The Hub wasn't an ideal playground for youngsters, but Nosy had taken pains to educate its Flufflet on the various dangers lurking in Torchwood's underground base. After all, that was where both Fluffs spent most of their time, and the play area that had been set up when Nosy first arrived was as safe as anywhere in the Hub could be.
These days, however, Nosy had its own responsibilities, helping its teammates, running errands so its friends could concentrate on Important Things. That meant Dizzy, still being quite young and more interested in having fun than in helping out, sometimes got left to its own devices.
Having bonded with Owen and Tosh shortly after it was budded, its preference was to hang out with one or other of its humans, but today Tosh was out somewhere. That left only Owen for company, and he was down in his favourite place, playing with a dead thing.
Dizzy watched, curious. Owen had so many shiny toys! Swinging from the railing, the Flufflet reached for one.
Owen tapped its nose. "Don't touch that; it's sharp!"
"Hum?"
Picking up the shiny thing, Owen cut the dead thing.
"See? You could get hurt."
Lesson learned.
