'Earth: 1988.' appears on the screen.
"You're from Earth?" Tony asked.
"Yeah." Quill answered.
A young Peter Quill is sitting in a hospital waiting room, listening to the song 'I'm not in Love.'
"Is that you?" Wanda asked Quill, who nodded sadly, remembering this day. His mother was about to die. He was also silently wondering why the film was starting here.
His grandfather enters the room and says that his mom wants to talk to him then he tells Peter to take the headphones off. They walk into a hospital room, people surround a hospital bed, that his mom is lying on.
Quill discretely stopped watching. Rocket, however, noticed. "What is up with you, Quill?" He asked.
"This is when my mother died." Quill said.
Everyone else watched awkwardly. Why were these films showing such personal and heartbreaking moments?
Meredith asks Peter why he's been fighting with the other boys again.
Peter says that they smushed a frog with a stick and killed it.
"I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that type of behavior is concerning, especially in children." Bruce said.
Meredith tells him that he's just like his father. She says that he was an an angel composed of pure light.
Rocket started laughing. "Is she serious, an angel? Is she talking about the same guy we met?" He asked through his laughter.
Peter's grandfather reminds Meredith that she has a present for Peter. Peter's grandfather takes the box and puts in in Peter's backpack. "
Meredith tells Peter to open the present when she's gone.
Off-screen, Quill was in a similar state.
Meredith tells Peter that his grandfather is going to take care of him until his father comes to get him.
"Thank god Yondu never did as promised." Gamora said.
Meredith tells Peter to take her hand. She says and holds out her hand, Peter doesn't and looks away.
His grandfather tells him to take her hand.
Meredith asks him to take her hand.
Everyone wanted to ask him why he didn't do that, but knew better than to voice those thoughts.
She flat lines.
Peter's breath hitches, Gamora rests her hand on his arm to comfort him.
Peter starts yelling in distress. His grandfather takes him out of the room. Peter continues yelling.
"I'm sorry Quill." Rocket said, trying to be sympathetic.
His grandfather tells him to stay there. He leaves, Peter stands still for a second before running out of the building. A large ship appears and Peter is abducted he calls out to his mom.
The teenagers all gasped. "You were on BuzzFeed unsolved!" They yelled.
"Did you just get abducted?" Clint asked.
'26 years later' then 'Morag: Abandoned planet' appeared on the screen.
"Oh, so that's what they're gonna show." Quill said, in reference to the business with the power stone.
A space ship lands on the planet. An adult Peter Quill gets out and starts walking. He holds out a device that shows a hologram of rundown building, as well as some people.
"I want one." Shuri, Peter and Tony all said.
"What's it showing you?" Natasha asked, figuring that it had to be a map of some sort.
"The orb." Peter said, and left it at that.
He starts walking toward the building, once he gets inside, he takes the mask off.
"You look a lot less intimidating than the mask implies." Scott said. Rocket started laughing, Drax joined him and Mantis, wanting to be a part of something, joined Drax.
He takes out his walk-man and 'Come and get your Love' starts playing.
"You know, after 26 years I'm surprised that thing still works." Strange said.
He starts dancing. He jumps in a puddle, and kicks three weird animals away, then picks one up, using it as a microphone. He spins in a circle, arms outstretched.
"You are a literal child." Gamora said.
He comes across a ravine, large snake like things at the bottom of it. He uses jet boots to get over it.
"Those are so cool." Shuri said, already trying to figure out a way to make them.
He unlocks two large, stone doors and steps inside and pulls a glowing orb out of his pocket, while staring at another orb, protected with a barrier.
"That's the power stone." Thor guessed. The guardians all nodded their heads.
Two more ships land on Morag.
"Something tells me whoever's in those ships isn't gonna be too happy with you." Fury said.
Quill puts a gravity mine on the floor, it pulls the orb out of the barrier. Quill picks it up. Korath is at the entrance to the room, he has a gun pointed at Quill.
"Ugh, this asshole." Quill groaned.
Korath tells him to drop it. Quill greets him. Korath tells him to drop it.
"Okay, now who's this guy?" Scott asked.
"His name is Korath, he's a member of the Kree species." Nebula answered.
Carol turned her attention to Nebula at the mention of the Kree.
Two other Kree point guns at Peter, he drops the orb and says that it isn't a problem.
Korath grabs the orb and asks him how he knew about it.
"How did you know about it?" Strange asked, curious.
"I didn't." Quill answered.
Peter says that he doesn't know what it is. He says that he's a junker and was just checking things out.
Korath tells him that he doesn't look like a junker and says that he's wearing Ravager garb.
The humans all looked confused. What on Earth was a ravager?
Peter says that it's just an outfit. He turns to the Kree who's poking him and tells him to stop poking him and calls him a Ninja Turtle.
"Ninja Turtle." Sam laughed.
"10/10." Nickname." Peter giggled.
Korath asks Peter what his name is.
Peter says that his name is Peter Quill and tells Korath to chill out.
Korath tells him to move.
Peter asks why.
Korath says that Ronan might have questions for him. He goes to leave.
"Who's Ronan?" Steve asked.
"The Kree leader." Gamora answered.
Peter says that there's another name Korath might know him by. Korath stops and looks at Peter. Peter gives him the code-name 'Star Lord.'
"What kind of code name is that?" Clint asked.
Korath asks who that is.
Peter says that Star-Lord is a legendary outlaw.
"Ha legendary." Rocket mocked.
He turns to the two behind him and asks if they know.
"I'm gonna go out on a whim here and say you get that a lot." Rhodey said.
"Yeah." Quill said.
"That's because having a code name is for losers." Rocket said.
Korath tells him to move. Peter kicks the white orb behind him, it takes out the two people with guns.
"Space has some pretty cool tech." Tony said.
Then takes out his blasters and shoots Korath and picks up the power stone orb.
"Well, that was easy." Ned said.
"It's not over yet." Peter said.
Korath stands back up and shoots at him, Peter dodges, the blast hits the wall. Peter activates his mask and jet boots and flies through the hole in the wall, and runs to his ship, Korath chases him. Another Kree shoots at him. He throws the gravity mine at the group.
"Hmm. Smart." Gamora said.
"Hey, I can be smart." Quill defended.
"Sure." Rocket said.
"Hey may be stupid, but he's not an idiot." Peter quoted.
He jumps inside of his ship and deactivates the mask. The Kree break free from the gravity mine as Korath joins them, they assemble a gun. Peter's ship starts flying. The Kree shoot at him. Peter flies away laughing.
"Don't get smug yet." Natasha said.
A geyser hits the ship. The ship starts falling, Peter is being tossed around.
"I am groot."
"Hey, you don't get to scold me." Quill responded.
He fumbles for the controls, stabilizing the ship before it crashes. He leans back against a wall. A pink woman sticks her head up and asks what happened.
"Is she pink?" Everyone asked.
"It's best you get used to it and don't ask questions." Nebula said.
Peter jumps and struggles to place her name.
"Really? you can't remember her name?" Gamora asked.
Bereet gives him her name.
Peter says that he forgot she was there.
A few people laughed.
"Reminds me of pre-Afghanistan you." Rhodey said to Tony.
They start to leave the Morag. Bereet and Peter are watching the news. The reporter says that riots protesting the peace treaty signed bu the Kree Emperor and Xandar's Nova Prime broke out across the Kree Empire.
"What's Xandar?" Bruce asked.
"A planet." Drax answered.
Others were mildly confused as to why people would protest a peace treaty, but of what they've seen of the Kree so far is anything to go by, then they understood it.
Peter gets a call. Bereet tells him that he has a call and goes to answer it.
Peter tries to stop her. Yondu appears on the screen.
"Who's calling?" Sam asked.
"Wow you people have a lot of questions. That is- was *He corrected, Yondu was dead* my... father, Yondu." Quill answered.
"That doesn't seem right." Carol said.
"What do you mean, Quill looks exactly like Yondu." Drax said.
"Yondu's blue!" The Guardians yelled.
They greet each other. Yondu says that he's on Morag and Peter and the orb aren't there.
"So you were supposed to give it to this guy." Strange gathered.
Peter says that he was in the neighborhood and he thought he'd save Yondu the hassle.
Yondu asks him where he is.
Peter says that he isn't going to tell Yondu where he is.
"Why can't you tell him that?" Steve asked.
"I almost got killed retriveing the orb for him." Quill answered.
Yondu says that he slaved putting the deal.
Peter asks if 'slaved' was making a few calls.
Yondu says that Peter is trying to rip him off he says that they don't do that to each other because Ravagers have a code.
Peter says that the code is 'steal from everybody.'
"What a nice code." Fury said, sarcastically.
"Who exactly are ravagers?" Howard asked.
"I guess the simplest way to put it would be mercenaries, bounty hunters, thieves and pirates." Quill listed.
Yondu says that when he picked Quill up on terra the other Ravagers wanted to eat him he says that they never tasted Terran before. He tells Peter that he's alive because of him. Quill hangs up.
"Something tells me you're gonna regret that." Peggy said.
"Did I mishear or did he say that they threatened to eat you?" Clint asked.
"No, you heard right. He said eat." Quill answered.
"That's messed up." Sam said.
Yondu swipes the hologram away, angry and says to put a 40k bounty on Peter and says that he wants him back alike.
Horuz questions the 'alive' part.
Yondu says that that's what he said.
Horuz says he told Yondu that they should have delivered Peter like they were hired to do.
"Thank god he didn't." Rocket said.
Horuz says that Peter was cargo and tells Yondu that he's always been soft on him.
Yondu says that Horuz is the only one he's being soft on and tells him not to worry about Peter because he'll kill him himself when he gets his hands on him.
"He won't do that." Maria denied.
Yondu says that they need to worry about who else wants the orb.
"A lot of dangerous people." Drax said.
'The Dark Aster: Kree Warship.' appears on the screen. Ronan is being dressed by servants.
Ronan says that people call him terrorist, radical and zealot.
"I am Groot." Groot said. (You are all of those things.)
"That's Ronan?" Hope asked. The guardians nodded.
He says that he obeys the ancient laws of his people and punishes the people who don't.
"Sounds like a tyrant to me." Natasha said.
He says that he doesn't forgive the Xandarians for taking his father's, his grandfather's life and his great grandfather's life. He says that 1,000 years of war between them won't be forgotten.
The prisoner says that he can't do this because their government signed a peace treaty.
"To people like him, peace treaties mean absolutely nothing." Steve said.
Ronan says that his government knows no shame. He says that the Xandarians and their culture are a disease. He picks up a war-hammer.
"He reminds me of Hitler." Peter said quietly.
The prisoner tells him that he will never rule Xandar.
Ronan says that he'll cure it. He cuts the prisoner's head off.
Everyone flinched back.
Gamora and Nebula looked at each other nervously.
Nebula walks up to him and tells him that Korath has returned.
"You were working for him?" Loki asked, not accusingly.
"I was." She said, regret clear in her voice.
Ronan is meeting with Korath. Korath says that Peter is a thief who calls himself Star Lord.
"He got my name right." Quill cheered.
Korath says that they've discovered that Peter has an agreement to retrieve the orb for and intermediary called the Broker.
Ronan says that he promised Thanos that he would retrieve the orb for him.
"And he's working for Thanos." Steve said, tense.
Ronan says that Thanos would destroy Xandar for him in return.
"So he makes all of his allies by promising things." Loki observed, remembering his... deal... with the mad titan.
Ronan tells Nebula to go to Xandar and get the orb.
Both Nebula and Gamora looked around awkwardly, remembering what came next.
Nebula says that it would be her honor.
Gamora says that it would be her doom. She tells Nebula that if this happens again she'd be facing Thanos without his prize.
"I am sorry that I was so... patronizing to you, for all those years." Gamora apologized.
"I... forgive you." Nebula said.
Nebula says that she is a daughter of Thanos just like Gamora is.
Gamora says that she knows Xandar.
Nebula says that Ronan has already decreed that she should go.
Ronan tells Nebula not to speak for him and tells Gamora that she won't fail.
Gamora asks if she ever has.
"And now you're after the stone. I hope you didn't plan on giving it to Thanos." Strange said.
"I wasn't, that was the final straw for me, I made an agreement to sell it to someone else." Gamora said.
'Xandar: Capital of the Nova Empire' Appears on the screen. Rocket and Groot are spying on people. Rocket calls the Xandarians losers, He says that all of them are in a hurry to get from something stupid to nothing at all. He calls them pathetic.
"You are a very condescending rodent." Loki said.
Rocket asks if Groot can believe that the Xandarians call them criminals when he is assaulting everyone with is haircut, referring to a man on the sidewalk.
"He do be looking like a Karen, though." Peter said.
Rocket starts making fun of a child and says that it isn't cool to get help, He tells it to learn to walk by itself and calls it a gargoyle.
"It's a child, Rocket." Quill informed.
"I don't care." Rocket said.
He looks at an old man (Stan Lee) and asks him where his wife is before calling him a class-A prevert.
"Can you not be a dick to people for five minutes?" Gamora asked. "That's all I ask."
"There's that guy again. When did he get into space?" Steve asked.
Groot is drinking from a fountain.
"Groot looks... different." Mantis said, looking at the smaller Groot 2 seats away from her.
"Yeah, Groot sort of died, then started his life process over again." Rocket answered.
Rocket tells him not to drink fountain water and says that it's disgusting.
"I am Groot."
"Yes it is! You don't know where it's been." Rocket exclaimed.
Groot shakes his head. Rocket says he was and he saw him. He asks why he's lying. Rocket's device starts beeping he zooms in on Peter and asks how bad someone wants to find him and calls him a humie.
"Humie?" Quill asked.
Rocket rolled his eyes. "Human."
He sees that its 40 thousand units and tells Groot that they're going to be rich. Groot continues drinking fountain water.
"Gross." Rocket sighed.
Peter walks into the Broker's shop. The Broker greets him. Peter takes out the orb. The Broker asks where Yondu is.
Peter says that Yondu wanted to be there. He tells the Broker that Yondu told him to tell him that he has the best eyebrows in the business.
"Quite the kiss- up." Gamora said. "Ah ah ah, not a kiss-up, a flatterer." Quill corrected.
"He does have some pretty... interesting eyebrows." Peter said.
Peter asks what the orb is.
The Broker says that its a policy not to discuss his clients or their needs.
Peter says that he almost died getting it.
The Broker says that it was an occupational hazard that is common in his line of work.
"True, but this was way more than that." Quill sighed.
Peter says that it was some machine headed freak who was working for Ronan.
The Broker apologizes and says that he no longer wants a part in this transaction if Ronan is involved.
"Smart, man." Steve said.
He starts pushing Peter out of the shop. Peter asks who Ronan is.
The Broker says that Ronan is a Kree fanatic who is outraged by the peace treaty and says that he wont rest until Xandarian culture is wiped from existence.
"So he's a genocidal maniac." Sam said.
He starts pushing Peter again and says that Ronan is someone whose bad side he'd rather not be on.
Peter asks if he wants to be on his bad side.
"What bad side?" Rocket asked.
"I have a bad side!" Quill protested.
"You do not." Drax insisted.
"He's actually right, you really don't." Gamora agreed.
"Groot?" Quill asked, wanting him to be on his side.
"I am groot."
"Asshole." Quill muttered.
The broker pushes him out of the shop and bids him farewell. The door closes. Peter tells him that they had a deal.
"I think a genocidal tyrant is more important than a deal." Fury said.
He looks over and sees Gamora eating something. She asks what happened.
Peter says that the Broker backed out of a deal and says that he hates a man without integrity.
Almost everyone found that they agreed with the sentiment.
He introduces himself as Peter Quill and says that people call him Star Lord.
"Nobody calls you that." The guardians said in unison.
Gamor tells him that he has the bearing of a man of honor.
Peter says that he wouldn't say that but people say it about him all of the time. He says that it isn't something he'd say about himself.
"You really don't have any humility, do you?" Natasha asked.
Gamora takes the orb, kicks Peter in the stomach and runs.
Everyone laughed.
"That's what happens when you get cocky." Gamora said.
Peter throws something at her that binds her legs, she falls and drops the orb, she sits up and takes it off, kicking Peter in the chest, she punches him a few times, then kicks him. He grabs his blaster, she steps on his hand and says that that wasn't the plan. Rocket tackles her.
"My hero." Peter said, sarcastically.
Rocket tells Groot to put Peter in the bag.
Groot grabs Gamora. Groot tells him to learn genders.
Everyone laughed.
Gamora bites him. Rocket says that that isn't fair. Peter picks up the orb and runs.
Groot squeezes Gamora harder. Rocket tells him to take it easy. The branches break, she throws Rocket off of her and throws a knife at Peter, causing him to drop the orb.
"Is it just me or is everyone else really confused?" Ned whispered, the group of people on-screen now were nothing like the people currently in the room with them.
She runs away from Groot and jumps down to where the orb is and picks it up. Peter jumps down on top of her, she flips them over so she's on top. She calls him a fool and tells him that he should've learned.
Peter says that he doesn't lear and it one of his issues.
"Maybe you should work on that." Nebula said.
He snatches the orb, and attaches a rocket thing to her hip, sending her into the water. Groot traps him in a bag and picks him up. Rocket tells him to stop smiling because he's supposed to be professional.
"I am Groot." (I can be professional)
Gamora comes back and pushes him aside. She fights Groot, cutting off both of his arms. She goes to open the sack, Peter electrocutes her, then starts running. Rocket pulls out a gun and says he lives for the little things like how much that will hurt.
"You are a very cruel rabbit." Thor said.
"Thank you... wait rabbit?" Rocket asked.
Rocket shoots peter, the blast electrocutes him. He tells him to writhe and calls him a little man.
Groot's whining about his lost arms. Rocket tells him that they'll grow back.
They are taken into custody someone tells Rocket to drop his weapon and calls him subject 89P13. He drops the gun.
"This is why you don't do illegal activities in public." Scott said. Hope and Hank gave him a look. "At all." He corrected.
The Nova Corps places them under arrest for the endangerment of life and destruction of property.
Two officers lift Peter up. Dey recognizes him and calls him Star Prince.
Everyone laughed.
"Yeah, yeah laugh it up." Peter grumbled.
Peter corrects him. Dey says that he picked him up a while for petty theft and says that he has a code name.
Peter says that an outlaw name.
Dey tells him to relax and says that it's cool to have a code name not weird.
Rocket calls the Nova Corps fascists.
"Civil servants." Everyone corrected.
"And I thought we all hated each other when we first met." Tony said after a moment, in reference to the avengers.
Nova Prime is on a call with the Kree Prime says that Ronan is destroying Xandarian outposts throughout the galaxy. She says that that should call for some response on the Kree's part
The Kree ambassador says that they signed the peace treaty and asks what more she could want.
"Maybe for you to stop Ronan from trying to wipe Xandarian people from existence." Rocket said.
"That would be a good place to start." Gamora agreed.
Nova Prime says that she wants a statement from the Kree Empire saying that they condemn Ronan's actions. She says that he is slaughtering children and families.
"He's a monster." Mantis said, softly.
The Kree ambassador says that that is her business.
"How is that their business? He's your leader. At least show a shred of sympathy." Clint yelled.
The Kree ambassador says that he has other matters to attend to and he ends the call.
Nova Prime calls him a prick.
"Indeed." Nebula agreed.
