Jack was gone, off with his Doctor; after two days, the team had managed to determine that much. Tosh had cleaned up the CCTV footage from the Plas enough for them to make out the incongruous form of a blue police call box sitting on the invisible lift.

So their captain hadn't been abducted; he'd left voluntarily, but hadn't considered them important enough to say goodbye to. Would he ever come back? Would there still be a Torchwood and a team here if he did? He might not return for years, or even centuries.

Lying on the cot in Jack's quarters, long after the others had left for the night, Ianto let his mind wander, thinking of all the nights he'd spent there with Jack, the two of them squashed together in a bed barely big enough for one.

"Wherever you are, do we cross your mind at all?"

Chained in the Valliant's engine room, Jack closed his eyes and conjured up memories of the Hub and his team, a certain Welshman in particular. He wished the TARDIS had never arrived, or that he'd never left.

"I miss you. Do you ever think of me, or have you already forgotten?"
