Kugo Ginjo is going through a difficult time. His face his now scarred after what happened to him at the chemical plant. What became of it was quite shocking. Ginjo went out of control and escaped from the hospital. Sandra feels horrified from what happened. She barely recognized him anymore.
"Sandra!" Ichigo called as he came running down the hall. "What the hell happened here?"
"It was unbelievable, Ichigo. Kugo's face... He..." Sandra could barely bring herself to say it, but Ichigo already knew there had to have been some damage done after what happened back at the chemical plant. "Kugo just freaked out and just escaped from the hospital like he was in prison. I hope he's okay."
"Whatever happened to him had to have been horrifying. He's probably scared himself." Ichigo said. "We'll just have to hope for the best and hope that the Ginjo we know is still in there." That's what he's hoping for, but it doesn't look good.
...
The Police Station
If Mugetsu is going to find Ginjo, he needs to know more about what's going on. He has a feeling that Ginjo might go after Kariya, but Kariya apparently disappeared again after what happened. He needs to find where Kariya is, so he went over to the police station for one of his meetings with Jushiro. Jushiro waited on the roof until Mugetsu landed down on the roof.
"Any word on Kariya?" Mugetsu questioned.
"Afraid not. He's keeping a low profile." Jushiro said. "By the way, have you heard about what happened to the guy you saved? He finally made a decent recovery only to have gone crazy and escaped from the hospital."
"That's why I'm here." Mugetsu said. "I'm a little worried Ginjo is going to do something crazy and might go after Kariya for revenge." Jushiro didn't like the sound of that.
"Unfortunately, our informant says he quits. There goes another one." Jushiro sighed. "Kariya certainly has earned his spot in one of our most wanted. He's got his hand in every kind of dirty job there is. He's a loan shark, arms dealer, and many other things. Anyone we could use to testify against him declines any offers. The men we capture say they would rather take the death penalty than go against him. Kariya really knows how to fly his way out of our grasp like a bat in the night. You really think this guy might go after him for revenge? He has no idea what he might be getting into if he does that."
"Another thing to worry about." Mugetsu said. Jushiro can't seem to help him, but Mugetsu needs to find Kariya if he's going to find Ginjo.
"What are you going to do?" Jushiro questioned. "You can't cover the entire city to find Kariya or this Kugo Ginjo."
"Not on foot, but I have other ways." Mugetsu said as he has his own way of getting around. He jumped right off the building and headed straight down until he reached a black car. A black car with special gadgets inside it. Even Mugetsu has his own personal car when he can't get around on foot that he likes to call...the Black Blade. Hopefully, he can use it to find Kariya before something happens to Kugo.
...
Kugo Ginjo
Ginjo wasn't doing that well. With his face being scarred and altered, he was filled with angry. Kariya revealed that Ginjo has some severe anger issues. It would seem that Ginjo is acting on that anger. He's completely changing how he looks and is building himself something. Kariya was the one who did this to him and he wants revenge for that. In fact, because of the damage his eyes took from his accident, he is literally seeing red.
"Jin Kariya... For too long, you've roamed these streets." Ginjo mumbled as he was giving himself a new look. "You've ruined lives, hurt people, and now you've done this to me. Those useless damn cops won't do anything about it. If they won't, I will." He kept monologuing like that as he was acting like he was vigilante now. "I will be your judge and jury, and I know you're already guilty. For that, I will be your executioner. I...am Executioner!" He declared as he was now wearing a skeletal-designed attire with long red fur collar and was now carrying a large crossword with a skull on it. He's out for justice against Kariya, but this could easily be mistaken as revenge.
...
The Streets
As for Kariya, he was just being driven around like he was casual and had nothing to worry about. The feeling of a man that thinks he can getaway with anything.
"Driver, let's just head home. I like to settle in for the night with a nice glass of wine." Kariya said. His driver was going to do that, but then he heard something from behind. He looked behind him and could see the Black Blade driving up behind him. "On second thought, you might want to pull over. This looks like it could be important." His driver did what he said and pulled off to the side with Mugetsu pulling over. As the driver stepped out, he did reach for his gun to be ready, but Mugetsu jumped out and kicked the driver down. "That's no way to say hello. I might have to file for assault." Kariya said as he came out.
"Don't patronize me. You can't scare me the way you scare others." Mugetsu said. "I'm not afraid to stand up against you."
"And just what exactly are you planning to do?" Kariya said. "Bring me to the police? Arrest me? It won't stand in court."
"Actually, I came after you before someone else did. I had a feeling that if I find you, I would find someone else I'm looking for." Mugetsu said. "I'm looking for Kugo Ginjo."
"Ginjo? What makes you think you would find him with me?" Kariya said.
"Because he's going to be out for revenge." Mugetsu claimed. "You don't seem to be aware of what really happened to him back at the chemical plant. His face has suffered from severe damage. I overheard you talk about his anger issues. He's going to come after you and want revenge."
"Am I suppose to be scared?" Kariya said.
"If his anger is as bad and uncontrollable as you say, what do you think he's going to do?" Mugetsu questioned.
"And what do you propose I do?" Kariya questioned.
"Turn yourself in for all of your crimes." Mugetsu said. "The city will be safer from you, you'll be protected, and Ginjo will be satisfied knowing you're behind bars and can't harm anyone."
"Interesting proposal, but prison clothes aren't really my style." Kariya said as he found amusement in this. Mugetsu wasn't having any of it as he grabbed Kariya by the shirt and pulled him in close.
"Is this some sort of game to you? You ruin lives for your own selfish benefit." Mugetsu said. "This offer will provide you protection. I'm offering you the chance to do the right thing in your miserable life."
"You're acting like I need it." Kariya said as he doesn't get scared as easily like Mugetsu. Two fearless figures are a bit of a standoff and it looks like neither will backdown from the other. "I'm aware of what people think of me, but so what? What's the worst Ginjo could do in the first place?" He got his answer when they both heard something smash against Kariya's car. They both looked and were met with the new Kugo Ginjo: Executioner.
"Jin Kariya... The time has come for you to answer for your crimes." Executioner said.
"Ginjo? Is that really you?" Mugetsu questioned.
"Kugo Ginjo is just another victim. I am the one who will bring about justice upon those Jin Kariya has hurt. The jury finds him guilty and the judge has issued his punishment is death. That's where I come in. I'm Executioner!" He went straight for the kill, but Mugetsu acted fast as he got in the way and tried to hold it back with his sword. He tried to hold him back, but Executioner's blade was heavy. "What are you doing?!"
"Ginjo, no! You can't just kill him out of rage and anger!" Mugetsu said. Executioner tried to press down, but he saw Kariya trying to make a run for it.
"Out of my way!" Executioner said as he pulled his sword back and kicked Mugetsu to get him out of the way. Executioner tried to go after him, but Mugetsu followed after him.
"Ginjo, no! You're not thinking clearly!" Mugetsu said as he swung his sword to try and stop him. Executioner deflect it and the two of them kept crossing weapons against each other. "You can't just kill him!"
"He must answer for what he did!" Executioner shouted. He deflected Mugetsu's sword and tried to spin kick him again, but Mugetsu was able to catch it and threw him to the ground.
"Kariya does need to answer for what he did, but not like this." Mugetsu said. "Don't stoop to his level. It will make you no better than him."
"So what?" Executioner said as he didn't seem to care. Mugetsu couldn't believe he was fighting his friend or what has become of him. Executioner took the chance as he tackled Mugetsu and smashed him through a store window. "Kariya must answer for what he did! Not just for me, but for others as well! No one will be shedding tears for him!" He claimed before he took off after Kariya. Mugetsu doesn't like this, but he's got to do something to stop him or else Executioner will actually kill someone and ruin whatever is left of his life.
...
Kariya
Kariya was trying to keep a low profile and let Mugetsu fight his battle for him. He ducked inside a building and kept himself hidden from Executioner. It has been rather quiet. A little too quiet for his liking. He tried to listen on what might be going on out there...only to have a blade nearly miss piercing his head. Executioner chopped away at the door until it was chopped down.
"You show your true colors you weak coward." Executioner claimed. "Face your atonement."
"You think I'm a coward? I just don't see why I should dirty my hands when Mugetsu clearly did the hard work for me." Kariya said. "You think I'm afraid of you? Do you have any idea how many people would like to kill me? You're just the only one who has the guts to go through with it. I was just being logical when I ran, but if you are so insistent on this..." He reached inside his coat and actually pulled out a rapier. "En guard!" He actually fought Executioner as he swung the rapier around and tried to land a strike. When Kariya went for a pierce, Executioner blocked it and moved the blade aside. Executioner tried swinging his blade down, but Kariya jumped back.
"Not bad, but how long do you think you can run from your atonement?" Executioner claimed.
"I'm not sure. What do you think will happen to you if the public learns about what's in that filed of yours I have, as well as this." Kariya said. "You could be declared criminally insane."
"Continue to talk and dig your own grave!" Executioner said as he tried to attack him again.
"No!" Mugetsu shouted as he jumped in. He tried getting Executioner in a headlock, but Executioner tried to fight him off.
"Well, it looks like I'm not really needed here." Kariya said as he tried saving his own skin again and ran off again.
"Get off!" Executioner called as he managed to toss Mugetsu off. He saw that Kariya was gone again and saw that Mugetsu was the one responsible for it. "Look at what you did! You're helping him escape!"
"I'm not helping him. I'm trying to stop you from making a big mistake that could ruin your life." Mugetsu said. "I know things look bad, but it's not the end. It will be if you continue with this."
"My life will be ruined because of Kariya." Executioner claimed.
"So be the one that stands against him." Mugetsu said. "Be willing to testify against him. You can help lock him away."
"No. Locking him away is not enough when he could get out." Executioner said.
"Ginjo, you're not well." Mugetsu said as he doesn't like the type of person that Ginjo is becoming. "Forget Kariya. You need to focus on yourself."
"Why do you insist on helping that bastard?" Executioner questioned.
"He is a cold bastard, but he doesn't deserve to die anymore than you do." Mugetsu claimed. "Ginjo, stop this now before it's too late. We need to get you help." He's trying to reason with Ginjo, but it's not going well. His uncontrollable anger just has him see tunnel vision.
"What I do see is that you are not doing what I thought you did. You and the police are too soft, but I'm not!" Executioner claimed as he went and attacked him again. He swung his giant blade right at him, but Mugetsu jumped out of the way with Executioner's blade slicing right through the wall. "I'll be the one who protects this city! I'll be the one who convicts the criminals and deal them their punishment! Kariya was really the only one that I was going to go after, but I now see you don't have the guts to do what must be done!"
"Ginjo, no!" Mugetsu called.
"I'm Executioner!" He claimed as he tried attacking him again, but Mugetsu jumped to the side with his giant sword smashing into the ground. Mugetsu took notice of the blade and saw the handle of the sword extends pass the guard. He used that to his advantage as he thrusted his own sword right through that hollow space and pierced the wall. As Executioner tried to pull his blade back up, he couldn't because Mugetsu's sword was holding it down. With his weapon pinned, Mugetsu drove his fist right into Executioner's face. Executioner screamed and tried to fight back as he tried to strike his fist, but Mugetsu dodged it. Mugetsu gave him another strike with Executioner's head hitting the wall and it knocked him out. Mugetsu hated that he had to do this, but Ginjo was out of control. Sadly, it looks like the Ginjo he knows might actually be gone. Once he managed to knock Executioner out, Mugetsu gave Jushiro a call and the police were taking him away.
"Nicely done as usual, Mugetsu." Jushiro said. Mugetsu hated to see his friend be taken away by the police, but he did what he had to do. Renji was there as well and hated that he had to put his friend in the back of a cop car, but this was just something that had to be done. "What happened to Kariya?"
"It looks like he managed to escape again." Mugetsu said.
"I see... Hopefully, we'll get him next time." Jushiro said, but this didn't seem good enough to Mugetsu. "I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision, but you made the right one. Mr. Ginjo was starting to get out of control and he needs help. Hopefully, Rukon can provide him with the help he needs."
"He wanted revenge... Thought it was justice..." Mugetsu claimed. "His anger clouded his judgement and now looks what it's done to him."
"He was angry, and we've been made aware his anger is hard for him to control." Jushiro said. "It's easy to get the two mixed up, especially when you're angry."
"It shouldn't be." Mugetsu said as he just turned away and just left the friend he once knew and could possibly be gone for good. Ginjo was angry and blamed Kariya for his life and face getting ruined. The line between justice and revenge can be pretty thin. That leaves one question on everyone's mind. What is Mugetsu going to do when he finds the person that killed his mother?
