"Firs' years over here." said a very large man. There were a small fleet of boats on the lock. Sirius, Severus Lily and Peter all went to the same boat and then the boats sailed to the other side.
The children walked up to the magnificent castle and headed inside. They then walked up to a woman with a stern look on her face.
"Now, when you enter these doors you will be sorted into one of these four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. During the year you can earn or lose points, and that determines on whether or not you break rules. At the end of the year the house with the most points will win the house cup." said the woman.
Sirius was a little nervous as everyone walked into the great hall. Then he noticed a hat on a stool. The hat then sang.(I am not very good at songwriting, so I will skip that part.)
The woman read from a scroll," Black, Sirius."
Sirius nervously walked up to the hat and it was placed on his head.
"Hello Mr. Black."
Sirius was confused as to who was talking, till he realized it was the hat, and no one was talking.
"So Mr. Black, you are exceedingly loyal to your family and friends, and you have only met your friends today. You are also extremely smart, courageous to no end, and you can be very ambitious. So Mr. Black, where do you truly want to go to?
'I'm not really sure.' Thought Sirius.'I mean, like you said, I am brave, loyal, smart, and ambitious. I just want to go to the house I will flourish best in.'
'Well in that case HUFFLEPUFF.'
Sirius was excited and happy walked to the Hufflepuff house table.
Lily was happy for Sirius, but she didn't have long to wait for her sorting.
"Evans, Lily." called the professor. Lily slowly walked up to the hat and it was placed on her head.
'Hello Mrs. Evans.'
'Who said that?' thought Lily.
'Why I am the sorting hat.'
'Cool,' though Lily.
'Now onto business. I see that you both extremely smart and brave, so Ravenclaw or Gryffindor.'
'I think my friend will go to Gryffindor, so there might work.' thought Lily.
"Gryffindor." yelled the hat. Lily went to the Gryffindor house table and sat down.
More and more people were sorted. A boy named Remus Lupin went to Gryffindor, James Potter also went to Gryffindor, and Peter went to Hufflepuff. Soon it was finally Severus's turn. He walked up to the hat and it was put on his head.
'Hello Mr. Snape.'
"Who said that." yelled Severus. Many students laughed as he blushed in embarrassment.
'Oh, no one was talking.' thought Severus.
'Yes, now let's take a look. You have friends in Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, but you are also very smart. Now here's the real question, what do you want?'
'I'm not really sure. I want to make my mom happy by going to Slytherin, but two of my friends are in Hufflepuff, and the girl I am in love with is in Gryffindor. Despite all of this, I kind of want a place where people don't make fun of me.' thought Severus.
"Ravenclaw." said the hat, and Severus went to the table.
The sorting soon came to an end and Dumbledore stood up.
"Another sorting over, and I have but two words to say, Tuck in." said Dumbledore.
