An alarm starts blaring. JARVIS tries to wake Tony.
Tony wakes up and asks JARVIS to kill the alarm.
JARVIS says that that was the emergency that was triggered by the power dropping below 5%.
"Well shit." Clint said.
Tony starts screaming as he falls through the air. He crashes into the street, then into the snow then into some trees before he finally landed. He rolls over onto his back.
People winced each time he hit the ground. "That looked like it hurt." Quill said.
"Where are you?" Bruce asked, taking notice of the fact it was snowing, he definitely wasn't in southern California anymore.
Tony takes the face-plate off he notes the snow and asks if they're upstate.
JARVIS says that they're 5 miles outside Rosehill, Tennessee.
"Why the hell did he bring you there?" Scott asked.
"Tony asked him to make a flight-plan, maybe JARVIS just decided to enact it then." Hope said.
"Well, while you're there you might as well do what you planned to do in the first place." Rhodey suggested.
Tony asks why then says that it isn't his idea and that they're thousands of miles away from where he needs to be. he says that he needs to get Pepper.
"Its sweet that I was your first thought." Pepper said.
JARVIS says that he prepared a flight plan and this was the location.
"Well, that answers that question." Scott said.
"He almost sounds amused." Steve noted.
"I told you, he likes to see me suffer." Tony said.
Pepper rolled her eyes at him.
Tony asks JARVIS who asked him to do that.
"Didn't you?" Shuri asked.
"I asked him to prepare a flight plan, not to enact it." Tony said.
Tony tells him to open the suit.
JARVIS says that he thinks he's malfunctioning.
"That doesn't sound good." Coulson said.
Tony tells JARVIS to open the suit. The suit opens and Tony sits up and says that its brick outside.
"Well, yeah its winter... and snowing." Strange said.
He says that he might cozy back up for a bit. Tony goes to lay back down.
JARVIS says that he thinks he needs to sleep.
Tony asks JARVIS not to leave him.
Everyone was shocked to hear the vulnerability in his voice.
Tony drags JARVIS through the snow. He gets to a gas station and steals a poncho off of a wooden Indian. A voice says that they're on Stark Secure Server and they're transferring to all known receivers.
"Who are you calling?" Rhodey asked.
Tony tells Pepper that its him.
Pepper smiled.
He says that he has a lot of apologizes to make but he doesn't have a lot of time. He apologizes to Pepper for putting her in harms way. He says that it was stupid and selfish and it wont happen again.
"It shouldn't have happened the first time." Pepper muttered.
He apologizes for the rabbit being too big.
"I really do hope you get her something else after all of this, not that the rabbit was bad or anything, just-" Clint said.
He says that he's sorry in advance because he can't come home yet. He says that he needs to find the guy and she needs to stay safe that's all he knows. He tells her that he just stole a poncho from a wooden Indian.
"That has to be a new low, even for you." Pepper said with a laugh.
Tony drags the suit up to a farmhouse. He busts open the door and the suit falls inside. He takes the poncho off and walks inside, he moves the suit to the couch.
"When whoever lives here comes home, they're gonna be in for quite a shock." Bruce said. A random guy and a suit, just sitting in your garage. That's gotta freak some people out.
He says they should get comfly and asks it if he's happy now.
"You know it can't talk back to you right?" Natasha asked.
"Yes I'm aware." Tony said.
"Just making sure."
Tony uses pliers to pick things out of his arm. Harley walks in and says 'freeze.'
"Oh boy." Peter said.
Harley asks Tony not to move.
Tony puts his hands up. He compliments his potato gun before telling him that the barrels a little long and that with the wide gauge it'll diminish his FPS.
"You just met him and you're already insulting his stuff." Rhodey said with a sigh.
Harley shoots at a glass on a shelf. Tony tells him that he's out of ammo.
Harley asks him about the thing in his chest.
Tony tells him that its an electromagnet and he should know because he has a box of them.
Harley asks what it powers. Tony moves the lamp so it shines on the suit.
"It powers more than that." Steve said.
"Well, he's a kid why would I tell him I have metal shards in my chest that could kill me at any second?" Tony asked.
"Good point." Clint said.
Harley drops the potato gun and asks if that's Iron Man.
Tony tells him that he is technically.
Harley tells him that he's technically dead and hands him a newspaper, the headline reads 'Mandarin Attack: Stark presumed dead'.
"Of course they think I'm dead." Tony said.
"Well your house did get blown up and you got taken down with it, I say its pretty reasonable to assume you died." Sam said.
Harley asks what happened to the him, referring to the suit.
Tiny says that life happened.
The teenagers all snorted. Same.
Tony says that he built him, he takes care of him and he'll fix him.
"With some random tools in some random kid's shed?" Quill asked.
Harley compares him to a mechanic.
"Engineer, but mechanic works too." Tony said.
Harley goes to talk about what he'd do if he were building Iron Man and War Machine.
Tiny tells him that its Iron Patriot now.
Harley says that that's way cooler.
See, someone agrees with me." Rhodey said.
"It sucks." Tony said.
Tony tells him that it isn't.
"Way to shoot him down." Steve said.
Harley gets back on track saying that he'd add the retro- he forgets the name.
Tony supplies the name saying that ist retro-reflective panels.
Harley says it'll make him have a stealth mode.
'That's actually not a bad idea.' Tony thought.
Tony asks if he wants a stealth mode.
Harley says its cool.
Tony says that it's a good idea and tells him that he might build one.
"That is a good idea, I think you should do it." Clint said.
Harley accidentally breaks off one of the suit's fingers.
Tony asks him what he's doing and if he was going to break its finger. He says that its in pain and tells Harley to leave it alone.
"How is he in pain if he can't feel anything?" Strange asked.
Harley says that he's sorry.
Tony asks if he really is.
"Go easy on him, he's just a kid." Scott said.
Tony tells him not to worry about it and says that he'll fix it. He asks Harley who's home.
Harley tells him that his mom is at the diner and his dad went to 7-eleven to get scratchers. He says he guesses his dad won because that was 6 years ago.
"Well damn. At least he's honest." Rhodey said.
Tony says that dads leave and there's no need to be a pussy about it.
"Would it kill you to show some sympathy once in a while?" Natasha asked.
Tony tells Harley that he needs a laptop, a digital watch, a cell phone, the pneumatic actuator from his bazooka, a map of the tow, a spring and a tuna fish sandwich.
"Why tuna fish?" Gamora asked.
"Yeah, that's the worst type of sandwich." Ned said.
Harley asks what's in it for him.
Tony tells him he'll get salvation and asks what the kids name is.
"What's who's name?" Bruce asked.
Harley asks who he's talking about.
Tony says he's talking about the kid who bullies him at school and asks for his name again.
"How did you figure that out?" Wanda asked.
Harley asks how he knew that.
Tony says he has something. He takes out a small metal object and says that its a pinata for a cricket the says that he was kidding and its actually a weapon. He tells him to point it away from his face and it discourages bullying.
"You're gonna give a weapon to a kid." Rhodey said slowly.
He says that its non-lethal. He holds it out, Harley tries to take it put Ton pulls it back and asks if they have a deal.
Harley says that they have a deal.
"You bribed him." Natasha said.
"It worked, didn't it?" Tony asked.
Tony asks what Harley's name is.
Harley tells him and asks for Tony's name.
Tony calls himself the mechanic and says his name is Tony. He asks Harley if he knows what's running through his head, then asks where his sandwich is.
A few people laughed. "You are such a dick." Rhodey said, laughing.
There are fire trucks and police cars surrounding Tony's house, as well as some reporters. One of the reporters asks where Tony is.
"Tennessee." Tony answered.
"I mean at least people are looking for you." Steve said.
Pepper has a broken Iron Man helmet in her hands. She puts it to her face, then hears a faint beeping noise. She turns the helmet over and sees a glowing red light.
"That must be the message I left." Tony said.
She puts the helmet on and verifies her retinal scan. Tony's message from before starts playing.
Pepper and Tony hug. "I'm glad you're okay." They said simultaneously.
Pepper and Maya are driving to Maya's house. Pepper asks why she was at their house and what was so important that she needed to talk to Tony. "Are we finally going to find that out?" Thor asked.
Maya says that she thinks her boss is working with the Mandarin.
A few people gasped.
"Okay, so who does she work for?" Natasha asked.
Maya says that if she wants to talk about it they should get to a safe place.
Tony repeats what Maya told her about her boss and says that Tony said she was a botanist.
A few people stared at him. "Yeah I know." He said.
Maya says that she is a biological DNA coder running a team of 40 out of a privately funded think tank. She sarcastically says that they can call her a botanist.
"So far from a botanist." Pepper said.
Pepper asks for her bosses name.
Maya says that its Aldrich Killian.
"Shit." Everyone sighed.
"Wait so could Killian be giving Extremis to people and the people who don't regulate, live we've seen, when they explode, the Mandarin takes credit for those, because now we know he has Extremis because he's working with her." Clint asked.
"That is definitely a possibility now." Tony muttered.
Killian is on the phone with Savin. Savin says that they took the building down but there's no sign of a body.
"Because I'm not dead." Tony said.
Killian says that he has to go he walks into another room. He says that the master is about to record and tells him that he knows how he gets. He tells Savin to keep his appointment and to call him when it's done. The room is filled with a camera crew.
"This just keeps getting more confusing." Scott said.
"Tell me about it." Tony replied.
Killian tells everyone not to talk or make eye contact unless they want to get shot in the face.
"Harsh." Quill said.
Two cars pull up to the house. The mandarin is in one of them. The Mandarin walks by. A security guard says that the master is traveling.
"So Killian is definitely working with him." Rhodey said.
The mandarin takes his seat in front of the camera. Killian asks what they're waiting for.
"Well, you were right about the pageantry." Gamora said.
Tony and Harley are walking through the street of a small town. Tony says that the sandwich was fair and the spring was rusty but he can make do with the rest He talks about Harley's sister watch and pulls up his sleeve, he's wearing a Dora watch. He says that he was hoping for something more adult than that.
Everyone laughed. "I am never gonna let you live that down." Rhodey said. Tony rolled his eyes.
Harley says that his sister is 6 and the watch is a limited edition.
"Of course it is." Tony sighed.
Harley asks when they can talk about New York.
A few people held their breath, having seen what that subject does to Tony.
Tony says that they might never talk about and tells Harley to relax about it.
Harley asks if he can talk about the Avengers.
Tony says he doesn't know and asks Harley to give him some space. They reach the memorial sight. Tony asks for the story of what happened.
"Is this that guy's memorial sight? The one who blew himself up?" Happy asked.
"Seems so." Tony said.
Harley says starts talking about Chad Davis. He says that he used to live in the roundabouts and he won some medals in the army. He says that people said he went crazy and made a bomb then blew himself up.
"JARVIS said he was a veteran, right? So he probably didn't 'go crazy.'" Rhodey said.
Tony says that 6 people including Chad Davis dies.
"There's only five shadows." Natasha noticed.
Tony says that it doesn't make sense because there's only 5 shadows.
Harley says that people says that shadows mark the souls that have gone to Heaven. He says that Chad Davis went to Hell because he didn't get s shadow and that's why there's only 5.
"That doesn't make any sense." Gamora said.
Tony asks if he buys that.
Harley says that that's what everyone says.
"So he doesn't believe that." Sam said.
Harley asks Tony if he knows what the crater reminds him of.
Tony tells him he doesn't and says he doesn't care.
Harley says it reminds him of the wormhole in New York and asks if it reminds Tont of it too.
"Why does he want to talk about it so bad?" Tony asked, feeling uncomfortable.
Tony tells him that that was manipulative and he doesn't want to talk about it.
Harley asks if the aliens are coming back.
Tony says maybe and asks Harley to stop and if remembers what Tony told him about his anxiety issue.
"More than that, what I've seen so far is a prime example of PTSD." Strange said.
Harley asks if the subject is making him edgy.
Tony says it is and asks if he can catch his breath.
Harley asks if he needs a plastic bag to breathe into and if he has medication.
"You probably should." Rhodey said.
Tony says he doesn't.
Harley asks if he should be on it.
Tony says he probably should.
Harley asks if he has PTSD.
Tony says he doesn't think he does.
"What do you mean 'You don't think so', its obvious." Steve said.
Harley asks if he's going mental then asks Tony if he wants him to stop.
"Yeah, that would be a good idea." Sam said.
"Probably should have stopped asking questions after he asked you to stop for the first time." Peggy said.
Tony asks if Harley remembers when he asked him to stop then says that he's going to freak him out. He stands up and says that he did it and asks Harley if he's happy. Tony starts jogging down the street, Harley runs after him.
Tony looked distressed he did not want to continue watching himself have panic attacks thank you very much.
Harley asks what he said and tells Tony to wait. Tony falls to his knees in the snow. Harley asks what happened.
Tony rubs some snow on his face then throws it at Harley and says it was his fault for spazzing him out.
"Well it technically was partially his fault so I won't say anything about you being mean to a kid... again." Rhodey said.
Tony gets them back on topic and asks where Mrs. Davis is.
Harley says that she is where she always is.
"So he can be helpful." Tony said.
Tony tells Harley that he's being helpful now.
"You're repeating yourself." Scott said.
Tony walks up to a bar. He bumps into a lady causing her to drop something. He calls out to her.
Brandt walks up to him and takes the item back and thanks him.
"So you can be polite." Clint commented.
Tony compliments her haircut.
Brandt compliments his watch.
Tony says that its a limited edition.
"I knew it would grow on you." Rhodey laughed.
Brandt tells him to have a nice evening. She walks off.
Tony enters the bar and sees Mrs. Davis drinking alone. Tony sets his drink on her table and asks if he can join her.
Mrs. Davis says that its a free country and asks where he'd like to start.
"She's not going to ask who you are or why you're there?" Gamora asked. "Strange."
"Maybe she thinks he's someone else." Quill said.
Tony says he's sorry for her loss and says he wants to know what she think happened.
Mrs. Davis says that she got the file and tells him to take it and leave. She drops the file on front of him and says that he wanted no part of whatever is inside of it. Tony opens the file.
"Yeah, she was definitely waiting for someone else." Tony said.
Tony asks if she was supposed to meet someone else there. He notices a photo of Taggart next to one of Chad Davis.
"The other military guy." Peter realized.
Tony tells Mrs. Davis that Chad Davis didn't kill himself or anyone but someone used him.
Mrs. Davis asks what they used him for.
Tony says they used him as a weapon.
Mrs. Davis realizes that Tony isn't the one who called her.
"She finally figures it out." Rocket said.
Brandt slams her badge on the table and says that she is. She twists Tony's arm and slams him onto the table. Tony pockets Chad's dog tags.
A sheriff asks what's going on.
Brandt says that its called an arrest. She shoves Tony onto the ground.
"Rude." Tony said.
The sheriff asks who she is.
Brandt says that she's homeland security and asks if they're good here.
The sheriff says that they aren't and he's going to need more information.
"This isn't gonna end well." Clint said.
Brandt says that she thinks this is above the Sheriffs pay grade.
The sheriff tells her to get on the horn to Nashville and upgrade him. Tony nods to Mrs. Davis, she shoves the file under the bar.
"Good move." Natasha said.
Brandt says that she was hoping to do it the smart way but the fun ways okay too. Her hand starts glowing orange around her badge.
"She's got Extremis too!?" Everyone shouted.
The sheriff tells the deputy to get her out. Brandt punches him with her now heated up badge, the grans his gun and shoots him. Tony runs. Brandt follows him.
Tony asks if she wants a party and calls her hot wings.
"Hot wings." Rocket laughed.
Tony starts running down the street. Savin gets out of the car.
"How did he know you were there?" Mantis asked.
"Lucky guess..." Tony suggested.
Savin tries to shoot but a snowball hits him and he misses. Harley ducks behind a post.
"What the hell was the kid doing there?" Tony asked.
Tony sees a guy lying on the ground by a car and says this is crazy.
The man says it is.
Tony tells the man to watch then he jumps through a window.
"Why?" Rhodey asked.
Brandt takes a rifle from a civilian following her. Tony stands up and runs when he sees the gun pointed at him. He jumps behind the counter, she shoots. She walks into the shop. Tony moves further behind the counter, he turns around, she's in front of him.
A few people jump.
"Jesus." Tony gasped.
She shoves him into the wall and punches him, then flips him onto the table. She raises his arms above his head, smiles and tries to burn him. Tony jumps to the other side of the table and puts her in a choke-hold with his handcuffs, she starts glowing and the handcuffs melt off.
"You're doing pretty well without your suit... and your hands." Clint said.
Tony kicks an open jug of gasoline across the floor, then kicks the still burning pieces of the handcuffs into it. Brandt walks into the fire. Tony starts the microwave. He tells her that she walked into this one and says that he's dated hotter girls than her.
"Even in the middle of a fight you still manage to come up with a one- liner." Pepper said.
She bursts through the door, skin charred from the fire. Tony turns on the gas. She asks if all he's got is a cheap trick and a cheesy one-liner.
Tony tells her that that could be the name of his autobiography. Tony leaves the building.
"It kind of works." Happy said.
Brandt notices the dog-tags in the microwave and the gas. The building explodes. Tony stumbles as he walks away. He sees Brandt dead, tangled in the telephone wires.
"That's nice, just a dead person sitting in some wires." Rocket says. "No big deal."
Savin is melting one of the poles holding the water tower up.
"Not that guy." Happy complained.
He brings it down, Tony starts running. The tower falls, water spilling everywhere. Tony is trapped underneath some metal. Savin has Harley. Harley tells Savin to let him go.
"The kid." Tony gasped.
Savin mocks him and he sits Harley on his knee. He asks him what he would like for Christmas.
Harley apologizes to Tony.
Savin says that he thinks Harley is trying to say that he wants the file.
"He better not get that file." Clint said.
Tony tells Harley that it isn't his fault and asks if he remembers what he told him about bullies.
"The weapon you gave him." Gamora realized.
Harley uses the object Tony gave him, it emits a blinding light, causing Savin to let him go. Harley runs away.
Everyone let out sighs of relief, at least the kid got out unscathed.
Tony asks if Savin liked that and calls him Westworld. He says that the thing about smart guys is that they always cover their ass. He holds out his hand, revealing a repulsor. He shoots Savin with it, gets himself out and takes Savin's keys.
"Ha ha, nice." Rhodey says and he and Tony high-five.
He walks up to the car with the file in his hand.
"And you remembered to grab the file." Scott said.
Harley tells Tony 'you're welcome.'
Tony asks if he missed something.
"You could give him some credit." Steve said.
Harley says that he saved Tony's life.
Tony says that he saves Harley first, then he thanks him and says that if he does someone a solid not to be a yutz otherwise he'll come off as grandiose.
"And you don't?" Natasha asked.
Harley tells Tony to admit that they're connected.
"I'm not so sure about that." Tony said.
Tony tells Harley to go home and be with his mom and keep his mouth shit. He tells him to stay connected to the phone and to pick up when he calls. He tells them that they're done and tells him to get out of the way or he'll run him over.
"You wouldn't do that." Pepper said.
"Of course I wouldn't." Tony said.
Tony gets in the car and tells Harley that he did good.
Harley asks if Tony's going to leave him there like his dad did.
"He's guilt-tripping you." Peggy said.
Tony realizes that Harley's guilt tripping him.
Harley says that he's cold.
Tony says that he can tell because they're connected. Tony drives off.
Harley says that it was worth a shot.
A few people laughed.
Savin gasps awake, fully healed.
