Author's Note:
Hey guys I am back. Oh boy that took longer than I thought it would. So a few things before we get into the chapter: one, I do not know how often I will be able to update this story. I don't want to say when I'm going to and then not fulfill my promise. I will be making the chapters longer though so that you all will have more to read. I actually wanted to make this one longer, but with how long its been since I posted, I decided on this length. I hope it is enough.
Two, to LinkZelda4eva, I will admit that I misspelled Sheikah. However, I used chamber for the Shrine of Resurrection because to me it was more a chamber than a shrine. Also, I recommend you don't end your reviews with something like 'fool.' If you are trying to give constructive criticism, adding words like that will make it sound like an insult and the ones who are doing the work won't take you seriously.
Three, I have finished the final draft of my book. AND I AM SO EXCITED! ...and scared...and nervous. I am doing final checks on it. I have already begun researching into publishing it, but that is another beast of a task so it will take some time. At the moment, I am thinking of electronic publishing but not set in stone yet. I am going to post a small part of my book on my main fanfiction profile page so show a bit of what I have worked on. That should be up in a week or two.
Four, I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding when it came to the delays of this story. I will finish this story for I am excited to show you where this story goes and what happens. Now that has all been said and done, on to the chapter!
Link cleared the shrine near town, and the group began to climb up toward the monster camp. Teba soared to the skies to scout. The group waited back a ways as they watched Teba circle the area.
"So what is the plan 'oh fearless leader?'" Bargoh asked.
Mipha looked ahead. The top of the plateau sloped upward and out toward the ocean. No cover between them and the monster encampment.
"I'm afraid this does limit our choices," Mipha replied. "A straight shot is really our only choice."
Pyle rolled his eyes. "Oh why didn't we think of that?"
Rivan walked up toward Pyle. "No need for the attitude."
Pyle stood tall. "What ever do you mean?"
"If you don't like it then you think of the strategy."
Link was gazing toward the monster encampment.
Gaddison joined Rivan. "Plus we are up against Goblins and Moblins. We don't need a complicated strategy for this."
Bargoh joined Pyle. "Oh so we should just go in recklessly?"
Off to the side, Rhomson and Hudson listened to the argument.
Rhomson bit her lip. "Dammit...they are using my words against the party."
"Very clever," Hudson said.
Rhomson rubbed her brow. "This is all my fault."
"You couldn't have known."
Link looked up at Teba who began gliding back. He landed next to Mipha.
"How does it look?" asked Mipha.
"Ten small ones and three large ones," Teba replied. "It normally wouldn't be a problem for us...but they have the high ground and explosive barrels they could roll at us. I'm sure that at the end there they did see me."
Bargoh scowled. "Some scout you are."
Rivan gave an intense glare at the Goron. "Oh and you think you could have done better?"
"Like you are in any position to talk," Pyle replied.
Rivan clenched his fist. "Oh hey there pot, there's kettle."
Gaddison nodded.
Mipha rubbed the sides of her head. They are getting worse. What am I going to do?
The arguing continued to intensify.
Link turned to the group. "I have an idea."
The arguing seized immediately.
Pyle stepped forward. "You do?"
Link nodded and turned to Teba. "Do you have any bomb arrows?"
Teba checked his quiver and brought out one arrow. "Just one."
"What is your plan?" asked Mipha.
"I can rush them," said Link. "While I have them distracted, Teba can shoot their explosive barrels."
Bargoh smiled. "Not a bad idea."
Hudson stepped forward. "Hold on. You rush up there and they will start throwing the barrels at you."
Rhomson nodded. "He has a point. That would weaken the blast radius."
Link looked downward. "It was the best I could come up with."
Pyle held up his hand. "Hold on...we may be able to use that."
Rivan scowled. "You can't be serious."
"I am."
"Rhomson's point is valid though," Rivan argued. "If we are going to cause as much damage as possible, we need the barrels to stay in a pile."
Mipha gazed around.
Pyle sighed. "So we lose a few barrels in the explosion, but it is still a good idea. Plus, Link gets some practice in dodging attacks."
Gaddison scowled. "They most likely have flame arrows to cause the barrels to explode."
Bargoh laughed. "Goblins don't have that good of aim."
"I beg to differ," Rhomson said. "They can have good aim and I have seen it myself."
"...everyone," Mipha's voice rose through the arguing.
All attention turned toward her.
Link blinked. "Mipha?"
Mipha turned to the group. "There is a way to use Link's idea and cause as much damage as possible. Link, do you still have the fire arrows that Teba gave you?"
Link nodded. "About five of them. Why?"
Mipha shared her plan with the group.
"Are you crazy?" Rivan asked.
Pyle smiled. "I think this can work."
Link shifted his weight. "Um...Mipha...that seems unnecessarily risky."
Mipha turned to Link. "It may seem that way, but I want you to trust me on this. Your original idea is good, but this will help you later down the line to have some experience in this. Teba, can Link use your bow?"
Teba hesitated but nodded.
"Thank you," Mipha said. "Link get a feel for it and please give Rhomson your bow along with a fire arrow."
Link does what he was asked and climbed up onto a near by rock. Teba jumped off the side of the cliff and soared into the air. Link took a few practice shots with regular arrows. Rhomson held Link's bow with a fire arrow in hand. The others stood back and watched.
Mipha looked around. "Ready?"
Link shakily gave a thumbs up while Rhomson nodded.
"Begin."
Rhomson shot a fire arrow toward a patch of grass. It quickly caught fire and burned a large portion of grass. Link jumped over the patch and took out his paraglider. The hot air rose up, catching his sails carrying him into the air at which point Teba glided downward until Link was above him. Link put his paraglider away as he softly landed on Teba's back.
"Ready?" asked Teba.
"Not completely but too late for that now," Link replied.
Teba nodded.
Soon the two airborne heroes were above the monster fort. Link fell backwards and plummeted toward the fort. He gazed down and saw the barrels, but the monsters saw him too. He fought against the wind rushing past him to get into a firing position. He readied his bow and pulled back a fire arrow, aimed carefully and finally fired. It flew toward its mark but missed. Link panicked and quickly fired another arrow missing worse than before.
"What is he doing?" Pyle asked.
Mipha shifted her weight as her eyes darted back and for between Link and the ground.
Link took out his third arrow. Dammit dammit dammit!
He looked up and time froze as his eyes locked with Mipha. Her eyes were dimmed with worry and yet shined with belief: belief in Link.
Time resumed as he took aim with his third fire arrow and fired. Link took out his paraglider and began to gently glide down. This one found its mark in one of the explosive barrels and detonated. The explosion rang throughout the area and its echo stretched for a mile. The blast sent out a shock wave that pushed Teba further into the air and Link further toward a cliff.
Despite being a fair distance away, Mipha, Midna, Gaddison, Rivan, Pyle, Bargoh, Hudson, and Rhomson all ducked behind rocks to shield themselves from the wave. A Moblin body landed next to them and disappeared in a puff of purple smoke.
Smoke filled the area of the fort. The wind pushed Link further away toward a cliff. Link tried to steer back as he slowly descended yet couldn't fight against the strong wind. Teba corrected his position and flattened out in the air. Link grunted and tightened his grip as his direction shifted away from the cliff. He touched down and stored his glider. Teba landed next to him.
"Thanks Teba," Link said.
Teba nodded. "You are welcome."
The others joined them.
Mipha walked up to Link. "Good job."
Link looked down. "I missed twice."
Mipha wrapped her arms around his head. "True but you didn't missed the third time. You didn't fail."
Link flinched. He then wrapped his arms around Mipha's waist. "R-Right."
Rhomson smiled. "Aw...you two are so adorable."
Hudson laughed. "I agree. Perhaps we should hold a certain ceremony for you two now."
Midna snickered.
Mipha blushed brightly. "Quiet Midna."
Link looked up at Mipha. "What certain ceremony?"
"Now isn't the time for that," Pyle stated. "You have a shrine to complete."
Rivan rolled his eyes. Ruining the mood again.
"Surprisingly," Gaddison spoke, "I agree with them. I would want their ceremony to be some where with less explosions."
Rivan looked over at Gaddison. "Plus I'm sure his majesty would prefer it to be in Zora's Domain."
"I know the chief would want to be there," Rhomson with a smile.
"Oh and you know my boss and the others would want to come as well," Hudson added.
Teba nodded. "My family and friends too."
Midna barked and wagged her tail.
Mipha's blush spread across her entire face. "T-That is something we can attend to later."
The group minus the two Gorons and Link gave her a smirk.
Mipha cleared her throat. "And by 'we' I mean Link and I."
"Mipha are you running a fever?" Link asked. "Your face is red."
Rhomson giggled. "Oh she has a fever alright."
Pyle rubbed his brow. "Can we please move on?"
Mipha took a slow, deep breath. The color of her face returned to normal. "Yes. Link, we will wait outside while you complete the shrine."
Link nodded.
The group approached the shrine. Link placed the Slate upon the pedestal and the door opened. Link stepped on the platform and disappeared into the shrine.
"Where are we going from here?" asked Bargoh.
"The Gerudo Desert," Rhomson replied. "I still need to talk to Chief Riju."
"As do I," Mipha said. "We will be able to teleport to the shrine near the Highland Stable."
Teba nodded. "That will save us on some travel time."
"Plus there is a memory in the desert," Mipha continued. "And two map towers that are...difficult to reach."
Rhomson nodded. "One comes out of a pit that seems to have no bottom. Another that rose out of a pit of tar."
Hudson rubbed his chin. "Is there a chance to encounter a gold Lynel in those areas?"
"Gold Lynel?" asked Rivan.
"I thought there were only three types of Lynels," Gaddison added. "Red, blue, and white."
"Yes but there is a rare kind of Lynel that has a golden mane and powerful weapons with equal skill to wield them," Mipha replied.
An image flashed before her eyes, a gold lynel on top of desert mountain. Bazz and herself with blood pouring down her arm fighting it while carrying an injured Gerudo warrior away leaving bodies that fell.
Mipha rubbed her arm over a jagged, nasty scar. "It...wasn't the best of days."
Rhomson nodded. "I...know of that incident. My people lost many that day."
Teba looked skyward. "The Calamity has brought nothing but suffering to everyone and everything in Hyrule."
"Which is why we should really pick up the pace," Pyle argued. "This is taking too long."
"We heard you the first hundred times," Rivan replied. "It's getting old."
"We are just trying to stop the suffering of our people," Bargoh said.
Rivan rolled his eyes. "Oh...I'm so sorry. I forgot that you Gorons are self-centered."
Pyle stomped his foot. "Don't you dare! You have no idea how much we have suffered because of this Calamity. Easily more than any of your people!"
Rivan gripped his spear. "Oh? You think your people have suffered more than the Zoras?"
"Yes we have," Bargoh replied. "We have suffered the most."
Rhomson gritted her teeth. "That is a mighty bold claim."
"I agree," Teba stated.
Pyle stared down at Rivan. "Every day...eruptions from the volcano causes lava to rain down upon our village and the surrounding area of Death Mountain. Every day, Gorons are hurt or killed from the blasts and the only way to calm the cause of those eruptions is to launch one of our own into the Divine Beast. Despite Yunobo doing this day in and day out, he still has a smile on his face wanting to help our people."
The air thickened with tension. Mipha did not reply while Midna growled.
Teba clenched his fist. "So you think the rest of us have it easy?"
Pyle turned toward Teba. "I didn't say that."
"By extension," Teba said, "thinking that you have it worst means you don't believe we have it rough? Every day...that Divine Beast floats in the skies above our village...waiting to shoot us out of the sky. We can't take off from the village normally. We have to be careful every time we take flight which is part of our culture. Even then, it fires down when anyone gets too close. We too have lost lives so don't you dare think your clan has it worse."
"Yeah!" shouted Rivan.
The air stilled around them.
"Oh so the kid wants to chime in on suffering?" Bargoh asked.
Rivan pointed a shaking finger at Bargoh. "Our people are divided, and we can't swim the waters safely and our Divine Beast is trying to flood the plains! We have to constantly remove water from the basin or else the dam will burst! Monsters patrol the waters and on top of that, the Divine Beast throws ice chunks at us to crush us! We run interference when we have the Rito aid us so they don't have to worry and yet the ice just rushes towards them!"
"We sometimes have to take block the ice with our shields," Gaddison added. "And when those shields can't take the hit, we have to take on any left over damage. We too have lost lives."
"We all have," Rhomson stated. "Our Divine Beast calls down lightning upon the desert scaring the wild life and riling up some powerful predators of the sands. Many lost their lives to them. Only our chief can get near the Divine Beast and dispel the lightning with our clan's treasure. Our people are constantly in the line of fire too."
"We know others have suffered," Pyle stated.
Teba shot a glare of the Gorons. "Yet you claim your people are suffering the most."
"That's because we are," Bargoh argued.
All shouted, trying to be louder than the other as the air remained still yet filled to the brim with tension. Mipha took a step forward, but became blocked by Hudson. He slammed his hammer on the ground. The group immediately turned towards him.
Hudson eyes were soft. "When building any kind of structure, you have to design it on paper first. To know the dimensions of course and to see it outside of your own head."
Pyle and Bargoh blankly stared as Rivan and Gaddison tilted their heads. Teba seemed to relax a bit while Rhomson waited.
Hudson sat down. "This way you can see the big picture and notice any flaws of the initial design."
"Your point?" asked Bargoh.
"Everyone is suffering," Hudson replied. "Many people are divided and more lives have been lost than any of us can count. However, when you look at the big picture, three individuals are suffering the most."
The tension of the air remained yet did not grow as the group looked at each other.
"Well Zelda has to be one of them," Pyle stated. "She is still holding the Calamity at bay inside Hyrule Castle."
"And has done so alone for a century," Bargoh added.
Hudson nodded.
"I am...certain Link is another," said Teba. "To wake up...have no memory and in a land he once knew changed horribly."
Mipha stared longingly at the shrine. "He blames himself for the Calamity winning...seeing the land that he failed to save...hurts him. He is afraid that he will fail again."
"Which is why he needs training," Pyle argued.
Gaddison stepped forward. "The right kind yes. And with no one attacking him."
Pyle scowled while Bargoh turned away.
Rivan took a deep breath. He looked over at Mipha. "...Mipha is the third."
"Yeah," Gaddison stated. "She has been shunned and ridiculed by her own race."
Hudson sat down. "Honestly, I don't think that is the worst part."
Mipha looked over at Hudson. She was silent. Waiting for him to continue.
"I can't possibly understand it," Hudson continued, "but I think the worst part is that you had to watch all of this happen...and didn't have the ability to do anything."
Mipha, to everyone's surprise, smiled. "You are right. You don't understand. It is a close second though."
Hudson blinked. "Right. My apologies."
Rhomson and Gaddison glanced at Mipha's eyes; a painful sorrow lingered in them...loneliness.
"If she went after her Divine Beast," said Pyle, "then that would be one less worry for us."
Hudson glared at Pyle. "And what was she suppose to do?"
"Try to take it back," Bargoh added.
"What do you think would have happened if she had?" asked Hudson.
Rhomson tightened her grip on her own arm. "...she would have died."
"Exactly," Hudson stated. "She had no way to reclaim the Divine Beast. None of them did. They would have needed the Slate."
The Gorons stared at him while Teba and Rivan looked at him with a lost expression. Mipha and Gaddison mouth's were ajar slightly.
Rhomson put a hand on her hip. "You know an awful lot Hudson."
Hudson smiled. "Well my ancestors examined the Guardians and the Divine Beasts along side the Sheikians."
"Shouldn't that information been shared?" asked Pyle.
Bargoh nodded. "If they had known, they could have lived."
Mipha shook her head. "No...they wouldn't be here either way."
Rhomson looked skyward. "Gerudo don't have that long of a live span...Urbosa was already an adult when she was Champion. She wouldn't be alive even if she hadn't gone after her Divine Beast."
"Same with Revali," said Teba. "He...wouldn't be here either."
"At least Daruk would still be here," Bargoh argued.
"You should be glad he isn't," Mipha stated. "He would have beaten you both worse than Purah did for what you have done."
"What?!" shouted Bargoh.
"He didn't have one hundred years left in him," Mipha replied. "He...and the others...wanted to do something useful...even if the odds were stacked against them."
Mipha's eyes watered as the memory of each Champion filled her mind: Daruk's bright and cheerful smile, Revali's determination, and Urbosa's motherly attitude. She shut her eyes tight to prevent any tears from leaking out. Zelda appeared in her mind. Her strong will to find a way to unlock her power and learn about the Guardians. Then...they all vanished...leaving her isolated...alone.
Gaddison placed a hand on Mipha's shoulder. "If you need to cry, we can give you some privacy."
Mipha smiled and placed a hand on Gaddison's hand. "No...I will be fine."
Rhomson hung her head a little. Your body language says other wise.
Deep inside the shrine, Link stood amid a large chamber with many small pillars scattered about with a small Guardian staring at him. It's dome head rose up with two arms extending out. One holding a downward glowing, blue triangle while the other held a large, curved energy blade.
Sweat poured off of Link as he took a few steps back. The entrance he took suddenly shut, cutting off his escape.
The Guardian charged toward Link with it's raised energy blade, Link rolled back quickly before it swung down. It charged again. Link immediately hid behind a pillar. The pillar shattered with a single strike from the Guardian.
It rose it's blade again and swung. Link brought up his wooden shield. The energy blade cleaved the shield in two and part of the swing hit Link. Pain shot through out Link's body as he forced himself to retreat further. His back now against a wall. He frantically looked around...no one else was down with him.
The Guardian marched toward him.
Link breathing rapidly increased as the Guardian drew closer.
His eyes scanned the whole room and yet could not find anything.
Except his own shadow.
There stretched across the floor reacting to the light around it as normal, shaking as much as he was.
Deep within his mind, he sworn he heard his shadow chuckle. "You better figure it out or you will continue to be scared of your own shadow."
The memory of that encounter played out in his mind...and the vow that he swore. Link discarded his broken shield and drew his sword. His arm shook while his knees quaked yet he stared down the encroaching Guardian. The sound of gears whirling rapidly echoed through the chamber as it held its arms horizontal. Link took a deep breath and stepped toward it.
The Guardian spun its arms in a complete circle rapidly as it flew towards Link. Link rolled to the side and slashed. Sparks flew as metal clashed with metal. Link swung again with a hit and a third only to hit the energy triangle, blocking his attack completely. The Guardian rose its blade high and Link rolled back before it swung. He rushed forward and slashed but it was blocked again. The eye in the center glowed. Link dashed behind a pillar and avoided the shot.
Link breathed deep and heavily as his eyes scanned the area to search for anything. A familiar gear sound rang through the chamber. Rubbed his head with his free hand. He then blinked as he brought out the Slate. Both his hands shook but he quickly rose to his feet. Whirling sung through the air. Link rolled to the side and the pillar was destroy. He placed a square bomb mid-roll near another pillar and scurried behind another pillar.
Boom!
The blast sound reverberated off the walls and hit Link's ears in full force. He fell to his knees gripping the sides of his head while gritting his teeth. Seconds passed before the sound finally began to fade. Link lowered his hands and opened his eyes to see a dust cloud thinning out and the pile of the Guardian crushed into pieces came into view. The way forward and the entrance he took to get inside open.
Link noticed the shield and weapon near the pile. He slowly made it to his feet and nearly gave out. He dropped his sword and placed a hand on the near by wall. His whole body trembled as he breathed deep. His eyes fixated on his shadow.
"Need...to get...better."
Taking a few more deep breaths, he pushed against the wall to stands up and collect the spoils of the battle.
Back outside the shrine, the group fell silent after their talk: Pyle and Bargoh watched the shrine to see any kind of reaction, Rivan and Gaddison were with Mipha with Midna resting, Teba stared out into the ocean, and Hudson and Rhomson sat together in silence.
"...hey," Pyle whispered to Bargoh.
Bargoh turned his head.
"You knew what I was talking about earlier right?"
Bargoh nodded.
"I didn't expect the others to come at us like that. I just wanted them to know the hell that our people go through."
Bargoh looked back at the shrine. "...well...I guess they thought that you didn't know what they were going through. It's like we have been saying; we need to stop the Calamity as soon as possible."
Pyle nodded. "So we need to find an opening and take the hero to Death Mountain."
"We should wait until we get closer," Bargoh quietly suggested. "More people to help us."
Pyle nodded.
Rhomson glared in the Gorons direction.
"Are they scheming?" Hudson asked quietly.
"I wouldn't put it past them," Rhomson whispered.
"Well we know what they are planning Rhomson. We will prevent it from happening."
Rhomson nodded. "Yes. I won't let them halt our progress."
Hudson chuckled. "We can always make up for lost time by finding a way to ditch them."
"Not a bad plan, but Gorons are strong. For now, we should have them around."
"You are right. Every construction job needs heavy hitters after all."
"You know Hudson, you compare life to building a lot."
Hudson smiled. "Well 'construction' can be compared to life in many ways. The ways I said before: the ladder and the plans to see the big picture. There is one thing for certain they have in common."
"What is it?" Rhomson looked at Hudson with curious eyes.
Hudson looked up at the sky. "It's easier with another person at your side."
Rhomson blushed and looked away quickly. "...yeah...you are right."
Hudson looked at Rhomson. "Something wrong?"
Rhomson shook her head and looked back at him with the blush faded. "No. Just never really considered that is all."
The two continued to make small talk quietly.
Teba listened to the crashing waves below, eyes closed. After who knows how long, he opened them, and took to the skies. He flew in circles above their area.
Rivan saw Teba take off. "Scouting I guess."
"Not a bad idea," Mipha stated.
Gaddison remained quiet.
"You okay?" asked Rivan.
Gaddison nodded. "Just...thinking."
Rivan fidgeted his fingers. "...would you...like to share?"
Mipha smiled. "When did you get to be so caring?"
Rivan blushed. "I've always cared."
Mipha giggled.
"...what is the worst part?" asked Gaddison. Her eyes on Mipha.
Mipha met her gaze. "What do you mean?"
"Earlier, when Hudson was talking about the worst part for you and you said it was a close second."
Rivan looked at Mipha.
Mipha didn't respond. After what seemed like hours, she smiled. "It's not something I believe you or Rivan will go through. So you don't need to worry about it."
"But what could be worse than what Hudson mentioned?" asked Gaddison.
"I would like to know too," Rivan stated.
Growling silenced the conversation as Midna stood in a defensive position.
"We are about to have company," Mipha called out.
The two Gorons drew their weapons as did Rhomson and Hudson. Rivan and Gaddison had their spears ready and Mipha had her trident in hand. Teba circled over head, seeing the stances of the group, he began looking for intruders...yet none could be seen.
A Yiga member appeared in front of Mipha in a puff of red smoke. Rivan thrust his spear forward forcing the intruder to dodge. Three more appeared around Mipha, weapons drawn. Midna pounced on one, Gaddison clashed her weapon against another, and Mipha pierced the last one with her trident. All four Yiga members disappeared in red smoke and then reappeared a few feet away from the party.
Hudson and Rhomson joined the Zoras. Pyle and Bargoh stayed back by the shrine. Teba glided down toward the Yiga, bow drawn.
Faster than Teba could react, an arrow shot through the sky and pierced his arm. He cried in pain and plummeted toward the ground. The others quickly noticed this, Hudson ran back and barely caught him before he hit the ground.
"You okay?" asked Hudson.
Teba grunted as he steadied himself. "I'll live."
Behind the Yiga, two Blue maned Lynels walked towards them. One of which wielded a bow while the other held a spear.
"Lynels?!" shouted Rivan. "Here?!"
Mipha quickly took a defensive stance. This isn't good.
"It seems that those Yiga bastards are getting impatient," Pyle stated.
"There is only two of them," Bargoh said.
"And they managed to shoot down Teba before we noticed their presence," Rhomson stated. "Plus the four Yiga members, this isn't going to be easy."
The Lynel with the spear charged toward Mipha who jumped out of the way. She quickly spun around toward the attacking spear wielding Yiga member and parried the attack. The bow Lynel aimed toward Mipha, who was in mid air. Pyle rolled down the hill and slammed into the bow wielding Lynel and its shot went wide.
Rivan thrust his spear forward toward the Yiga member he faced. He parried the blow with his curved sword and slashed Rivan across the chest. Gaddison rushed in and pierced the leg of the one who hurt Rivan. This maneuver left her back exposed which another Yiga member wielding a sickle cut into. Gaddison spun around, swinging her spear with the momentum, but the pain arched through her body and her attack missed.
The bow Lynel reared up and dropped its hooves toward Pyle. Hudson jumped up and smacked it in the face. The Lynel roared and clawed at Hudson, landing a hit on his side. Blood poured out as he gritted his teeth. Rhomson dropped her shield and slid down on it, staying low. She went underneath the beast and slashed its hind legs. It howled out in pain as it tried to stomp on her. Rhomson didn't stop her sliding and moved past the Lynel and saw the fourth Yiga member using a bow aiming at her. He fired and Rhomson jumped up into the air to dodge. The bow Yiga quickly knocked another arrow. Teba aimed with pain coursing through his arm and fired. The Yiga arrow and Teba's arrow collided in mid air.
Teba grimaced. Damn this injury.
Mipha parried and blocked the spear Yiga's attacks while dodging the spear Lynel's thrusts. Midna clawed and bit toward the spear Yiga, who was avoiding her attacks as well.
Mipha grunted. We have to end this before Link emerges from the shrine.
Hudson rolled to the side, blood pouring down his side. The bow Lynel swiped at him again. Bargoh slammed into it with roll attack as Pyle slammed his heavy rock sword into the side of the monster. The Lynel roared as it reared up its hind quarters and thrust its legs out. Hudson laid down and avoided the attack. The bow Lynel aimed another shot at Mipha.
Rhomson landed and rolled toward the bow Yiga and swung her sword. The Yiga jumped back to avoid the attack, yet was struck by an arrow fired by Teba, blood seeping down his arm. The bow Yiga knocked another arrow and released it...towards Mipha.
A soft blue light glowed from the shrine entrance as Link, covered in soot and dust, emerged from the pad.
Mipha continued to dodge and parry attacks. Midna saw the arrow and leap towards it, but the spear Yiga struck her with the blunt end of his spear. Mipha turned and saw the Yiga arrow and the Lynel arrow flying towards her. She ducked down and avoided the shots, but could not avoid the Yiga spear piercing her leg, nor the Lynel spear that slashed into her back.
Link focused his eye sight to the brightness outside, and saw Mipha get cut down. He trembled, his whole body shook.
"MIPHA!" he cried out.
Link put down a shield and slid down the slope. The sword Yiga and the sickle Yiga turned their attention to Link and disappeared in red smoke only to reappear in front of him. Link took a bow out of the Slate and aimed at the Lynel. Both Yiga members rushed him. Teba couldn't knock another arrow for his fingers were to slick with blood, Hudson couldn't move from his position, Rhomson was too far away, Pyle and Bargoh were too focused on the bow Lynel, Midna was still stunned, Rivan and Gaddison were running toward Link to stop him, and Mipha just hit the ground.
Link knees quaked. This is a terrible idea!
Right before the two Yiga members swung, Link ducked underneath the attacks, little hair was severed while the sickle scratched his forehead. Link slid past them and released his arrow. It struck in the chest of the beast, who didn't take much damage. Link then leapt from his shield, over the Lynel's head and onto its back. Link grabbed the mane of the creature and held on tight. The spear Lynel bucked and shook to try force Link off, yet he didn't loosen his grip in the slightest.
"What are you doing?!" shouted Pyle.
"No idea!" Link responded.
Mipha saw the Lynel was purely focused on shaking Link off. She smiled and rolled towards the monster and pierced its underside with her trident. It roared in pain. The bow Lynel and Yiga aimed for Link. Rhomson quickly slashed the bow Yiga user. Hudson slammed his hammer into the hind legs of the Lynel with as much force as he could muster from his prone position. Pyle and Bargoh slammed their stone swords into the Lynel's head. Rivan and Gaddison caught up to the sickle and sword Yiga members and stabbed them with their spears. The spear Yiga saw the opening on Mipha and jumped towards her. Midna pounced onto the Yiga member and sunk her fangs into his throat.
Link took out a square bomb from the Slate and tied it to the mane of the monster. Once done, he fell off willingly, and reached for Mipha. She reached out to him and grabbed his hand. Link slid down the hill with Mipha on his back, getting more scrapes. He turned back toward the Lynel and detonated the bomb.
The bow Lynel disappeared in a puff of purple smoke while the four Yiga members all vanished in red smoke. The spear Lynel roared and charged toward Link. Link's whole body continued to tremble as he stood up and withdrew the energy sword from his encounter with the Guardian. He rushed forward as the Lynel took a deep breath, embers formed on the edge of its mouth. With his shaking hands, Link stabbed the creature in the chest and swung to one side. A fiery inferno was inside the monster's mouth. Link stared into the flames that had formed. The fire quickly faded as the creature dispersed into purple smoke.
The battle was over and the heroes had won.
"Mipha!" Link shouted.
He ran to her side.
"You did...amazing Link," Mipha spoke with a weak voice.
"We need to get you some help," Link stated.
Rhomson nodded. "We need to take the injured to the village."
Link nodded as he picked up Mipha bridal style. Mipha blushed brightly as he began to carry her to village with Midna following close behind.
Rhomson smiled. A true hero indeed.
Hudson raised his hand. "A...little help please."
"Oh sorry," Rhomson stated.
She helped him to his feet and both followed Link.
"Good team work," Rivan said to Gaddison.
"You too," Gaddison said with a smile.
She grunted in pain.
"Are you alright?" asked Rivan.
Gaddison nodded. "Let's go."
Teba collapsed. Pyle picked him up.
"Easy there," Pyle stated.
Teba clicked his tongue. "Dammit. I was useless."
Bargoh stared at the scene of what had just happened, and then the 'fight' he and Pyle had with Link back at Central Hyrule.
Bargoh rubbed his chin. The hero's combat abilities have increased this much since our battle. Does this mean...that this way is actually working?
