Izuku strolled down the main street of the I-Island expo with wonder in his eyes. From left to right, booths and machines as far as the eye could see. Inventers were bantering, gentle clanks and loud whirring could be heard all over.
It was just him.
Mom and Dad wanted to spent time with Eri. Give her some bonding time with dad, let her get to know him. Inko stuck with them of course, she wouldn't let her daughter out of her sight while they were here. Last he heard they were heading to a presentation on a new toy being released in america.
So here he was, free to check out everything I-Island had to offer. The invitation Nedzu had sent him detailed a meeting with David Shield, but that was still two days away.
He turned on his heels as he saw a booth with jetpacks. He always wanted a jetpack, just never had the opportunity to build one.
"Ma'am, what shall we do about the missing infiltration team?" A suited man asked his phone. "Oh, don't worry. We can hire another team, they were cheap bodies anyway." A femine voice replied. "Still, the fact that all that's left of them was dried blood on the ground is rather unsettling." The man said.
"Arch, we have plans in place. A group of foreign muscle going missing is of low concern to our opperations." She answered him. "I Understand, still, what if we don't just lose our muscle and some random crooks the next time the Mole strikes." The man voiced his concern. He heard a deep sigh from his phone amd several footsteps.
"The only thing they failed at was obtaining our asset. If you are that concerned, sent out a job offer and use higher standards with our hiring process." She said with a stern voice. "Yes Ma'am." the man said. "Good, anything else to report Arch?" the woman asked. "One of the heroes managed to take an arm off of one of the Mole's machines. The thing escaped with most of it, but we still have part of the weapon being analyzed as we speak." Arch said. "Understood, dismissed Arch." The woman said before hanging up.
Arch sighed, pocketing his phone into his suit. He looked to his left, taking in the rows of sunken storage units. Almost the entire place had been swallowed by the earth. The only way they could tell that they were storage units was the roofs sticking out if the ground.
Not far was a group of scientists in protective gear handling the broken remains of a robotic arm.
He had more work ahead of him.
All For One huffed as he felt the doctor remove the exosuit and reconnect him to his life support. It's been a month of usage and the exosuit was showing signs of build up. He knew this feeling, he'd lived through it. Against his greater wishes he had the doctor removed the exosuit so that it could be cleaned.
Body Rust was the term used for this situation. Prolonged use of Exosuits combined with daily living leaves the body weak and dirty. His old training had drilled the need to be without an exosuit unless necessary into his head.
Yet that suit was now necessary.
To compensate he donned Garaki's old method for his health. Laying down on a nearby couch with a complex mask on his head. He just rested, anxious to be back in the suit.
He made sure Garaki understood the necessity of cleaning the suit quickly. The longer he had to be without it, the less time he'd have to be plugged back into life support. Though he'd rather die than continue rotting in that chair.
Laying back further Afo felt something. For breif moments he could feel it all again. He watched fire spread across the sky, the weight of his rifle in hand, the rush that came from combat while suited up. He could see the faces of his squad mates, men he had trusted with full honest faith. Men that are dead now, dead and buried in places that no one would ever remember.
His world shook as bombs were dropped all around him. Building and vehicles cracked with hellfire and noxious fumes. Everything burned, every collapsed. He felt rounds ricochet off his suit, felt his stance rock as explosions continues.
Then he cringed, his body buried under the collapsed husk of a store. Rebar through his gut as his comrades laid dead around him. Indistinct chatter assaulting his ears as mixed messages played in his communications. No one could organize it, all that was left was the dying breath of the country's leadership.
He was dying, he was only sixteen.
Afo shook himself awake. A hand instinctively reaching for his gut. "Just a dream, a horrid dream." He muttered as he checked the time. It had been half an hour and Garaki had yet to return. "I need that suit Garaki, soon." he said to no one before he leaned back again.

Being Found.
Subsector Two on floor four of the Sapia Laboratory.
A small bot hummed as it followed the signal sent by its master computer. Its robotic legs scuttling through the wreckage of the Laboratory. Its other selves had been hard at work repairing the wreck, making it comfortable for the Master to explore the place with his own two legs.
The Computer had found something strange. It couldn't identify what it had found, yet it was immobile. Locked within part of the lab that had yet to he repaired. Many of its other selves scuttled alongside it, carrying materials and equipment to their destination.
Debris was cleared with ruthless efficiency as they continued forward. The Droids only slowing down to remove the skeletal remains of the old staff. Their master was clear that such things would be removed with care. Key cards and crew I.D.s were taken while all else was left with each person.
Then they found it, Subsector two.
In front of the door was a collapsed ceiling that they were quick to begin repairing. A pillar of steel was erected to keep the ceiling stable as their devices and materials repaired it. It took less than five minutes for the area to be repaired and the door unobscured.
A Card reader sat unharmed next to the door, his other selves already rifling through the collection of Key Cards to see which would work. Finally one succeeds and the door slides open with a rusted creak.
Machines shuffle in, analyzing their surroundings and sending the feedback to the computer. Data was exchanged between them and it, and they were given the ok to continue. Old computers were activated and connected to the network, decrepit machinery was either repaired or taken apart.
One lone machine analyzed another part of the room. Closed off from the rest was a standard reinforced door, no power or high tech lock, and a pan of double sided glass next to it. Between the bits of dust they could see metal bars that acted to reinforce the glass.
The Droid approached, letting its arms feel along the door.
Then it stopped.
An intense feedback of information from the Main computer halted it in its tracks. Footage of scientists and engineers studying a bizarre core with extreme caution flickered in its vision. The core itself shifted, strange tendrils extending from its exterior shell as technology was presented to it.
It had to wait for authorization.
Izuku shifted awake before leaned upwards. He could see his phone going off so he reached forward. He had to be careful not to wake anyone else in the hotel room. Eri was sharing the bed with him while his parent shared a bed for the first time in years.
He retrieved his phone, making sure the brightness wasn't too high. It was a notification from his villain lab, they had found something interesting while repairing the Sapia Laboratory. He could see small footage of some strange core, larger than a watermelon in size with a single red orb in the front.
He quickly sent a command. He wanted to study it with his own hands, but he didn't want to take any risks. He would have the Core remain in it's old space, untouched by any of his machines.
"Izu?" he heard Eri asked from his side. "Sorry, had a message about work. Go back to sleep Eri." Izuku apologized as he put his phone down. Eri just groaned before gripping her stuffed bunny tightly and shuffling closer to him. Izuku just let out a breath as he let her cuddle up to him. Shutting his eyes so that he could fall back asleep faster.
