Blinking his eyes he quickly shuts them as his gaze meets bright white, covering his face he groans, the last thing he remembers was dueling a dark wizard he was personally needed to take down, being the head of auror's made him more of a desk worker, so he'll let himself off the hook for not dodging the diffindo, though he hopes Hermione doesn't bring him back to kill him again.
"Your thoughts always amuse me master" the soft voice reaches his ears.
Snapping his eyes open absentmindedly, noticing the brightness isn't so overwhelming anymore, he turns towards the one who spoke standing before his person, the angle making him realize he's lying prone on the cool 'ground'. Sitting up he almost groans as he sees he's naked again.
At least this time he's not greeted by Dumbledore.
Thinking about the last time he appeared at this…place that can only be called limbo. He wills himself to be clothed, dutifully ignoring the pulse of amusement from the being before him.
As the robes curl around his form he sighs before steeling himself he has not died, now three times, just to let the fact that he's dead bring him down.
Sure he'll miss everyone, but after hogwarts was rebuilt everyone had tried to stay in touch, sadly the attempts dwindled with everyone being so busy, with life after the war.
His relationship with Ginny deteriorating until they split, he was saddened that the Weasley's drifted away from him after the break up, but he understands that Ginny is their little girl, and sister, so he can't fault them for siding with her.
he was the one who ended the relationship not feeling the emotions or connection he had once before.
After waking from his second death and a few months after Voldemort's defeat he realized he was only pushing himself to love her so he could gain a family and he felt it wasn't fair towards them, the Weasley's.
"Death?…" Harry asks as a way to bring his thoughts away from the past, despite knowing who's in front of him.
"I am death, yes, and you are my Master" The entity states so simply.
'Master?' Not another dobby, though he better reign in his thoughts if the being can read his mind like the words they said indicates.
Feeling a foreign sense of amusement startles him, now that he can think clearer he feels a connection humming between the being and him.
Harry remembers vaguely about the beetle and the bard, but with all the action involving his life he can give himself some leniency for forgetting about that nor thinking it's anything credible, besides a fable.
But he's here and he's not in his mind. He doesn't have the train station as his foundation, that's one telling.
The other being that no one can fake the essence of death, at least his instincts tell him that.
"Dobby the elf who sacrificed himself for you, you wouldn't want another loyal companion like him, or perhaps even hedwig?"
'Another companion?" Dutifully ignoring the bait, he's not as tempered as his younger years. He wonders why the being even brought them up they're, hell He's dead, why would he need a companion? What does master of death mean?
"Master, what do you think it means?"
'Stop calling me master' he doesn't feel comfortable with being addressed by such an entity but not willing to be abrasive to the powerful being still cautious.
"Ma- Little one" the endearment coming from such an entity makes him feel mortified, but he can't help but feel a warmth spread throughout his soul at it all the same.
"You have a peculiar situation being my master" the being continues seeing that their master won't try to comprehend what is entailed for his predestined fate.
"You're in essence nothing and everything, you don't have to do anything or you can do anything. You're not bound by the mortal plane anymore, you little one are in essence my person, personified, or my extension in the physical realm, should you choose to enact it."
'He's nothing and everything, anyone and no one? Is that what death is? Everything and nothing?' Beginning and the end spiraled in a never ending cycle of balance.
"Exactly, and they say Hermione was the smart one" the flippant complement jars Harry who while has been given praise he knows most is because of his status, or former status.
The fact that the being knows Hermione-"death knows all" the being interrupts gently making him flush realizing he's been addressing the- Death so disrespectfully, if you can dehumanize a primordial entity.
"Always so thoughtful, my- Little one" Death reading his mind is something he's gonna have to get used to.
"Can I see my parents? Remus?…Sirius" he finishes meekly.
"If you chose to stay in my realm you'll be able to meet them again" before he can rejoice that the being continues "though Sirius is more difficult, seeing as he fell through the Veil" the casual mention of one of his greatest regrets causes a jolt to pierce his heart.
Death radiates mild regret, though he's not mad at the being. He's mad at himself, he wants to see Sirius again, he loves his parents, but he knows Sirius.
Remus he only really knew as a teacher.
He'd do anything to hear that barking laugh again.
"Anything?" Death asks, interrupting his thoughts.
"Even go to another world? A new universe? You could see Sirius again. He's still alive" That makes his heart beat fast.
"How!" He nearly shouts, but manages to contain it.
"Please he- it's Sirius" he feels tears gather as the desperation fills him.
He suddenly in a cold embrace, despite the coolness he feels his frantic thoughts drift as the dominating presence of Death engulfed him, he doesn't have the strength to feel embarrassed, nor react to the fact he's being cradled by Death.
"Little one, we are bound together, you are the reason I have such a humane consciousness, the feelings of humans are new to me, but I find myself not liking your tears. " The gentle voice invading his mind as the panic attack fades.
Pulling back Death speaks with a more cordial tone almost embarrassed like "Now, Sirius has been transplanted in a very particular realm. The amount of death is unusually drastic in this universe."
Harry isn't even gonna try and grasp the fact that there is more than his universe.
"This place, world of you will, that Sirius has landed himself in is so saturated with death that I can't track the man down, any further than the planet he is placed on, this very planet happens to be the home of a budding goddess, said goddess is reign over a vast amount of people whom they call Eldians, with the power she gained from a root from the Tree of life"
"Tree of life?"
'Sirius must have gotten some of his famous potter luck from spending so much time with potter men.' Harry can help but think cynically.
"The entity of life has taken the form of a Tree, the branches and roots of theirs spread throughout the whole existence of every universe that can possibly exist. When the little goddess was still human, she happened upon a root's opening while running from her master's men."
'Master's men?'
"yes, she was a slave and continued to be be a slave even after gaining her godhood from the tree itself"
"continued?"
"After obtaining the power of the Titans as they call it, the Goddess was 'granted the seed of Her master and King in return for her 'service' in using her newfound power in his name. Creating a massive empire under the name of Eldians, sadly before the powers of hers could fully integrate into her being she sacrificed herself for the king, after being treated like an object the king she saved then feed her to her children she bore for him"
"Merlin!" Cannibalism, Harry can fathom forcing children to eat their mother.
"Yes, after thirteen years the Goddess Yimir falls to a spear saving the king and after the three children finished eating their mother they each gained a portion of her power, thus making it a creed for them to bare as many children as possible while making his descendants eat eachother from then on the power of the titans was split into 9 different titans with the rest being mindless if turned."
'if turned?'
"What does this have to do with Sirius?"
"Your precious dog man is currently in one of the most deadly times for that realm, as the goddess is finally gonna start being what she was meant to be."
"If you want to see your dogfather, you're gonna have to step into the middle of a war, as my physical representation I have one task for you, should you decide to go."
"Balance, create some sense of balance, you're in a position where you can change the amount of deaths should you do it, but keep in mind that not everyone can be saved and if it's their time.."
"I know" and he does, he knows that you can't change what is written, but that doesn't mean it's gonna stop him from trying.
"Sounds to me that you've already made your decision"
"For Sirius anything" he means it too.
At those words he feels a familiar but more intense tugging sensation on his person as Death sends him off to the place Sirius is.
Feeling the apparition taking longer than usual he can't help but realize that he never asked where Sirius was or if he'll appear near him, nor does he have any knowledge on the place he's going other than a vague sense of insane history.
Sounds like Hogwarts all over again to be honest.
