The rangers returned to the command center still morphed, the weight of their recent loss heavy upon them. Trini's absence was a gaping wound and the sorrow that filled the room was palpable. They all removed their helmets and set them on the top of the consoles.

Amid the somber atmosphere, Kimberly's voice rang out, a mix of anguish and determination in her tone. "What happened?" she demanded, her eyes locked onto Billy. "How did Rita come back?"

Billy knew the question was directed at him. He looked at the tube with the giant crack in it realizing this was his fault. He was the cause of Trini's death. He punched the console screen, cracking it and distorting the image. The sudden outburst caught the others by surprise. In all their years of being together, they never saw Billy lash out like that.

"I've been trying to bring Zordon back. Alpha Eight and I detected a powerful presence. I thought at the very least it was remnants of him from the Z-wave. We tried to converge the particles and draw them in. We were bringing them in and reconstituting the particles which would in theory bring Zordon back. We were wrong."

"The particles you found weren't his," Jason said.

"Exactly. They were the remains of Rita's evil presence that had been scattered across space." Billy hung his head and turned around. "They were completely harmless until my naivete brought them back together. She broke through the tube and possessed Alpha Eight."

"That would explain the robot body," Tommy said.

"Okay, so what do we do now?" Kimberly asked.

"We take the fight to Rita," Jason said. "She said she was going to the dark dimension. I say we go there, find her, and destroy her." The rage in his voice was unmistakable. He was clearly running on emotions.

Before anyone could respond to their leader's idea, Zack spoke up.

"Guys, there's another issue we need to face. Minh." The others all sighed in unison realizing they had forgotten about her.

"How do we break the news to her?" Kimberly asked. "Do we all go to her to tell her?"

"I don't think that's a good idea," Billy said. "I think it's better if two of us went. I'll go for sure as this is my fault –"

"Billy," Kimberly said. "No one here blames you for that. There was no way anyone would've known Rita's spirit was still floating around in space at all let alone after all these years."

"Still, I think I should go."

"I'll go too," Zack said. "We'll need to do it soon. She's gonna wonder why her mom hasn't come home. Jase, you mentioned wanting to find her in the dark dimension."

"Damn right, I do."

"Billy, do you still have those things we used to get into the dark dimension back in the day?"

"Not those exactly but I have other devices that will do the same thing. But I'm not sure if it's a good idea for us to split up for this."

"We're not going to engage," Tommy said. "We can scout around and find out where she's hiding and then come back later with the rest of us."

Billy exhaled loudly and nodded. "Okay, I'll go get them. But be careful."

"If you're going to talk to Minh and we're going to the dark dimension then how will we get back? Are we just going to leave these things on?" Kimberly asked.

"I'll set up a transdimensional homing beacon that will bring you straight back here when you are ready to teleport."

"Good," Jason said. "Let's go find that witch."

Minh's return home from school appeared to be like any other day, with her school books in hand and the usual preparations for the upcoming test week. She approached the house noticing Zack's SUV in the driveway. She was always excited to see Uncle Zack. The house seemed to hold the familiarity of daily routines, and Minh entered with a sense of normalcy.

However, as she stepped inside, her world was shattered by the sound of a heated argument between Zack and Billy. Their voices were filled with urgency and emotion, and amidst their intense discussion, Minh overheard fragments of words and phrases that sent her world spiraling.

"She doesn't need to know that we're power rangers," Zack said.

"She needs to know that Rita Repulsa killed her mom," Billy shot back, a heavy truth that hung in the room.

Minh stood frozen, her books and backpack slipped from her grasp, scattering on the floor. Her eyes darted back and forth between Zack and Billy. She tried to speak but her lips could only touch trying to push the word "mom" from them but her ability to speak failed her.

The revelation was too much to bear, and in that moment, her fragile world came crashing down. She turned and fled, racing upstairs to her mother's room, the only room in the house where she felt safe because her mother was there. Not anymore. Tears blurred her vision, making it virtually impossible to see. She reacted on muscle memory alone to make it to her mother's room. The door slammed shut behind her, and inside, the weight of grief and shock overcame her, pushing her to the floor. The realization that her mother was gone. A victim of someone named Rita. She wanted answers as to who this Rita was and why would she kill her mother.

Amidst the heart-wrenching sobs and the sea of emotions that overcame her, Minh's tear-filled eyes turned to the pictures on the wall. They were a visual timeline of her family's history, capturing moments of joy, love, and togetherness.

Her gaze fell upon pictures of her and her mother, frozen in time, as they had navigated the challenges and cherished the joys of life. They had shared laughter, tears, and a bond that transcended words. Each photograph told a story, painted a memory, and Minh clung to these snapshots of her beloved mother, who was no longer there to create new memories with.

Among the photographs, there were a few that held a profound significance. Images of Minh as a baby, held in the arms of her father, who had been taken from her when she was just two years old. Her father's American flag, preserved in a case and hanging on the wall, seemed to watch over the family, a solemn reminder of his presence and his sacrifice.

The room was filled with the weight of history and the depth of their family's love. Minh was surrounded by the echoes of her family's journey, by the bonds of love and the memories that remained etched in those photographs.

As she wept for her mother and father, the room seemed to carry the essence of their spirits, a testament to the enduring love and the profound sense of loss that Minh had to carry in her young heart.

With her eyes still puffy and red from the constant crying, Minh finally emerged from her mother's room, her heart heavy with the grief and questions that had overwhelmed her. Her gaze landed on Zack and Billy, who were just walking in the door, their appearance marked by dirt and disheveled clothing, a stark contrast to the figures she had seen earlier.

The intensity of Minh's emotions left her no room for hesitation. She faced them with a determination that belied her young age and demanded answers, her voice quivering but resolute.

"Tell me," Minh began, her voice a tremor of grief and frustration. "What happened to my mom? Who is this Rita? Why did she kill her?"

The weight of the questions hung in the air, and Minh's eyes locked onto Zack and Billy, the people who had shared her mother's secret life. In her search for understanding and closure, she turned to them, seeking the truth behind the tragedy that had torn her universe apart.

In a moment fraught with heavy responsibility and grief, Zack and Billy, their own eyes pained with sorrow, took a deep breath. It was time to reveal the truth despite Zack's initial objections. Minh deserved an explanation for the loss of her mother.

With a shared glance that conveyed their mutual understanding, they began to speak, their voices gentle yet tinged with the solemnity of the revelation.

"Minh," Zack began, "your mother, Trini, and we...we are power rangers."

Billy continued. "We've been power rangers since we were in high school. We fought to protect the world from evil. Your mother was one of the best. She was incredibly brave and dedicated, and she made the ultimate sacrifice."

The words hung in the air, and Minh's eyes widened with the gravity of the revelation. She wasn't sure if she actually believed it.

"You're saying she was a power ranger? An actual ranger?"

Zack set Trini's power morpher on the counter. Realizing that Minh probably wouldn't know what this was, he set his own on the counter next to it as did Billy.

"This was your mother's," Zack said. "This is what she used to become a power ranger."

Minh stared at her mother's morpher. Her mother had been a hero, a protector of the world, just as she had protected Minh throughout her life.

"Why didn't she tell me?"

"It was the rules," Zack said. "When we all became rangers we were told not to tell anyone about it. We fought hard to keep it a secret."
"We telling you this so that this tragedy makes a little bit of sense," Billy said. "Rita is the first villain we faced. We thought she was long gone and through one of my mistakes she came back."

Minh shot him a look of confusion but was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that her mother was one of the world's protectors.

The room was filled with a profound sense of truth and loss, and as Minh absorbed the reality of her mother's heroic life, she was left to grapple with the enormity of her legacy and the sacrifice she made.

"Tell me everything," Minh said. Billy and Zack looked at each other knowing it was going a long night.

Jason, Kimberly, and Tommy ventured deep into the foreboding Dark Dimension. It had changed drastically since they were last here. What they encountered was beyond their wildest imaginations. The once solitary room had transformed into an eerie and vast catacomb, stretching far beyond their line of sight.

The walls of the catacombs were adorned with sinister, demonic faces highlighted in an ominous red hue. They seemed to leer and sneer, watching the rangers' every move with malevolence. As the rangers continued their exploration, the faces appeared to shift and contort, whispering secrets and threats into the chilling air.

Fog, thick and opaque, rolled along the ground, creating an eerie atmosphere that swallowed their footsteps as they ventured deeper. It swirled around their feet like an otherworldly presence, adding to the sense of trepidation that hung in the air.

The catacombs were a labyrinth of darkness and mystery, and each step taken by the rangers was a step further into a realm filled with the unknown. Their quest to locate Rita had led them into a surreal, nightmarish dimension, and the challenges they would face in this unsettling place were beyond anything they had encountered before.

In the dark and dank dungeon-like room, Rita stood before the remnants of Finster's old monster-making machine. Her thoughts were filled with malevolence as she meticulously selected monsters for her devious plan, her voice a sinister whisper to herself.

"I'll need Terror Toad for his ability to devour the rangers. I'll add on the ability to shrink them down to size as well," she mused, her red yet crooked eyes glinting with wicked intent. "Snizzard will be invaluable with his venom to paralyze them, rendering them helpless. And of course Minotaur, with his raw brute strength, will wear them down until they can't fight anymore."

Unbeknownst to Rita, Jason, Tommy, and Kimberly had silently made their way to her location. The weight of their recent loss and their determination to stop her drove them forward, but they couldn't make out what she was saying.

The promise of avoiding engagement with Rita was wearing thin with Jason. The overwhelming range bubbling within him, combined with the allure of confronting their old adversary was impossible to ignore. He clenched his fist, a silent manifestation of his turmoil, and it didn't escape the attention of the other two rangers.

Kimberly, sensing the shift in their leader, sought clarity. "What's the plan, Jase? I'm on board either way. There isn't a lot of putties."

Tommy, equally eager for action, chimed in. "I'm with you. I could use some payback."

The promise of caution and restraint seemed to shatter at that moment. Jason's resolve was unwavering as he made a swift decision.

"Kim, take out that machine," his voice laced with determination. "We're going in."

Kimberly, her fury ignited by the memory of Trini, raised her bow, her power surging through her as she aimed her arrow. She released her shot, and the arrow streaked through the air. Rita, absorbed in her intentions, unknowingly moved, and the arrow struck, shattering the Terror Toad model.

Rita's shriek of anger filled the room as she realized her monster's destruction. The rangers' presence was revealed, and they found themselves facing a horde of putties, summoned by Rita's command. In the ensuing battle, they fought valiantly but were soon overwhelmed by the relentless assault of the putties.

"We need to get out of here," Jason said recognizing the dire situation. The rangers began to run down the dark and nightmarish corridors, but not before Kimberly took another shot at the monster-making machine, smashing it to pieces. They made a hasty retreat teleporting away in mid-run back to the command center.

Rita's screams echoed throughout the Dark Dimension. Her plan had been ruined and now she was back to square one. As she looked down, she saw the models of Snizzard and Minotaur had not been destroyed as she thought. Maybe everything was not all lost.

In the stillness of Trini's home, Billy found himself alone in the bathroom, surrounded by the reminders of a life that was no longer there. The weight of his guilt pressed heavily on his shoulders, and the silence seemed to amplify his grief.

As he looked around, his eyes fell upon a necklace hanging from the cupboard handle. It was one of Trini's that he saw her wear often. He wasn't sure where she got it, whether she bought it for herself or a gift from Ryan. He stared at the necklace and the realization struck him with a painful truth–she would never wear it again.

The room seemed to close in around him, the weight of his guilt, the belief that it was his fault that Trini had lost her life, became an unbearable burden. The grief that had simmered beneath the surface surged forth, and he couldn't contain it any longer.

Billy's emotions overcame him, and he broke down, his tears flowing freely. The bathroom became a sanctuary for his sorrow, a place where he could release the pain and guilt that had festered within him.

In that solitary moment, as he held the necklace in his trembling hand, the depth of his loss and the enormity of the sacrifice Trini had made became painfully clear. Her memory was a haunting presence, and the necklace, a symbol of her absence, served as a stark reminder of the price they had paid.

As he wept, the echoes resonated throughout the house, carrying the heavy burden of the truth he had to bear. Downstairs on the couch, Zack stroked Minh's head that rested on his lap. She fell asleep crying. She was spared the sound of Billy's wails echoing through the house. Zack's heart ached for his friend, and every fiber of his being longed to rush to Billy's side, to offer comfort and solace in this moment of unbearable grief.

But he knew, deep down, that this was a pain Billy had to confront on his own terms. They all did. Grief was a personal journey, a storm that each person weathered in their own way. Zack understood that trying to intervene now might inadvertently add to the weight of Billy's sorrow.

With great restraint, Zack stayed where he was, giving his friend the space and time he needed to process his emotions. He knew that sometimes, the most meaningful support was the silent presence of a friend who would be there when the storm had passed. He knew Billy would reach out when he was ready. The bonds of friendship their group shared were resilient, and in times of loss, those bonds could provide solace in their shared sorrow.
