The scene changes. Tony is sitting in front of a fire. Yinsen tells him that he is sure people are looking for him but they wont find him in the mountains and says that what he just saw was his legacy in the hands of murderers and asks if thats how Tony wants to go out and if its the last act of defiance from Tony Stark or is he going to do something about it.
"Talk about tough love." Rhodey said.
"Yeah, but I needed it." Tony replied.
Tony asks why he should do anything, and that they're both going to be killed and of they aren't he's going to die within the week anyway.
"Tony." Rhodey sighed. It was weird to see his best friend so ready to give up.
Yinsen says that its a very important week for him.
A few people smiled.
The scene changes to Tony giving orders to everyone while Yinsen translates. Tony says that if this is his work station he needs it well lit he needs welding gear, he doesnt care if its acetylene or propane and that he needs a soldering station, helmets, goggles and two sets of precision tools.
"I am Groot." Groot asked.
"I Hope he doesn't." Rocket replied.
"You're building it!?" Steve asked.
Tony didn't answer, hoping his silence would knock some sense into Steve. Come on who does Steve think he is? Of course he's not building it.
The scene cuts to Tony breaking down one of the bombs. Yinsen is watching him. Tony asks how many languages he speaks.
Yinsen answers him by saying that he speaks a lot but not enough for where they are, and tells Tony that they speak Arabic, Urdu, Dari, Pashto, Mongolian, Farsi, and Russian.
"That's a lot of languages." Clint said.
"Its most likely a strategy of some kind." Maria said.
Tony asks who those people are. Yinsen tells him that they're his loyal customers and that they call themselves the ten rings.
"Not my loyal customers." Tony said, a bit of an angry edge in his voice as he thought about Obie- Obadiah.
Yinsen tells Tony that they would be more productive if he was included in the planning process. Tony nods and says nothing.
"You would." Bruce agreed with Yinsen.
Tony pulls part a bomb out before tossing it away and saying that they don't need it.
He then holds up a small square of metal. Yinsen asks what it is.
Tony tells him that its palladium and its .15 grams and that they need 1.6 then tells Yinsen to break down the other eleven bombs.
"Palladium? What do you need that much of it for?" Bruce asked.
"Ummmm..." Tony trailed off.
"Tell me its not in your-" Strange started
"Its not... anymore." Tony said, cutting Strange off.
"Tony, that metal is toxic." Bruce reminded, though he was sure Tony knew of that fact.
"Yeah I know... I ran into that problem later."
The scene shows Yinsen pulling a smelting cup out of a fire. Tony tells him to be careful because they only have one chance.
Yinsen tells him to relax and that he has steady hands and thats why Tony is still alive. Then he pours what's in the cup into a mold.
Tony asks Yinsen what he should call him.
Yinsen tells Tells Tony his name.
Tony says its nice to meet him. Yinsen repeats the phrase.
A few people smiled. A little heartwarming moment before they potentially die.
Tony is shown putting together an object. Yinsen says that it doesn't look like the missile.
"That's because it isn't" Clint said.
Tony says its because its a miniaturized arc reactor and that he has a larger one powering his factory.
"You built that in a cave!?"pretty much the whole room yelled.
He continues by saying that it should keep the shrapnel away from his heart.
Yinsen asks what it could generate.
Tony says that of his math is right before comenting about how it always is, the reactor could generate 3 gigajoules per second.
The scientists in the room looked shocked. That could run his heart for millennia.
Yinsen says that it could run his heart for fifty lifetimes.
"That's like 4,000 years." Peter said.
"Well... It's not technically running my heart. It's powering a magnet that is keeping metal away from my heart, and the suit now I guess."
Tony agrees before saying that it could also run something larger for 15 minutes. He shows Yinsen some papers and says that this was their ticket out of there and grabs some sheets of paper to show Yinsen. Yinsen asks what it is. Tony tells him to flatten them and look. The papers are blueprints for a suit.
"So you did that in a cave too?" Scott asked.
"Yeah."
"You're very resourceful. I'll give you that." Shuri said.
Yinsen and Tony are playing a board game. Yinsen compliments Tony's roll as Tony takes one of his pieces.
Tony says Yinsen hasn't told him where he's from.
Yinsen says he's from Gulmira and that its a nice place.
Tony asks if he's got a family.
Yinsen says he does and he'll see them when he leaves this place, then asks if Tony has a family.
Tony says he doesn't. Yinsen comments that he is a man with everything and nothing.
"The people who want for nothing long for everything." Fury said. It was a saying he picked up a while ago, he heard it from someone and thought it was nice. He's a man who loves his sayings.
"You have me, Pepper and Happy, Tony." Rhodey told him.
Tony and Yinsen are seen working on the iron man suit through the camera in their room. People are talking about how he isn't building it, and that the tail is all wrong.
"They weren't very intelligent were they?" Bruce asked.
"Their leader, Raza, was probably the smartest among them." Tony said.
Tony and Yinsen continue to work on the suit, then Raza walks through the door. Yinsen and Tony put their hands up. Raza tells them to relax. Tony and Yinsen hesitantly put their hands down. Raza says that the bow and arrow was once the pinnacle of weapons technology.
"Still packs a punch if you use it right." Clint muttered.
"Well, you also use trick arrows not regular ones." Maria said.
"Yeah but I'm cool. I don't use modern weapons, I have a bow and arrow. That's a conversation starter."
He continues by saying it allowed Genghis Khan to rule from the pacific to the Ukraine.
"I don't know if Genghis Khan can be considered great." Steve said.
"Well it depends on who's talking about him, I guess." Bruce replied.
He says that it was an empire twice the size of Alexander the great and four times the size of that of the Romans. Then he says that today whoever has hold of the most recent Stark weapons rules the lands and says that it will be his turn soon.
"No, I don't think it will." Steve muttered.
Raza takes notice to Tony's blueprints and asks, in a foreign language, why they've failed him.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that they're working diligently.
"Yeah, working very hard. Just not what you wanted us to work on." Tony said.
Raza says, in a foreign language, that he let him live and this is how Yinsen repays him. Then walks toward him.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that its complex and they're trying very hard.
Tony looks around the room. A man grabs Yinsen and forces him to his knees.
A few people gasped.
Raza asks, in a foreign language, if Yinsen thinks he's a fool then says that he'll get the truth.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language,that they're both working. A gun is pointed at his head.
'Please don't kill him, he doesn't deserve to die.' Steve thought.
Raza pulls a hot coal out of the fire and tells Yinsen, in a foreign language, to open his mouth.
Tony asks what Raza wants.
Raza says asks, in a foreign language, if Yinsen thinks he's a fool and asks what's going on and tells Yinsen to tell him the truth. And lowers the coal to Yinsen's mouth.
A few people cringed and winced.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that Tony is building the Jericho.
Raza tells Yinsen,in a foreign language, to tell him the truth.
Yinsen tells Raza, in a foreign language, that Tony is building the Jericho.
Raza moves his hand closer to his mouth.
Tony moves closer and asks if Raza wants a delivery date.
"Bad idea." Natasha said.
The men by the door all point their guns at him. Tony says that he needs Yinsen because he's a good assistant. Raza drops the coal.
Everyone let out sighs of relief. 'They wont be relieved for long.' Tony thought sadly, remembering Yinsen's fate.
Raza says that they have until tomorrow to assemble the missile. Then Raza leaves with his men.
"Well at least he's a little intelligent." Rocket muttered.
"I am Groot?" Groot inquired.
"Well, he knows that somethings not right, granted he doesn't know exactly what that entails but he's suspicious." Gamora answered.
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Natasha added.
The scene cuts to Tony banging on a piece of metal with a hammer. He then dips in into water and puts it on the table that Yinsen is working at.
"You are a very good blacksmith, Tony." Thor complimented.
The scene shows Tony wrapping his hands in tape. In the background Yinsen is lifting up chest piece. Tony is putting a coat on now. Yinsen helps Tony put gloves on. He then fastens something around Tony's neck. Yinsen lets the chest piece down and onto Tony.
"Is that the first Iron Man suit?" Ned asked.
"Yep. Obviously the design has bee heavily refined, but the first one will always be special." Tony said.
"I thought you said you weren't nostalgic?" Pepper asked.
"Shh."
Yinsen asks if he can move. He makes a fist for emphasis. Tony makes a fist in response. Yinsen tells him to repeat their escape route.
Tony recites 41 steps forward then 16 steps from the door, fork right then 33 steps then turn right.
"You memorized that with a sack on your head, and you were only out there once!" Quill proclaimed.
"I had too." Tony said.
Raza walks up to the screens that show the camera feed he asks, in a foreign language, where Stark is. He asks a man next to him.
The man says, in a foreign language, that he was there a moment ago.
"That wasn't the question." Nebula said.
Raza tells them, in a foreign language, to look for him. Two men run off to the entrance to the cave. Raza continues looking at the screen that shows Yinsen working on the suit.
The men run up to the door calling for Tony and Yinsen.
Tony tells Yinsen to say something back to them.
Yinsen says that they're speaking Hungarian and he doesn't know the language.
Tony tells him to speak Hungarian.
"Because you can totally learn a language in 2 seconds." Clint said.
Yinsen tells him he knows something.
Tony asks him what he knows.
Yinsen says something in Hungarian.
"He does pretty well under pressure." Natasha said slowly. "Better than you." She said to Tony.
The camera shows a makeshift bomb tied to the handles. The men open the door and the bomb goes off, throwing the men back.
"Nice."
Raza is looking at the camera as the explosion happens, the feed is cut. He sends more men to the room. Tony asks how it worked.
Yinsen says it worked alright.
Tony says that that's what he does.
Rhodey and Pepper both sighed.
Yinsen tells him to let him finish the setup.
Tony says to initialize the power sequence.
Yinsen turns away and goes to the laptop on the table and asks Tony to tell him what to do.
Tony says Function 11 and tells Yinsen to tell him when he sees the progress bar and that it should be up.
"Have a little patience." Clint said.
"We were both probably going to die, how am I supposed to have patience then?" Tony asked.
Yinsen says he does.
Tony tells him to tell him when he has it.
Yinsen says he has it as a progress bar pops up on the screen.
Tony says to hit 'I' then 'Enter' and tells Yinsen to button him up.
Yinsen says that they're coming.
Tony tells him to finish buttoning him.
Yinsen says they're coming.
Tony says to make sure that the checkpoints are cleared before he follows him out.
Yinsen tells Tony that they need more time.
"He's right." Natasha said.
Yinsen says that he's gonna buy them some time.
Tony tells him to stick to the plan as Yinsen runs out of the room, picking up a gun and shooting at nothing.
"I've got a bad feeling about this." Ned whispers.
"I wish he would have stuck to the plan." Tony whispered.
The men start running down the 'hallway'. They run back, this time being chased by Yinsen. Yinsen continues running, still shooting when he comes to a stop. The camera pans to show a group of men with their weapons pointed at him.
"This won't end well for him." Scott said.
The computer is shown, the progress bar is filled up and the power in the cave drains.
5 men run into the cave and notice the 2 dead men on the ground. They slowly start to enter the cave. The screen shows Tony clenching his fist. One man takes notice to him as the arc reactor glows. Tony throws him across the room.
"Oh damn." Ned said.
The men start shooting wildly around the room. Tony comes up to them and throws them around. He walks down the hallway to a man that is still shooting at him. The left over men start running away. They run into a room and lock themselves in. Tony starts to bang on the door and it eventually opens. The men run. Tony swing at one of them and got his arm stuck in a crevice.
"Oh no."
"It was very bulky but, not bad for something made with scrap metal in a cave under constant surveillance." Tony said.
As he tries to get it out a man shoots at him. The bullet ricochets off of the helmet and hits the man instead. Raza walks out with a gun in his hand. Tony walks out and sees Yinsen lying injured on the ground. Raza shoots. Tony shoots back. Raza leaves.
"Oh he's hurt bad." Clint observed.
Tony walks over to Yinsen, who greets him.
Tony tells him that they have to go and that they had a plan and they need to stick to it.
Yinsen says that this was always the plan.
"No it wasn't." Clint said.
Natasha looked at the screen in realization, Yinsen was going to see his family, but his family was dead.
Tony says Yinsen is gonna see his family and tells him to get up.
Yinsen tells Tony that his famil is dead and that its okay he wants this.
Tony thanks Yinsen for saving him.
Yinsen tells Tony not to waste his life. Yinsen dies.
"I am groot." Groot says sadly.
"You're right buddy, he didn't deserve that." Quill said.
Tony was looking anywhere but onscreen.
"If anything, at least he was a peace with his fate." Gamora said.
Tony gets up quickly and walks out of the cave. People start to shoot at him. Tony says its his turn. Then he starts to light everything on fire.
"You're scary when your angry." Clint said.
"You do realize that you were lighting deadly explosives on fire right?" Steve asked.
"Yes capsicle."
A man on the top of a hill starts to shoot at him. Other people start as well. Tony falls to his knees. Then the explosives start going off. Tony gets up. Tony presses something on the arm of his suit and flies away.
"That thing could fly!?" Rocket asked.
"Well, not exactly."
Tony stays in the air for a few seconds then starts falling to the ground. The suit fell apart on impact. Tony looks around before saying that it wasn't bad.
"Oh." Rocket said.
"For something made in a cave, it really wasn't bad." Bruce said.
"It worked, got you out alive. I call that a win." Shuri said.
Tony is walking in the desert with his jacket tied over his head. His arm is covered in blood. Then two helicopters are seen flying over a hill behind him. Tony waves up at them.
He yells out and falls to his knees. He holds out a peace sign.
The helicopters land and a group of soldiers get out including Rhodey. They run over to him. Rhodey asks how the fun-vee was.
"Not very fun." Tony said.
Tony gives a fake laugh. Rhodey tells Tony that he's riding with him next time. They hug.
"Well that's one way to greet your friend after being missing for three months." Clint says.
Tony was about to ask how he knew that but then he remembered, spy.
Him and Rhodey just laughed. "Lets hope there's no next time, yeah?" Rhodey asks.
