Azura was extremely fascinated with the shells that were in the sand on the beach. Because she has not seen the ocean very much, anything connected with the ocean was fascinating to her. She knew a lot of the shells used to be homes for different ocean creatures. But the shells were still something that fascinated her. For Raf and Jack, they haven't been to the ocean themselves either, so this was a treat for the two of them. The warm, fresh, humid around them filled their nostrils as they enjoy the sand of the island and the salty spray from the waves crashing against the sand.
"I cannot believe how many shells are spread out along here!" Azura said enthusiastically as she held numerous shells in her arm. "They are so pretty!" She turned and looked up at Optimus who was standing by with a smile on his face. "Do you think I could bring some of these back? I would love to make necklaces with these."
"As long as you do not create a mess, I think that should be fine," Optimus responded to the girl kindly. He was smiling as seeing Azura explore the world was great to him. "Give yourself a little bit of time before we start some training."
Azura nodded as she understood. "Hey, Azura!" Azura turned to Miko who was holding a handful of sand, letting it fall to the ground. "I was thinking, you can control earth, right?" She nodded, glancing at the sand in the girl's hand curiously. "I bet you could use sand to help you. It will be the easiest thing to control, compared to boulders and stuff…"
"Ah, actually, the whole earth stuff does also fall into volcanoes and earthquakes, not just moving sand and rocks," Azura interrupts with a slight smile, making Miko raise an eyebrow at her in surprise. "But you are right. I think it will probably be the last thing I learn. I would rather master the other elements before that you. I don't want to cause an earthquake unintentionally…which would than cause a tsunami, and I also do not want that."
"Oh, I see…" Miko dropped the sand she was holding in her hands and bit her lip lightly. "I guess that makes sense. I was thinking that you could probably create some pretty cool sculptures in the sand. Maybe not today."
"Azura will be focusing on a different element, Miko," Optimus said gently as he listened on what they were talking about. "Azura has much more to learn than just controlling elements and the weather. She harmed herself by causing freezing temperatures in Makeshift's body, and I do believe working towards to preventing that self harm is extremely important."
"I think that will take the longest to do. Besides though, would it not make sense she could have other abilities aside from those?" Jack could see Azura frowning as he asked the question, but he was curious. "What if she can control light? What about healing powers?"
"I am afraid I cannot answer those questions, Jack. Azura powers are not entirely mysterious, but as she has much to learn, there could be new things that she will unlock within herself. I do believe even shadow will be a power she can use." The kids look at Azura with wide eyes, and she tensed a little as she did not like that Optimus had said that. "I would not be afraid. You three should know that shadow isn't evil. I cast my shadow in the light all the time, as do you. It does not make it evil."
"Riiiighhht…" Miko was very intrigued by the whole idea and she smiled. "I think that is kind of cool!" She looked at Azura with a big smile. "You know, this means, you could potentially even use crystal as a kind of ability or something…since it is earth." Azura rolled her optics at Miko, amused by her ideas. Though it was true. "OOHHH! And rainbows too!"
"Miko, I think you're being a little overbearing," Azura said with a light chuckle. "Rainbows are also created by light and water, or light and crystal, so that's technically incorrect." She shook her head and looked up at Optimus. "Can you see why I was reluctant to tell them about it?"
Optimus's smile widened in amusement. Wheeljack chuckled in amusement at the girl. "There is absolutely no shame in them being proud of your abilities, Azura. It is creating imagination for sure, even if it might not happen, even I am curious about how strong your abilities are, youngling. But you are still an infant, so you might not unlock your true potential for years."
Optimus nodded in agreement with Wheeljack. "He is right, Azura. I understand you are feeling a little overwhelmed, but there is no shame. However…" He looked to the three children as they were looking up at them. "I will appreciate it if you three can keep to yourselves while Azura practices. She does not need distractions." He turned his head to look at Wheeljack sternly who was smiling. "And I mean it for you too, Wheeljack. Azura needs proper concentration. Even you think you can help her, stick the helping her with the alphabet, not something you don't even understand."
Wheeljack shrugged with a scoff. "I know, I know! Don't worry about it, boss. But I was serious that she could use her abilities on me. She's got to learn to use her abilities on moving targets."
"Um…I am not there yet…" Azura said as she reached up to grab a strand of her hair to play with nervously. "Um…I-I am kind of nervous about so many eyes on me." She took a few steps closer to Optimus before dropping the shells and running over to him. He picked her up and she held his wrists with her hands. "M-Maybe coming here with so many people was a bad idea…I-I…"
"That is why Bulkhead and I are here. Come on, Wheeljack. There seems to be a river rushing nearby, we could probably do something with Jack, Miko and Rafael." Bumblebee walked over to Wheeljack and grabbed his shoulder. "Azura is shy, and we are only complicating things by being here and staring at her while she trains. That will only cause her to lose control. Even I know that."
Wheeljack chuckled a little and looked down at the three kids. "I guess we had better let these two get to it. I don't want to cause more harm than good, so we had better leave them alone. I think there is something around here that we can do."
"Sounds like a good idea to me, Jackie!" Bulkhead said enthusiastically as he walked over with a big grin. "Come on, let's get out of here!"
Jack smiled as Miko and Raf run after Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Wheeljack as the bots lead them away. He was a little reluctant to leave as he wanted to stay and support Azura. He looked up at Optimus and Azura gestured for him to leave. Jack took a deep breath and nodded, understanding that she needs the space to concentrate. He would have been quiet compared to Miko, but he understood. Having all eyes on you can be stressful.
Optimus looked at Azura with a smile and kissed her head gently. She looked at him in surprise with a smile. "What was that for?"
"Do I need a reason to show my love for my daughter?" Optimus responded in amusement. She giggled as she guessed there was no real reason, and she hugged him back. "Now that there is no audience, you should feel better." Azura nodded as Optimus turned and walked away. He had spotted pond on a nearby cliff that seemed to be perfect for Azura to practice with. "Today we are going to simply focus on your control of ice, and how to spread it from your body without affecting your body like you had within Makeshift."
Azura nodded as she understood. "I hope I can do well…at least it is warm here, so hopefully I won't be affected by the cold that I create." Azura really was tired having to go back to the med bay so often. She wanted to give Ratchet a break from stressing over her. "I think that I can do it. I want to be able to create sculptures that glow in the sun."
"We will get to that point eventually, Azura. But focus on the basics first. Don't get ahead of yourself." Azura looked ahead and she saw the small pond that Optimus was bringing her to. He lowered her to the ground in front of the pond. "But before we begin, you are going to clear your mind from distractions."
Azura guessed he would request that of her. But she was perfectly fine with that. She closed her optics and took a deep intake before sitting down and crossing her legs. She concentrated her clearing her mind and focus on the nature and earth around. She felt a connection with nature unlike before now that she was concentrating. It felt as though a friend was taking her hand. She was able to visualize the pond, cliff, sky and ocean without seeing it.
In fact, they looked different. It seemed the world was sparkling around her. And as she was fascinated with what she was seeing, she was surprised when she saw in the distance a transparent shape of a celestial dragon flying among the clouds. Azura knew it was the dragon reaching out to encourage her. Even if they never officially speak again, she was reaching out. Or this was her inner self, whichever it was, she was super happy about it.
Azura opened her optics and she glanced down as she noticed the crystal glowing slightly. She did not know if Optimus had noticed, but she stood up from where she was sitting and stepped closer to the pond. It was as if she was in a trance at the moment as she lifts her hands slightly as she concentrated. Optimus watched Azura patiently, and be did notice that her crystal was glowing, and he did not say it as it would break her concentration.
As she lifted her hands, water raised from the pond it was round shape. Optimus smiled, and he waited to see if she would use her ice ability. Azura began to move the water around in a kind of dance before she would cause the water to burst suddenly and the droplets crystallize into icicles quickly. Azura smiled as she looked at what she had done. She was feeling more confident as she moved the icicles around playfully. The sunlight filtered through the icicles and created bursts of rainbow, which reflected from the pond.
After a few minutes, she concentrates and merged the icicles together into one, large icicle. "Very good. While you have control of ice like that, you should surround yourself with ice, but not let it touch your protoform. In doing so, you should not be affected by the chill of the ice."
Azura heard Optimus and she was not sure. But with the humidity of the air around her, the evaporating water she could feel would be what she would use to do what Optimus said. She intakes heavily again and concentrated, visualizing the exterior on her body and forcing on the tiny water molecules around her. She managed to put a pause on the evaporation process, and Optimus would soon see visible water droplets forming around Azura and he watched as they swirl around her body.
She smiled slightly as she could also feel the water around her. Moving the droplets close to her body, she could almost feel the dampness of the water droplets. Saphira kept her concentration as the water slowly began to freeze. She felt the air around her body cool down and the droplets crystallized around her, forming a somewhat oval shape around her body. Azura was pleased with this, but she still felt the chill. She shivered a little and she quickly shattered the ice, spreading the icicles away from her body.
Optimus hummed gently as he saw that Azura felt the cold, and he guessed she was just too susceptible to the icy temperatures. "You have done well, Azura. I can see you still feel the chill. That is okay, it will take time. But your body is very weak to the cold, so it might be years before you can achieve that. But I am impressed with the control you now have. I am curious, tour dreams must offer some great training opportunities for you."
Azura looked up at him in surprise. She had only mentioned she had seen the dragon, but nothing more. "Um…what makes you think that, daddy?"
Optimus let out a low chuckle at her surprise and curiosity. "It is not hard to guess, Azura. Dreams offer something that you cannot find. And that is more time, and connecting with a deeper part of yourself. Because of that, I do believe you have had unique dreams. Not just ones about the dragon."
Azura dropped the icicles on the ground, letting them melt under the heat of the sun. She guessed it was better to tell him the truth. "You are right…but…my dreams offered more than that. I met Primus…" Optimus's smile widened as he listened to her. "And your old mentor. Alpha Trion."
"Alpha Trion?" Optimus certainly was not expecting that, but he was aware that such a thing is possible. Then his expression softened as he realized that meant Alpha Trion was one with the All Spark. "At least I know what his fate was…but he was able to help you. I am glad that he could." Optimus smile returned to his face, and he looked down at Azura. "It must have been an honor to meet him. And I know he helped you a lot. You have already exceeded your training as far as I am concerned, and I believe the dragon helped you a lot too."
Azura was pleased that Optimus did not seem mad that she kept this from him. "Yeah…it was…it was like meeting my granddad. It was really nice…I learned a lot from him and Primus…but truthfully, I didn't understand their help until I met the dragon. I wish had known sooner…but there's not much I can do."
Optimus lowered one knee to the ground as he saw she seemed guilty about it. "Azura, you are still very young. There is so much for you to learn. It is only natural and normal for you to not understand. I am sure you might feel frustrated, being seventeen might seem like you should know more." She nodded as she really did feel that way. "But it is normal, Azura. You're still an infant, and things will not necessarily make sense to you. Do not be too hard on yourself."
Azura still felt bad she didn't understand what Primus and Alpha Trion had said to her at the time. But she was glad that Optimus was not holding it over her head. "I guess you are right…but it is still frustrating that…well…that I should understand things more. But…I'm getting used to the fact that I don't."
"I know." He leaned down to kiss her forehead gently, and Azura smiled at him. "But do not focus on the negatives. Keep practicing. You have done a marvellous job, Azura. It is already becoming easier for you to use your abilities. I believe you could even try fire."
Azura was actually happy with the idea. She wanted to practice using fire, but she turned from Optimus and took a deep intake, finding the same, deep connection she had with nature as before. It was a lot easier than she thought when she relaxed her mind and felt the connection. She looked at the water and thought about playing with the water, until she had an idea. She walked towards the pond, standing at the water and watched the ripples fade as she concentrated. She moved her foot out and Optimus was immediately worried, until he saw her foot press onto the surface of the water. He widened his optics as she moved her other foot and walked on top of the water.
Now this was something he had not expected at all. Optimus knew she had good control of water, but he had not expected her to be able to walk across it. He smiled guessing she was perhaps creating some kind of buoyancy to keep her above the surface of the water. It was creative, and Optimus relaxed while keeping a close eye on Azura. The pond itself wasn't too deep, but he knew she would be startled if she sank suddenly, and he would not want her to be afraid the water.
Azura stamped her feet on the water, giggling as the water rippled and splashed under her feet. She was very happy about the achievement, and she looked up at Optimus, seeing the smile on his face. He was proud of her, and Azura was very happy to see. She lifts her hands and focuses again before small sparks of flames burst from her fingers. She pulled her fingers away as she felt the heat of the fire, and she smiled. She moved the flames around carefully, jumping a little as she heard the hiss of the flames as moving them against the wind caused the flames to burn brighter. She wasn't entirely confident with fire yet, and keeping it small was something she wanted to make sure she was doing at the moment.
Azura continued move the small flames around until she merged them together into one big flame. She wanted to see if she had control of the strength of the flame, so she concentrated to make the flame hot. She watched as the fire began to turn from yellow to white, to blue. She felt the intensity of the heat as she strengthened the heat of the fire. She was pleased to know that, so she attempted to cool the flame down. It took a bit of time before the blue color faded back to yellow. She smiled as that meant she could at least control the heat of fire.
"That was so cool!" Azura jumped with a light yelp when she heard Miko's enthusiastic voice. This caused the fire to suddenly explode, and a small spark landed on Azura's wrist, which she shook off quickly and fell into the water. Miko grimaced, seeing the steam as the other sparks landed in the pond and Optimus was quick to pick Azura up before looking at her with a disappointed frown. "Oh…sorry…I probably should have kept my mouth shut."
Azura took deep intakes as she needed a moment and she looked at Miko with a frown. "How is it that you just happen to show up at such inconvenient times?" She shook her head in irritation. "I was just getting to know how to control fire!"
"I am sorry…I…I thought that would motivate you…"
"You were informed that Azura needed to concentrate, Miko," Optimus said bluntly as he rubbed Azura's back, sensing her frustration and distress. "Why did you not remain with the others? I see they are not present. You clearly managed to get away after a bit of time."
"I was kind of bored, honestly," Miko responded with a guilty expression, holding her hands together as she did not know how to respond to Optimus. "Um…but I really wanted to see her in action, because it's just…"
"You don't need to, Miko," Azura interrupts as she took deep intakes. "I was doing so good, and you interrupted me! I know I have to be able to control my ability even when someone screams at me. But it would be like if I was carrying a stack of plates…" Miko frowned a little as she thought the comparison was silly. "And I almost reached the counter, and then you come along and knock them all to the ground. That's how it feels like."
Miko did not say anything for a moment before she shrugged with a sigh. "I said I am sorry…I didn't mean for you to lose concentration like that…I was just excited. I'm sorry…I ruined it didn't I?"
"I am afraid so." Optimus took a deep intake as he thought on what to do now. He looked at Azura who was still frowning. "Would you like to do something else on the island while we are here, Azura?" She shrugged as she was not sure what to say in response. "Maybe we should see what the others are doing."
Azura wasn't sure if she wanted to at the moment. She hummed thoughtfully and looked at Optimus. "Actually…um…could we do something together without them? We haven't…had a chance…for a bit."
Optimus smiled as he heard her response and nodded. "Very well. If that is what you want, I will grant that." He looked down at Miko who had turned to walk away. "And Miko…" The girl jumped as she stopped in her tracks and looked back at the leader. "Please do not interrupt again. I understand your keen interest in Azura's abilities, but she needs concentration. Loud shouts of encouragement won't help her grow."
"I know…I-I am going to go and see how the giant sandcastle is going…" Miko grinned nervously as she points in the direction the others were before she ran away.
Azura was relieved as she was happy to be alone with her father. "I do enjoy training…but we don't always have much time to do things together, daddy." She looked at him with curious eyes. "What kind of things do sparklings do with their carriers and sires? I kind of want to play."
Optimus was happy to hear her ask the question. "You might be surprised to learn we do a lot of the same things as humans do on this world. Such as Hide and Seek." Azura's smile widened as she already liked the idea. "If you were bigger, wrestling would be safe to do so, along with lobbing and tag. Since you are small…we need to be…"
"Oh! I know!" Azura interrupts with a gasp. "Put me down, and I'll show you what we could do. How good is your drawing?"
"Drawing?" Optimus lowered Azura to the ground and smirked at her. "Now that is not fair, Azura. You are a lot more talented than I am with regards to drawing. But I can draw to an extent. What do you have in mind?"
Azura giggled a little and ran from him towards the beach. Optimus walked after her as he did not need to run after her. Before she reached the sand, she ran over to a nearby tree and jump to grab a branch, snapping it from the tree. She luckily did not fall from grabbing it and she ran onto the sand with a smile. She took a deep intake and looked at Optimus. She saw the curiosity in his eyes as he was curious about what she planned.
Azura chuckled softly and rests the branch on her shoulder. "This game isn't about how good you are able to draw. The basis of the game is to create an image based on a sentence. For example…" Azura lowered the branch to the sand. "I am going to draw a galloping herd of horses. And there should be a time limit, meaning it is just a rough drawing anyway."
Optimus watched as Azura quickly drew an image of the animal. He was not familiar with Earth's animals, but he knew enough that he could possibly draw some things from this world. It would not be perfect. But as he saw her drawing the animal, it looked kind of goofy. He has seen horses before, so this was a surprise to him. And he knew her talent, but he understood the game. It was a time limit, and she was drawing basic pictures.
She stepped back after drawing three horses in the sand. "So the game is a lot like that. There's not winning or losing, it is just a bit of fun. And to be honest, the drawings can sometimes get really funny. You can grab a branch for yourself."
Optimus hummed softly as turned and spotted a log among the trees. He walked over to it, picked it up and walked back over to Azura. "How long is the time limit?"
"One minute."
Optimus nodded as he understood. Azura wiped away the horses with her hand to make the sand clear again. "I guess this means you tell me what to draw, and then I'll tell you what to draw." She nodded and Optimus smiled as he understood. "Very well. This does seem like fun."
"Okay…" Azura giggled as she was very excited about it and thought about it for a moment. "I'll make it simple. Draw a car parked by a fire hydrant."
Optimus nodded and leaned down to start drawing. "And you can draw Ratchet working on the school science reports."
She snorted in amusement and nodded. "I see that still amuses you. Okay, you can start the timer and tell me when time is up. Go!"
Azura and Optimus were quick to draw what they had told each other. With the time limit given to them, the drawings did not turn out that great, but they both were already having a lot of fun. After the first few drawings, it changed into them trying to guess what the other was drawing in the sand, and that was even more hilarious to the two of them. Azura's laughter eventually brought the others over, and both Azura and Optimus invited them to join in. And they did, and Wheeljack ended up drawing some intriguing drawings that had most of them in fits of laughter. But the wrecker was drawing that deliberately so there was laughter. Despite having being distracted by Miko, Azura was happy about how the day was going so far.
