Chapter 30: To New Beginnings
Back at the Montressor Spaceport, the R.L.S. Legacy arrived at the docks. Before landing, Captain Amelia alerted to authorities about the pirates and the mutiny. Once they've arrived, the authorities interviewed Jim, Rose, Delbert, and Amelia about everything.
Though they noticed Silver had already escaped, Jim and Rose decided not to inform them that they were the ones who let him go. Luckily for them, their stories managed to match Delbert and Amelia, and the pirates were led in chains to prison where they were to be housed for the rest of their lives.
It gave them time to send messages to Sarah Hawkins, Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow to inform them that they finally came back.
Captain Amelia was immediately rushed to the hospital to inspect her wounds, with Delbert accompanying her.
In the crowd, Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow were out in the port looking for Rose and the Captain. Then, they bumped into another human woman.
The woman was in her mid-thirties; she had fair skin, blue eyes, and her mid-length brown hair was tied in a bun underneath her yellow-brown sunhat tied with a baby blue ribbon. She wore a white shirt with long sleeves, a white poncho, a long baby blue skirt, around her neck was a bronze locket with a carved heart and held by a black chain, and brown boots. This was Jim's mother, Sarah Hawkins.
"Pardon us miss," Lorraine apologized. Then, she asked her, "we're looking for the R.L.S. Legacy, and I was wondering if you knew if it's around this area?"
"The R.L.S. Legacy?" Sarah asked. "That's where my son's at."
"Oh, what a coincidence! My Mistress and her adopted daughter are there," Lorraine replied.
"Maybe we can all look for them together?" Willow suggested.
"All right, then," agreed Sarah. "I do hope that we find them. I haven't seen my son in a long time."
"Let's get going," Hazel proposed.
The women and the girls arrived over at the docking area to find the R.L.S. Legacy intact. They bumped into a few passerby's and continued to look for Jim and Rose. Sarah began to grow hopeless, thinking she would never find her son.
Then, she felt a hand touch her shoulder. She turned around to find herself face-to-face with her son. Jim pulled his surprised mother into a hug. Sarah smiled, and hugged her son back, tightly.
Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow caught up to see Sarah and Jim hugging each other; they smiled watching the mother and son reunited again. Then, they noticed a familiar petite red-haired girl running towards them. "Lorraine! Hazel! Willow!" She called out to them.
"Rose!" The widow and her daughters beamed, and held their arms out. Rose jumped in and hugged her family/friends. Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow surrounded her in a group hug. Rose had never felt so happy to be reunited with the people she missed dearly since she left home.
After separating from their hug, Rose guided Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow to Jim as he and his mother, ended their own hug. The group smiled at each other, happy to have found the people they were looking for. Then, Morph appeared right in front of Jim, and floated in front of Sarah, and rubbed against her face.
Rose reached Jim, took his hand, and introduced him to the others. When Sarah, Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow saw Jim and Rose holding hands, they realized that they were now an official couple.
When they returned home, Jim and Rose showed Sarah, Lorraine, Hazel, and Willow the treasure they collected from the planet and received from Silver. The treasure Jim had was enough to cover the expenses of rebuilding the Benbow Inn.
Rose offered all of her treasure to her governess, but she politely declined, not wanting to accept it. The auburn-redhead insisted to take half of it, and Lorraine agreed. The girl saved up the treasure for buying gifts and donating to charity.
Rose began to attend therapy to overcome her fear of fire and depression. Slowly and surely over the months, the girl no longer panicked or had anxiety attacks when around fire. From that moment on, her life was no longer overshadowed by her fears and depression.
One year later…
Morph transformed himself into a pair of large, silver scissors, and cut a red ribbon in half. Sarah, B.E.N. (who had received a proper polished after returning to civilization), Captain Amelia, Rose, Lorraine, Hazel, Willow, Artemis, and the loyal customers of the old Benbow Inn were standing at the entrance of the new building in position for a picture.
Rose wore a simple, but beautiful silk light purple gown with a white V fabric on the length of her heart-shaped bodice, making it in the shape of a heart. Her sleeves were elbow-length with white frills of the end, and frilled cap sleeves on the shoulders. Her accessories consisted of pearl drop earrings, a pearl necklace, a light purple flower in her loose hair, her ruby ring, a gold bracelet with ruby gems on her left wrist, and lavender shoes with ¾ inch heels.
Artemis was perched on her mistress's shoulder, and prepared herself for a pose.
Sarah wore an elegant dress; the bodice was a dark periwinkle and her three-fourth quarter length sleeves with a light lavender. Her skirt was the regular shade of periwinkle with a dark hem, with brown heeled boots. She finished off her look with her chestnut hair pulled up in a high ponytail with curls hanging down the back of her neck.
Lorraine's dress was lovely, as well. Her bodice, with a V-neck, and sleeves were of light blue and teal. Her long skirt was dark teal and so were her shoes. Her black hair was curled with a silver hair clip with a tiny blue flower, and wore silver stud earrings, along with a silver flower brooch with a blue flower.
Hazel donned an off-the-shoulder green dress with long sleeves, a lighter green fabric that flowed down the skirt, and dark green heels. Her light brown hair was pulled into an updo and held by an emerald accessory, accompanied with gold dangling earrings and a dark green choker.
Willow wore a dark blue dress with a peplum, a sash wrapped around her waist, cap sleeves, and gloves all in the color of sky blue. She had her hair down with a little white flower, gold stud earrings, a necklace with a glowing blue crystal, and dark blue flats.
Delbert pressed the click button on the camera, and created a bright flash. Everyone cheered with joy as the new Benbow Inn was reopened for business.
The building was five stories tall: the main floor had the restaurant and kitchen. The second and third floors were the rooms for the guests. And the fourth and fifth were the main living quarters for Jim, Sarah, and their friends, whenever they came to visit.
Next to the building was a garden. It had a white gazebo, which Rose had help planted a few flowers, vegetables, herbs, and trees to give it a lovely and natural feeling.
Day turned into night, and lights were glowing from the inside the windows of the inn. The celebration continued inside with guests laughing and chatting with music playing in the background.
B.E.N. swung the door from the kitchen opened, wearing a chef's hat and balanced seven plates of sliced chocolate cake with vanilla for the frosting and filling for layers with his arms and compass. After getting cleaned up from the voyage, B.E.N. was offered a home and a job at the inn to help out Sarah.
The robot made his way around, giving each cake slice to the guests and Sarah.
The robot stopped by Delbert, Amelia, and Rose, who were standing lovingly together. The adults glanced down to four bundles of blankets (one blue and three pink) of their four newborn children.
Delbert held three girls, who resemble their mother, but had different hair colors. The blonde was Lilac, the brunette was Katniss, and the redhead was Jasmine. Amelia held a baby boy named Oliver.
After recovering from her injuries, Captain Amelia and Delbert began to court for a few months and got engaged. Their wedding was small (not very big) and had a few witnesses consisting of close friends and a few family members.
Thus, Rose had a new father figure in her family, and she was happy to see her little family grow. She grew more ecstatic when she found out that she was going to be a big sister!
B.E.N. cooed at Jasmine, making her smile.
Captain Amelia lifted a part of the blue blanket to kiss the side of her son's head. Little Oliver woke up with a yawn, and smiled.
At the entrance, the front door swung open to reveal two robot police officers. The same ones who apprehended Jim for flying his solar surfer through a restricted area before the adventure. Everyone turned their attention to them, went silent, and the music stopped.
Sarah grew a bit dismayed, believing that her son got into trouble again. But then, all the tension ended when the robot cops parted to reveal Jim at the doorway.
Jim had a new cadet's uniform in the color of cream with gold buttons, a red collar, and brown boots. His bangs were cut shorter to reveal more of his face. His rat tail was gone, as well.
Sarah smiled to see that her son was a new person, and had changed for the better. Everyone in the inn cheered with joy. The robot cop on the right saluted Jim, and the second on the left shook the boy's hand.
Morph flew over, transforming himself into a medal with a gold sun and silver star. He placed himself on Jim's coat, making the boy grin with delight.
Then, music began to play in an upbeat tune by Mrs. Dunwoodie, playing all kinds of instruments with her arms.
Two lines were formed, men on one side, and women on the other. Jim and Rose bowed and curtsied to each other. They wrap their arms together and began to dance though the line. The two smiled at each other as Jim twirled Rose around making her skirt spin with the movement.
Lorraine and Sarah went down next, and danced along with the rhythm. The two women have become friends due to similar situations.
Delbert and Amelia came next. The canine spun the feline around, before dipping her. They looked at each other lovingly.
As all the fun continued, Morph and Artemis were watching over the quadruplets as they slept together in one basket, with the blob looking at them with enlarged eyes.
Lilac and Katniss were sleeping soundly, while Jasmine smirked and pulled on Oliver's ear, yanking it hard. Oliver began to cry, waking up his sisters.
Morph chittered with concern for the baby boy, and had to find a way to calm him down. Artemis turned to a shade of blue, worried for Oliver.
The blob transformed himself into a blue and yellow baby rattle with dog bone's on and flies over to Oliver, before Jasmine could catch him and fell over. The rattle landed in Oliver's hand, and the boy began to shake it, laughing. The chameleon turned back to her original color and grew relieved.
In the crowd, a little boy and girl (resembling frogs) danced together. Hazel and Willow took each other's hands and spun around in the crowd, laughing as sisters would do.
B.E.N. removed his chef hat and began to dance the robot dance.
Jim and Rose stood by the window, clapping along with the music and dance. Sarah glanced back at her son and his girlfriend, happy and proud of them for finding their futures.
As the woman turned back to enjoy the party, Jim and Rose glanced back through the window to look up at the night sky. It was filled with stars, and the clouds were lavender and dark blue. The clouds were also formed into the shape of Silver and a golden light flashed from its right eye. Jim and Rose sensed it was a sign that he was watching over them.
Not far from the clouds were also the spirits of Mr. Arrow and Rose's parents, David and Margaret. They were all looking down from Heaven to see their daughter, and were very proud to see her grow from a shy and timid girl to a strong and brave young woman.
Jim and Rose looked at each other, and leaned in for another kiss. Not only was this a happy ending. It was a new beginning for them both, and they were simply meant to be.
