Travelling the universe as earth's ambassadors to other worlds was a fascinating occupation. While Jack often seemed more interested in discovering new ways to flirt, Ianto enjoyed learning about new cultures. Both men relished the opportunity to sample the local foods and entertainments.
Their travels weren't without problems, however. While most races welcomed the arrival of delegates from a distant planet, eager to explore the possibility of potentially lucrative trade agreements and cultural exchanges, there were inevitably misunderstandings.
"Protocol demands all animals be muzzled," the official who met them at the spaceport said firmly. "Either that or your pet must remain in quarantine aboard your ship. It's for everyone's safety; such a vicious creature will surely alarm the citizens of Gnarthi."
"I hardly think it would be good form to muzzle a visiting alien dignitary," Ianto said stiffly. "And as for being vicious… our colleague is a strict vegetarian, so unless you fear for the safety of the local plant life, you have nothing to be concerned about. Perhaps it's you who should be muzzled, since your teeth are clearly far more formidable than our friend's."
Nosy looked mildly up at the official, radiating harmlessness.
"Perhaps a muzzle is unnecessary."
