"Why d'you have to do that?" Ianto asked, careful not to startle Jack, who was standing on the narrow wall that edged the office building's roof as a blustery wind whipped his coat around his legs.
"Why do I do what?" Jack turned to face his lover, hands in his trouser pockets.
"Stand right on the edge. It's not safe, especially on a windy day like this. You could be blown off before you even know what's happening!"
"I do it because it makes me feel alive, but there's no need to worry; I won't fall, not unless I want to."
Ianto opened his mouth to say something, but Jack cut him off.
"For the record, I don't want to, haven't done that on purpose in years. I've got too much to live for these days."
"I'm glad to hear it, but you standing up there makes me nervous. All it would take is one unexpected gust of wind…"
Jack laughed. "I'm not like you, Ianto."
"That's obvious. I don't take unnecessary risks."
"No, I mean fifty-first century reflexes are ten times faster than yours, and my sense of balance is better than a tightrope walker's." He shrugged. "Feline DNA."
