Toomes follows the jet as it leaves Avengers tower, Peter webs him Toomes' foot. The planes pilot engages retro-reflective panels, and the plane becomes invisible.
Toomes says he has visual on the jet but he's feeling resistance.
Mason suggests that it's the new turbines.
"No, it isn't." Peter said.
Toomes lands on the underside of the jet and deploys the vacuum seal, saying that it better work. Peter's web breaks and he shoots another to keep from falling.
Toomes gets to the cockpit and overrides the security. Mason launches a decoy drone and Toomes changes the jet's course.
"Shit."
Happy watches the jets flight course and says that it's on time and on its way.
"No, it isn't." Ned said.
Toomes finds the crates on the jet. He opens some crates, revealing guns and arc reactors.
"That's a lot of arc reactors." Rhodey commented.
An alarm sounds and Toomes sees security footage of Peter on the outside of the plane. Toomes puts his wingsuit on and flies off. Peter climbs up the side and makes a comment about this being a typical homecoming on the outside of a jet fighting his girlfriends dad.
"So typical." Ned agreed.
"You really have the worst luck in the world, don't you?" MJ asked.
Toomes' wingsuit scratches the plane, Peter webs himself to the plane and shoots a web at Toomes. The web breaks, Peter goes flying toward a turbine, which he webs up so it stops.
"That was close." May said, worried. "A little too close for my liking. Not that anything here is to my liking but you know what I mean."
The turbine breaks off from the plane, Peter kicks it away. Toomes lands on the plane and tries to slices Peter's web, knocking him away, Peter shoots another web at the plane.
Mason tells Toomes that he's losing altitude and needs to go.
Toomes says he isn't leaving empty handed.
"Your life is on the line and all you care about is what you came to steal?" Steve asked.
The plane starts going down.
"Oh no." Ned whispered.
May, once again, wrapped her arms around Peter.
Peter uses his webs to steer the plane away from the city. Mason tells Toomes to get out.
From the tower, Happy watches as the jet starts crashing.
"Now you see it." Peter said.
The jet crashes onto the beach, leaving trails of burning debris behind.
"Holy shit." Everyone said.
"At least it didn't crash in the city." Tony said.
"Yeah, that would've been so much worse." Pepper agreed.
Peter takes his mask off and stands up. Toomes flies toward him and tackles him, his wingsuit is sparking.
"His suit's malfunctioning." Coulson realized.
Peter stands up, Toomes flies toward him again, Peter dodges. Toomes holds Peter to the ground and starts punching him. Toomes flies up and tries to kick Peter off of him. Peter pushes away and shoots a web, which breaks and he falls to the ground. Toomes jumps on his back and slams Peter into the ground.
Everyone winced.
Toomes uses a wing to lift Peter, before seeing the crate of arc reactors and drops him. He flies over to the arc reactors and lifts the crate.
Peter warns him that his wingsuit is going to explode then shoots a web at the crate.
"Listen to the kid." Clint said.
Toomes tells Peter to go home.
Peter tells Toomes that he's trying to save him.
"No matter what he's done, he didn't deserve to die for it." Peter said.
Toomes cuts the web, Peter tries to shoot another, Toomes falls and his wingsuit explodes.
Peter rushes into the flames, lifts the wings and pulls Toomes out then lays Toomes on the ground.
"You saved his life." Steve said.
"And he better not forget it." Fury added.
Later, Happy arrives with a team of people. They look through the wreckage. Happy finds Toomes webbed to a crate with a note that says 'Found flying vulture guy- Spiderman P.S. sorry about your plane.' Peter is sitting atop the cyclone ride, watching.
"Nice note." Happy said.
The next day, Ned and Peter walk through the hallway, Ned raves about the fight. Peter says Ned saved him.
"Thank you for that, Ned." Peter said, sincerely.
Peter spots Liz with her mother, Betty comes up to hug her. Peter walks up to Liz and apologizes.
Liz says he says that a lot and asks what he's sorry for this time before asking if it was the dance and says it was a crappy thing to do.
"Yeah, it wasn't really fair to her." Peter said.
Peter says he can't imagine what she's going through because of Toomes.
"Must be rough." Quill said.
Liz says they're moving to Oregon and her mom says it's nice there. She says Toomes doesn't want them there during the trial and says she hopes Peter figures out whatever he's going through then walks away.
"Yeah."
The decathlon team and Mr. Harrington are in the library. Mr. Harrington sets their trophy down and congratulates them and says that he'll have to put it in the trophy case soon but it's just motivation now.
"Good motivation." Hope said.
Mr. Harrington says they'll need a new team captain next year and he's appointing Michelle. The team claps.
"Hey, congratulations." Everyone said.
Michelle says her friends call her MJ. Ned says he thought she didn't have friends. MJ says she didn't.
"But you do now." Ned said.
"I do." MJ said, a slight smile on her face.
Peter's phone buzzes with a text from an unknown number telling him to go to the bathroom.
"That's not creepy at all." Ned said.
"It's okay, I didn't get kidnapped... well not exactly." Peter said.
Peter says he has to go.
MJ asks where he's going and what he's hiding before telling him that she's kidding and doesn't care.
"She's onto you." Ned stage whispered.
Peter walks into the bathroom and sees Happy standing there. Peter greets him and asks what he's doing there.
Happy tells Peter that he owes him one.
"You got that right." May said.
Happy says he doesn't know what he'd do without his job. A toilet flushes and a kid steps out of the stall, washes his hands and leaves.
"Awkward."
Peter asks Happy how long he's been in there.
Happy says it's been long enough to be awkward and says Tony wants to see Peter.
Peter asks if Tony's there too.
Happy says Tony isn't in the toilet but he's upstate.
Peter asks if he means upstate upstate.
"What other upstate is there?" Ned asked.
Happy drives them to the compound and tells Peter that it was just remodeled.
"It looks nice." Sam said.
They walk inside as the jet takes off. Tony walks over to them. Tony asks Happy to give him a minute with Peter.
Happy says he'll be close behind.
Tony suggests a loose follow and says boundaries are good.
Happy rolled his eyes, exasperated.
Tony walks with Peter and apologizes for taking the suit, he says Peter had it coming and it turned out to be the perfect tough-love moment that he needed to urge him on.
"It was, actually." Peter agreed.
Tony says Peter screwed the pooch big time but he did the right thing in the end. He says Peter took the dog to the free clinic and raised hybrid puppies.
"What does that even mean?" Rhodey asked.
Tony says that wasn't his best analogy.
"No, it really wasn't." Pepper agreed.
Tony says he was wrong about Peter and he thinks with a little more mentoring Peter could be an asset to the team. They stop at a door and Tony says there's 50 reporters behind the door.
"Is he testing you, I can't tell if he's testing you or not." Ned asked.
Tony shows Peter the 'Iron Spider' suit and says he can try it on when he's ready and they can introduce the world to the newest member of the avengers-Spider-Man. He says Happy can show Peter to his quarters after the press conference.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, he hasn't given an answer yet." Rhodey said.
Tony says Peter would be next to Vision.
Happy says Vision isn't big on doors or walls.
"Haven't broken that habit, I see." Vision said. "I'll work on that."
Peter thanks Tony but says he's good.
Tony asks how he's good.
Peter says he'd rather stay on the ground for a little while and be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
"Do what's best for you." May said.
Peter says someone has to look out for the little guy.
Tony asks if Peter is turning him down and tells him to think about it and answer 'yes or no.'
Peter says no.
Tony says that it's kind of a Springsteen-y working class hero vibe that he digs.
"What?"
Tony says Happy can take Peter home.
Happy asks id Peter minds waiting in the car because he needs a minute with Tony.
Peter walks away before turning around and asking if that was a test and says nobody's behind the doors.
"You thought the same thing?" Ned asked.
Tony says it was a test and Peter passed. Peter leaves.
Happy says he told Tony Peter was a good kid.
Pepper walks out of the room and asks where Peter is.
"It wasn't a test." Peter said.
Happy says Peter left.
Pepper says everyone's waiting.
Tony says Peter made a very mature choice that surprised both of them.
Pepper asks if they screwed it up.
Tony says Happy told Peter to wait in the car.
"Thank you for throwing me under the bus." Happy said.
Pepper says there's a room full of people waiting for a big announcement and asks what she's supposed to tell them.
Tony tells her to think of something and asks Happy if he still has the ring.
"What ring?" Pepper asked.
Happy takes an engagement ring out of his pocket and says he's been carrying it since 2008. Pepper gives him a look.
"Seriously?" Pepper asked.
Pepper says she can think of something better than that.
Tony says it would buy them some time. Pepper kisses him.
"Aww."
"You're back together, yay." Shuri said.
Pepper walks to the door. Tony tells Happy that he can't believe he had the ring in his pocket the tells Pepper to let him get the door, Pepper walks into the room, Tony walks in after her and Happy tosses him the ring.
"I can't believe you're proposing." Pepper said, smiling.
"I can't either." Tony said, also smiling.
Peter walks into his bedroom and asks May is she made dinner. He sees a paper bag on his bed with the words 'this belongs to you' written on it.
"I wonder what that could be." Natasha said, already knowing what it was.
Peter puts the suit on and takes the mask off. May is standing in the doorway. "What the fu-" She says.
"That's how you found out?" Steve asked.
"What happened after that?" Hope asked.
"I freaked out, then he started freaking out then we had a long overdue conversation about him keeping secrets, and I support his Spider-Manning but with a few ground rules, specifically with how late he stays out." May said.
Toomes is walking through a prison. Mac finds him and asks what the odds are that they end up in the same summer camp. He says his scar not on toomes but it's on their Spider-Friend and says he has boys on the outside who'd love to meet him, take a picture, slice his throat or put his head in a dryer.
"Oh no." Peter paled.
Mac says he heard a rumor that Toomes knows who he is.
"Shit." Ned said.
Toomes says if he knew who Peter was, Peter would be dead.
"I wonder why he didn't say anything. I really thought he would have." Peter said.
"Well, you saved his life, I think he respects that." Fury said.
Steve walks into frame and says he's there to talk about one of the most valuable traits any soldier or student can have which is patience.
"Not again." Steve sighed.
Steve says sometimes patience is they key to victory and sometimes it leads to very little and seems like it's not worth it and you wonder why you waited so long for something so disappointing. Steve asks how many more of these he has.
Everyone started laughing. "Oh, I hope there's dozens more of these." Tony said, giggling.
"I need to see all of them." Natasha said.
