Rocket and Yondu get thrown into a cell. Taserface says Yondu will be delivered to the Kree in the morning and neither of them will last longer than that.
"Wanna make a bet?" Rocket asked.
Rocket says okay and asks Taserface to tell the others that they said hi.
"Still mocking, even when you're locked in a cell." Carol said.
"What else is there to do? Might as well have some fun." Rocket said.
Gef has Groot's age. He asks about him and calls him a little planet then asks if he can smash him with a rock.
"No!" Everyone yelled.
"Don't hurt Groot." Rocket practically growled.
Taserface tells him no and says he's too adorable to kill. He tells Gef to take him to the tailor.
"What for?" Steve asked.
In their cell, Rocket tells Yondu that his employees are a bunch of jerks.
Yondu says he was a Kree battle slave for 20 years when Stakar freed him.
"Reminds me of the gladiators on Sakaar." Valkyrie said.
Yondu says Stakar offered him a place with the Ravagers and all he needed to do was adhere to the code.
"And he didn't." Quill sighed.
Yondu says he was young, greedy and stupid like Rocket was when he stole the batteries.
Rocket says that was mostly Drax.
"Liar." Drax said.
Yondu says he, Staker and the other captains weren't so different from Rocket and his friends. He says they were the only family he ever had.
"He had me too." Quill whispered.
Yondu says they exiled him when he broke the code and he deserved it.
Rocket tells him to slow down and calls him a drama queen. He says Yondu may deserve this but he doesn't and they had to find a way out of there.
"How do you plan on doing that?" Maria asked.
Yondu asks where Quill is.
Rocket says he went off with his dad.
Yondu asks if he means Ego.
Rocket confirms and says it's a day for dumbass names.
"You can say that again. First Ego and then Taserface? Can it get any worse?" Clint asked.
Yondu smiles. Rocket says Yondu smiled and for a second he got a warm feeling but then it was ruined by Yondu's disgusting ass teeth.
"Are you incapable of not insulting someone?" Gamora asked.
Yondu asks if Rocket is a professional asshole.
Rocket says he's pretty much a pro.
"Yeah, I can see it. Certification and everything." Rhodey said.
Rocket asks why Yondu didn't deliver Quill to Ego like he promised.
Yondu says Quill was skinny and could fit into places they couldn't and it was easier for thieving.
"Oh give it up, everyone knows you kept him because you cared about him." Natasha said.
Yondu says he has an idea on how to get out of there but they'll need Groot to do it.
"Oh, this'll be hilarious." Quill said, knowing that baby Groot was pretty much anything but helpful.
Groot is in Ravager clothes, and the Ravagers around him are cheering for their 'mascot'. Groot tries to take the clothes off but falls and a Ravager pours his alcohol on him.
Everyone glared at the Ravagers. Rocket was practically growling at them.
A Ravager says Groot is cute when he's riled up.
Another Ravager calls him precious.
"Assholes." Gamora muttered.
Groot goes to attack them, a ravager kicks him away.
"Dick!" Everyone yelled.
"Don't hurt Groot." Rocket snapped.
Later, Groot walks down the hallway alone. Yondu tells him to come over to him and calls him 'twig.'
Groot comes closer. Rocket asks what they did to him.
"Bad things, very bad things." Mantis said.
Yondu asks Groot of he wants to help them get out. Groot nods. Yondu says there's something he needs Groot to bring him. He says there's a prototype fin, the thing he wore on his head, in the captain's quarters. He says it's in a drawer next to the bunk.
"He's gonna use his sweet ass arrow." Clint realized.
Groot runs off. Rocket and Yondu share a look.
"Why am I getting the feeling Groot didn't understand a single thing Yondu just told him?" Strange asked.
"Because he didn't understand a single thing Yondu just told him." Rocket answered.
Groot arrives to where the Ravagers are sleeping, the one next to him is sucking his thumb.
"Is he... sucking his thumb?" Sam asked.
Groot sees an open drawer.
Groot brings Yondu back some underwear.
"How is that anything close to a prototype fin?" Ned asked.
"He's a child." Quill said. "He doesn't know."
Yondu says that's his underwear.
Rocket says he was pretty sure Groot didn't know what he was talking about.
Everyone laughed. "No shit." Scott said.
Rocket says Yondu needs to explain it more carefully.
Yondu says it's a prototype fin.
"What is repeating what you've already told him but slower gonna do?" Quill asked.
Groot brings back an Orloni. Rocket says that's an Orloni and Yondu is looking for a fin.
"This is hilarious." Shuri said.
Yondu tells Rocket to explain it this time.
Groot brings back an eye. Yondu says that's Vorker's eye and he takes it out when he sleeps. He tells Groot to look again.
Rocket tells Groot to leave the eye.
"Why..." Hope asked, slowly.
"No reason." Rocket snickered.
Yondu asks him why.
Rocket says Vorker will wake up tomorrow and he's not going to know where his eye is and starts laughing.
"Your love for prosthetics is... disturbing." Bucky said.
Groot brings back a table. Rocket says that's a desk and they told him it was this big. He holds up his arms for measure.
"Honestly, it just seems like Groot's messing with you now." Tony said.
Groot brings back a severed toe.
Everyone was too shocked to speak.
Rocket tells Yondu to tell him that they have a refrigerator with a bunch of severed human toes. Yondu shakes his head. Rocket says to agree to never speak of this again.
"Agreed." Everyone in the room said.
Yondu takes his flame patch off and says that the drawer Groot is looking for has that symbol on it.
"Wish you would have told him that earlier, it would've save us a lot of trouble." Rocket said.
Groot puts the patch on his head.
"He thinks it's a hat?" Sam asked.
Rocket says Groot thinks Yondu wants him to wear it as a hat.
"Why would he think that?" Pepper asked.
Yondu says that isn't what he said.
"I am Groot." Rocket says Groot is relieved he doesn't want him to.
"I am Groot." Rocket says Groot hates hats.
"He hates hats, why?" Rhode asked.
"I am Groot." Rocket says he hates them on anyone not only himself.
"I am Groot." Rocket says one minute you think someone has a weird shaped head and the next minute you realize part of that head is a hat.
"A weird reason not to like hats." Howard said.
Rocket, incredulously, says that's why Groot doesn't like hats. Groot nods.
Yondu asks if this is an important conversation.
"It isn't." Hope said.
Groot crawls onto Taserface's bed and finds the drawer. He extends his limbs to open the drawer and the fin is inside.
"Finally." Hank said.
Groot pulls out a circular item.
"Oh, come on!" Scott said.
Kraglin says that isn't it.
"Oh no."
Groot is in Kraglin's pocket. Kraglin drops the fin on the floor in front on Yondu's cell.
Everyone smiled.
"He put Groot in his pocket? That's adorable." May said.
Kraglin says he didn't mean to do a mutiny and says that they killed all his friends.
"Assholes." Gamora said, referring to the ravagers that killed Kraglin's friends.
Yondu tells him to get the third quadrant ready for release. Kraglin hits his chest twice and gives Groot to them.
Rocket asks Kraglin if he has any of Quill's old music on the ship.
"I knew you liked it." Quill said.
'Come a Little bit Closer' by Jay & The Americans starts playing. Rocket attaches Yondu's fin. Yondu uses his arrow to kill the two ravagers that find them.
"Those Ravagers are so screwed now." Rhodey said.
Rocket takes the dead Ravagers' guns.
Taserface wakes up and sees the fin missing and tells the other's that Yondu has the fin.
A group of Ravagers find Yondu, Yondu uses his arrow to kill all of them.
"I want one so bad." Clint said.
Yondu catches his arrow and they walk into another room. Yondu uses his arrow to kill them all. Many Ravagers fall off the platforms they were standing on.
"Badass."
A Ravager runs away, Groot chases him. He extends his limbs to catch the Ravager's feet and throws him off the ledge, then jumps onto Rocket's shoulder.
"Small Groot has some fight in him." Natasha said.
Yondu walks into a security room. He uses his arrow to kill everyone he sees in the cameras. He shoots out the light of one of the rooms and cuts down a ship that falls on some Ravagers. He breaks Gef's beer glass, then kills him.
Everyone giggled at that.
Rocket sees a Ravager coming toward them in the camera, he shoots him through the door.
"Nice." Bucky said.
Rocket starts shooting, he and Yondu laugh.
"You're having way to much fun with this." Quill said.
Yondu continues using his arrow to kill Ravagers. Yondu sees Taserface in the camera.
"Oh, now it's on." Sam said.
Yondu whistles and sends his arrow toward taserface, then whistles again to light it on fire.
"It can do that?" Clint asked.
Taserface dodges and the arrow hits something else and explodes.
"On no."
Rocket calls Yondu a maniac and says the whole ship's going to blow.
"That's not good." Thor said.
Yondu says not the whole ship.
"What does that mean?" Wanda asked.
Yondu calls his arrow back.
Kraglin readies Yondu's ship.
Taserface calls one of the Sovereign. She asks who he is.
He says he's sending her coordinates to Yondu's ship.
Everyone glared at him.
Yondu, Rocket and Groot arrive on Yondu's ship.
Yondu tells Kraglin to release the quadrant.
Taserface says he only asks the Sovereign one thing and it's that Ayesha tells Yondu the name of the man that sealed his face- Taserface. The woman laughs.
"Even she thinks it's hilarious." Tony laughed.
The part of the ship Taserface is in explodes and he dies.
"Well... no more Taserface." Rocket said, being sure to say 'Taserface' in the voice he used to mock him.
Yondu's ship is released and the Ravager ship explodes.
"Just in time." Steve said.
Kraglin asks Yondi where to go.
Rocket tells him to go to Ego.
"Good."
Yondu tells him no. The ship goes through multiple jump points. Yondu says it isn't healthy for a mammalian body to hop more than 50 jumps at a time.
Rocket says he knows.
Yondu says they're about to do 700.
"What!?"
"This isn't gonna be good." Quill muttered.
They continue going through jump points and their faces start stretching.
"I know this is probably bad, but I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous they look." Tony said, barely stifling his giggles.
On Ego, 'Bring it on Home to Me' by Sam Cooke is playing. Quill says he guesses the planet could be his some day.
Gamora, over a communication device, asks Rocket of he's there.
"Probably can't answer when his face is being stretched in ways it shouldn't." Carol said.
Quill wraps his arms around her. Gamora asks him what he's doing.
Quill tells her to dance with him.
Gamora says she isn't going to dance with him.
Quill says a Sam Cooke song is playing and he's one of the greatest Earth singers of all time.
"Damn right." Sam said.
"Yeah, Spaceman has great taste in music." Clint said.
He and Gamora start slow dancing. Quill extends his arm and Gamora spins, then spins back into his arms.
Everyone smiled at the cute moment between them, each of them resisting the urge to say something for fear of ruining the moment.
Quill says Drax thinks Gamora isn't a dancer.
Gamora says she'll kill him if he tells anyone about it.
"I don't doubt that." Quill said. "Except now, everyone knows."
Quill asks when they're going to do something about the unspoken thing between them. Gamora asks what unspoken thing.
"The fact that you two have been dancing around each other practically since you first met." Shuri whispered.
Quill compares them to Sam and Diane from 'Cheers' and says that they're a guy and a girl on TV who dig each other but don't say anything because if they did then the rating would go down.
"That's the only reason I sat through half of the TV shows that I've ever watched. Just to see of the two characters that were the shows main ship would end up together." Peter said.
Gamora says there's no unspoken thing.
"Well..." Peggy said. "There kind of is."
Quill says it's a catch-22 because if she said it then it would be spoken and she'd by a liar so by not saying it she's telling the truth and admitting that there is.
"That made no sense." Scott said.
Gamora says that isn't what she meant and breaks away from him. She says that they should be discussing is something about the planet doesn't feel right.
Quill asks what she's talking about and reminds her that she's the one who told him to come there.
"True, but I really don't think pointing fingers is what you should be doing right now." Coulson said.
Gamora says Mantis is afraid of something.
Quill asks her why she's trying to take this away from him.
Gamora says she isn't.
Quill says Ego is his father and he's blood.
"Yeah, but maybe he isn't one to form a fatherly bond with." Tony said.
Gamora says Quill has blood on Earth and he never wanted to return there.
Quill says she wanted him to come here and Earth is the place where his mother died in front of him.
"Which was your father's fault." Gamora said.
Gamora says it's because Earth is real and this is a fantasy.
Quill says this is real and says he's only half human.
Gamora says that's the half she's worried about.
Quill says he gets it and says she's jealous.
"I really wasn't." Gamora said.
Quill says it's because he's part god and she likes when he's the weak one.
Gamora says he was insufferable to begin with and says she hasn't been able to reach Rocket and says she's gonna go outside to get a signal.
"Good luck." Rocket muttered.
Quill says this isn't like 'Cheers' after all and it's whatever the show is where one person is willing to open themselves up to new possibility and the other person is a jerk who doesn't trust anyone. Quill says it's a show that doesn't exist and that's why it would get 0 ratings.
"You gotta stop comparing your life to TV shows and movies, dude." Sam said.
Gamora says she doesn't know what 'Cheers' is.
A few people snorted at that.
Quill says he finally found his family and asks if she understands that.
Gamora says she thought he already had and walks away.
"Hey." Quill said to Gamora. "I'm really sorry about that fight."
"It's... okay." Gamora said.
Gamora is sitting on the ground in a field. A plant next to her makes noise in the sind so she cuts it with her sword.
Everyone giggled. "I'd do the same thing." Loki said.
She hears something and turns to see what it is, a ship flies toward her, she runs. Nebula is the one piloting it and she's screaming, she starts shooting at Gamora.
"Oh my god."
Gamora dives over a cliff and calls Nebula a psychopath.
"Yeah." Natasha said.
Nebula flies back toward her and starts shooting again. Gamora runs into a cave. Nebula flies toward the cave and starts firing again, then flies into the cave. Gamora jumps down to a lower level. Nebula crashes the ship.
"Oh dear." Peter said.
Gamora notices a gun next to her, she picks it up. Nebula panics and tries to get out of the ship. Gamora starts firing. The ship falls to a lower level of the cave and explodes. Nebula tries to get out but her foot is caught. Gamora helps her out.
"At least they're both alive." Thor said.
The ship blows and they're sent flying back. Nebula pops her joints into place. She jumps onto Gamora and chokes her.
"And they're trying to kill each other again." Valkyrie said, not at all surprised.
Gamora flips them over, Nebula throws her off. Gamora kicks her and Nebula grabs a knife.
"A knife!" Shuri yelled.
"No!" Peter yelled back.
Nebula grabs Gamora's throat again. Eventually, Gamora loses breath. Nebula drops the knife and lets her go. Nebula says she wins and she bested Gamora in combat.
"That's what this was about? I actually thought you were going to kill her." Wanda said.
Gamora says she saved Nebula's life.
Nebula says Gamora was stupid to let her live.
Gamora says Nebula let her live.
"We can argue about who saved who and who let who live later." Natasha said.
Nebula says she doesn't need Gamora always trying to beat her.
Gamora says she isn't the one who flew halfway across the universe because she wanted to win.
Nebula says not to tell her what she wants.
"I didn't want to win, I needed to, at least once." Nebula said. "There is a difference."
Gamora says she doesn't need to because it's obvious.
Nebula says Gamora was the one who wanted to win and she just wanted a sister.
"I'm sorry." Gamora whispered, tears in her eyes.
Nebula says Gamora was all she had but she was the one who needed to win. She says Thanos pulled her eye from her head, her brain from her skull and her arm from her body because of Gamora.
"He... he took your brain?" Loki asked.
"That's just... there aren't enough words to describe how messed up that is." Bucky said.
Peter is on the couch listening to 'Brandy(You're a Fine girl) by Looking Glass. Ego walks in and asks Quill if he's alright.
Quill glared at Ego.
Ego says he saw Gamora stomp off in quite a huff then says that it's fortuitous that he's listening to that song.
Quill asks if he knows 'Brady.'
Ego says it's by 'Looking Glass' and says it was one of Meredith's favorites. Quill agrees.
"I'm surprised he can remember little things like that after all that time." Maria said.
Ego says it was one of Earth's greatest musical compositions and it might be it's very greatest. Quill agrees.
"I wouldn't go that far, but it is a good song." Strange said.
Ego says that he and Quill are the sailor in that song, then starts quoting lyrics. 'He came on a summer's day, bringing gifts from far away.' He says it was like the child he put in Meredith.
"You could have said it in a different way, the way you said it just sounds a little crude." Happy said.
He says it's also like the freedom he brought Gamora. He quotes lyrics again. 'Brandy, you're a fine girl. What a good wife you would be. My life, my love, my lady is the sea.' Ego says the sea calls the sailor back, and he loves the girl but that's not his place.
"I don't think I'm liking where this is headed." Rhodey said.
Ego says the sea calls him as history calls upon great men and sometimes they're deprives the pleasures of mortals.
Quill says Ego may not be mortal but he is.
Ego says death will remain a stranger to both of them as long as the light burns within the planet.
"Ego's immortal?" Scott asked.
"Not for long." Rocket said.
Quill asks if he's immortal. Ego says he is as long as the light exists.
"So if the light ceases to exist, then they're back to being mere mortals like the rest of us." Hank said.
Quill asks if he can use the light to build cool things like how Ego made a whole planet.
Ego says it might take a few million years of practice before he gets really good at it but he can.
Quill tells him to get ready for an 800ft statue of Pac-Man with skeletor and Heather locklear.
"Nice." Tony said.
Ego says he can do anything he wants.
Quill says he's going to make some weird shit.
"I wouldn't expect anything less from you, honestly." Fury said.
Ego says it is a tremendous responsibility and only they can remake the universe and take the bridle of the cosmos and lead it to where it needs to go.
"Remake the universe? I don't like the sound of that." Coulson said.
Quill asks how. Ego's fingertips spark with energy, Quill's do too.
Ego tells Quill to come with him. Mantis watches them.
"Suspicious."
Mantis wakes Drax up and says they need to talk.
Drax says he likes a woman with meat on her bones.
"Of course that was where your mind went." Rocket said.
Drax says he tried to let her down easily by telling her he found her disgusting.
"How is that letting her down easy?" Quill asked.
Mantis says that isn't what she meant. Drax pretends to be sick. Mantis asks what he's doing.
Drax says he's imagining being with her physically.
"You are such an asshole." Gamora said.
Mantis says she doesn't like him like that and she doesn't even like the type of thing he is.
Drax says there's no need to get personal.
"You deserved it." Everyone said.
Mantis says Ego has gotten what he wanted.
"Me on his side." Quill muttered.
Mantis says she should have told him earlier. She calls herself stupid and says he's in danger.
"No shit."
Nebula and Gamora find a glowing light in the cave. Gamora asks what it was.
Gamora and Nebula grimaced, remembering what they found in the cave.
Ego and Quill walk into a room. Ego tells Quill that he needs to readjust the way he processes life. He says everything around them including gamora is temporary but they are forever.
"And somehow he thinks that makes him better." Gamora said.
Quill asks if eternity gets boring.
"Sounds like it would." Pepper said.
Ego says it doesn't of he has purpose and that's why he's there. Ego reminds him of how he told them he had an unceasing impulse to find life but he never told them that it was disappointing when he did find it.
"Disappointing?"
Ego says that was when he came to a profound realization. He says his desire to seek out other life wasn't so he could live among them. He says he's found meaning. He touches Quill's head and Quill's eyes go black.
"What did he just do?" Clint asked.
Quill says he sees eternity.
Everyone tensed.
Nebula and Gamora find thousands of skeletons in the cave.
"Are those-" Wanda went to ask.
"Dead bodies." Steve said.
"That's horrifying." Carol said.
Nebula says they need to get off the planet.
