"R-right. . . Well, after you fell asleep I started to walk home, I got about a block away from home before Kacchan thanked me-"
Shoved you against the wall and threw a hissy fit, but go on.
"-T-then after he left, All Might showed up again. He. . . He apologized for his earlier words, said that I had the heart of a true hero. He then offered me the chance of being his successor, of inheriting his quirk!"
And you declined him, right?
"I. . . Uh- Er, I-I-I mean. . ."
Right?
". . . I may have cried a little, then. . . Maybe. . . Accepted his offer?"
IZUKU MIDORIYA!
"I'M SORRY!"
He was bowed at an almost perfect ninety-degree angle before her semi-translucent form, having awoken from her slumber at some point during the early hours of the morning. She had decided to let him sleep in before getting answers on what transpired after she fell asleep, the whole ordeal the previous day would no doubt take its toll on him, on anyone really- case in point being her. But what she didn't expect was for an alarm clock just off to the side of the bed going off two hours later, in All Might's voice no less. As Izuku had begun to stir, she had taken to appearing in front of him again, albeit with slightly more energy than that of the previous day.
Her skin was no longer translucent, but rather the pale cream colour it had been when he saw her for the first time. When she had yelled, he was able to note the tiny fangs where canines usually resided, almost like a vampire. Her arms appeared, for lack of a better word, fuller than they had been in the classroom. Was this the result of her rest? Her intangible body somehow becoming visibly better? Probably since she vaguely mentioned that reversing time had taken its toll on her.
While a tad bit slow, your conclusion is correct. Just as any mortal would require to do, a god has to rest after tampering with things outside of their domain.
The goddess blinked, and suddenly Midoriya was no longer bowed before her at his bed, but rather he stood in front of her. His face inches from her own, while clutched in his hands in an iron grip, was a notebook with a hastily written 'God analysis for the future #1' on its cover. She took a single step back, just as he took a step closer.
. . . Mid-?
"You've said before that there are other gods, what are they like? How many of them are there? Do you think we'd be able to meet them all? Do they all resemble you in appearance or does it differ based on religion? What religion do you even belong to? Do other religions and their gods exist? How does that work? If all religions at their base state that their gods made the universe, which one is ultimately right? Are Demigods an actual thing? Do the-"
He heard the snap of someone's fingers before his mouth froze in place, mouth opened in mid-question with his tongue suspended against his teeth. It felt weird for a prolonged amount of time if he was to be honest. He heard a sigh and his eyes snapped up to stare at the goddess, who bore a mixed expression of annoyance and mild amusement. She took a step back, followed by another, and snapped her fingers again. He was knelt on his bed, his hands snapping to his sides just as feeling returned to his mouth.
Right, firstly. Don't change the subject, I'm trying to be angry at you. Second, all those questions and more shall be answered in time! But for now, we have bigger things to worry about. Namely, what to do with All Might, did you get his contact information?
His head shook slightly while his hand rubbed his chin, trying to banish the last lingering feelings of numbness from the area.
"N-no. . . He told me to meet him at Tagoba municipal Beach in order to begin training, I think he's gonna give me his phone number then?"
Right, and what time was that supposed to be?
His eyes sought out the clock, only to widen at the sight of it being ten past six, holy hell he was going to be late! Without a second thought he rushed over to his drawers, ripping them open he began to haphazardly toss his clothes in any direction. He flung a pair of trousers that were in his way over his head, unawares of their landing in the face of Primus. She silently hissed as the article of clothing ripped itself from her face, her fingers would reach upwards, gently brushing against its admittedly soft surface. It burned against her touch, literally as the fabric burst into flame only for its ashes to subsequently crumble into nothingness.
Izuku turned around, fully dressed in a green with white trim tracksuit, only to watch the last bits of ash to disappear into the air.
". . . What was that?"
Nothing you need to worry about, I'd recommend to get going. You're going to be late otherwise~
She didn't even know the agreed upon time the two had set, but if the panicked look in his eyes as he bolted out the door was any indication, it was likely to be soon. She took a few steps, to poke her head out the door of his bedroom. She watched as he raced to get his shoes on, fumbling with the laces as a small chubby woman with the same hair color as he watched in mild concern. She said something, of which the goddess couldn't hear by the distance, but if the way her shoulders slumped was any indication, then her young vessel likely had the situation under control. He jumped up, gently pecking the woman on the cheek before turning around and ripping the door open. She watched from the doorframe as he left the apartment, taking to the stairs some two at a time before his shoes hit the pavement.
The door to Izuku's room closed with a soft click as the boy in question cleared the buildings parking lot, the goddesses form rapidly fading as her vessel left his abode. Intentionally ignoring how the back of the door had a nearly full-scale poster of All Might flexing his buff forms muscles, she definitely needed to have a small chat about his taste in room décor.
The distance between his home and the once pristine beach wasn't all that far, at least by vehicle. Perhaps ten to fifteen minutes by car, twenty at most when taking a bus in that direction. To walk the distance? It would at least be half an hour without a speed quirk of some kind, or if you were an extremely determined Izuku Midoriya in a panicked hurry to not be late, twenty-two minutes. With less than a minute to spare, he made it to the edge of the dumping ground, technically beach, at six forty-four in the morning. His hands came to rest on his knees as he inhaled great gulps of air, his face drenched in a layer of his own sweat.
He faintly noted the goddess appearing beside him, she took one look at him, a single sniff of the air, and promptly took two steps upwind from him.
Yeah, he didn't blame her.
It took him a moment longer to get his heartbeat back under control, along with his breathing to manageable levels. With a deep breath and a whisper at the back of his mind that he was ready, he took his first step forwards unto the path of greatness.
Only to see nobody amongst the towering piles of trash, neither hide nor hair of buff All Might or his skeletal second self. His eyes went to his right, to the unimpressed stare of the goddesses, his own gaze withered before hers.
"I-I swear he was supposed to be here! He said he would b-"
The startlingly loud honking of a car horn nearly caused izuku to leap out of his tracksuit, his heartbeat, having freshly settled down from the run, spiked back up in a vengeance as low bearing white pickup truck came to a stop beside him in the parking lot. He turned around to watch as All might in all his skeletal glory, stepped out of the truck and grinned.
"You made it on time Young Midoriya! Just as I expected!"
"O-of course! I-I wouldn't miss this for the world All Might!"
"It's Toshi while we're in public, we don't want people getting the wrong idea now, do we?"
"N-no Sir!"
"Good, well! Shall we get started?!"
He shifted into his muscle form mid-sentence, causing the young fanboys eyes to sparkle in the early morning light. Ignoring the look the goddess was giving him in the background, his fist rose high into the air. He wouldn't let All Might down, he couldn't, how hard could his training regimen be?
/././././
He collapsed on the sand in front of his goddess, his limbs felt as though they were on fire, or was that his lungs? It could be both in all honesty, it likely was both, his body felt as though it was on fire. Ropes had been tied around both of his shoulders, with their ends formally held within his now reddened hands, the sand having welcomed the ends of the ropes in leu of his hands upon his collapse. All Might was taking pictures of him and the surrounding Beach from atop the fridge behind him, on the fridge he had been attempting /correction, failing/ to pull across the small amount of sand he had cleared. It had yet to move from his efforts.
Untrue, you moved it about. . . three millimeters? Give or take a micrometer
Ah, well that made him feel a tiny bit better.
"Man, this is a nice resting spot! This unmoving fridge is perfect for relaxing on!"
That didn't feel as good as his goddesses' words, but he knew it was All Mights attempt to motivate him to push on further, to go beyond his limits! Even though he wasn't exactly sure as to why the training was necessary, it wasn't like All Might explained it all that well.
Perhaps it has something to do with passing on his quirk? He does have super strength after all. But regardless of how necessary it is, physical training is still a great boon for one desiring to become a hero, such as yourself. You won't always be able to rely on a quirk, or well, technically myself in this instance
That's admittedly true, but how much physical training do you think I need? Self-regeneration would prevent me from feeling the effects of extreme injuries, would it not? If I can regenerate at an infinite rate, I would just need to outlast my opponents instead of overpowering them!
Ah ah ah~ regeneration isn't the only aspect of my power that you wield!
That caused him to fumble, which given that he was trying to stand up again was a horrible feeling as he crashed straight back into the sand. Its tiny irritating grains welcoming him in their warm, slightly dirty embrace.
IT ISN'T?!
Nope! There's a second aspect to my power in which you were gifted, will I tell you? Perhaps, likely if you don't figure it out by the end of your training. But if I do tell you, I will demand. . . Payment, of sorts~
P-p-payment?! Payment as in what, exactly?
You'll see~
Goddess!
"Hey Hey Hey! Enough resting in the sand my boy, we got to get a move on if you want to stay on top of the schedule!"
"Schedule?"
"That's right! Behold! The All-American Dream Plan!"
Pulling from the depths of the upper left peck of his shirt, All Might pulled out a small stack of papers stapled together at the top. He lowered his arm just within reach for Izuku to take the papers, he did, and began to skim through them with Primus over his shoulder. Her head tilted slightly to the side, the papers even included meal preparation time and a sleep schedule down to the very minute he was supposed to fall asleep.
This is quite impressive! I wish you good luck my vessel! Sadly, since you decided this without my input, you'll be on your own for the most part. But ill at least cheer you on from the sidelines! Though, we'll have to seriously discuss how this training will end at some point in the future, you know?
He groaned before his face crashed into the sand, it was soft, and thankfully one of the few clean spots of the beach. He felt two strong fingers take hold of either side of his head, he felt them gently squeeze as they lifted him into a sitting up position. It was then that All Might turned his back to him, he slammed his hand on the fridge not once, not twice, but three times! Up until the fridge was a pancake in the sand. Revealing behind it the sunrise over the open water in all of its natural beauty.
"Back before the commission introduced the ranking system, being a hero wasn't about popularity or imaginary numbers that told us our worth, no! Being a hero meant helping the community, volunteering for the work that nobody else could or would do, of doing things with our only rewards being the satisfaction of a job well done! It is for these reasons why I chose this beach here for our training, for once this beach is a shining beacon of the community, only then will you be truly ready to be hero! Of being a worthy vessel for One For All!"
It was then as All Might offered him a hand did he chose to deflate back to his skeletal form, it was then that from behind, a near quiet gasp could be heard from the entry way to the beach. Izuku was quick to turn around, to lock eyes with a girl with bright orange hair and turquoise eyes that shun just as brilliantly as the gemstone. She took a step back, her mouth open in silent surprise.
"A-A-All Might?!"
Or not so silent surprise he supposed.
