Wow I have people favoriting this story already and I haven't even done anything yet, so that doesn't make much sense. Never the less I shall endeavor to live up to expectations.
I'd hoped to get this chapter out much sooner but I haven't had much time to myself lately, also I had a crisis of confidence because the next couple of chapters are a gonna be a little wonky then I remembered that this crossover was always meant to a little out there so ladies and gentlemen we're gonna go for broke.
Chapter Two
3rd POV
Two years later
A number men and women stood around surveying the surrounding territories for the new terra venture colony project they'd already been sent ahead to study their new home but had discovered a number of ancient ruins and set their minds to learning all they could about about the planets' previous inhabitants.
"All right." An archaeologist was saying. "assuming that we've translated the language correctly these swords were known as the star, no! Quasar Sabers according to ruins they were legendary swords whose power was said to hold true regardless of land and age."
"What?" Asked Maya.
Maya was a college student most at home in the outdoors and was an expert on plants and animals. She'd fought tooth and nail to get invited on this expedition along with the other grad students. Despite the planets abundance of plant life, animal life was nearly non existent.
"It's basically a lot of mythical mumbo jumbo." He answered. "That in not so many words says who claims one of the sabers will a be great hero, blah blah blah."
"Wait do you hear something an older gentleman asked aloud."
Maya stopped and listened along with everybody else and heard a faint buzzing growing steadily louder until it filled the entire clearing.
Humanoid bugs descended from above while more rushed in from the surrounding forest. There was a flash of green light and a figure with twisted red armor appeared next to the stone containing the sabers.
"At long last the Quasar sabers will belong to lord Scorpius." He thought aloud moving to grasp the center most blade and pulled.
The humans present were surprised to see that the sword didn't budge.
"What no!" Yelled Furio pulling harder.
While his attention was fixated on the swords and the stone keeping them sealed, Maya began to slip away into the trees.
"After her!" Furio bellowed when he saw what she was doing.
A trio of stingwingers took off in pursuit.
Several hours later
Earth
Chaos reigned at shuttle terminals Across the world as hoards of people of every description attempt to board a transport ship, either with a legitimate passport or a counterfeit others tried to stowaway or bribe officials. Countless people wanted off earth wether out of a misguided sense of adventure or because of the numerous natural and political disasters that had plagued the world in recent years.
With only twenty two hours until Terra Venture left orbit Leo Corbett was being hauled away by two guards.
"And don't come back until you do have a pass port." one of them yelled, once they'd thrown him outside the chain link fence.
Leo kicks a can down the sidewalk. Hearing shouts near an alleyway, turning to look he sees an elderly woman being accosted by two thugs.
"We don't want any trouble just give us your passport" one says. The lady pulls out a manilla envelope but doesn't hand it to them yet.
"Leave her alone!" Leo shouted.
"Just walk away pal." the first one grunted.
Slowly moving to the old woman's side he snatches the envelope from her shaking hands. Quickly opening it Leo pulled out the passport.
"You want this?" he asked putting the passport back in the envelope "here you go" and dropped it to the ground. As the two thugs pounced on the piece of paper Leo hooked his arm around the old woman pulled her away from the scene.
"but!" she whimpered.
"shhh" Leo whispered and handed the passport back to her.
"You Don't have much time, the last shuttle is going to be taking off soon." Said Leo.
Collecting herself the old lady asks. Aren't you going?
Looking at the ground slightly ashamed. Leo answered. "No I wasn't selected."
"Shame on them if anyone deserves to go you do. The new world is going to need men like you." She said. seemly pausing to think for a moment then smiles and holds out her passport.
"Here take it." She says giving a him a conspiratorial wink.
"What?!" Leo asks Startled. "I couldn't, I shouldn't."
"I don't understand why the people in charge would think it's a good idea to send to send an old woman like me into space. I know that they want to keep peoples families together but the only family I have there is one cousin, and we've never gotten along well unfortunately and he has enough problems with."
"But, but what about you?" Leo asked.
"Your sweet but I still have friends who can help me."
"But this passport was assigned to you they'll know that I'm not supposed to have it." Said Leo
"maybe but it can get you into the terminal. I'm sure a clever boy like you can figure out the rest."
Hesitantly Leo says. "Alright I'll do it.
"Great." The old woman said, rummaging in her purse and pulling out a gold coin. If you see my cousin give him this and tell him what happened in my city wasn't his fault.
"Wait, how am I even supposed to know who to give it to." Leo Asked.
"A troublemaker like you? you're bound to run into him sooner or later." She answered.
Terra Venture Station
Mike, Kai, and Kendrix walked down the corridor in combat fatigues.
"Only" Kendrix looks at her watch. Eighteen more hours.
"We're not leaving just yet we've still got one more training exercise. See you guys on the field." Mike says as he leaves.
"To think this time tomorrow we'll be living on a new world." Kendrix says wistfully.
"I know it feels like we're living in Star Trek but its not all fun and games." responds Kai.
"Hold it right there!" somebody yells.
Leo sprints around the corner looking over his shoulder at the guards and collides with Kendrix knocking them both to the floor.
"Oh man I'm so sorry." He stammers.
You ought to be more careful. Grumbles Kai.
Here let me help you up. Leo says as he pulls Kendrix to her feet
Suddenly the two guards that had been chasing Leo come around the corner.
"Gotta run" He Says as he takes off again.
"Did you see a guy run through here dark hair, red shirt." One of the guards asks.
Kai and Kendrix share a subtle look.
"What'd he do?" She asks.
"He's a stowaway" the guard answered.
"He," Kai started.
"No, we didn't see anyone." Kendrix answered quickly cutting Kai off.
The guards run off.
"You sure that was a good idea" Kai asks.
"Come on, how much trouble could one stowaway cause?" Said Kendrix.
Elsewhere on Terra Venture Station
"The guards are everywhere" Leo mentally told himself trying to justify what he was currently doing. If the guards caught him as a stowaway that was bad, but the guards catching him as a stowaway in a stolen military uniform would be even worse.
falling in with two columns of soldiers Leo followed them to a room made up to look like the inside of a gunship.
"Alright." the commander was saying. "You boys had better listen up. This will be the last training exercise before we'll have before Terra Venture leaves," turning on the nearby screen display a mocked up suburb, "this will be a standard urban battle field name of the game is capture the flag. Any questions?"
One soldier slowly raised his hand.
"Yes private." Stanton responded.
"Sir I've been wondering what's with all the emphasis on military security on the new world."
The commander grimaced. "I suppose that transitions to my next announcement. What your about to hear is totally classified."
"We are not alone." He said,
"and no I'm not joking! He snapped when the men were starting to laugh. pressing a button he said, this is Scorpius. Pointing to the image on screen. He controls the space that Terra Venture will inhabit. The U.N. had to beg on their hands and knees to get his permission for the colony. Personally I'm under the impression that he sees us as little more than a community service project his advisors roped him into. In any event almost nobody knows about this even the teams that went ahead of us don't know. I only found a few days ago."
"A public announcement will be made to the general population in few hours." He explained.
Now while the higher ups myself included are probably going to end up walking on eggshells I'm told that we should hardly even know that the big bad bugs are there but it pays to prepare for the worst.
"FURIO!" a voice bellowed across the clearing.
Said general stopped trying to break the sabers loose and looked up to see a new figure had appeared surrounded by stingwingers.
He was covered head to toe in silvery insectoid armor with a one way visor covering his eyes.
"So your back." Said Furio
"Yep." The newcomer said slowly a dangerous edge to his voice.
"Did you really think I'd let you get away with doing something like this. Especially when I'm still your liaison to earth" He said gesturing to the prisoners.
"You can do a lot of things brat but telling me what to do isn't one of them," Furio growled. "Besides Scorpius wants the Quasar sabers and that's what he'll get."
Nevertheless you both agreed to be gracious hosts to our new guests. Turning to the stingwingers holding the colonists.
"Take their shackles off. He shouted. The foot soldier's rushed to comply.
"Now. Start digging." He said.
One of the colonists looked back and forth at the others and then pointed at himself.
"Not you. I meant tall dark and buggy along with his fifty brothers." The ambassador said nodding to a group of the stingwingers.
"What are you doing!?" Asked Furio.
Pointing at the rock the stranger says. Dig that stone out of the ground we'll take the entire thing back to the ship and we'll figure out how to get those fancy swords out there.
"Now if you'll excuse me I have better things to do then clean up your messes." He said walking off.
"Where are you going." Snarled Furio.
"Back to the ship to get a manifest for the people here I need to perform a head count." And with that he vanished in a flash of green lightning.
The ambassadors' armor melted back into casual clothing as he walked the ships corridors back to his quarters.
Computer pull all available information on the preliminary colony personnel. He called. And begin compiling a list of names and faces.
He looked up when he heard foot steps and saw Trakeena standing in the doorway hands on her hips.
Uh oh.
So I went back fixed all the quotation marks in the first chapter that I could find, admittedly that's something I should've done before I published but I got over eager so that's on me. To any Valdez fans reading this I'm sorry about the last chapter but that should be the worst of any perceived Leo bashing, and that wasn't my intention I was trying to show how tainted Percy's view of him was. Probably not very well I admit.
Also if anybody's going to be researching Power Rangers to read this story well more power to you, but I don't think that will be necessary given how that side of the story is now rather AU to better suit my nefarious purposes and I'm planning to explain how and why as the story goes on.
