Graham fell silent as he followed Ace and Tegan into the Meeting Room. He knew Kate literally had the weight of the world on her shoulders but he and Ace, as well as most of the others had travelled with the Doctor. Now there were not only two of them but there was what appeared to be an imminent Sontaran invasion. And he had almost kissed Ace. He sighed as the guilt seemed to twist his gut. He loved Grace. He missed her daily and now he had almost kissed another woman. He was relieved Ryan had headed to Cardiff, knowing he would not be able to look his grandson in the eye knowing that he had come so close to cheating on his Gran.
"Graham?"
"Yeah?" He looked up suddenly as Ian said his name.
"Are you quite alright son? I mean. You look a bit green around the gills."
"Yeah, yeah. I'm ok. Thanks." He smiled slightly at the older man. Ian was probably the only person on the team that was older than he was. It seemed strange but everyone, including Kate and the Doctors deferred to him. He shrugged as he realised the retired school teacher did not believe a word of it.
"You and young Ace had words?"
"My and Ace? Nah. No, we're ok."
"Oh." Ian smiled as Yaz and Dan walked into the room. Tegan smirked slightly as Ace shot her a look. It was Kate that finally caught their attention.
"We have satellite images of the Sontaran fleet in the upper atmosphere. They are clearly preparing to act." Kate stated firmly. "UNIT are monitoring them and Torchwood are on full alert."
"Oh great." Ten answered. "Torchwood. Like they've never acted unprovoked."
"Jack Harkness runs it well." Kate snapped. "You think they'll shoot first and ask questions later? Because that's what the Sontaran fleet will do. You know? They won't even ask questions."
Thirteen ran a hand through her short blonde hair, hating that she agreed with Kate. Torchwood were necessary and now her old travelling companion was running it there was more organisation. Although she didn't know if that was Gwen or Ianto's influence more than Jack's. Frowning she got to her feet.
"What do we know about the Sontarans. Really?"
"Killing machines from Sontar." Martha stated. "Tried chocking Earth once."
"The poison sky." Kate nodded, remembering when Martha and Donna had saved the day. Thirteen nodded.
"Yeah. Well, then they had a human accomplice. Is that possible now? Is there any way they have a link to someone here?"
"Not that we see."
"Ok." Ten pushed his glasses further up his nose. "So, no link to humans this time. You lot are seen as vermin anyway."
"Thanks." Ace muttered.
"He's right." Kate answered as Dan joined them with the wok in one hand.
"Me Mam is not 'appy about this."
"Dan."
"I mean it. This gets damaged, its me Mam you have to worry about, not Mr Potato Head."
Kate smirked. "Noted."
"So?" Graham sighed. "You called us back here. So far we know they are up there, that they want to kill us. We have two Docs and no idea why and to top it all off none of us have bloody clue what to do. Dunno about you lot but the Master and his madman schemes seem like a walk in the park. Tell you sumfin, I'd rather be back in that Volcano. At least I knew what I was doing there."
"Alright Graham." Thirteen raised her eyebrows.
"Well, come on Doc. What do we do? Just sit here and let them come to us?"
Thirteen sighed.
"Yes, Graham that's exactly what we do. "
