The screen shows a woman pressing some buttons, sitting in a chair behind a window is Bruce banner, the woman looks at him, he winks.
"Bruce, you look different too." Tony commented.
"Yeah, a little bit." Bruce said.
The woman starts pressing more buttons, the word 'danger' flashes on the screen. Bruce's eyes turn a bright green and then he starts turning green.
Bruce looked away from the screen. This was the event that changed his life forever- ruined his life forever. The day he turned himself into the monster.
He started running toward the people behind the glass. He looked down at the woman's injured body. Two men with guns started shooting at him. He punches them out of the way and continues to destroy the lab.
"Holy shit." Scott whispered.
Bruce winced as he watched himself turn into the Hulk for the first time. That was one that he doesn't think he could ever forget. He'd hurt Betty, put her in the hospital. He can't ever forgive himself for that.
The scene flips to show the woman in a hospital bed.
"Was she okay." Peggy asked softly.
"Yeah, she uh, she lived, she's okay." Bruce answered, not really wanting to think about it. There was a reason he'd chosen to stay away.
Bruce is shown sitting by her bedside, a man comes in and kicks him out. Bruce leaves.
Flashes of different newspaper clippings appear on the screen. Soldiers are shown looking for him. Blueprints for weapons from Stark Industries appear on the screen.
"Bruce, I am so sorry." Tony said. Stark Industries was tasked with creating weapons to subdue the Hulk and Tony, only thinking about business, had agreed. Before Afghanistan, he'd never really thought about how his decisions with his company and the weapons they produced had effected others. But ever since then, it's been all he was able to think about.
Newspaper clippings and pictures continue to pop up. A metronome is ticking, flashes of different images appear on the screen, Bruce grabs the object to stop it.
"Meditation? I never pegged you for the spiritual type, Banner." Natasha commented.
The words 'Days without incident: 158' appear on screen.
"Wow. 5 months. That's not bad." Quill said. Bruce just sighed.
The screen pans out to show a neighborhood in Brazil. Bruce is shown cooking something, he feeds a dog some of it. He asks if its ready.
"Aw, the dog is so cute." Shuri cooed.
"I miss him." Bruce said sadly, he hadn't been able to take the dog with him after he'd been driven out his home and Hulk left the country.
He picks up his plate and a Portuguese dictionary and sits in front of the TV, he flips through the channels and finally settles on 'Sesame Street'.
"Ok, but why Sesame Street?" Peter asked.
"Sesame Street is a good show." Bruce defended himself.
He flips open the dictionary and eats his food.
Bruce is fighting someone, the man flips Bruce over his shoulder a few times, then Bruce copies the move.
"Why are you fighting? I thought that was what you wanted to avoid." Natasha asked.
"It was less about the fighting and more about testing my control." Bruce explained. "Also basic self-defense is good for everyone."
The man says to work on his breathing. They are now sitting on the floor across from each other. The man puts his hand up against his chest and says that fear isn't good, so Bruce needs to focus emotion and control.
"Makes sense." Natasha said. "Control your emotions so they can't control you."
Then he does some breathing exercises and tells Bruce to use his diaphragm. The man does a weird thing with his stomach.
"What did he just do?" Peter asked.
He tells Bruce the best way to control his anger is to control his body and his pulse, then he tells him to breathe. Bruce does the exercise again, the man slaps him.
"Why did he hit you?" Ned asked.
"He was testing me." Bruce said.
Bruce's watch starts beeping, He starts breathing heavily. The man tells him to breathe and slaps him again.
Bruce tells him to wait and he looks at his watch which says 146 bpm.
"That's really high." Tony commented. "Can't be good."
Bruce is in a locker room with a bunch of other men. A group walks past him and he gets knocked into the locker.
"That was rude." Wanda said.
"Yeah, they weren't very nice people." Bruce said.
People are working in a factory and Bruce is pushing a cart with some boxes. He moves the boxes from one cart to another. Someone tries to get his attention and calls him 'Tech Guy'. Something is sparking.
"Tech guy?" Quill asked.
"I fixed a lot of things for them." Bruce answered.
Bruce puts his glasses on and fixes it and says that he can make it work for a while but the man needs-(Something in Portuguese, no captions.)
The man makes a joke about needing a new factory.
A few people chuckled. When things start going quicker than you can replace them it's best to just leave it and start over.
Then the man tells Bruce that he's been helping out for 5 months and he should be put on payroll.
"I can't really do that if I'm a fugitive." Bruce said.
"Wait, you were a fugitive? For what?" Quill asked.
"Allegedly, I stole military secrets." Bruce replied.
Bruce cuts his finger on something, the blood starts falling through cracks in the floor.
"Oh no." Shuri said, worried. There was radiation in Dr. Banner's blood and it could very well kill someone.
Bruce panics and says to shut the machine off. He starts running through the factor and starts searching for his blood on the bottles. He wipes it up and uses super glue to cover the wound.
"Why did you use superglue?" Drax asked.
"You use what you have on hand." All of the spies (Fury, Maria, Clint, Natasha, Coulson, Peggy and Bucky) answered in perfect unison as if it were a lesson that they'd been taught over and over again. Which, it probably was.
He gives the man the okay to turn the machine back on. One of the bottles had a drop of blood on it.
"No, how did I miss that!?" Bruce panicked, praying that somehow no one drank that bottle even though he knew how unlikely that was.
The bottle goes through the factory and gets shipped out. A man is harassing one of the women from earlier. Bruce looks at them and walks away.
"Don't just turn the other way Bruce." Natasha sighed.
Bruce walks back in and over to them. He asks the woman, Martina, if she'd like to have lunch with him.
The man Martina is with tells Bruce to get lost and calls him Gringo, then they start arguing.
Bruce says, in Portuguese, not to make him hungry, forgetting the word for angry.
"I don't think that's what you wanted to say." Natasha said, laughing quietly.
"It was a new language." Bruce protested.
Bruce then says, in Portuguese, that he wouldn't like him when he's hungry.
"You're not you when you're hungry. Eat a Snickers." Peter recited.
Bruce says to himself that that isn't the right word.
"No, it isn't." Clint says with a smile.
The man swings at Bruce, the boss yells at them, Bruce walks away with Martina.
"Well, at least she doesn't have to deal with that asshole." MJ said.
Bruce is shown running through the neighborhood to his house. He grabs a backpack from under his bed and tells his dog that it's his ticket out of there. He walks over to a table and sets his stuff down. He opens his backpack and pulls out a few things, one of which is a picture of Betty Ross.
Everyone smiled at that. Well, everyone except Bruce. He missed Betty so much. He regretted leaving her... twice, but they can't- he can't be in a relationship, it wouldn't be fair to her either. Those type of life plans were erased as soon as he Hulked out for the first time in that lab.
On a computer he types 'Blue, are you there?'
"Who's Blue?" Howard asked.
"Someone I thought would help me." Bruce answered, teeth gritted.
'Mr Green, good hearing from you my mysterious friend'
'I found it'
"What's 'it'" Steve asked.
"Something I thought would cure me." Bruce answered. He got his hopes up so often when a new 'cure' was brought to his attention. The 'cures' obviously never worked, though.
'At long last, it's a lovely little flower isn't it. be sure to try a high dose, good luck.'
Bruce takes out the flower, he starts clipping the petals into a bowl. He liquifies it and pours it into a bottle.
"How is a flower supposed to help you with your Hulk problem?" Maria asked.
"It was supposed to help remove the radiation from my blood cells." Bruce answered.
Bruce pricks his finger and puts the blood on a piece of glass then adds the liquid to it and places it under a microscope, He looks through it and notices the green disappearing from his blood cells.
"Spoiler alert, it didn't work." Bruce said. "As if you... couldn't tell."
The green comes back into his blood cells and breaks the glass. Bruce sighs. He messages Mr Blue. 'Another failure.'
'How much did you use?'
Bruce looks at the flower stems. 'All of it.'
'Then, it's time to meet.'
"Or maybe not." Bruce said, wishing that he hadn't gone back to the states to meet with Sterns, wishing he hadn't sent the blood sample. But, you can't change the past you can only learn from it.
'Not safe.'
'Living with gamma poisoning not safe stop chasing flowers, send me a blood sample. can't help if you won't let me.'
"Something seems off about this guy." Fury said.
"Something was off with that guy." Bruce said.
"Maybe living with gamma poisoning isn't safe for the average human being, but Dr. Banner doesn't seem to me like the average human being." Strange said. Stark was right about that, the radiation should've killed him almost instantly but it didn't so there is something about Bruce's genetic makeup that allows him to live the way he does.
Bruce is seen drawing blood from his arm. He puts it into a small bottle, then into a box and sends it off.
"Probably shouldn't have done that." Bruce said quietly. That was the last time he'd ever reached out to someone else to cure him. From that point on he only allowed himself to run such tests.
"Why?" Quill asked.
General Ross is at his desk, he's smoking. A woman hands him a paper and says that its something interesting, she says that its possible gamma sickness in Milwaukee.
Bruce froze. There's no way that was a coincidence.
An old man (Stan Lee) opens his fridge and takes out a bottle that has blood on it.
"Oh no." Bruce said.
She tells Ross that a man drank a guarana soda and it had a little more of a kick than he was expecting.
The man drinks the soda, then drops the bottle.
"Oh my God." Bruce groaned, putting his head in his hands. He couldn't even work in a remote factory without hurting someone.
Ross asks where it was bottled.
The woman says it was bottled in Porto Verde, Brazil.
"Shit, he's gonna find you." Quill said.
"And he won't be subtle about it either." Bruce said.
Ross says to have their people look for a white man at the bottling plant, and not to contact him because if Bruce sees them he's gone.
"Asshole." Scott muttered.
'Fort Johnson- Everglades' appears on the screen. Trucks and helicopters pull up outside. A man tells Ross about the man he found for him, he introduces Blonsky saying that he was Russian born but he was raised in England and that he was with the royal marines. Blonsky steps out of the helicopter.
Bruce glares at Blonsky. He didn't like the man very much but at the same time, Bruce almost pitied him. Blonsky had turned himself into a monster under the impression that he was doing the right thing to take him down.
"Is he, putting a sort of team together to find you?" Gamora asked.
Ross tells the man that he knows he cashed some chips for this.
The man says he was glad to help and tells Ross to make it good.
"Or, he could give up this pointless capture." Tony said.
"He's risking lives to bring in someone he knows can and- no offence Bruce- likely will try to wipe them all out should they piss him off." Clint said.
The plane takes off. Inside the plane a woman starts speaking, she tells them about the target and location and says they need to capture Bruce alive and live fire is only for backup. She says that there's locals around so they need to keep the capture tight and quiet. Blonsky asks if Bruce is a fighter.
"I'd say I'm more of a runner." Bruce said quietly. "The other guy is the fighter."
Ross says that Bruce is a fugitive of the US government, he says that Bruce stole military secrets.
"I don't remember stealing any military secrets." Bruce said, glaring at Ross.
Ross says Bruce and caused the deaths of 2 scientists, a military officer, an Idaho state trooper, and 2 Canadian hunters and tells Blonsky not to wait and see if Bruce is a fighter and to just tranquilize him and bring him back.
Bruce cringed, not wanting to be reminded of the blood on his hands.
Bruce is seen lying in his bed, his computer beeps. Mr Blue messages him. 'Good news, preliminary blood tests show significant gamma reduction'
'Will it cure me?'
'Yes'
"No." Bruce corrected, a little bitter.
'But, I need more data Exposure levels, gamma concentration, cell saturation.'
'Impossible, data is not here.'
"Where is it?" Tony asked.
"With Betty Ross." Bruce sighed.
'Where is it?'
'Home.'
