Waking up from her recharge felt like she was waking up from a weeklong sleep. Mostly because Azura had been focused on practicing her abilities in her dream world that she really did not want to wake up. However, she was dragged out of it and she woke up and found herself still within Optimus's chassis. She felt very happy because it felt like home to her. And she no longer felt any kind of cold in her system, which was great. She smiled as she knew that Optimus's body had warmed her system now, and she would not need to have a lot of worry over her for a while. She stretched out her limbs with a yawn.
She heard a gentle hum from above and felt movement around her. She smiled as she knew Optimus was now aware that she is awake. She nuzzled into the seat as she listened to the pulse of his spark. She almost did not wish to leave the safety and warmth of the chassis. As she did so, she saw a fuel line extend down from a panel that opened just above her and she giggled softly as she took a hold of it. She placed the tip into her mouth to drink the energon.
"Morning, Optimus." Azura glanced at the wall of the chassis as she could just hear Ratchet's voice outside. "How is our little sparkling? Is she feeling much better? I see she must still be inside your chassis, so I am going to assume she is either still in recharge, or she does not wish to come out."
"Azura no longer feels cold to the touch," Optimus responded gently to Ratchet. "She is awake, and she is currently feeding on the low-grade energon. She only woke up a few minutes ago."
Ratchet chuckled gently in amusement. "I have to say, Optimus. If things like this happen more often, she might become a little too accustomed to being within your chassis. I have no doubt she enjoys it, as she was there as a new spark so long ago…"
"Even if that were to happen, Ratchet, I am willing to allow it while she is still small enough," Optimus interrupts gently, placing his hand on his chassis. "I feel as though there is a good enough excuse to allow it."
"I at least see that this will be a soft spot for you, Optimus," Ratchet said in a teasing tone. "When Azura is finished feeding bring her to the med bay. I want to make sure there is no damage to her systems. I hate to say it, but they could be weak for a while."
Optimus nodded as he understood. "Would it mean that she is too weakened to practice her abilities?"
Ratchet paused as he pondered on the question for a moment. "I don't really know, Optimus. To be fair, there has not been a Cybertronian in history with her abilities. We are kind of going by each day, honestly. But I would hope not. Do you still intend to take her to an island?"
He nodded again affirmatively. "It has been pushed back a lot, Ratchet. I know the ground bridge has only just been fixed, but I do believe Azura needs the training. She needs a lot of it in order to not hurt herself whenever she uses her powers."
"Well…I guess it should be fine. I will be here dealing with Wheeljack's ship anyway." Ratchet turned his head as he saw Wheeljack walking into the lobby. "Were you able to get a good recharge last night, Wheeljack?"
Wheeljack smiled politely at the medic. "I feel well, doc. It has been a while since I have been able to power down properly, as travelling through the stars with potential to encounter decepticons does not necessarily give a restful recharge." He chuckled a little as he turned to Optimus. "I overheard the conversation as I was walking in. The little one has recovered from the chill, or at least she no longer feels cold. She's a tough little one, despite her age and size."
Optimus sighed a little. "Did Ratchet tell you the story about her existence and how she ended up on Earth last night?"
"Yep. The doc told me all about it after you left to recharge, boss." Wheeljack softened his expression a little. "I remember that blast myself. A few of the wreckers ended up being infected with those sparks. It is just such a monstrous thing for Megatron to do. And I am not going to forget that time."
"Believe me, it was no pleasant. I know Optimus does not remember, but his whole body and system was really affected. At least good did come from it." Ratchet smiled at Optimus, glancing at his chassis as he knew Azura was feeding quietly. "In a twisted sense, without Megatron, she would not be here."
Wheeljack scoffed. "That might be true, but that con will not be in that girl's life. Especially if the rumors I keep hearing are true about Megatron's death. He might have only had a small part to play in her life, but we all know where that ended." He glanced at Optimus's chassis curiously for a moment and looked at Optimus. "Just curious, would the Matrix allow you to control elements like she can? A piece of the Matrix is in her, clearly, so I am curious."
Optimus shook his head. "The Matrix's power is strong, that is true, but it is not connected to the elements as you think. Azura's abilities did not come from the Matrix."
Ratchet raised an eyebrow as he was instantly curious. "You say that as if you know where that part of her comes from." Optimus did not react as the two bots gaze at him curiously. "Is there something you aren't telling us about Azura? Or perhaps, keeping from her as well."
Optimus intakes heavily and turned, walking over to the platform Azura used for art. He looked at the canvas Azura had been using the draw the picture of a celestial dragon. He knew exactly what the image was of, and it made him think that Azura was aware of her heritage. He didn't expect her to come out and say it though, as he knew it wouldn't exactly be the easiest topic to talk about. Especially as Azura is related to the being she had drawn.
"It may surprise you that you do not know everything that happened when the original Primes faced Unicron all those years ago," Optimus explained gently. "It is a story Alpha Trion told me, but only a few know of the truth."
"Woah, really?" Wheeljack was very curious about it all of a sudden. "Hold on…why was that kept for the rest of us?"
"Because that is what the Primes agreed upon, mostly because of the other being from another world had come to help the Primes defeat Unicron. That is because her world was affected by Unicron at the time, so the creature came to Cybertron and aided them against Unicron. Without her, the Star Saber and Matrix might not be as they are today." Optimus turned away from the canvas to the face the other two bots. "A part of the creature's DNA and power resides within the Matrix. I believe that is where Azura got her abilities from, and maybe the reason why she was the only spark to survive."
Azura was listening quietly. She was surprised that Optimus actually did know about the dragon, and she wanted to ask him more about her. She didn't know how much he knew, but that didn't matter. She was actually happy, and she wanted to talk to him more about it. She didn't even know what she would say. She hoped he might be able to teach her how to transform, even though she knew it was something she had to learn herself in the end.
Ratchet looked at the painted image of the dragon curiously as he knew Optimus had been looking at it and looked at Optimus. "It feels like it is an important history that everyone should really know, Optimus. I fail to understand why you won't tell us the full story. Does this mean…that Azura has some CNA or DNA from another creature?"
"Correct."
"Okay, but she can still transform, right?" Wheeljack asked curiously as he stood in confusion. "I must say though, I remember coming across a dead world with statues of a similar creature to that." Optimus looked at the wrecker in surprise as he mentioned that. "And there was one statue with this creature, surrounded by the Primes." He pulled out a round device and pressed a few buttons before bringing up a large hologram of the statue, revealing the statue of the dragon with the Primes around it. "See?"
Optimus looked at the hologram with wide optics. Azura, who was listening, wanted to see as well. She didn't know if she would be able to as she finished feeding from him and she wanted to see. And to her surprise, Optimus would allowed her to see. He quietly opened a set of panels, parting them slowly so Ratchet and Wheeljack do not see, but the light filtered through and made her grimace. She move to the opening to peer out, and widen her optics as she gazed at the statue hologram.
Seeing the statue that Wheeljack had been able to scan and keep with him was amazing. The statue itself seemed to be old, which wouldn't be a surprise since the world is dead. But she didn't expect that something could still be found on the planet. She smiled as she stared at the dragon statue. Since it was a hologram, it was hard to appreciate it. But seeing that Wheeljack was able to capture the detail of it with his device was impressive.
"This is…wow…" Ratchet stared at the hologram in disbelief. "So another world knew of our existence long before we even discovered Earth." He didn't know if it was something he should be worried about or not. He looked at Optimus curiously. "If that world is dead, do you know what happened to the inhabitants?"
"As far as I know, they are all gone." Azura was saddened as she knew that was the case. "However, our past has crossed paths with this world only once. And without her help, we might not be standing here to today."
"Her?" Wheeljack tilts his head curiously and looked at the dragon. "So this thing here came from another world to help the Primes defeat Unicron. They obviously succeeded…do you know what happened to her?"
"The dragon you see from the statue here sacrificed her life in the final battle against Unicron," Optimus explained gently. "Using the combined power of the Matrix and Star Saber with the dragon, they were able to banish Unicron. The only reason why she sacrificed herself, was because Unicron was going to destroy Cybertron in a single hit. So she took the blast, and saved our home."
"Wow…" Ratchet was still in disbelief as he looked at Optimus. "So…part of her power resides inside the Saber and Matrix?" The leader nodded affirmatively. "And Azura has somehow got a piece of this dragon in her." He rubbed his chin thoughtfully as this was a big revelation. "Wow…I really do not know what to say."
Optimus smiled at the medic as he understood. "I had suspected it once it was revealed she has abilities to influence the weather and control the elements. Plus, her hair is gold, just like the spines and mane of the dragon. I have no doubt that part of the dragon is in her." Ratchet was still in disbelief and Optimus turned to Wheeljack. "As for your question about her transforming, she will be able to. But taking on a vehicular mode may not be possible for her. But she will likely have a different transformation."
Wheeljack glanced at the sculpture and smiled. "Well…that really is something." He turned off the hologram with a light chuckle. "I think you should let her out now. I am going to imagine she still has the toy I made for her as well."
Optimus smiled as he gently closed the panels. Azura moved away from them and grabbed the toy, only to realize she was busting. She whimpered as she clenched her thighs together and placed a hand on her abdomen. "I really need to use the bathroom, daddy. I have been distracted, now I really, really need to go."
Optimus widened his optics as he heard that from her. "Will you make it to your room?"
"Nope! Let me run up to the bathroom on the first catwalk." Azura watched as the chassis opens as he reached inside to grab her. Azura whimpered as she held onto his hand as Optimus moved her to the first catwalk and placed her on it. "Thank you!" She ran to the bathroom and closed the door with a slam.
Wheeljack was surprised and confused by that. "Um…what…"
"Azura's system is a little different to ours, as I was explaining to you last night, Wheeljack," Ratchet said to the wrecker gently. "Azura is able to use the toilet, as humans do. Although, now that we know of the other information about her, it does seem to be reasonable that she goes it from the dragon too. I will assume the dragons ate food like humans, and had a similar system, so it makes sense."
"That is likely the case, Ratchet. I also still believe the Matrix played part when she arrived on this planet that allowed her to live among the humans and survive on their food." Optimus looked at Wheeljack with an amused smile. "She goes every morning and night."
"I see." The wrecker was still surprised by it, but he simply shrugged and put on a smile. "I guess this means when Arcee, Bumblebee and Bulk get back, you and Azura will go to that island." Optimus nodded. "I hope you don't mind, but I would like to accompany you. I know you want to help Azura train, but maybe I could be of help."
Optimus raised an eyebrow at Wheeljack as his offer to help was odd to him. "Azura needs concentration, Wheeljack. She needs to in order to gain control. The main reason I have picked an island is because while I know she can manipulate water and wind okay, I know fire and electricity will be more difficult. But I am not sure of the extent of her powers either. So that is why consistent training will occur."
"Oh, I totally understand, but she also needs something to unleash that power onto." Prime was not convinced, and he also did not want others to put themselves in harms way. Even if it was for the purpose of helping Azura. "Come on, boss. You have got to loosen up."
Ratchet hummed in disagreement with the wrecker. "I am afraid Optimus has every right to be concerned about his daughter, Wheeljack. It is noble that you want to help but using wrecker means of training Azura, but it is clearly not going to work. Her abilities are different to ours, but the only one who can help her is Optimus."
Wheeljack shrugged as he thought about it. "I guess so. But has the kid even transformed yet?"
"She is not old enough," Optimus responded calmly. "Nor is she big or strong enough for transformation. Her time will come. Plus…" He glanced at Ratchet with a smile. "Ratchet has informed me of some things that need to be done for Azura, so I believe that needs to happen first before she can transform."
Azura could hear everything that is being said. She knew that she could transform, she just knew that it wasn't the right time to do that just yet. She needed more time for practicing at the moment. She did wonder if her own appearance would even look more draconic at some point. She looked at her hands curiously, looking at her fingers closely. She saw particular lines in her fingertips that seem to indicate she had claws. She wasn't sure if that was the case or not.
Though as she flexed her fingers casually, Azura jumped with a gasp as she felt a sudden shift in her fingers. She widened her optics as she saw her fingertips roll suddenly, giving her sharp, white claws on her fingertips. She stared in shock as she had not meant to do that. She rubbed one claw against the palm of her hand and felt how sharp it was. She smiled as they could come in handy. But she changed her fingers back to normal. She didn't want to show them off just yet. She wondered if she had a tail too.
She giggled to herself as she knew she should not get too carried away with it. She finished using the toilet and cleaned herself before making her way out. She felt so much better and she did agree with Ratchet. She likely could survive on Earth like a human by eating food and using the toilet because of her dragon DNA in her. But Azura didn't know if she should comment on it. She clung to her toy that she had taken with her. The metal Stitch was still great to hug, even though she still missed the original toy.
She looked down and smiled as the bots look up at her. "Sorry about before…that was kind of embarrassing…" She chuckled softly, scratching at her wrist as she looked at them shyly. "Um…uh…I did hear everything that was being said…"
"Are you feeling a bit embarrassed by the conversation?" Optimus asked curiously, softening his expression. "I hope I didn't do something wrong again…I know what I said is another lot to take in…"
She giggled at him as she walked down the stairs. "It is okay, daddy. You were talking about the dragon. She…she's my ancestor, I…I already knew that." He raised an eyebrow at her in surprise. "She reached out to me in my dream and spoke to me…it was…informing." She scratched at the back of her neck. "She told me the story about her involvement. So I already knew."
"For how long?" Ratchet asked curiously and she simply shrugged at him. The medic chuckled in amusement. "Alright, well, I need to do a basic check of your system, Azura. Come to me and I'll do a quick check."
She ran over to him happily and he scooped her up, making her giggle as he spun to the direction of the med bay, which was a surprise and made her giggle. "I didn't think you were that quick on your feet."
"Pfft, pa-lease!" Ratchet chuckled softly as he walked towards the med bay. "I might be old, but I can still move quickly when I want to. You do not need to worry, my joints are not going to give out from under me." He paused as he heard the engines approaching. "Ah, seems like the others are here with the humans. Alright, let's get you checked up first. I think they will want to go with you to the island."
Azura wanted to say hi to the others, but she guessed Ratchet just wanted to get this over with. She relaxed in his arms as the medic carried her to the med bay. She was not sure what kind of concerns he would have, but he knew more about the Cybertronian body than she did. She was only barely learning about it at the moment. She knew a lot about the human body, but that wasn't going to do much for her, and she knew it.
Ratchet sits her on a med berth after entering the med bay and Azura glanced at the door with a light whimper. She would have liked Optimus to come with her. "It is alright, Azura." Ratchet grabbed a couple things and rolled them over to beside the berth. "Optimus simply wants to greet the others, as you know he likes to do that." She nodded as she looked down at the toy. "I know, it is just your yearning for him. And you haven't formed the bond yet properly, but I know it will be very strong when you do bond."
Azura was still curious how that works, but she would wait and see. Ratchet attaches a couple lines to her arm and turned to the console to type on it. "Are you sure a simple scan will reveal how my system is?"
"My scanner does not reveal everything. It's kind of a flaw, but it gives me a rough idea of what to expect when I get a patient. But in your case, my scanner wouldn't give me an accurate reading. So I must do this." He glanced at her as he gave her a kind expression. "Do not worry, Azura. This should not take long."
She hoped that it wouldn't. She really wanted to just go and do something. She felt like she had a lot of energy at the moment, and she wanted to go running. But Azura knew that Optimus will want her to train, so the energy she was feeling likely will help her get through the training just fine. But she was feeling impatient, so she didn't know how long she would actually be able to sit still long enough for Ratchet to complete his assessment.
But knowing that Optimus would not approve of her action if she chose to defy Ratchet kept her in place. Azura sighed and kicked her legs as she sat on the berth, waiting to know the results of the scan. She thought about annoying him, but it would make this go for much longer. She was already bored. The other thing she simply did was play with her toy, specifically the ears. She smiled as she changed the position of the ears as she knew how adorable Stitch is.
"Well…" Ratchet turned his head and sighed as he realized Optimus was not present in the med bay. "Optimus should be here to hear this." He glanced back at the screens while Azura looked at him curiously. "Your system isn't suffering, Azura." That was a good thing. "As you are not feeling discomfort, you will be able to go ahead just fine." Ratchet removed the lines from her and picked her up. "I will finish up here while you can go and let Optimus know you can go to the island."
Azura smile was wide as Ratchet lowered her to the ground. She hugged his leg quickly before turning and running out of the med bay. "Thanks, Ratchet!" She heard him chuckle as she ran back to the lobby. As she was running back, she almost ran right into Wheeljack's foot. "WOAH!" She shrieked as she jumped to the side, startling the wrecker as she looked up at him. "Sorry…I…I didn't realize anyone was walking this way."
"Nor did I." Wheeljack smiled as he crouched down. "I see you got a lot of energy. I was going to teach the Cybertronian way of learning our language, but since Optimus has some other plan for you today, I hope you don't mind if I tag along."
"Not at all." She walked closer to the wrecker and reached up to him for him to pick her up. "You are a very cool bot. You have a lot of energy yourself."
He chuckled as he picked her up and stood up, looking at her as he turned to return to the lobby. "It is not too surprising. I have a lot of resentment to the cons, and it is all pent up from all these years. I need to vent it somehow. Plus, I don't like seriousness all the time. It is much more fun to just go and do it."
She chuckled softly. "Yeah, I suppose that is true. But it is nice to have plans."
"I see you already have a serious mind," Wheeljack joked lightly at her. "And I was serious about you using your abilities against me. Ice and fire don't hurt us as much as you think." Azura was still unsure about that as she knew Optimus already said he was against the idea. And so was she. "At least you use water against me. It isn't like that will hurt me."
"Maybe only a little water, but a lot…I don't know." Azura knew that he wanted to help, but she felt he might not be able to. "I am curious about the kind of activity you plan for me to learn Cybertronian."
"Oh, that one is a lot of fun. It's kind of a puzzle game where you have to match the letters." She frowned in confusion as she listened to him. "There are multiple boxes set up around the place. Above the boxes are the different Cybertronian letters. And there will be a box filled with small planks with the letters on them. You have to match the letter in the correct box. It is a great way to remember it."
Azura listened as she noticed with a smile. "That is good to know. I think it might get altered a little to add the English alphabet so I get to know the letters, but that does sound like fun. And will definitely help me to learn your alphabet."
"Exactly!" Wheeljack looked up as he walked into the lobby, smiling at the others who were waiting. "I did this all the time with the sparklings under my care. They learned a lot quicker when they were having fun. And trust me, you'll get the easy stuff out of the way before Ratchet puts you to recharge with any of the boring stuff he might teach you."
Azura giggled softly as she agreed. She looked down and smiled as she saw Jack, Miko and Raf waiting for her. "Hey guys!" Wheeljack lowered her to the ground and she jumped off quickly. "Hope you are doing okay."
"We are fine, Azura. I hope you are doing okay after yesterday." She nodded quickly and Jack smiled at her. "That's great. Optimus was just telling us about the trip to the island. We figured we would come. I will make sure Miko does not bother you while you are trying to concentrate."
"I did already promise not to bother her. Besides, Bulkhead and Wheeljack are coming…" Miko gestured to the two wreckers with a smile. "We probably will go do something else. Plus, I've never been to a tropical island before. So that sounds pretty awesome to me."
"I don't mind that you are coming. I like the support." Azura looked up at Arcee curiously. "Are you both coming?"
Bumblebee nodded. "I am, but Arcee is staying behind to keep Ratchet company. He does not need to be left completely alone. Even though he tends to prefer that."
"Plus, I am not really interested in picking sand out a week from now," Arcee added with a chuckle. "But I know you aren't going for fun, so I hope it will be good." She turned to Optimus as he put in the coordinates into the ground bridge. "Just don't overwork your daughter, Optimus." He glanced at her in slight surprise. "You know she has a limit to her energy."
"I will not do such a thing." Optimus pulled the lever as he activates the ground bridge. "Though she does seem to have more energy today, so we shall see…" Optimus glanced down in surprise when he saw Azura running to the vortex as she giggled with Jack, Miko and Raf following behind her. "She certainly has more energy…"
Wheeljack chuckled loudly as he walked towards the vortex. "Which means you needn't worry too much, Arcee. Everything will be fine. But I better make sure they didn't run too far." He ran into the vortex with that.
Optimus simply smiled before he ran into the vortex with Bee and Bulkhead to get to the other side. Once he was on the other side, Optimus smiled as he glanced around as his feet touched the sand. It was a large island with a lot of space and a small jungle as well. He spotted Azura with Jack, Miko and Raf, and they were checking out some shells in the sand. He was pleased that they did not go far, even though there was no where they could really go. He decided that it will be good for her to let out some of that energy for now so she isn't too riled up for training.
