Chapter 8: Red Rain

I was back in the castle I stayed at on Skald Island as I was in one of the sitting rooms holding Dinsleigh in my hands. I was happy to see the stuffed rabbit in my hands, but I also had to do more to balance my recovery after my battle against Sawney Masbath two years ago. When I put down Dinsleigh in one of the chairs, I saw Jill rushing into the room as she was worried about what was going on, for I had a bad feeling that the other children were up to no good.
"Kanna and Carly are gone," she said. "I tried to find them and they were gone."
"Where did you last see them?" I asked.
"They were on the beach and they even had Aora and Ghimru with them."
"I'll see what I can do…"
I followed Jill out of the sitting room as we left for the beach outside. The sight of the girls and the oldest twins became alarming as I saw a small bag of seashells on the wet sand. Still in my wheelchair, I sensed something wrong as I noticed Jill disappearing until I did the same. I found myself on yet another dry wasteland as it was barren and devoid of life. When I saw Carly out in the open, I saw her to be safe as I got up from my wheelchair and was slowly walking towards her. Just as I was about to do so, I tripped and fell as I skinned my knee in which I saw blood dripping down my leg. Jill noticed me clutching at the wound I had as she noticed the blood on the rocky ground.
"Are you alright, Sam?" she asked me as she saw me dig out a cloth to staunch the bleeding.
"I'm still weak, but getting better with every step," I said.
"Mr. Sam!" yelled Carly as she was worried. "Something's wrong with Kanna!"
I was worried to the bone as I got up on my feet with the cloth wrapped around my knee. When I got closer to where Carly and Kanna were, I noticed that one of the girls wasn't doing too well in which I took a look at her. She was burning up as I also noticed blood on her dress the moment I felt my heart stopping in midbeat. She was starting her first period as I didn't have anything to put between her legs. When I saw her open her eyes, she was glad that I was there to help her as I noticed a cloudburst coming down in droves.
"It's raining…," I heard her say to me as she was not doing too well.
"We better get to someplace dry," I said as I picked her up.
"She's gonna die, isn't she?" said Carly worriedly.
"She's not about to die, fusspot. What she's experiencing is a period in which most female humanoids get it during puberty."
"Hey! We found a cave!" cried Ghimru as he was standing next to a dry place.
I led the way as I placed Kanna in my wheelchair while I carted her towards the cave. With Jill and Carly following me, we made it inside as we noticed Aora and Ghimru at the front of the cave. Both of them didn't like the rain as they also wanted to go back to our home in Skald Island on Valinor. When they saw me with Kanna, I gently set her down as I saw the blood that stained her dress while she wore her coat. I was very worried as I had to protect Kanna in which she was hurting due to the period she had. With the rain pouring heavily, I noticed Jill walking further into the cave until she heard a noise coming from the sky.
"Sam…" she said. "There's something in the sky… and falling fast!"
I heard the sound of a shuttle falling from the sky as I had to get everyone to the entrance in which I saw a shuttle crashing into the deeper part of the cave. I had a gut feeling that whoever piloted the shuttle wasn't so lucky as I slowly walked towards the deeper part of the cave in which I spotted it while I saw the hole above with the rain pouring. It wasn't long until I saw a Draaza girl with a green comb and blue eyes emerge out of there as she was dressed in a pink shirt and overalls complete with a grey hoody. She never expected me to be here as she was also not so lucky to have the shuttle damaged while landing here on this dry wasteland of an unknown planet.
"Damn it!" I heard her yell. "I'm surely gonna get docked for this!"
"Is something wrong?" I asked.
"I'm doing a test run in pilot school and I'm on the verge of flunking! I can't face my folks on Germanicus in which I've been trying so hard to pass! And for the cruel irony, my pilot's ed teacher decided to act like a dick and supplied me with feminine pads and tampons!"
"There's no need to be worried. Besides, even the unluckiest can be an underdog. By the way, my name's Sam Winchester of the Order of Letters."
"My name's Osgilia Yaodar and my family lives on Germanicus. I was doing my piloting test until I got put off course and landed here in this wasteland, only for it to be raining."
"I hate to cut your conversation short, but you said that you had some feminine pads, didn't you?"
"They're in the shuttle."
"Thanks…"
I went towards Osgilia's shuttle as I saw it to be damaged from being pulled through a wormhole. The interior and exterior had the words, "Student Driver," in red letters as I also spotted a large box that had feminine pads in it the moment I grabbed one of the small boxes that was made for heavy flow. When I was about to get out of the damaged shuttle, I heard footsteps approaching as I turned around and saw a familiar face that I didn't expect to see in a long time.
"Sam?!" I heard her say to me as she was there with her hair cut short. "How did you get here?"
"It's been two years since I last saw you, Kotori," I said.
"As I recall, you were forced to go into convalescence after your tussle with Sawney Masbath and the destruction of Project Amaterasu two years ago."
"Now's not the time to be conversing right now. There's an emergency in which one of my wards had her time of the month just now."
"Are you serious?" I nodded. "Let me take the pads to her."
I gave Kotori the small box of feminine pads as I followed her out of the shuttle. When I saw the other children watching over Kanna, I saw her slowly sitting up as she was embarrassed by what happened to her. When Kotori walked towards Kanna with the pads in her hand, she gave them to her as she opened them up in which she didn't know how to use them, for I had to usher Aora and Ghimru away from the vulgar talk due to it being a female problem.
"Aren't these… feminine pads?" asked Kanna.
"They are, but they've became a problem with me," said Osgilia.
"That 'problem' happens to be a lifesaver," said Kotori.
"Fair enough, but I also have some generic Midol and Pamprin in the shuttle she can take."
"Where's Sam?" asked Kanna.
"He's with the older twins in which he doesn't want them knowing about reproduction until they're a little older," said Kotori.
Kotori picked up Kanna as she gently set her down on the rocky ground. Lifting up her dress, she removed her undergarments the moment she saw the blood all over them. It wasn't long until Carly was rushing to the shuttle to look for some clothes for Kanna until she spotted a dresser that appeared out of nowhere in which she opened up the top drawer and got out a kimono and some undergarments that were the right size. When she got back to everyone, she saw Kotori digging out her heavy bag as she got out a towel to put between Kanna's legs in which she was worried about her, for she was not doing too well.
"Hang in there, Kanna," said Jill as she was worried.
Carly came back with the extra clothes that she found as Kotori took them and was ready to put them directly on Kanna. It wasn't long until she took the bloomers as she unwrapped one of the pads and stuck it onto them. Removing the blood-soaked towel from between her legs, Kotori put the bloomers with the pad on them as she also took off the dress the moment she put the kimono on her, for she was taken care of for now…
I was in a different part of a cave as I was busy shielding Aora and Ghimru away from the female problems that I didn't want them to see. Both boys were curious as they wanted to make sure that Kanna was alright. Still, they were young, but the talk of sexual health was off limits for them until they got into puberty. By the time I saw Carly running towards me, she was ready to give me the heads-up as she was also worried about Kanna, for she wasn't doing too well due to the period that she has.
"How's Kanna doing?" I asked.
"Kotori gave her a pad between her legs," answered Carly.
"Eww!" yelled Aora as he was disgusted at the notion.
"That's a girl problem, not for the boys!"
"They can't know about it anyway," I said.
"Mr. Sam, what's the time of the month?"
"It's a monthly cycle that all humanoid women and girls go through once a month and it isn't fun, fusspot. This cycle starts with puberty until it ends with menopause and all women and girls fear it once they bleed."
"That's gross!" yelled Aora.
"Turn around!" yelled Carly as she saw Aora obeying.
Carly made her point clear as she didn't either Aora or Ghimru hearing about the conversation of the unmentionable problem that I discussed with her. When I saw Kotori coming towards me, she was aware of Kanna's unmentionable trouble as she did her best to help her, for it was something that only girls can talk about.
"Is she doing okay?" I asked.
"Kanna started her period, but she's been given some generic Midol by that Draaza girl," answered Kotori. "Luckily, Carly found some clothes for her, but we can't go anywhere due to the rain outside."
"Is this true?"
"I found a dresser with clothes in it, but it came out of nowhere," said Carly. "Kanna didn't have any clothes to wear after she look gross between her legs."
"You did good, fusspot. I hope to the gods and the Matriarch that she pulls through…"
I went towards the spot where I left Kanna as I noticed Jill and Osgilia putting her into my wheelchair the moment they noticed an entrance to where Carly found the dresser earlier. They never saw anything like it before. When they went inside, I followed with everyone else in tow as we found ourselves in a place that was similar to the old Men of Letters bunker from the Elder Days. The place itself was more like the main hall in the castle on Skald Island as I saw the usual Viking motifs plastered on the walls complete with the Aquarian Star on it. All of us were glad to see something that was crafted by the raw power I had as it was good enough to be housing us until the rain stopped. Still, I wanted to examine this place a little more as I went towards one of the bathing areas in which it was designated for men. Gathering up Aora and Ghimru, I went in there as we all took off our clothes and went towards the wash basins to clean ourselves up. What we didn't expect was that Dirk and Gyatso were here as they were also cleaning themselves in the wash basins, for we all had to have our baths soon enough.
"There was a downpour from outside," said Gyatso.
"I take it that the two of you ended up here like the rest of us," I said.
"We were looking for Kanna after Reiko scolded us for not bringing some fempads for her," said Dirk as he was washing his hair. "As for the so-called 'unmentionable problem' that she has, I just hope that she's okay. She was there with Carly collecting seashells with the others, but she vanished to this desolate wasteland before the rain started pouring."
"That 'unmentionable problem' shouldn't be mentioned around us to begin with."
"I knew of it when I was looking at one of those health books about anatomy and most humanoid women and girls bleed between the legs."
"That's gross!" yelled Aora as he finished cleaning himself.
"It's gross for the women and girls because they have to deal with it until they reach menopause. I know that we're glad that all men and boys don't get periods, but the women and girls have to deal with the raging red monster for a week and then it's gone until the next month."
"That's enough for now," I said as I finished cleaning myself. "We shouldn't be talking about this right now, not with the younger boys here."
I saw the other boys finishing up as they went to the bathtubs that were filled with hot water and bath salts. The smell of ash bergamot and zephyr flowers reminded me of the time we spent on Shiganshina for a while. I was glad to be in here as I was there with the boys in which we didn't talk about any more of the unmentionable problems that all humanoid women and girls faced, for it was something that was made for them only anyway…
Kanna was in one of the bathtubs in the women's bathing area in which she was not doing too well due to her time of the month. With the other girls in the bathtub after being cleaned, they were in there as they were happy that they had warmth for once. As for Kanna, on the other hand, she was starting to feel sadder than normal as she was dreading that moment she could bleed forever, for she was afraid of it. She also saw that Kotori was in the bathtub next to her as she was also afraid of dealing with what she had, for she was scared of it.
"You're lucky that we staunched the bleeding for now, but after this, you'll have no choice but to wear one of those feminine pads every month," she said.
"Am I gonna die, Kotori?" asked Kanna.
"No, but your condition lasts only a week until it's time to do so again."
"I'm so afraid of it… What if I bleed to death? It would make Sam very sad if he lost me."
"He knows about humanoid anatomy and he also knows how to steer away from our problems when it comes to our time of the month. Men and boys don't get periods, but we do. Without them, we wouldn't excel to what we know now, but there are times when we either miss one or bleed too much in which both situations can be life threatening. It's no walk in the park, but we have to deal with what goes on in our bodies. Many humanoid women and girls have different anatomies, but the one thing that binds us all us that we all bleed from below. That is what is put in front of us for the rest of our days."
Kanna never expected to hear such talk before as she had to come to terms with what she was going through. Still, she had to get through the time of the month as she also had no choice but to endure what was thrown at her, for it was something that all women and girls had to face for a while…
Later on in the evening, I was in one of the sitting rooms as I was dressed in a robe while sitting in my wheelchair. After getting a bath and seeing everyone cleaned up for the night, I was alone thinking about Reiko as I wanted to be with her again, but the priorities of the children came first, especially Kanna. I couldn't leave her unattended as I was ready to leave the sitting room until I saw Kotori coming in here, for she had her medical bag in her hand.
"How's Kanna doing?" I asked.
"She's doing better, but the older boys refused to let her out of bed after what she went through," answered Kotori. "From what I heard, Lady Reiko dogged them for not giving her some fempads before she took off to this place."
"She may look meek, but she knows how to scold anyone who doesn't do what they're told. It's also a godsend that that Draaza girl in the shuttle crashed into the cave with what was given to her while doing a piloting test or else Kanna would've been suffering from a lot worse."
"She's resting, but she'll be fine. As for the 'other problem,' how are you doing?"
"I've been better, but I don't do much because of my exhaustion." I see Kotori opening up her medical bag as she got out a stethoscope. "You don't need to do that right now."
"You can't keep neglecting your health, Sam. Reuben would be pissed off if he saw you doing that."
"Kanna is your priority right now after what she's going through. After what I saw on her, I couldn't let her suffer much worse."
"I already examined her, but now's your turn, so I suggest that you sit down so I can get a look at you."
I obeyed as I sat back down in the chair that I had as I saw Kotori beginning to examine me with the stethoscope in her hand. When I saw her place the diaphragm part of it on my chest, I noticed her examining my heart and lungs as she heard them to be fairly sound, but weakened. I continued to breathe in and out as I was trying my best to stay firm until I started coughing due to the constant stress that I've been under.
"There's a slight bubbling in your lungs," said Kotori.
"I've had worse," I said.
"It's not just you having worse. There's an infection in your lungs due to the constant stress from your ongoing exhaustion."
"I've tried not to do too much in the past two years, but I worry that I could be rendered useless after what happened."
I saw Kotori get out a small compartment as she opened it up in which she got out a vial with a blue substance complete with a needle as she lifted my robe to expose my shoulder while injecting it. I felt the substance starting to clear my lungs as I was starting to breathe a little better. When I covered up my shoulder, I slowly got up as I was on my way to where Kanna was as I left the sitting room with Kotori following me. When I went into one of the rooms, I saw her laying in bed as she was eating a cup of instant noodles in which she was forbidden to get up, for I was making sure that she was alright.
"It seems that you're feeling better," I said.
"I know, but the boys won't let me out of bed," said Kanna.
"They're worried about you and so am I."
"Kotori says that you worry too much."
"I worry because I care. I know that your unmentionable problem isn't my business, but I can't and won't let anything bad happen to you."
"She knows, Sammy, but you should also focus on your own health," said Reiko as she appeared out of nowhere. "I did tell Dirk and Gyatso to give Kanna some feminine pads or else they wouldn't have any pie for dessert."
I noticed Reiko with a container of desserts as she gave them to Kanna. When she finished up her cup of instant noodles, she opened up the box as she saw some apple turnovers in them as they were even drizzled with icing the moment she picked one up and ate it. I was happy when Kanna was doing a lot better as I wasn't about to let her out of my sight, but I had my own problems due to the fact that I had to focus more on my health. Still, I couldn't do that right now as I also didn't want to lose Kanna after what she went through, for it was a close call that she was alive so far.
"I'm starting to feel a little better," said Kanna.
"Thank goodness that you're alright," said Reiko.
"I love those apple turnovers. They taste very good."
"I made a lot until I was reduced to two and I gave them to you."
"I'm more than glad that you're alive, Kanna," I said. "As for this unknown planet we're on, it started out from a dry and barren wasteland to a barrage of rain pouring down."
"The planet is called Tenebrae, Sammy," said Reiko. "When I got here, the rain filled up the spots where we see the lakes, rivers, and oceans. Your imagination helped this place in which you skinned your knee." Reiko sees the bandage on it as she removed it to see the scrape I had. "You fell out of your wheelchair, didn't you?" She sees the wound cleaned up as it was also a mess. "You had plenty of rotten luck, but you can't let it define you." I see her place her hand on my knee as she healed the wound on it. "That's better… You should also take better care of yourself. I know that you worry about us too much, but we worry about you as well. You matter just as much as the rest of us, for you're also worth it."
I hugged Reiko warmly as I was more than blessed to hear her wisdom. She was right that I worry too much about everyone as I also had to make sure that those in my family were safe from harm. It was the most I could do as I also had to take care of myself a little more, for I didn't want to be rendered useless after all…
Carly was in the laundry room as she was seeing all of our clothes washed in one of the frontloaders. Like the rest of us, she was also worried about Kanna as she saw her dress and undergarments spinning around in the frontloader in a torrent full of detergent and water complete with suds. Even though she was dressed in her nightclothes, she wasn't about to be going to bed right now as she noticed Jill coming into the laundry room in which she was curious to know about what was going on, for she was also worried for Kanna as well.
"You worry about Kanna a lot," she said.
"She had blood all over her clothes," said Carly. "I was scared to see her like that until Mr. Sam told me about how all of us bleed once a month."
"I… never told Sam about how I bled when we first arrived on Matarote Island two years ago until Reiko saw me feeling unwell. I saw the black blood coming down my legs as if I was about to die, but she told me that it was normal the moment she gave me those 'fempads' to soak up the blood."
"It's nothing to be ashamed of," said Osgilia as she came into the room dressed in a blue robe with a projector in her hands. "Every single humanoid female bleeds from below. Terrans, Elves, Orcs, Rendilians, Cat Sidhes, Draaza, Karasu-Tengu, Dwarves, and others that fall in the category bleed red. Orianthans bleed blue, Targars bleed purple, Mirkosians bleed orange, and Chonoids bleed black, but we're all connected to the one brutal monster that comes once a month and that is the worst thing that happens to us on a monthly basis."
Osgilia takes the projector as she puts it on a table in which she plugged it in. Turning it on, the image brought out a purple background as it had the words, "The Joy of Menstruation" written in pink letters. The sound of a whimsical tune straight out of the Middle Days blared as the girls in the laundry room watched the documentary that featured a lesson in knowing a lot more than expected.
"Greetings, ladies," said a Draaza woman on the projector image. "As you know that menstruation is mainly a problem that women, girls, and transgender men experience, but we all know that every one of us bleeds below. Let me show you how it's done."
The girls saw an image of the inner workings of the female anatomy as it displayed the reproductive organs that were visible. The sight of them made Carly cringe as she was seeing the organs up close. Jill never saw anything like that before as she was also aware of what she experienced due to Reiko's intervention on giving her what she needed long ago. Osgilia, on the other hand, was no stranger to dealing with menstruation as she also had to deal with the gag gifts filled to the brim of feminine things, for the so-called "joy of menstruation" was no picnic.
"The menstrual cycle starts functioning during puberty," said the Draaza woman on the projector image. "It lasts up to twenty-eight days in which on the last leg, the cycle goes up to seven days. It starts when the ovum springs from the ovaries, travels to the fallopian tubes, and straight into the uterus in which the blood and the two hormones, estrogen and progesterone, flow straight out of the vagina. Therefore, when one starts up, the side effects from this are tied to what other humanoids call it 'premenstrual syndrome' or PMS. The side effects from it including mood swings, cramps, bloating, constipation, insomnia, headaches, libido problems (in older mature humanoids), fatigue, crying fits, poor concentration, food cravings, and anxiety. Those problems can be relieved with anything that is designated as either generic Midol or Pamprin. But wait, there's more!" Images of feminine pads and tampons show us as they had a strobing effect on the projection screen. "Fempads and tampons come in all shapes and sizes in which they're effective to help you navigate the woes of 'being on the rag' for the week until your next period. Fempads are fine, but as for tampons, some of them can be equated to the infamous toxic shock syndrome that is caused by the bacteria of risk factors that can be life threatening, so I suggest that you stick to regular ones and the super absorbent ones can be put away for water filtering or fixing a leaky boat. And so concludes our menstruating journey, so get out your stuff and have a happy period!"
The projector turned off as Carly and Jill saw a little more than expected in which Osgilia put it away for now while digging out a small musical amplifier attached to her vidphone. The sound of Foreigner's "Feels Like the First Time" blaring all over the laundry room was a sight to hear as Osgilia had a love for the ancient classic rock that was primal in the Elder Days. When the girls were still looking at the frontloader with the clothes washing, they heard footsteps approaching as they saw Seto in here the moment she was wanting to know where I was, for she simply had a bone to pick with me when it came to bringing Tenebrae to life just now.
"Where's Sam?" she asked.
"He's in one of the rooms," said Jill.
"I take it that he ended up here unexpectedly, didn't he?"
"He was concerned about Kanna," said Carly.
"I'm not worried about that. I want Sam to get his ass back to Skald Island to recover."
"Don't take it the wrong way, but he didn't want anything bad to happen to Kanna," said Osgilia defensively. "He worries too much about everyone in which he went into my shuttle and dug out a box of fempads to give to her."
"You sure know how to worry the Germanican Empress, don't you, Princess?"
Carly and Jill were shocked to learn that Osgilia was a princess from Germanicus as they also noticed her to be carting more knowledge than anyone else in the group of children. Osgilia was in the doghouse as she was facing Seto head-on due to the fact that she was more than just a pilot that was wanting to surpass herself, for she was a princess that was part of the Germanican matriarchy after all.
"Your mother is worried sick about you," she said.
"My mom is always worried about me," said Osgilia. "I know that she has her hands full with dealing with the asshats in gold armor causing all this mess, but I have to make an effort to pass piloting school first before doing anything."
"Enough! You're going back to Germanicus immediately in which your mother is concerned about your safety after all that has happened."
Osgilia got up as she didn't want to leave right now. Still, she was at the mercy of Seto as she had no other choice but to return to her homeworld before anyone else worried for her safety. It wasn't long until I entered into the laundry room as I spotted Seto there in which she was concerned about the Draaza girl who crashed into the cave. I had to know a lot more as I slowly got up from my wheelchair and went towards one of the chairs that was facing the frontloader that was on spin cycle.
"You're looking better, Sam," said Seto.
"I see that you came here to Tenebrae, didn't you?" I said.
"The piloting school reject here happens to be Princess Osgilia and one of the heirs to the Germanican matriarchy. Empress Agrippina has been busting her ass to aid in the war effort against the Executive Division and the worst thing that could happen if Princess Osgilia ends up missing in which her oldest daughter, Princess Elspeth, is in the Order's Hunter Corps."
I looked at Osgilia as she was backed in a corner in which she was not about to return home due to her shuttle being damaged when she crashed here. I had no ill will towards her as I also didn't want her to bear the full brunt of Seto's wrath. Still, I had to stick up for her as she was yet another person who ended up crashing in the central part of the Ashizoka System.
"I take it that you're part of the Germanican royal family, but you dress like a commoner," I said.
"I can't sit by like some old ninnymuggin and twiddle my thumbs," said Osgilia. "I have to make a name for myself just like everyone so I could forge my path by being a shuttle pilot and I want to pass it instead of failing."
"For the record, if those feminine things weren't in your shuttle, Kanna would've been in a much dire situation right now."
"I'm glad to help, but I need to have the student driver shuttle fixed. I don't want to flunk pilot's ed and I goofed up big time when I got tossed into a wormhole and right here of all places."
"You're safe in which Tenebrae will get its first Germanican ambassador. You have knowledge that helped us in which you went above and beyond the call of duty to do so. You may have failed pilot's ed, but you passed with all the knowledge that you can muster."
Osgilia was humbled by my words as she was more than likely to be using her position as ambassador for a lot of reasons. As for our stay in Tenebrae, we had to go back towards Skald Island on Valinor as I also had to focus on a full recovery as well…
Later on in the middle of the night, Kanna got out of her bed as she was on her way to the bathroom in which she was ready to change out the spent feminine pad and put in a fresh one. Even though she was feeling a little better, she was accepting the unmentionable problem that she had in which she was swapping out the spent pad she had and put in another one. By the time she did that, she went towards the sink as she washed her hands while returning to her bed the moment she heard the door open as she saw Reiko coming in here to check up on her, for being a mother is worth watching over her.
"How are you feeling?" she asked.
"I'm starting to get used to the feminine pads," said Kanna.
"That's good to hear…"
"I wonder how Sam's doing?"
"He's alright, but he's facing an inquiry coming from Seto."
"I just hope that he doesn't become exhausted again…"
"He'll be fine, but he can't worry about us too much. He needs to take better care of his health like all of us."
"I hope that he gets the message…"
Reiko was there with Kanna as she didn't want to leave her side right now. Even though she had the younger children to care for, she had to go back to Skald Island to make sure that they were alright as being a mother was both taxing and rewarding at the same time. Like me, Reiko also wanted Kanna to get better as she was also ready to return to Skald Island to look after the younger children, for she had her reasons to leave for it so far. It wasn't long until Reiko disappeared without a trace to tend to our younger children as Kanna was alone. She had a streak of confidence to combat the unmentionable problem that she had as she had to brave her way through, for she wasn't alone in this fight...
I was in the sitting room as I was being put through the ringer at the behest of Seto. She wasn't too happy with me not doing more for my health as I also spotted Kotori next to her. Both of them were ready to let me have it as they refused to let me leave, for they were concerned about my well-being so far.
"You went all the way to Tenebrae just to find the children, but what about your health?!" yelled Seto. "I know that you worry about them, but you can't hold their hands forever."
"Kanna had her time of the month," I said. "I couldn't abandon her in that condition."
"I know that you worry about your ward, but you can't dodge your care right now," said Kotori.
"I know, but I can't take that risk of having her bleed to death. I care about her well-being in which she is precious to me just like the rest of my family. Her unmentionable problem may not be my business, but sometimes, it can also be life threatening if not treated."
"You worry so much about her, but there are other girls who will help her navigate through the perils of puberty. You care for her, don't you?" I nodded as I felt more scared for Kanna's safety. "She'll be fine. As long as she gets over her time of the month, she'll be better again. As for you, you need to focus a little bit more on your health than worry too much about everyone. Kanna also wants you to get better. She also wants you to not worry too much in which she wants you to focus on your own well-being. You may not think that your life has no meaning, but it does, Sam."
"But what about Kanna?"
"Kanna will be fine," said Seto. "Right now, the main priority so far is you. From what was seen in your records, your stress levels are still high in which I also ended up aiding and abetting into forcing you on the field. You can't back away from it, Sam. You may say that you're fine, but you're not. You can't just brush it off and say that you're doing better after what you went through two years ago. Still, are you willing to focus on your health or do I have to sic Reuben on your ass?"
I reluctantly agreed as I had no choice but to obey Seto and Kotori. When I left the sitting room, I went outside of the cave as I saw the damaged shuttle that Osgilia had the moment I later went outside to see the rain stopping, only to see trees and grass that grew rapidly. I also saw the oceans crashing near the spot where I found Kanna as the place turned into a beach. I even noticed the sights of seagulls flying in the night as I saw the moon full and bright while it shined everywhere. When I wheeled myself to the beach, I saw Reiko standing there as she dressed in her nightclothes. The sight of her made me want to take her, but I was in a much weakened state that I would missing my chance to do so.
"You look beautiful," I said.
"It seems that you made a beach complete with an entire ocean," said Reiko.
"I've been forced to resume my convalescence, but I hope to the gods that I feel a lot more better than what gets—"
I noticed Reiko place a finger on my lips as she was wanting me to be still. When I got up from my wheelchair, I sat down on the beach as I noticed Reiko sitting next to me. I was clasping her hand as I was also happy to see that I was most likely to be wanting her even more. It wasn't long until I was on my back as I saw Reiko lift up her nightgown to reveal that there was nothing underneath. Getting up, I closed my robe as I turned around and noticed Osgilia rushing out of the cave in which she was most likely to be seeing more of Tenebrae in all its glory.
"Seto's been looking for you," she said.
"I know, but I have to stay the course after all that I've been through," I said.
"I had a projector to show the other girls about their changing bodies earlier, but I hope that they tell Kanna about it."
"It seems that you have a lot of knowledge like Osgiliath Yaodar, who was known as the best collectors of insights ever put here."

I stared at the moon as it was still brighter than normal. As for what I discovered, I also had faith in Osgilia as she did more than just help out with something out of my jurisdiction, for she was filled with knowledge so far…
