with spiky hair."
"Yes. We've dealt with their kind before. How is it a novice was able to best one of us?" Hazel, the other man asked crossing his arms.
"My thoughts exactly. Even without her new power, it should have been effortless."
"It is because of the Maiden's power. Make no mistake, Cinder, you hold the key to our victory. But your newfound strength brings with it a crippling weakness. Which is why you will remain by my side as we continue your treatment." Salem explained as Cinder is unhappy about this and lowers her head. "Dr. Watts, you are to take Cinder's place and meet with our informant in Mistral."
"Very good." Watts nodded at that.
"Tyrian, I want you to continue your hunt for the Spring Maiden." Salem continued as Tyrian laughed.
"Gladly."
"And Hazel, I'm sending you to the leader of the White Fang. Adam Taurus has arranged the meeting. The boy continues to prove loyal. Ensure that Sienna Khan feels the same."
Hazel nodded. "As you wish."
Cinder raises a finger, but Emerald fails to notice this gesture for a moment. "Oh!" Emerald exclaimed and leaned in to hear her.
Cinder rasps into her ear, and Emerald straightens. "Speak, child."
"She wants to know... What about the girl?"
Watts scoffs at Emerald. "What about her? Seems to me that this is Cinder's problem, not ours."
Cinder slams her fist onto the table and glares at Watts, who grins at her before Salem spoke. "That's enough. Tyrian?"
"Yes, my lady?"
"Spring can wait. Find the girl that did this to Cinder." Tyrian giggles elatedly and claps. And bring her to me." Tyrian freezes groans disappointingly, pouts for a second, then looks back up at Salem with an acquiescent shrug. "Because of your efforts, Beacon has fallen. And Haven will be next.
Everyone rises as Tyrian snickers at Cinder and points to his left eye. "Eye for an eye."
Tyrian goes into an uncontrollable fit of manic laughter, while Cinder grits her teeth.
Farm.
a boy with freckles and hazel eyes wakes up in a panic and sighs in relief after looking around. He emerges from the loft of a barn and climbs down a ladder. The boy is wearing patched khaki pants, a white shirt, and orange suspenders and gloves. Tucked into his pocket is an orange-based multi-colored cloth.
He opens the barn door to a peaceful country scene with a rising sun and birds tweeting. The White Mountains are a background to a dirt road, grass, a few trees, and a green water pump. He smiles and pumps water into a blue bucket. As his gaze wanders the landscape, he becomes distracted from the pump and utters a quiet sound of surprise upon realizing he has overfilled the bucket. His shoulders fall with a sigh.
Later, the boy is turning a green compost tumbler that is marked with a yellow crown bearing the initials CK. Later, while hoeing rows in a garden, he suddenly straightens up and looks out into the distance.
Naruto And Pyrrha.
Naruto drove down a dirt road on his motorcycle as Pyrrha held onto him from behind. "You alright?" He asked as he turned to the left and avoided a pothole.
"I've been better." She replied holding onto him as her black helmet shined with a glare from the sun.
"Yeah, a lot has happened these past couple of weeks."
"Like you getting a harem?"
"What?!" Naruto glanced back at that.
"Yeah, Nora told me she, Yang, Coco, and Velvet kissed you and agreed to be with you."
"I… Don't know what goes in that head of hers." He sighed as he turned to focus on his driving.
"Am I in?"
Naruto sighed again before looking back. "You wanna be?"
"Maybe."
"If you want," Naruto spoke again as he shifts into a higher gear. 'Same as in my old world.'
"Cept the Blonde is the only one with big tits."
"Thank you, Kurama."
"When are you gonna tell them?"
"When we're meeting up at that school, don't wanna repeat myself too much," Naruto replied as he came up to the gate of a small town.
Stopping, Naruto turned the engine off and kicked the kickstand down.
They walk through the village and see people buying fresh produce from a cart, standing and chatting on open balconies overlooking the roads, tending to their horses, and going about their daily lives peacefully. They walk up to a man with fair skin wearing a black suit and short cyane-colored hair and shook his hand. "Took care of the Grimm Ciane." (1.)
"Thanks, Naruto, they've been a nuisance with everything being down and most Huntsmen are busy."
"Ah, no problem, it's my hometown." Naruto turned and walked to a clothing store with Pyrrha.
Later, he walked out in a black uniform jacket with an orange zipper and buttons on the waist and sleeves, and dark orange pants. (2.)
Pyrrha followed by walking out wearing dark color armor of dark grey mixed with red with an orange sash the armor is a little bigger than her older being medium built with a small group of spikes on each shoulder and on her elbow protectors. She also has a helm that's the same color and leaves her face free. (3.)
"OK, one more stop," Naruto said as he walked to the back of the village.
Later, they came up to a small two-story house before Naruto knocked on the door.
And had a man open the door. He has blue eyes and spiky, blond hair. He also had jaw-length bangs framing either side of his face making him look like an older version of Naruto. He's wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt and black pants.
"Hey dad, mom home-!"
Naruto stopped as he was tackled in a bone-crushing hug by a woman.
She's a fair-skinned and slender woman of feminine build with violet eyes and red hair. Her hair is straight and reached her ankles with shoulder-length strands that framed both sides of her face and a black clip that parts her hair to the left. She's wearing a high-collared, sleeveless blouse under a long, loose-fitting dress with a wristband on her left wrist and standard shinobi sandals.
"C-Can't breath!" Naruto grunted as he started to turn blue.
Later, Naruto explained to them that he was from another world and was reborn.
"We know," Minato explained as Naruto blinked.
"What?"
"We know," Kushina said from her spot at the kitchen table. "We got our memories back right before you started school at Beacon."
"Then why didn't you tell me?!"
"You didn't get your memory back yet," Minato replied before Naruto sighed and rubbed his hands.
"He also has a harem," Pyrrha said getting Naruto to stiffen as Kushina looked over.
"Here?"
"I guess though I didn't get a say as I did in the old world," Naruto explained leaning back in his seat as Minato crossed his arms.
"… Was this that old law the first two Hokages (Fire Shadows.) law thing when the villages were founded."
"Yeah."
"Who was with you there?" Kushina asked as Naruto leaned his head back.
"Hinata Hyūga, Ino Yamanaka, Tenten, Anko Mitarashi, Hana Inuzaka, Samui, Pakura, Mei Terumi, and Ameyuri those last four were helping peace as I saved them while I was out training for a few years, and during a mission after."
"Any redheads?" Kushina asked as Pyrrha raised her hand before Naruto spoke.
"Mei, and Ameyuri."
After conversing and telling his parents he'll be heading to Haven to get Pyrrha back to her team, Naruto unlocked his parent's chakra who wants to help in the upcoming battle and will meet him later after they train.
Outside the village, Naruto started his bike before Pyrrha got on. "Where to now?" She asked as Naruto looked back.
"Towards Haven and help anyone out for cash… Maybe visit Coco and Velvet first before moving forward at their new school." He replied before driving off past a sign.
