Tony's house appears. 'Malibu, California' appears on the screen. Tony appears in his lab. He claps his hands twice, music starts playing and all of his screens turn on as well as the lights. He says to wake up because he's home and calls himself 'daddy.'
"Daddy?" Clint laughs.
JARVIS welcomes him back and congratulates him on the opening ceremonies. He says that they were a success and so was his senate hearing.
"Success isn't the word I would use." Pepper said.
JARVIS says its refreshing to see Tony in a video with his clothes on.
"Wow." Clint said.
"Yeah uh... not exactly my best moments." Tony sighed.
The video from the senate hearing appears on one of the screens. YOU is making a smoothie, but he just makes a mess. Tony scolds him and says that he'll dismantle him, soak his motherboard and turn him into a wine rack.
"You should be more nice to your offspring." Shuri said.
"My offspring?" Tony questions.
"Well, you created it. Therefore it is your offspring." Shuri said.
"Can't argue with that logic." Tony agreed.
YOU looks down. Tony pours a glass of green liquid and calls it gobbledygook, and asks how much of it he's supposed to drink.
"What is, and I quote here, 'gobbledygook.'" Strange asked.
"Liquid chlorophyll. Would anyone like to try some?" Tony asked.
The room went silent. "Screw it, I'm curious. I actually want to drink it now." Scott said, a glass appeared in front of him. "Uh thank you?" He says and picked up the glass and drank some. "Hmm. Its not as bad as I thought, its not particularly good either, but not bad." He said. Everyone looked at him like he was crazy.
JARVIS says he has to drink 80 ounces a day to counteract the symptoms.
Tony says to check his palladium levels.
"Palladium? That's what's poisoning you?" Bruce asked, suspicions confirmed. "It's because of the arc reactor isn't it?"
Tony pricks his finger on the device from earlier. 'Blood toxicity: 24%' it reads. JARVIS reads off the data and says that the continuous use of the suit is accelerating the condition. Tony looks at screens that show the condition of his body. JARVIS says that another reactor core is depleted. Tony lifts his shirt and takes the arc reactor out.
"Is that a-" Howard started.
"Yes." Tony answered, he already knew the end of that question.
"And it is inside your-" Howard started again.
"yes." Tony confirms.
"Why?" Howard asked.
"I'm sure it'll get mentioned." Tony said.
The palladium core gets ejected. Tony takes it out, the core is rusted.
"That doesn't look good." Sam said.
Tony says that the cores are running out fast.
JARVIS says that he's run simulations on every known element and that none of them are viable replacements for palladium.
Okoye, Shuri and T'Challa frowned. Vibranium would work but Tony didn't have access to it, but judging by the fact that he was sitting in the same room as them, decidedly not dead, maybe he did.
Tony opens a box and takes out a new core, he puts it in the arc reactor and puts the arc reactor back in his chest. JARVIS says that he's running out of time and options and says that the device that's supposed to keep Tony alive is killing him. Tony looks into a mirror, dark lines cover his chest.
"Its keeping you alive!?" The people who weren't there for the first film (Howard, Peggy, Hope, Sam, Okoye, Carol, Valkyrie, May) shouted. Tony nodded.
Howard was confused. What had happened to his son that he needed to rely on that to keep him alive?
JARVIS tells Tony that Pepper is approaching and tells Tony that he should tell Pepper about his condition. Tony drops his shirt from his mouth and mutes JARVIS.
"You haven't told her!?" Almost everyone shouted. Pepper just glared at him.
"I wish you would have told her." Vision said.
Tony closes the box and all the screens switch to screen saver. Pepper puts in a code and enters the lab. Tony continues drinking his chlorophyll. He shakes his head and points at the door.
Pepper asks if its a joke. Tony finishes his drink as Pepper walks toward him and asks what he was thinking.
"What did you do?" Wanda asked.
"Uh..." Tony said.
Tony stands up and starts walking away and says that he's thinking that he's busy and that Pepper is angry. He asks her if she has the sniffles and says he doesn't want to get sick.
"Cause you're dying." pepper said angrily.
Pepper asks if he donated their modern art collection to the Boy scouts of America.
Tony's holograms pop up as she says this. Tony grabs a hologram and rolls it into a ball and tosses it into a hologram basket and says that he did because it is a worthwhile organization and says that it isn't their collection its his collection then swipes some holograms away.
"You could've at least donated it to an organization that would have some use for it." Natasha said.
Pepper says she's entitled to say that its their collection because she spent more than 10 years curating it.
Tony says that it was a tax write off and that he needed it.
Pepper says that there are 8,011 things she needs to speak with him about.
"That's a lot of things." Sam said.
Tony looks at Dummy and tells him to stop spacing out.
"How can a robot space out?" Scott asked.
"I don't know, but Dummy and YOU have it down to a science." Tony said.
Pepper says that the Expo is a waste of time.
Tony tells her that she should wear a mask until she's feeling better.
"That's a bit rude, don't you think?" MJ said.
Pepper says that that was rude.
Tony says that there isn't anything more important than the Expo and that its his main point of concern.
Pepper says that the Expo is his ego gone crazy.
"Yeah, little bit." Rhodey agreed.
Tony sees an Iron Man painting sitting on the floor and says its modern art and he's going to hang it up.
Pepper says that Stark is in disarray and asks if he understands.
Tony says that their stocks have never been higher.
Pepper says that that's from a managerial standpoint.
"Geez you two argue like an old married couple." Natasha joked.
"Just imagine how bad it'll be if and when they actually get married." Rhodey said.
Tony says they can double back.
Pepper asks to let her give an example.
Tony asks to change subjects.
"Its like watching a really fast tennis match with all of the back and forth." Clint said.
Tony speed walks over to the counter in the corner of the lab. Pepper tells him not to take down the Barnett Newman painting and hang up his Iron Man one.
Tony says he isn't and that he's just replacing it.
"You are taking it down though." Ned said.
Tony gets up on the counter and takes down a picture and puts the Iron Man paining in its place. Pepper says that her point is that they awarded contracts to the wind farm people.
Tony says not to say wind farm because he's feeling gassy.
"Dude." Scott said.
Pepper adds another to the list and says that the workers are on payroll and that it was his idea.
Tony agrees.
Pepper says that he wont make a decision.
"He probably never will." Maria said.
Tony says he doesn't care about the liberal agenda because its boring and tells Pepper to do it.
Pepper asks what he wants her to do.
Tony says that she should run the company.
"So this is how you became CEO." Natasha said.
Pepper says that that's what she's trying to do.
Tony says he needs her to run the company.
Pepper says he's not giving her the information she needs.
Tony says he needs her to stop trying and actually do it.
"You two are having two completely different conversations." Rhodey said.
"It happens fairly frequently." Pepper said.
Tony says Pepper isn't listening to him.
Pepper says Tony isn't listening to her.
"You're not listening to each other!" Everyone shouted.
Tony says he's trying to make her CEO and asks why she wont let him.
"Because I didn't know that that's what you were trying to do." Pepper said.
Pepper asks if he's been drinking.
Tony says he's been drinking chlorophyll.
"Gross." Peter said.
Tony appoints her chairman and CEO of Stark Industries and that its effective immediately. He walks away to where YOU is holding champagne and says he's actually given it some thought whether or not she believes it.
"Really?" Natasha asked.
"Of course." Tony said.
He says that he was trying to figure out who a worthy successor would be and then he says he realized that it was always Pepper. He pours 2 glasses or champagne and says he thought that there might be a legal issue but he is capable of appointing his successor. He hands her a glass and congratulates her.
Pepper says she doesn't know what to think.
Tony tells her not to think and tells her to drink.
"Must be your life motto." Rhodey jokes.
Back in Russia a man hands Ivan something. Ivan opens it and its a fake ID, Passport and train ticket.
Some people looked worried. "He's gonna come for you." Gamora said.
Pepper walks into a room, Happy and Tony are Boxing. Pepper says that the notary's there and asks Tony to sign the transfer papers.
Tony says he's on Happy time and punches Happy a few times.
Pepper rolled her eyes.
Happy goes to punch him back, tony swipes his hand down and punches him in the face and apologizes.
Happy asks what that was.
Tony says that it was mixed martial arts and it's been around for 3 weeks.
Happy says it was dirty boxing and that there wasn't anything new about it.
"Well, most fighting isn't ever clean." Natasha said.
Natasha walks into the room, happy and Tony turn to look at her. Pepper says she promises that this is the only time she'll ask him to sign over the company.
Natasha walks over to her and tells her to initial the boxes.
Happy hits Tony on the head and tells him not to take his eyes off the opponent. Tony kicks him across the ring.
Everyone laughed.
Happy say's he's done and takes off his equipment.
"Poor Happy." Pepper said.
Tony picks up his water bottle and asks Natasha for her name. Natasha says her name is Natalie Rushman.
"Hello Natalie." All of the avengers Greeted.
"Hello." Natasha responded.
Tony invites her into the ring.
Pepper tells him not to.
Natasha says it isn't a problem and and starts walking to the ring. Tony lifts the rope so she can get in, she enters.
Tony takes a drink from his water bottle and asks Happy to giver Natasha a lesson.
"I think it's gonna end up being the other way around." Clint said.
He sits down next to Pepper and asks about Natasha. Pepper says that she is from legal and she's a potentially expensive sexual harassment lawsuit if he keeps ogling her.
Tony says he needs a new assistant.
"Do you really, though?" Quill asked.
Pepper says she has 3 candidates lined up.
Tony says he doesn't have time and ne needs a new assistant and he thinks it should be Natasha.
"What a coincidence, I thought the same." Natasha joked.
Pepper denies the request.
Happy asks Natasha if she's ever boxed.
Natasha says she has.
"An understatement." Clint said.
Happy starts mocking her.
"Happy don't taunt the woman." Tony scolded.
"Yeah I learned that the hard way." Happy sighed.
Tony asks Natasha how to spell her name.
Natasha spells it out for him. Tony claps his, still gloved hands and a keyboard appears on the table.
Pepper asks if he's googling her.
"Yep." Clint said.
Tony says Natasha is and impressive woman and notices that she's fluent in French, Italian, Russian and Latin, he then asks Pepper who speaks Latin.
Pepper says that no one does and calls it a dead language before saying that you can read and write in Latin but you can't speak it.
"I mean you can speak it, it's just that not very many people do anymore." Peter said. "It's just one of those skills that people have just because."
"It's useful for prefixes and things of that nature." Natasha added. "Also, I'm not going to lie, I like the language."
He asks Pepper if she modeled in Tokyo because Natasha did.
"Oh I remember that, that was fun." Natasha said with a smile.
Tony says that Natasha is everything he needs. Natasha is looking at them, listening in on their conversation.
"Hire me." Natasha said. "You know you wanted to." Tony rolled his eyes.
Happy tells her not to take her eyes of the opponent and goes to punch her. Natasha takes his fist, twists it and flips over his head, knocking him down.
"Damn, you have got to teach me how to do that." MJ said, she wanted to be able to take down people 2 times bigger than her too. Natasha smirked.
Tony is impressed, Pepper is worried. Happy says that he just slipped.
"Sure." Natasha said.
Tony hits a bell and says that it looked like a TKO.
Natasha gets out of the ring and says she needs Tony's impression.
Tony says that she has a quiet reserve and that she has an old soul.
"I- I don't think that's what she meant." May said.
Natasha says she meant she needed his fingerprint.
Tony puts his fingerprint on the paper. Pepper asks how they're doing.
Tony says that they're finishing up.
Natasha asks Tony if that will be all.
Natasha leaves and Tony says he wants her.
Pepper tells him no.
"Don't we all, though." Clint joked.
Natasha gave him a funny look. "What?"
'Monaco' appears on the screen.
"Oh my God." Pepper and Natasha groaned.
Tony, Pepper and Happy all get out of a car and starts walking into a building. Tony says that whatever happens in the next 20 minutes to go with it because its Europe.
Pepper asks what she's going with.
"So naïve." Happy said.
Natasha walks up to them and asks how their flight was.
Tony says it was excellent and that its good to see Natasha. A waiter walks up to them, Tony takes two drinks from him.
Natasha says that they have a photographer from ACM if they don't mind and she takes the drinks back.
"Why?" Tony asked.
"Why do you think?" Natasha asked.
Pepper asks when that happened.
Tony says she made him do it.
"But did she?" MJ asked.
Pepper asks what she made him do.
A photographer starts taking pictures, Tony tells her to smile, to stop acting constipated and not to flare her nostrils.
"Wow, camera advice from Tony Stark, I should be so honored." Pepper said, sarcastically.
Pepper says that Tony is predictable.
Tony says its an amazing thing.
The photographer walks away, Tony walks over to Natasha who tells them to follow her.
Tony says she looks fantastic.
"You really do." Peggy commented. "The pink is a good color on you."
Natasha thanks him.
Tony says its unprofessional and asks about his schedule.
Natasha says he has a dinner at 9:30.
Tony says he'll be there at 11.
"You plan to be late?" T'Challa asked.
They walk over to a table, Tony asks if its theirs.
Natasha says that it can be.
Tony tells her to make it theirs.
Everyone rolled their eyes. Tony was so picky sometimes. It was annoying sometimes, honestly.
Pepper walks up to Elon Musk and asks how he is.
"You guys know Elon Musk?" Clint asked.
"We're like... casual acquaintances." Tony said. "Very casual."
Elon congratulates her on her promotion.
Tony walks over and asks how Elon is doing and tells him that the merlin engines are fantastic.
Elon thanks him and says he has an idea for an electric jet.
Tony says they'll make it work and then asks Pepper if she wants a massage. They leave Elon alone.
"That was a random question to ask." Ned said.
Tony says he can have Natasha make an appointment.
Pepper says she doesn't want her to.
Tony says he doesn't want Pepper to be tense and says he didn't mean to spring all of this on her.
"Well..."Natasha said.
Pepper thanks him.
Tony tells her that green isn't her color.
Justin's head pops out from behind a row of people and he greets Tony.
"Oh, great this asshole." Rhodey sighed.
Tony tells Pepper that hammer is his least favorite person on Earth.
Hammer walks over to them and asks Tony how he's doing before saying that he isn't the only rich guy there with a fancy car, he then introduces Christine and asks if they know each other. Christine comes into view.
"Oh! Its her again." Scott said. "We all remember her."
Pepper, Tony and Christine all say that they know each other.
Hammer tells Christine that Pepper is the new CEO if Stark industries.
Christine says she knows and that her editor would kill her if she didn't get a quote for their powerful women issue, then asks if she can.
Hammer says that Christine is doing a spread on him for Vanity Fair and that he thought he should throw her a bone.
Pepper says that she did a spread on Tony last year.
"I hope you don't mean that in the way I think you did." May said.
Tony says that Christine also wrote a story.
May sighed, it was meant in the way she thought.
Tony and Pepper says that the story was impressive and well done.
Christine thanks them.
Pepper says that she's going to wash up, then she leaves.
Tony asks her not to leave him.
"Oh, poor Tony." Pepper mocked.
Hammer asks Tony how he's doing.
Tony says he's alright.
Another photographer comes into view. Christine tries to interview them, Hammer is talking to the photographer.
"This is just chaos at its finest." Scott said.
Christine asks if this is the first time that Hammer and Tony have seen each other since the Senate Hearing.
Tony comments about Hammer getting his contract revoked.
Rocket snorted. "That's rough."
Hammer says its just on hold.
Tony asks for the difference between hold and canceled.
"Wow, you really don't like him." Clint observed.
Hammer asks her to put her device away and says that he's planning to present something at the Expo.
"Really wish he didn't do that." Rhodey mumbled.
Tony says he can get a slot once he invents something that works.
"Burn." Shuri said.
Natasha walks up to them and tells Tony that the table is ready. She and Tony start to leave.
Hammer says that he has a slot.
Tony tells Christine that Hammer needs a slot.
Hammer says that he and Tony joke.
"Seriously, what is up with this guy?" Quill asked.
Tony is in the bathroom, he does another blood test. 'Blood toxicity: 53%'.
"That's not good." Gamora said. It was getting worse, quicker.
He looks in the mirror and asks himself if he has anymore bad ideas.
"What are you about to do?" Bruce asked.
"Something stupid." Tony said.
"No I gathered that, but what is the stupid thing?" Bruce asked.
Tony is in a racing suit, a group of people following him. He jumps the fence to get onto the track.
"You're an idiot." Bucky said. Tony's antics reminded him a bit of pre-serum Steve who was always getting himself into fights.
"I've been made aware of that, thank you." Tony responded.
This is playing on TV behind Justin who's still talking to Christine. Hammer says that he loves Tony and Tony loves him, he says that they aren't competitors and that him being out of the picture created a lot of opportunities for Hammer Industries.
"This guy." Peter sighed. "This guy is annoying."
He turns around to watch the TV and says that everything he and Tony do is healthy competition.
Tony, who's on TV, asks what the purpose of having a racecar is if he doesn't drive it.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed!?" Howard shouted.
Tony looked ready to respond. "You probably shouldn't answer that." Pepper said, now knowing that: yes, Tony was likely trying to get himself killed.
Hammer asks if Tony's driving.
"What does it look like." Tony asked.
"Tony... now would be a good time not to talk." Rhodey said.
Pepper is sitting at a table alone watching this she calls for Natasha using the name Natalie and asks her what she knows about Tony driving.
Natasha says that its the first she's heard of it.
"I managed to catch you off guard?" Tony asked, excitedly.
"Little bit." Natasha said. Holding up her thump and index finger, which were pinched so close together that you couldn't really see the gap between them.
Pepper says that it cant happen.
Natasha asks how she can help.
Pepper tells her to get Happy.
"Really overdoing it on the politeness aren't you Nat?" Clint asked. Natasha glared at him.
Justin is still talking to Christine, who doesn't look like she's paying much attention. Hammer tells her that he and Tony aren't competitive. Christine quickly takes her leave.
"What is she doing?" Gamora asked herself.
Tony starts revving his engine. The race starts. Ivan is shown, dressed like the rest of the pit crew, walking along side the track.
"Oh no." Howard said.
It cuts back to the race, Pepper is watching it on the TV. Ivan walks onto the track, rips open his shirt and his arc reactor starts powering up.
"Oh shit." Ned said.
He powers up his weapon and it burns some of his shirt off. He slices part of a car in half, the car crashes.
Happy walks into the room holding a red case, Pepper runs to him and they get in a car.
"What is so special about the case?" Valkyrie asked.
"You'll see." Tony said.
Happy drives onto the race track, going in the opposite direction of all the cars.
"And I'm the one who's trying to get myself killed?" Tony asked.
"Yes." Happy responded. Happy was a security guard, as of very recently. His job was to nearly get himself killed or maimed or seriously injured in order to make sure that Tony didn't. If you put it that way, Happy isn't very good at his job.
Tony drives up to where Ivan is. Ivan slices part of the car off and the car flips he starts advancing toward Tony. Tony takes off his helmet. A few cars come up behind Ivan, they crash into one another.
Happy and Pepper are still driving Pepper says to give her the case.
Happy tells her to take it.
Pepper asks where the key is.
Happy says its in his pocket.
"This is anxiety inducing." Ned whispered to Peter.
Ivan slices another part of the car off, looking for Tony but he's not there.
"Where'd you go?" Scott asked.
Tony comes up behind him and hits him on the head with a piece of metal. Ivan whacks him with one of his lightning strips a few times. Tony runs toward another car, but falls down. He notices the car is leaking gas so he stays there, waiting.
"What are you doing?" Rhodey asked.
"Just wait." Tony said.
Ivan walks toward him, smacking his lightning ropes on the ground. He gets close, Tony quickly rolls away as Ivan hits the car and it explodes.
"That was a smart move." Natasha observed.
Tony notices his sleeve is on fire, he beats it out. Happy drives up behind Ivan. Tony sees and jumps onto the fence, Happy hits Ivan with his car.
"Hit me! Hit me with your car!" Shuri yelled. T'Challa looked at her, worried and confused. Peter, Ned and MJ laughed.
Tony hops down from the fence Happy asks if he's okay. Pepper is screaming in the background.
Tony says he is and asks Happy who he was aiming for.
"Don't yell at the man who just saved your life." Steve sighed.
Happy says he was trying to scare Ivan.
Pepper asks Tony is he's out of his mind.
"Yes." Everyone answered.
Tony says they need better security.
Pepper tells him to get in the car.
Tony says he was attacked.
"To be fair, you probably wouldn't have been attacked if you didn't decide to drive." Thor said.
"No... I would have, he would've come after me wither way. He wants revenge- justice, whatever you wanna call it- I guess that depends on how you see it." Tony said.
He says they need better security.
Happy tells him to get in the car.
Tony says that the lack of security measures is embarrassing and he walks behind the car to get in on the other side. Ivan cuts the door in half. Happy repeatedly slams into him. Tony says to hit him again. Pepper struggles to hand Tony the case.
"Chaos." Ned said.
Ivan starts hitting the car with his lightning whips. He slices a side of the car off. Pepper throws him the case and it is revealed to be a suit.
"So that's what the case was." Scott commented.
Tony suits up and kicks the car away. He tries to shoot at Ivan, but Ivan hits him. Tony shoots at him a few times. Ivan tangles his lightning whips on Tony's neck and arms, then throws him to the side using the whips as leverage. Tony starts to tangle himself in the whips and walks toward Ivan, punches him and uses the whips to throw him to the ground.
"Use his own weapon against him." Thor said. "Clever."
He walks over to him, and pulls the arc reactor out. Police start to lift Ivan and take him away. Ivan spits blood at him and tells Tony that he loses. Tony crushes the arc reactor.
"What does he mean by 'You'll lose'?" T'Challa asked.
"He knew something, not sure how he knew but- yeah, he knew something about me and my health... issue. The toxicity in my blood." Tony answered, vaguely
Hammer is still watching this in TV, he smirks.
"I knew there was something off about that guy!" Rocket shouted.
Tony is walking through a hallway, there are three men in suits with him, they're speaking French. He says that they ran his prints but they don't have a name.
Tony, In French, asks where they're going.
"You speak French?" Clint asked.
"I speak a few languages, its useful when you're a businessman to not have to deal with the whole language barrier." Tony responded.
The man, in French, tells him and says that they don't know if Ivan speaks English because he hasn't spoken since he got there.
Tony says, in French, to give him 5 minutes, then he walks in and the door shuts. Ivan is sitting on a bench, in his skivvies. Tony starts walking over and says, in English, that Ivan had decent tech but the cycles per second were slow and that he could have doubled the rotations.
"What are you doing, man?" Rhodey asked.
He says that Ivan focused the repulsor energy through plasma channels and that it was effective but inefficient. He says its a passible knock-off and says that he could have made a solid paycheck with some fine tuning, and tells him he could have sold it.
"Why are you giving him ideas?" Hope asked.
"Yeah... that wasn't a smart move on my part, I'll admit." Tony said.
Tony sits down and says that it looks like Ivan has friends in low places.
Ivan says Tony comes from a family of thieves and butchers, and that he's trying to rewrite his history like all other guilty men. He tells Tony that he forgets all the lives that the Stark family destroyed.
"My grandfather sold fruit, I hardly think that passes as a thief or butcher." Tony said. "My father.. me... we could pass for butchers."
Tony asks Ivan where he got the design.
Ivan says he got it from his father.
Tony glared at Howard. Yet another thing his fathers done that come back to bite him in the ass.
"So this rivalry goes back in the bloodline?" Peter asked. "That's dumb, pushing your problems onto your kids I mean. Why should they be brought into this feud that will never effect them and has never effected them?"
Tony says he's never heard of him.
Ivan says that his father is the only reason Tony's alive.
"Part of the reason, he's still alive you mean. Anton didn't do that work by himself." Howard said.
Tony says that the reason he's alive is because Ivan missed his shot.
"You two are talking about two different near death experiences." Wanda mumbled. It felt weird to use the plural version of the word. People nearly die a lot, it seems.
Ivan says that if he can make god bleed, people will stop believing in him and that there will be blood in the water and sharks will come. He tells Tony that all he needs to do is sit back and watch the world consume him.
Tony says he'll be watching from a prison cell and tells Ivan he'll send him a bar of soap.
"Don't taunt, do none of you learn your lesson? Taunting makes things worse." Maria said.
Ivan comments about palladium in the chest being a painful way to die.
"I am Groot." (How did he know that)
"How did he know that?" Gamora translated.
"I guess he knew that I had the arc reactor in my chest and since he knows how it works and palladium is a toxic element, he figured out that it was poisoning me. Don't know how he knew it was in my chest." Tony said. "No one knew it was in my chest. I do my best to keep it hidden for a reason."
Senator Stern is talking about Tony on TV. He says that Monaco proves that Tony doesn't know what he's doing and that he thinks the suit is a toy.
"I'm pretty sure I don't but please continue trying to make your point." Tony said, annoyed.
Tony walks in with a plate in his hand.
Stern says that Tony was sure that the suits didn't exist anywhere else for 5 to 10 years and says that the world is realizing that they exist now.
"Technically... just because one person figured it out doesn't mean that everyone will. And it was by chance that Anton Vanko also worked on the arc reactor, if that wasn't a factor than maybe Stark would've been right about what he said in the courtroom. But I can understand where Stern is coming from, someone else has the technology and Stark was being very reckless in Monaco. Strange said.
Tony mutes the TV and says that Stern should be giving him a medal and sets the plate down and sits across from Pepper.
"He did eventually." Tony said, Rhodey smirked.
Pepper asks what's on the plate. Tony takes the lid off the plate, it is revealed to be a burnt omelet.
"Is that even edible?" Wanda asked.
"Just because it doesn't look appetizing doesn't mean it's inedible." Tony said.
"Tony, honey, it was nearly charred all over the outside. How do you manage to char an omelet?" Pepper asked.
Pepper asks if he just made it.
Tony asks her where she thinks he's been for the last 3 hours.
"You spent three hours making that?" Rhodey asked, incredulously.
"Leave me alone." Tony said.
"No, I think it's nice. It's the thought that counts, right?" Rhodey asked.
Pepper asks Tony what he's not telling her.
"Just that you're dying!" Pepper said, angrily.
"Okay, I did try to tell you at one point but you wouldn't let me!" Tony said.
"That's not the point. You had plenty of opportunities beforehand and instead of telling someone you nearly got yourself killed, threw a giant house party, and you and Rhodes destroyed the house at said party because you wouldn't listen when we all tried to get you to stop." Pepper said.
Tony says he doesn't want to go home and that they should cancel his birthday party.
"I wish you would have cancelled it." Pepper said. Natasha and Rhodey agreed. Natasha found herself almost regretting telling Tony to do whatever he wanted that night, but even she had to admit there were some enjoyable moments of that night. Namely getting to use the gauntlet, she'd never admit it to him but that was pretty cool to try out, and watching Stark get his ass kicked was a decent highlight.
He says that they're in Europe and that its a great place to be healthy.
"Its a great place to die." Pepper muttered.
Pepper says that she doesn't think that now is the right time because they're in a mess.
Tony says that he thinks that now is the best time.
Pepper says that because she's CEO she needs to be there.
Tony says that she's entitled to a leave.
"I don't think that applies when she hasn't even had the job for a week." Peggy commented. "In fact, it would look very bad on her part to take a leave right now."
Tony says that they should take time to recharge their batteries and figure everything out.
Pepper says that not everyone runs on batteries.
Tony frowned, feeling oddly hurt by that.
Ivan is in his cell, a police officer brings him a tray of food. He gets up to grab it. There's a note on it that says 'enjoy the potatoes' Ivan picks up the potatoes and it is revealed to be a bomb. The police officer opens the cell and someone else walks in. Ivan notices that the numbers on their shirts are the same. '6219.'
"Wait so, is he about to bust out of prison?" Sam asked.
"Looks like it." Bucky replied.
Ivan knocks the guy out. The police officer leaves a key for him.
"Wait so the cop is helping him?" Scott asked.
Ivan sticks the bomb on the wall and unlocks the door. He starts walking down the hallway, the police officer tries to stop him. Ivan punches him and twists his neck. The bomb goes off behind him. Ivan runs down the stairs, he gets surrounded by police officers. One of them puts a sack on his head. They throw him in a van.
"Am I the only one who's like super confused right now?" Peter asked.
