"And just what the hell are you?!" Cardin exclaimed.
My true name is unpronounceable in your language. However, you may call me… Venom.
"S-So… Venom… what are you gonna do now? Eat my brain and go along your happy way?"
No no, Cardin. I wouldn't do that. You are more important than you realize.
My species are symbiotes, and part of our survival is binding ourselves to compatible hosts. Without one, we die in a very short time. And that fact that you are not yet dead yourself means you are my ideal host.
I would rather not be stranded from my own world on yours, but here I am, and here we are. A bond has been formed. And now we need each other to survive."
"With you and I together, Cardin, we can make this 'Peter Parker' suffer for what he has done to wrong you. I can grant you the ability to take what you want, so long as we work as one. So, what do you say?"
Cardin looked at the face of the symbiote. "Alright, fine. With your help, Parker will get what's coming to him."
"Mr. Fisk has been kind enough to inform me of some results of such a study in your world, such as one Doctor Curtis Connors, who was capable of completely rewriting DNA and became an adversary of the very Spider we face today."
"I wish to gift Adam a new way to fight his war, as thanks for his loyalty so far, and as an incentive for him to continue to do so. Faunus are half-animal, half-human beings. Could you possibly alter the genetic structure to lean more heavily on their primal halves? They would be more their animal parts, but retain enough humanity to remain in complete control, not unlike this Curt Connors did as the Lizard," Cinder requested.
"It's… possible. But I cannot guarantee anything," The Tinkerer said.
"I appreciate a refresher course on all your skills, Bullseye. I'll need it for my time here," Taskmaster said as his bow collapsed back down and he attached back to his back. "Unlike Fisk, I don't plan on leaving this place. A world without the Avengers breathing down my neck on every job? That's a life I can get behind. But I wanna make sure I have as little competition as possible in this place."
Adam then activated the detonator, and the two watched as the now faraway front of the train went up in flames and smoke, taking all of the cars, and Bullseye, in a violent blaze.
"One by one," Venom snarls. He picks up Blake by her neck and lifts her to his level. "Eyes, lungs, pancreas. So many snacks, so little time." Pyrrha quickly transformed her spear into a rifle, and fired, nailing Venom in the eye and making him drop Blake, who grunted on impact with the ground. The four huntresses then all brought another storm of gunfire onto their adversary.
"What even was that thing?" Yang questioned.
"I don't know," Weiss said, "But Peter seemed to."
"Yeah, and he seemed to want us as far away from it as possible."
"Clearly for good reason. Look what it did to you guys. He was trying to protect you. It's his job, remember?" Ruby defended Peter.
"He's also keeping secrets," Weiss rallied. "Friends aren't supposed to keep secrets."
The Defenders of Remnant
Chapter 11: Jumped the Gun
Cardin… Cardin didn't stir from his sleep, and continued to lay there unperturbed. Cardin! Wake up! Cardin opened his eyes and groaned as the symbiote's voice pounded his skull.
"Ugh… alright, I'm up, I'm up!" He complained as he threw the covers off and sat up, a groggy feeling weighing on him. As he glanced around the room, he saw none of his teammates remained in their dorm room.
I watched your team leave one by one without you, Venom said before the symbiote's face came out of Cardin's body to look at him directly. "I figured you'd be upset."
"It's our day off, they can do whatever they want. I'm their leader, not their parent."
"So what will you do? Get Parker while their attention is elsewhere?"
"Not if he's on campus," Cardin replied. "Trying that is suicide, the Teachers would kill us."
"Then why not kill them first?" Venom suggested with malice in his voice. The idea made Cardin shiver, and shocked him.
"What the hell is wrong with you? No!"
"What?" Venom asked. Cardin shook his head and got up. "What did I say?"
Cardin ignored Venom until he was fully refreshed with a shower and his civilian clothes. Then he sat on his bed and scrolled through the news on his scroll, when a headline caught both of their eyes: Spider-Man: Ally or Enemy? Cardin furrowed his brow. "What do they mean? He's a good guy!"
Ah, a fan, are we? Venom asked.
"I mean, he's done more to fight the crime in this kingdom than the cops and even some of the huntsmen have. It's been, what, a month? Maybe more? And he's giving those faunus the boot out of our city."
And don't forget what we've done, Venom cackled. We showed them how their terrorism pays.
"Yeah, not exactly a fan of eating them to get rid of them," Cardin remarked.
I was hungry, Venom defended.
"Yeah, your chemical or whatever. How often do you need that, anyway?"
Not as often as races like you humans need sustenance. And with the amount I consumed last night, you won't need to 'get rid of' more for another few days, Venom informed Cardin.
"Best news I've heard all week," Cardin sighed. "How are you feeling, by the way? Those guys really got us last night."
My form is malleable. As much as it hurt, I have no injuries.
"Good. Because next time we get a shot at Parker alone, he's a dead man."
Before the Tinkerer sat a lone White Fang member, with his mask and hood removed. He was a man that seemed to be in his late twenties, according to the data Adam Taurus had given Tinkerer. The Tinkerer didn't care to remember the young man's name; whether this failed or succeeded, he would just be the first test subject for these genetic trials. Tinkerer finished strapping him in the chair before Cinder, Fisk and Adam entered.
"Is he ready, Mr. Mason?" Fisk asked.
"He will be shortly," Tinkerer replied. "And even if he is, there is still no guarantee this will work. Conners' research was imperfect, the transformation left his mental state damaged. I have altered the serum in a way I hope will resolve this issue, but I have no guarantees he won't be a mindless or mentally fractured monster, if he even survives the process."
"Real encouraging, doc," the man said, slightly hissing as a reptilian tongue slithered from his mouth.
"You volunteered, young man. I am not one to sugar coat reality for those that can't handle it."
"You are doing good work, brother," Adam assured the man. "And if this works, you will be the first in a new breed of White Fang enforcers."
"Yes, yes, now back away. The test is about to begin," Tinkerer hushed them. The three leaders backed away from Tinkerer and the man strapped to the chair. Tinkerer then pulled three syringes from his coat, injecting one into the man's arm, another in his neck, and the last in his leg. He dropped all three empty syringes and backed away, rejoining the others and waiting for the transformation. Within moments, the young man began convulsing in his chair, thrashing out of pain and gritting his teeth tightly. Adam slightly looked away, while Cinder watched with interest. The man began screaming and convulsing more violently, as what were once subtle patches of scales on his skin became more prominent, the green shade of them sickening to see.
"He's changing…" Cinder said with a smirk.
"His pain better be worth it, human," Adam threatened.
"Science is trial and error, Mr. Taurus. And I am only adept in this field, working with data foriegn and imperfect," Tinkerer replied. "Also, this is the rewriting and duplication of DNA, no simple feat. As the first test subject, it would be a miracle if he survives."
"For your sake, pray for a miracle." They were pulled from their argument when the man pulled his right arm free from the straps keeping it down, the entire arm scaly green and his fingertips turned into sharp black claws, which he used to cut his other arm free, which was still changing into the same thing. Adam gripped the hilt of his sword, Wilt, ready to fight if need be. The man kept screaming as he began to grow in size, and the scales grew up his throat. He threw his head back as the scales fully enveloped him, and his head morphed as well, with his jaw elongating and his teeth growing and sharpening. He turned away from the others and hid himself as his size growth tore through his uniform, leaving only the tatters of the white vest stretched across his now broad figure. Adam slowly stepped towards him, his hand still ready to draw Wilt at a moment's notice. "Brother…?" All was quiet for a moment, before the man turned back around to reveal his full transformation; his head was no longer human, but the long-jawed form like a reptile's, and a green-scaly tail showed itself as it slowly moved around. The man's feet were now three-toed, with claws similar to those on his hands, and his piercing yellow eyes stared down all of them. "Can you… hear me? Do you understand me?" The now changed lizard-faunus snarled, then slowly nodded, baring his sharp teeth.
"Congratulations, Phineas," Cinder said, a smirk across her face, "It seems you got your miracle."
"For him, yes. But now the issue would be in altering the serum to tailor to individual faunus' animal DNA strands. I based this off of Conners' work, which was the only reason I was as successful as I was. For anyone without pre-existing lizard Faunus strands, it just only becomes an uphill battle from here."
"Perhaps I can call in some favors," Cinder offered. "I myself know the most brilliant scientist in our world. Give me some time, and I'll see what he comes up with."
"Any help is appreciated, Cinder," Tinkerer nodded. "With this, Remnant now has its own variant of the Lizard."
"Which we will put to good use," Adam said as he and the newly formed Lizard rejoined them. "It seems I was wrong to doubt your work, human. I am impressed. Your contribution will be remembered by the White Fang. How soon can we expect more results of your research?"
"Could be a while. I'll let you know when we can make the move to more faunus."
"Then our business today is done. I am needed in Forever Fall. Cinder will call when I am needed. I leave… the Lizard in your care," Adam said, giving a small nod to the Lizard before leaving. After he was gone, Cinder approached the humanoid reptile next.
"If you wish to test your new skills, we have an assignment for you." The Lizard turned to her, and slowly nodded again. With a smirk, Cinder pulled out her scroll. "There is a creature within the city that killed an entire cell of your brothers overnight," She then showed him security footage of a large black humanoid creature with white eyes tearing through White Fang, even biting the heads off of some. The Lizard growled at the sight. "If you can find it, and kill it, I'd consider that an apt test of your new abilities."
"It will be done," The Lizard hissed before leaving the others for his new mission.
"Will he stand a chance?" Cinder asked Tinkerer.
"He will be fighting one of the Spider's most dangerous adversaries. Personally? I doubt it."
Marc returned to his mindscape, and the figures of Steven and Khonshu appeared before him, but Jake was nowhere to be found.
"Where is he?" Marc asked angrily.
"Jake Lockley is taking no part in your ventures on Remnant," Khonshu answered. "He wants to return to Earth, and nothing else."
"Yeah? Well he can get over himself. We're stuck here right now, and that's that. Nothing we can do about it."
"'That's that'?" Jake repeated as he appeared. "We don't belong here, we have somewhere else to be."
"We have no way home at the moment, Jake. We have to deal with the hand we've been dealt, and continue as we've been until we find a way back to Earth," Steven argued.
"And play guard dog for an old bastard hiding in a clock tower?!" Jake snapped. "I don't trust him, I don't trust any of 'em."
"What are you talking about?" Marc questioned.
"They're hiding somethin, somethin big. There's something about this whole thing they aren't tellin us."
"He's right," Khonshu added. "When we met Ozpin on the night of our arrival, it felt as though he wasn't what he seemed."
"And you wait until now to tell us?" Marc raised an eyebrow in annoyance.
"You cannot act without enough lead. Otherwise you would be caught dead. Give it time, and soon this headmaster's secrets will unravel before us," Khonshu said.
"Fine," Jake growled. "But I'm still not helpin you fight this world's crooks. When it comes to that, you're on your own." Jake then faded away from the mindscape.
"For now, Marc Spector, continue as you have," Khonshu said. "Fight this White Fang, protect this world's travelers of the night. And when the time is right, we will uncover the truth that Ozpin is hiding from us."
Ruby, Pyrrha, Nora and Yang were walking along the streets of Vale together as morning broke, the sun just above the horizon. "Ugh, it's so early…" Nora complained.
"All the better to hit the shops as soon as possible. If we're gonna get something for Weiss, we have to find the right thing before someone else takes it!" Ruby replied.
"We don't even know what it is," Yang said.
"Well, isn't that the joy of window shopping? Finding it as it comes along?" Pyrrha asked.
"See? Pyrrha gets it, sis!" Ruby smiled.
"Just get Weiss a 'Get Well' card and call it a day," Nora suggested unenthusiastically.
"That's no fun!" Ruby pouted. "Besides, it has to be thoughtful!"
"A card can be thoughtful," Nora defended.
"No! It has to be a real gift, Nora."
"A card is a real gift."
"Guys, seriously, let's just look around, and see what we find. I'm sure Weiss will be happy with anything so long as it's thoughtful," Pyrrha said. All three of the other huntresses looked at her with a doubtful look. "Yeah, it sounded smarter in my head."
They were interrupted when a loud boom sounded from down the road. "What was that?" Ruby asked.
"It came from a few blocks down," Yang answered. "C'mon!" The four huntresses sprinted down the road until they came across the sight of Electro flying above, long strands of electricity shooting from his body, the road destroyed with cars flipped over and civilians fleeing. "Woah…"
"Fry, little pigs! Fry!" Electro cackled, sending storms of electricity into the groups of people.
"We gotta stop this guy!" Nora exclaimed.
"Call our weapons!" Pyrrha ordered. The other three huntresses nodded, pulling out their scrolls. Before they did more, however, a voice rang from above them.
"Hey Max!" They all looked up to see Spider-Man swinging in towards Electro, feet out. He swung in and kicked Electro dead center, sending him to street level. Spidey let go of the web and landed on the street as well.
"It's Spider-Man!" Ruby gasped in excitement.
"Weapons!" Pyrrha reminded.
"Right!" Ruby quickly replied. Using their scrolls, the huntresses called their weapons, and four rocket-propelled lockers came down from the sky, crashing into the street and opening, each holding a huntress's weapon.
Spider-Man webbed Electro and yanked him towards him, grabbing him by the collar of his jacket once he was close enough. "We're not playing these games, Electro. Not here. So I'll ask nicely: Where is Kingpin?"
"See, it's not gonna be that easy, insect," Electro replied before grabbing Spider-Man by his outfit. "You're playing with the big boys now!" Electro's dust backpack began to light up, then a massive pulse of electrical energy erupted from him, electrocuting the hero and sending him flying, and doing the same to the four huntresses. Electro cackled evilly and floated above them. "Fisk and that red witch wanted us to lay low, but I feel much better putting scars on this place! Why hide when I can bend this world to my every whim with just a little shock therapy?" He was caught off guard when he took a Dust round to the shoulder, then he looked over to the Huntresses, where the barrel of Crescent Rose was still smoking.
"Hey! Leave him alone!" Ruby exclaimed.
"Little brats…" Electro growled.
"Whoever you are, stand down immediately! Or we will be forced to bring you down!" Pyrrha commanded.
"You kids will make me? Don't make me laugh!" Electro fired a storm of electricity at them, with Ruby narrowly getting out of the way, while her sister and Pyrrha were yet again sent flying back. Nora, however, simply dug her foot into the ground and tanked the entire attack. Electro paused and looked down, surprised by Nora's resilience. "Fine, you want more?!" Electro repeated the attack, this time with stronger intensity, which did put Nora flat into the street, but after Electro relented, Nora got back to her feet, electricity sparking from her body, and a wide grin spread across her face. "Why aren't you dead?!"
Spider-Man got back to his feet as he took in the sight of Electro attacking Nora to no avail. "What's happening?"
"Nora's semblance allows her to absorb electricity and use it in her attacks," Pyrrha answered.
"So Electro's powers are useless against her… I may have an idea."
"Whaddya got?" Yang asked.
"Instead of pulling electricity from ley lines or power grids, he's only using that pack of electric Dust. If we let Nora absorb enough energy, a large enough impact and release of energy will create a discharge that can overload his pack."
"Guys!" Nora called. "Can't do this for much longer!"
"I'll get his attention. Yang, throw Nora at him as hard as you can," Spider-Man ordered before swinging up.
"Wait, how did he know our names?" Yang questioned.
"Fight now, ask later," Pyrrha said, before moving. Yang nodded and ran towards Nora.
Spider-Man webbed Electro's face, blinding and stunning him momentarily, and causing him to stop his attack. Nora took the chance to catch her breath. Electro ripped the webbing off his face and growled at the super hero, who was sticking to the side of the nearest building. "You'll pay for that," He snarled.
"With what? Current-cy?" Spider-Man quipped, just before leaping out of the way as Electro blasted the building. Yang reached Nora's side.
"You'll have to catch your breath later. We have a plan."
"Which is?" Nora panted.
"I'm gonna throw you at that guy as hard as I can," Yang smirked.
"Normally that's an ok plan by me, but right now you just sound dumb," Nora replied.
"Trust me, it's Spidey's plan."
"Alright then. Toss me."
Spidey landed on the wall of another building. "Max, we don't belong here. We need to go back home."
"Why? So I can just be thrown in jail again? Never! Things are changing, Spider-Man! And you won't be there to see it!" Electro exclaimed before wildly firing electricity at the hero. Spider-Man avoided the attacks briefly, but was eventually tagged and tumbled down to the street, groaning in pain. Electro lowered himself down to where he was floating not even ten feet above his adversary. "And Taskmaster thought we should keep quiet. Now this whole city will see you die at my hand!"
Then Nora, soaring through the air, smashed her hammer into Electro's Dust backpack, sending all of the electrical energy from her body back at her target. Within an instant, another massive electric pulse blew out from the attack, sending both Nora and Electro into the street. Spider-Man got to his feet and saw Electro's pack was blown open, and all of the electric Dust had shattered. Electro groaned as he got back to his feet, then growled as he stared down all four huntresses and the super hero. "I'll fry all of you!" The four huntresses let a storm of Dust rounds come down on Electro, but he evaded the entire attack, and sent Yang flying backwards with a single attack. Pyrrha threw her shield, but the villain simply swiped it aside with a current of energy. Then Electro appeared before Pyrrha and blasted her down the street into a car. Ruby stepped in and dealt a blow to his shoulder with Crescent Rose, putting him off guard long enough for Nora to send him into a wall with Magnhild. Before he could fully recover, Spider-Man swing-kicked him again, sending him flying through a lamppost. Spidey landed on him and reeled his fist back.
"Lights out, Electro," He quipped before knocking the villain out cold with a right hook.
Yang helped Pyrrha off the car and the two reunited with Ruby and Nora. "Well… I guess we aren't getting that gift for Weiss after all," Ruby said dejectedly.
"Hey, look on the bright side," Nora smiled, "We got to fight with a superhero! Against a supervillain!"
"And you guys did a heck of a job," Spider-Man said after hanging Electro from a light post in a cocoon of webbing. "Sure, I helped, but you guys saved the day."
"Oh, stop," Nora waved away with a giggle. "But keep going!"
"Seriously, I mean it. You guys are heroes."
"Thank you, sir," Pyrrha replied. "It's an honor to meet you."
"I'm just someone trying to do the right thing, the same as you."
"Um, sorry… Mr. Spider-Man?" Ruby muttered.
"No need for the 'Mr.', Ruby. You can just call me Spidey," Spider-Man replied.
"You… you remember me?" Ruby looked up at him.
"Of course I do. The girl who gave Roman Torchwick what for, who wanted to become a huntress since she was just a little girl, and was cool enough to be let into Beacon early by the big man himself," Spider-Man said. Ruby gasped in excitement with a massive smile coming to her face as she became starry eyed. Spider-Man kneeled down to her height and put a hand on her shoulder. "Hard to forget a girl like you. Believe me when I say you and your friends have the potential to become true Huntresses, and better heroes than I could ever hope to be."
"Th-Thank you, sir- Oh, uh, Spidey… Ugh…" Ruby slightly blushed out of embarrassment, causing the hero to chuckle before standing back up. Yang smiled widely at the interaction between her little sister and the superhero.
"Uh, Spider-Man?" Pyrrha said to get the hero's attention. She gestured behind him, and Spidey turned to see his webbing swinging free in the wind, with Electro nowhere to be found.
Blake opened the door to Team RWBY's dorm to see Weiss standing up and looking out the window, arms crossed. "How are you feeling?" Blake asked.
"You know what Parker's hiding, don't you Blake?" Weiss asked. Blake was caught off guard, sutter-stepping into the room.
"What?"
"Last night, you were holding back something. You gave the least clarification in defense of Parker, and you tripped over your words. You're normally calm and collective. But last night you weren't." Weiss turned around to face her teammate. "He knew about the monster last night, he mysteriously disappears during the day, and he has no records from before his enrollment at Beacon. I checked. He's a ghost."
"Have you been running a background check?!" Blake exclaimed.
"Ever since initiation. Even after I took him for coffee to apologize for my behavior," Weiss replied.
"And yet you continue to behave like this?" Blake raised an eyebrow.
"Why so defensive of him Blake? You're only proving my point. Parker is hiding big secrets, ones that affect us and everyone else around him. And you know what it is."
"And we had this argument already. If Peter is hiding things, he is hiding them for a reason," Blake furrowed her brow.
"That's not good enough. I have broken ribs from a black ooze monster that wanted him. Besides, clearly he trusts you enough to tell you."
"You know what? Yes, I know some of the things he's hiding. But not enough. And what I know, I found out on my own."
"And you don't care to share with the rest of us?" Weiss questioned.
"That's not my information to give away!"
"We could've died last night. Why are you defending him?"
"He's supposed to be our friend, Weiss. Why can't you just believe that he's trying to do the right thing by keeping secrets?" Blake pleaded.
"Just because he's trying to do the right thing doesn't mean he's actually doing the right thing. If he really wants us to trust him, he can't keep the kind of secrets that lead to things like this," Weiss scowled.
Blake started to form a reply, but fell short. Even though Weiss's sentiment were nowhere near the mark, what she was trying to get across was somewhat true. Blake felt frustrated. "You know what? Fine! I'll… talk to Peter when he gets back."
"'Get's back'? It's the middle of the day! Where could he be?" Weiss questioned.
"Same place everyone else is: in town to find a 'get well' gift for you."
"Well, I'll be waiting for him to spill tonight."
"This attack on my kingdom is unprecedented, Mr. Parker," Ozpin said. "I was not made aware of the capabilities of your adversaries."
"This is exactly why we shouldn't have welcomed them in the first place, professor," Goodwitch commented.
"On the contrary, Professor Goodwitch," Matt replied, "If Peter hadn't intervened and led your students in such a way to overpower Electro, he may very well have continued to destroy your city."
Peter said, "Sure, Electro did some damage, but it was a single intersection, and he's not what I'm worried about."
"And what exactly are you worried about?' Ozpin asked.
"When Electro was monologuing, he mentioned Fisk and a 'red witch' wanting him to stay below the radar. Sound familiar?"
"The woman on the bullhead with Torchwick," Goodwitch concluded.
"Which means Fisk has both met and aligned with Roman Torchwick and this mystery woman," Matt added.
"All the more reason we should not fight amongst ourselves. We need to work closely together if we want to put a stop to all of their plans," Ozpin said.
"Yeah, on more than that. With Venom running around out there too, who knows what else is in store for us?" Peter said. "Anyways, I'll leave the collateral stuff to you guys. I gotta go." Peter started for the elevator out of Ozpin's office.
"And where exactly are you rushing off to?" Goodwitch questioned.
"Same place I was when Zappy showed up: get something for Weiss."
Electro was thrown into a storage container, practically bending the entire thing as all the air was forced from his body and he landed flat on the floor.
"Hey! Watch the product!" Torchwick exclaimed. But Fisk was having none of it.
"What the hell were you thinking?! You were told to keep hidden until we were ready!" The crime boss screamed, his voice alone shaking the floor below him, let alone his stomping steps. He picks up Electro by his head, his brawny hands completely wrapping around Electro's skull. "You were warned! If Taskmaster hadn't freed you, you'd be in the hands of the police now. Which would have been a mercy."
"He'll kill him," Taskmaster said to Cinder.
"Do we really need him?" Cinder asked.
"He clearly has no interest in going back home, and he's a living lightning storm. He's useful until he's disobedient."
"Then we'll get as much use out of him as possible," Cinder said before approaching Kingpin. "As much a problem as disobedience is, Wilson, perhaps we should spare his life for as long as he could be useful. Consider this his final warning."
Fisk seemed to consider it for a moment, then furrowed his brow. "I don't know how you manage your underlings, Miss Fall, but me? Under these circumstances…?" Fisk then quickly applied pressure to Electro's skull. The criminal immediately started screaming in pain, clawing at Fisk's arm. He then blasted Fisk's face with electricity, violently trying to get out of his grasp. While the attack hit Fisk directly, Fisk just kept squeezing, and after one last blood-curdling scream from Electro's mouth, his skull popped like a water balloon in Fisk's grasp, shocking even Cinder, who took a step back at the sound Electro's death made. Prowler cringed, and even stepped aside and pulled off his mask to empty the contents of his stomach in the corner of the room. Even Torchwick seemed disgusted. Electro's body crumpled on the ground and immediately started spurting and spilling blood on the floor, the gore of the scene visible to every White Fang member who had paused to witness it. What was once Electro's head, however, still remained in the Kingpin's fist, which was painted entirely red. "...I won't tolerate anything that risks my goal of seeing Vanessa again," he said as he looked down at Cinder, with fresh burns from Electro's final attack scarring his face. Only then did he open his palm to let Max Dillon's brain matter hit the floor, and he left them without saying another word.
Most of the people's eyes never turned away from the corpse of what used to be Electro. Taskmaster, however, approached Cinder quickly. "No more waiting games. Fisk needs to die, and he needs to die soon," He said.
"A-Agreed," Cinder nodded, still slightly shaken. "Roman is supposed to be leading a robbery at the docks soon. Perhaps we will replace him with Fisk."
"No, too obvious. Send them both. I'll figure out a way to leave Fisk high and dry."
"Any idea of how you'd do that?" Cinder asked.
"A few. I'll get back to you on that. Until then, have the Faunus clean this up and hold off on Dust robberies. We need Fisk calm if this is gonna work, so we can't take more risks," Taskmaster said.
Cinder didn't care to be given orders by someone like Taskmaster, but she knew now was no time to argue about it. So she simply nods. "If your plan to get rid of him works, you'll have proven yourself honest with your intentions."
"If Fisk dies, I'll be doing us both a favor."
"Then I suggest you act quickly. We can't afford to waste time."
