Title: What They Don't Know
Author: badly-knitted
Characters: Jack, mentions Torchwood
Rating: G
Spoilers: Slight for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Fragments, Exit Wounds etc.
Summary: The people of Cardiff are very good at ignoring things they don't want to think about.
Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: For the prompt 'They Don't Know', one of the prompts I didn't get around to using for tw100's challenge 292: Billboard Hot 100 last year. I've dug them out again to supplement the prompts I got from my f-list, just because there are still loads I wanted to use.

I love Janto: If it wasn't fun for Nosy, Ianto wouldn't do it, but he knows what Nosy likes and made use of that knowledge to get a bit of help with his job. He probably has very different methods of tricking Jack into helping, lol!
Thank you.

Guest: I'd say that's a safe bet! I'm sure Ianto would appreciate the sentiment.
Thank you.
I'n not seem much of the William Hartnell years, I was a bit too young when they were first shown on TV and back then of course, there were no videos or DVDs. I adored Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, they cemented my love of SF, along with the original, Star Trek, it's been my favourite genre for everything since then. After all the hype, the Paul McGann movie was a huge disappointment, but McGann did the best he could with the script he was handed. Rather a waste of his talent, makes me wonder what he could have done with a good script.
I'm out of the loop, I hadn't heard about the possibility of Gatiss taking over. Not at all sure how I feel about that. Guess I'll reserve judgment until I find out if it's true and see what he does with the show if he does indeed take over.
That's really what galls me the most about Ianto's death - it's so out of character for him NOT to be prepared, especially since he knows the proper equipment is available on site. He managed to track where Jack's remains were taken while evading capture himself and stage a successful rescue from a military base, improvising when it became necessary to rescue three people instead of one. That's the Ianto I recognise. He even managed to replace Jack's beloved coat! Then he gets himself killed by an alien virus/gas whatever because he fails the take the most basic of precautions? No Way!
I've been trying with my fics to make up for the lack of friendly aliens on the show, just because they should have existed. Not everything that comes trough the Rift can be malevolent, surely!
Not sure dogs would work as well for floor cleaning as Fluffs do, but you could try rubbing one on the floor and see if it makes a difference, lol! Thank you!

There are dangers to be found in the back alleys of any city: thieves, muggers and worse. Cardiff's no exception, but on top of the expected dangers, it has its own unique set of hazards that most people somehow manage to remain blissfully unaware of.
It amazes Jack, the way Cardiff's citizens go about their lives rationalising or ignoring things that would shock anyone else.
Creatures in boiler suits, rooting through dustbins are dismissed as kids in masks. Even blowfish driving sports cars are shrugged off.
It's left to Torchwood to ensure that what they don't know doesn't hurt them.

The End
