Izuku looked down at the metal box on the table. Sealed inside was the head of Chisaki Kai, the man who tortured Eri for his own sick goals. Not far from him Cell stood with a seeming look of pride on his face. "I did good master?" he asked. Izuku nodded; "Yes, you did good. She'll sleep a bit better at night without that man around." he whispered the last part but Cell still picked it up.
"And, about the data?" Cell asked. "Shockwave and Soundwave spent the entire time from the compound's discovery to your hunt downloading everything they had." Izuku answered. "Ah, well, I'll be resting if you need me." Cell said before walking away. "While you were gone I had some R and Bs make you a proper resting area, it's where your tube used to sit." Izuku said as Cell paused. "Thank you Master." Cell said as he approached his new resting area.
"So, Waves what do we have?" he asked his A.I.s. "An illogical conclusion. Kai theorized that he could use his creation to wipe Quirks from the human genome. He failed to consider latent genes that would reappear in later generations. His attempts would result in nothing but a repeating cycle of stagnant evolution." Shockwave surmised. "Add in the delayed method and slow process of creation. His plan would have failed from the start." Shockwave added in. "Well, good that we took them out with no witnesses." Izuku said.
"There was a group of witnesses." Shockwave said. "What?!" Izuku asked in a panic. "The Issue Units assigned to monitor Cell caught a group of other criminals would had stumbled upon the sight." Shockwave answered. Izuku groaned, running his hands over his face."Who were they?" Izuku asked. "The Hero Killer Stain and a group of followers known as the Disciples." Soundwave answered. "So they can't report it, not directly at atleast. *sigh* I was hoping to keep Cell hidden for a while longer." Izuku lamented.
"He will still be hidden. The list of enemies Kai had is far too long for you to be a suspect. Too them Cell is but a newly arrived hitman with a pension for complete annihilation." Shockwave said. "That will work. how goes progress on Project Shaker?" Izuku asked. "Ninety Eight percent of Units are in place. Excavation and separation of the Lab from the main tunnels has been finished. All entrances have currently been sealed and structual integrity will be heavily monitored once the move starts." Soundwave surmised. "Good, soon this place will be a whole lot bigger." Izuku said as he stood up and grabbed the box.
"What will you do with it?" Shockwave asked. Izuku turned back, seemingly thibming for a second. "I'm going to lock it in a cabinet, no fanfare, no big speech, just his head locked away in a box to be forgotten about." Izuku answered as he began walking to one if the storage cabinets.
He wouldn't say that he felt good about this, but he knew it would bring Eri one step closer too actually smiling.
Nighteye huffed as he read over the report. His sources in the underworld had all reported the same thing. Something had wiped out the entire Shie Hisaki in one night. No one saw the one who did it, no one knows how they did it.
All they found was discarded clothing and the mangled body of their leader.
It didn't make sense.
It doesn't make sense.
Nighteye huffed again, running a hand through his hair. He had spent close to two years working on a case against them, now its all moot. They couldn't even find the Kai's files, they were just gone.
Everything was just gone.
"Two years wasted." Nighteye muttered while leaning back. He had every file on the Shie Hisaki spread across his desk, all about to be stored away and never touched again. He should be happy, they were taken down and will never rise again. Yet he worries about what this could mean.
His musings were interrupted by a taping at the window. Nighteye raised a brow and turned to face it.
Coming face to face with Stain.
Nighteye almost panicked, almost. He was about to press the alarm when Stain held up a harddrive. Against his better judgement Nighteye stepped forward and opened the window. "What do you want?" he asked with irritation. "You were the one looking into the recently killed off Yakuza. I have information on them." Stain said. "Why should I believe you?" Nighteye asked.
"Because I saw what killed them, even saw how it did it." Stain said with seriousness in his voice. "It?" Nighteye asked. Stain gestured to the harddrive in his hand and held it out to Nighteye. "I'll use it as evidence against you, you know this right." Nighteye said. "It only has our walk through the Yakuza base. Nothing else." Stain replied.
Nighteye considered using his Quirk on him, get a feeling of what was in Stain's future, but he decided against it. Taking the hardrive he cautiously connected it to his computer and selected the file.
The footage started out with Stain and several others walking down the tunnels with a lone man as their prisoner. They passed the same warped door that he saw in the reports. The clothing was all in the same place that law enforcement found them. Then they entered Kai's command area, and found his body.
He noticed a slight shimmer in the feed as Stain's back was turned. Then the thing stood tal and menacing. He listened to what it said, watched with a grimace as it ate the last man. Then he pulled out another file.
"What are you doing?" Stain asked as he watched. "Nedzu passed video evidence of the U.S.J event to me, I'm comparing them." Nighteye replied. The video of All Might's battle with the Noumu played alongside the claim of the creature's origin. Stain remained quiet as he watched All Might's battle. Nighteye pulled out a third file, one on the attack on the Noumu's police escort.
"They found the thing bloodied but seemingly unharmed." Nighteye said. "Someone took part of it." Stain surmised. Nighteye nodded as he gathered more files. "There were five Noumus at Hosu, they all went missing during the cleanup process." Nighteye said. "Six there was another that was following me." Stain said. "You were being stalked while stalking someone else." Nighteye said.
Stain just huffed as Nighteye turned to him. "Did you see what took it?" Nighteye asked. "Those armored thieves, the same ones who struck several support companies and evaded All Might." Stain said. Nighteye looked at him, almost glaring at him.
"I'll ignore your crimes for now, you just aided in opening a case." Nighteye said. "I'll take it, you are one of the few good heroes." Stain said as he walked around the office. "Anythig else before I kick you out?" Nighteye asked. "This one of the limited edition ones?" Stain asked as he pointed to the All might poster hung up. "Yes, don't touch it." Nighteye said. Stain didn't respond, just staring deeply at the poster before rushing out the window.
Nighteye didn't here anything fall, so he knew he was already gone.
Nedzu hummed joyously as he wrapped up the last of the practicals for the year. He watched his students battle against both his old and new staff, watched how they worked together to win.
Many of their test marks were less than desired but that was ok.
Then he got a message from Nighteye.
He raised a brow and began looking through the shared footage. His joy quickly vanishing as he watched the... Thing devour the man. His Quirk allowed him to quickly skim through the rest of the information Nighteye provided.
The idea that the Mole would go this far, make something like this, made him pause.
Sure, the Mole was already dangerous, but he never reportedly killed someone before. He had threatened, injured, shocked, and stunned, but never killed. Now he has a monster of his own creation, built from the parts of an unknown amount of Noumus, that he can just send to kill whoever he desires.
Yet another thing stood out.
Cell had said that Kai had hurt someone close to his Master, ei the Mole. Kai hurt someone close too the Mole. Kai hurt someone that the Mole cared about, he hurt someone that a tech genius would go to such lengths to avenge.
It suddenly clicked.
Nedzu doesn't want it to click.
Hesitantly Nedzu moved Midoriya under the list of suspects. For everything he had done, he doesn't want to do this. Yet it makes to much sense.
Kai hurt Eri, tortured her. Midoriya became her older brother the moment he laid eyes on her. He found Kai's base, made something unsettling to destroy it. Only someone with such a vendetta would go so far.
Yet it doesn't all make sense.
Midoriya was away at I-Island yet the Mole kept striking. Cell is clearly biological yet the Mole specializes in purely Mechanical works. Noumu are mindless, this thing is highly intelligent.
Unless there was more than one villain.
Nedzu dismissed the thought, knowing that he didn't have time to theorize on it.
Izuku walked away after wrapping up his latest reveal. This one was a two parter, one part being an upgrade frame for the Azures that would turn them into full fledged construction equipment. The other a form of rescue drone capable of functioning at both ground and air level.
He was successful of course and he knew orders would begin rushing in rather quickly.
Then his watch beeped.
He pulled it forward, opening up the inner section to reveal a small touch screen. 'Delta has sent in a message through the back door. Nedzu has received word from Nighteye and begins to suspect us.' was sent by Shockwave. Izuku frowned, before sighing deeply. He knew this day would come. 'Do not rush. We are too invested to quit now. Start preparing emergency contingencies for the worst case scenarios.' he quickly typed up.
He huffed before closing the watch. Cell was successful in his mission, but now he was at risk. But he couldn't just eliminate everyone who suspected him, that just make him even more suspicious.
Considering all he knew. It was likely Stain somehow had footage, probably from one of his Disciples. He gave that footage to Nighteye due to his connections with investigating the Shie Hisaki. Nighteye connected Cell with his other heists and footage from other villain groups, possibly due to Cell's loose none existent lips. Nighteye sends this to Nedzu, now Nedzu and Nighteye suspect him.
He just had fo play it cool, make himself nothing more than another civilian.
Considering the fact that ninety five percent of his criminal assets were currently busy moving a ginormous underground lab from it's original place to his lair, he had a chance. He couldn't strike with the same force as usual, or could he?
Izuku paused, remembering just how fast Cell moved. 'Check Cell Stability.' he sent with his phone. 'Cell is at 62% completion.' Shockwave responded. He could work with that. 'Organize all remaining Units and Cell to strike any available target, own civilian cover included. Do not harm any civilians, property damage and heroes are open to the situation.' he sent the command.
He had to throw them off somehow. Being robbed in the midst of a week long mass robbery was the perfect way.
