Now story time.
On a Friday morning, down in the Command Lab, Henry and Kendall where standing on one side of the table, the remaining Rangers on the other side. A burned piece of equipment that was once the E-tracer was laying in the middle.
"So... Who broke it?" Henry said, with his arms crossed as he looked around the room at the others, "I'm not mad. I just wanna know."
"I-I did." Shelby began, raising her hand.
"No." Henry said without missing a beat as he shook his head, "No you didn't."
"It was Chase." Riley said, getting a 'dude, seriously' look from Chase, "It's true though."
"It was the only way!" Chase protested.
"Okay, Tyler." an annoyed Kendall said pointing to the young man in red, "What happened?"
"We're trying to find the gold Energem." Tyler said, "But we got attacked by Vivix's and Fury. In the confusion, he managed to steal it. So it was either destroy the E-tracer or let Fury get away with it. So we chose for Chase to destroy it."
"Okay." Kendall said as she started to look over the device, "Sounds like you made the right choice."
"Why wasn't I invited?" Henry said surprised, "I love doing stuff behind Kendall's back like that."
"It's Ms. Morgan... Where is the Ptera Charger?" Kendall said as she looked up but from the look of the Rangers, the worse had come to pass, "Where is it?"
"Fury managed to take it." Shelby admitted, hanging her head in shame, "And he has the location of the Ptera Zord."
Letting out a sigh of the deepest disappointed she said, "Even if he finds a Zord, that charger shouldn't have power left to activate it's battle mode. And they don't have the technology to charge it." she said before turning to the tall man standing next to her, "This is your fault, you know."
"My fault? How?" Henry said utterly confused, "I wasn't even there!"
"Well you should have been." Kendall said simply, "It's obviously they acted like this because of your influence."
The the short woman and the tall man walked away to an adjacent room as the two began to argue, obviously not wanting the other Rangers to hear them.
"Are mom and dad fighting?" Koda said to the other Rangers, "Again?"
"They are, Koda." Chase said, patting the broad shoulder of the caveman, "That they are." as the Rangers turned to leave the Command Lab.
Kendall had always been making snide remarks at Henry, but over the past few weeks it had turned to full on arguments, something he theorized was a way for her to blow off steam. It had only worsened since the first test run of the E-tracer, him saving her life and worst of all, him being right. Which would bruise the ego of someone as prideful as Kendall Morgan.
"...There is no you and I." Kendall protested, "There is a professional situation and I just need you..."
"See." Henry said smugly, "You need me."
"The team needs you." she corrected him, "Because your the one..."
"I'm the one?" he said satisfied before chuckling, "Your quite adorable when your flustered."
"I-I'm not flustered." Kendall said her cheeks becoming a nice pink tint, "More like nauseous."
With a smirk, Henry walked away. This had become his favorite way to end an argument with his co-worker, trying to make her flustered.
It was about the end of the work day, Henry was walking to his BMW. But before he could unlock it, he heard a loud screech that sounded that it should come from a prehistoric creature. Turning around his green eyes widen when he saw the Pterazord, raining purple lightning down on the city.
"How do you like this, Ranger?" Fury's voice said, "I have my own Megazord now!"
"Guys, we have a problem." Henry said, through his Communicator, "Fury found the Zord."
"We're on our way!" Tyler said from the other line.
"I'll buy you some time." Henry said, before Morphing into the Yellow Ranger and summoning his Zord.
A roar echoed through the skies, shaking the ground. Diving down from the dark clouds was the Yellow Dragonzord. Teleporting into the driving seat, the Dragonzord raised its legs as it crashes into the Pterazord, sending them crashing towards the ground.
The two flying Zords struggle in the air, the Pterazord attempting to strike with it's bladed wings but the left and right head of the Dragonzord managed to catch it one of them before the middle one opened its jaw and struck it with a blast yellow stream of energy.
As it stumbled to the ground below, the Pterazord managed to recover as it landed on top of a building.
Descending down from the skies, the Dragonzord landed on a building across from it.
The two Zords roared at each other with the Dragonzord opening it's wings before taking flight. Charging at it, the Pterazord glowed a golden light before transforming into it's Megazord mode.
The Megazord rained down lightning, the Dragonzord evade by doing a barrel roll as it continued it's charge. The Megazord leaps over him, before the it charged forward, it's arm blades clashing with the Dragonzord's wings.
Getting enraged, the Fury controlled Megazord immediately strikes with both his arms, slicing through the blast of yellow energy from its two heads, which the jaws of the left and right head trapping it.
The Megazord struggled with the Dragonzord, but with it's upgrade in power the Megazord managed to come out on top. Smashing it into the ground, it managed to grab the left and right head with its arm and pinning the middle head down with its feet.
The Ptera Megazord called down more purple lightning, electrocuting the Dragonzord as it struggled to break free. The Dragonzord fired of beams of energy wildly in the air, missing the Ptera Megazord by mere inches. But this gave the newly arrived Megazord, piloted by the other Power Rangers.
Being forced to let go of the Dragonzord, the Ptera Megazord was outmatched. It quickly transformed back into the Pterazord managing to evaded the laser beams and energy shorts from the other Zords as it made its escape.
Some time later, the Rangers where gathered at the Command Lab, sitting around the usual table. Keeper was standing close by while Kendall stood at her computer.
"Our Dino Chargers last so long." Tyler said as he looked at his own red one, "Why would Fury run out of power?"
"It could be that the ghost like being Fury is getting his energy from could be getting weak." Riley suggested, "If he does get it from there."
"But even a small amount of power in the Ptera Charger could do a lot of damage." Shelby said, "Bottom line, we've got to get that Ptera Charger back."
"I'm working on something." Kendall said with a sigh, "It's going to be a long weekend."
"Right, we'll leave you to do that." Henry said as he stood up. He and the other Rangers where about to leave, except for Koda who was about to go back to his cave.
They were about to enter the elevator when Henry told them to go ahead before turning around,
"Hey Keeper, you've been to space right? Been to a lot of planets."
"Indeed I have." Keeper said, "Why the sudden interest..."
"Yeah, yeah." Henry said quickly wanting to get to the point, "Have you ever been to a planet named Rannoch?"
"In fact I do. It's a beautiful planet located in the Perseus Veil." Keeper said and the tall human's green eyes widen, "It's home to a race named the Quarian's, a very mechanical inclined race..."
"Take me to it!" Henry suddenly shouted, placing his hands on the aliens shoulders, "Right now."
"But..." Keeper said a bit confused, "What about Earth?"
"Fuck Earth! I'm going to get myself a hot Quarian wife!" Henry said, throwing an arm around Keeper, "There is less gravity than on Earth, so I'll be like some superhero there. They'll probably think I'm some sort of god."
"Excluding your Ranger powers." Kendall said annoyed from her computer, "Your already basically a god on this planet with only your speed and reflexes.."
"Ah, Kendall. I'm flattered." Henry said with a smile, "But I'm human just like you. Just a bit extra."
"Yes, your a bit extra alright." Kendall said, shaking her head before she went back to work.
And so Friday passed, and before they knew it, Monday morning came way too early. Luckily for the Rangers, no other alien attack happened, neither did Fury used the Pterazord for another round of destruction.
"...And then she was yelling at me again. And just like the first time, I got a boner. Luckily, she didn't focus on my crotch area this time. Because even after like the fifth time, it's still as awkward as the first time." Henry said as he had two cups of coffee in his hands, "I mean, there is plenty wrong with me but how come Kendall Morgan get's this reaction from me? She basically bullies me and I get horny!"
"Sir..." a young man with curly hair said, a sketch book under his arm, "I'm just here to meet a friend."
Henry had been standing in front of the Dino Museum, he had been waiting for Kendall to arrive and while she usually showed up early, she was late for her.
"Right." Henry said, when he spotted a certain purple Audi parked in the parking lot in the same spot as when he left on Friday, "Good luck with that." before he set off into the Museum.
Stepping out of the elevator and into the Command Lab, he let out a sigh when he spotted what he was afraid of.
Sitting at her usual console, Kendall was resting her head on her folded arms as she was fast asleep, her purple glasses askew on her face. He couldn't help but smile at how peaceful she looked. Even he had to admit, she looked quite pretty when her face looked relaxed. Placing one of the cups down next to her, he moved to put a loose lock of her brown hair behind her ear.
"Kendall." Henry said softly as he shook her a bit.
"Henry." she muttered in a dreamy fashion, a small smile on her face.
"Okay, we are doing this the Henry way." he said before clearing he throat, "Wake the fuck up Kendall! We got a city to burn!"
The sudden increase of sound woke Kendall up, nearly falling out of her chair. But she was caught by Henry with one arm.
"Pleasant dreams?" Henry said with a cheeky grin.
"It was, until you woke me up." Kendall said as she was put on her feet.
"Yeah, yeah." Henry said, leaning against the table before moving the second cup towards her, "What have you been up to?"
"Destroying monsters is one thing, creating equipment is another." Kendall yawned, removing her glasses and shaking her, "But with Fury in charge of the Pterazord, you need a stronger mode in your Megazord.", she picked up the cup of coffee, gesturing him to follower her as she walked to one of her machines.
"Which is why, I developed these." Kendall said, pulling two new Dino Chargers from the machine, "This one activated Dino Steel mode, it will enhance your weapons. This one will activate Dino Drive Mode. They haven't been tested yet, but if they work they'll double your power."
"Kendall, come on." Henry said, "Your brilliant. I'm sure they will work."
"Yes, well... Dino Drive mode is only meant for in the Megazord. Not even you could handle it outside." Kendall said quickly changing the subject so she didn't have to respond to his compliment. Instead of saying anything, she took a sip from her coffee, "Did you put cream in this one?"
"Two creams, actually." Henry said, holding up two fingers, "That's how you always have it, right?"
"Just surprised you even knew that." Kendall said as she took another drink.
"I am very observant, Kendall... Wait, hold on..." Henry said when he noticed the clothes she was wearing, "Where you... Have you been working the entire weekend? You didn't even went home?"
"As I said, it takes time to create the equipment to destroy monsters." Kendall said, "Engineering, programming, testing. It takes a lot of time."
"...Okay. If anyone needs to get laid, it's you." Henry said shaking his head, "Or at least we need to get you a hobby."
"I don't need to get laid." Kendall protested, "And I'll have you known, I do have a hobby."
"And I seriously doubt that." Henry said as he was heading back to the elevator before turning around, "To both." as if to clarify.
It was later that day when the Ranger's had gotten a sudden call from Henry to meet him in the soon to be opened Treasures of Zandar exhibit.
"So, does Julian get a show?" Tyler asked as he and Shelby walked at the end of the group.
"No." Shelby said with a sigh, "That guy lives and breathes for his art. He just needs a break."
"Have you thought of entering into an art contest?" Tyler suggested, "Might be a good step."
"That's... a good idea." Shelby said with an appreciative smile, "Thanks Tyler."
They walked past a sign showing off a knight in shining armor, his hands held high as he held onto a shining stone.
"No way." Riley said impressed, "This exhibit has the stone of Zandar! How did Henry managed to get that."
"What's that?" Shelby said.
"Well, if you believe the legend. It all started when the knight, Sir Ivan, found the stone." Riley said, "Centuries ago in the year 1215 while Sir Ivan was escorting Prince Colin. Stopping for a drink of water. The knight came across the stone of Zandar, he was then attacked by a hooded monster. What then happened, nobody knows."
"Dude." Chase said impressed, "Knights are so awesome."
They turned around a corner to see Henry pacing in front of the glass display casing of the Stone of Zandar.
"Hey Henry." Koda said with a wave, "What's emergency."
"Guys, so good your here." Henry said, gesturing to the display behind him, "I was going over the exhibit, seeing if everything was correct. Then something happened with the Stone and I want to know if you guys can see it."
The other Rangers exchanged a look with each other before stepping closer. Once they did, the Energems around hanging around their necks began to glow in each of their respective colors as the Stone of Zandar gave a golden glow.
"Our Energems." Koda said, looking at his blue one, "What going on?"
"Okay, it's not just me then. Good. Thought I was going crazy for a moment." Henry said relieved, "So the only other possibility is..."
"That the Stone of Zandar is the golden Energem." Riley said.
Down in the Command Lab, Kendall was doing some test on the Stone of Zandar. Keeper was looking over her shoulder as the other Rangers where standing around.
"This is amazing." Kendall said when the test came back positive, "It's authentic." she had the biggest smile on her face as she took the Energem from the machine.
"Welcome back, my old friend." Keeper said to the Energem, "The Gold Energem is bonded to the spirit of the Pterodactyl."
"How did it end up in the treasures of Zandar?" Chase asked.
"Well, Zandar is located in Europe." Shelby said, drawing on her knowledge of dinosaurs, "Lots of pterodactyl fossils have been found there."
"If Fury where to get a hold on this." Kendall said indicating the Gold Energam, "He would have unlimited power over the Pterazord."
"Then we hide it, or..." Tyler said with a mischievous grin, "We can tell Fury exactly where it is."
"Tylar, my man." Henry said with a grin, "I like where this is going."
The very next day, it would be the grand opening of the Treasures of Zandar exhibit. Which would be used as a trap by the Rangers.
With Chase having overheard that Sledge's fiancé, Poisandra, or Pink One as Henry thought she was called, enjoyed watching BuzzBlast. So with a few placed fake news stories, they send out a report that the Prince of Zandar and his new bride, wearing the Stone of Zandar, would be attending.
"Now we hope Poisandra catches it." Riley said as he, Henry, Koda, Chase and Kendall where watching the news report.
"I'm sure it will be fine." Henry said just when he heard frustrated yelling coming from Koda's Cave, "Not so sure about this part of the plan."
Turning around, the group watched as Shelby, her dark hair up done nicely, wearing a pink princess dress, white gloves. A necklace with the Golden Energem in the middle was hanging from her neck, and she was wearing a pair of heels, which she clearly wasn't used to wear.
She clumsily walks over to them as she tried to keep her balance.
"Wow." Chase said impressed, "You look like..."
"Cotton candy!" Koda said happily.
Both Henry and Kendall had to hold back their laugh at the annoyed look Shelby was giving him.
"I can barely breathe. And my feet fell like they're getting chomped on by alligators!" Shelby said as she removed her high heels, "No way. I refuse to pretend to be a whiny, spoiled princess."
"Well, it sounds like you don't have to pretend." Chase joked.
In annoyance, Shelby threw one of her heels at Chase, much to the amusement of Henry, who had out his yellow smartphone as he took a picture of Shelby in a dress.
"What are you doing." Shelby demanded to know.
"No worries, Shelby." Henry said, not looking up from his phone, "Just putting this on my fridge, and maybe a mug, and maybe a shirt."
"Don't you dare, Henry Morgenstern!" Shelby said, threatinly holding up her remaining heel, "Well, enjoy the pictures because I'm taking it off."
"But Shelby, you have to." Koda said.
"Yeah, how else are we going to lure Fury." Riley said, "And get him close enough to get the Ptera Charger back."
"Alright, alright. I anticipated this." Henry said, placing the phone in his pocket and taking the heel from Chase, "I'll take one for the team and pretend to be the Princess." before walking forward to take the other one from Shelby.
"You can't be serious." Kendall said.
"Oh, I but I am." Henry said, using his free hand to gesture to his lower body, "I even shave my legs for it."
The elevator doors open, and out of it stepped Tyler, wearing a red military styled prince suit. His dark hair combed neatly over and a fake mustache on his upper lip.
"Awesome isn't it?" Tyler said with a smile.
"Well..." Shelby said suddenly, taking a hold of the heels so now she and Henry where holding them, "M-Maybe I should..."
"Oh, hell no." Henry said, not letting go of the heels, "Now I really want to be the princess."
"I think it's better I'll do it." Shelby said as the two began to tug the at the heels, "We need to get the Charger back."
"I'll have to agree with Shelby on this one." Kendall said with a frown, "Which isn't the most comforting feeling in the world."
Henry relented, throwing up his hands as he turned away, a smirk on his face.
"You know Shelby." Keeper said, suddenly appearing next to Henry, "A princess does not have to be spoiled. For one there is the Superius Empire, where the Princess and any of her female siblings are always raised to be warriors. Usually they become defenders of galaxies."
"And who doesn't love a Warrior Princess." Henry said, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"That's... True." Shelby said before she locked her arm with Tyler's.
"Ladies and gentlemen" Chase said, "The Prince and Princess of Zandar."
The two of them looked pleased as they looked at each other. Henry gave another smirk at this, something Kendall.
"You planned this, didn't you." Kendall said.
"Kendall, come on. I'm not that manipulative... My lawyer advices me to say no." Henry said gesturing over his shoulder, "My lawyer happens to be Koda." upon seeing this, the caveman gave two thumbs up and a big goofy smile.
The crowd had gathered, along with a bunch of reporters, outside of the museum as they awaited the visit of the Zandar Royals.
"Everyone in position?" Henry said through his phone as the black limousine, being driven by Kendall in a black driver suit, comes driving up. Getting confirmation of everyone, and Koda reporting of no sign of Fury, Henry watched Tyler and Shelby get out of the limousine before walking over the red carpet as flashes from the camera's went off.
When the reporters ask for a kiss, Shelby kisses Tyler on the cheek, both giving a sheepish grin.
"Yes." Henry said with an arm pump but Shelby suddenly decided to break script as she let Tyler to the side of the robed off area.
"This here is gorgeous." Shelby said in a posh accent, taking one of the drawings from the same curly haired young man Henry had been talking to a few days ago.
"Wait, that's Julian?" Henry said as he joined Kendall at the limousine, "Small world."
Helping her friend to some publicity, and with Fury no where in sight, Tyler and Shelby stepped up to the elevated stage in front of all of those in attended.
"What now?" Shelby whispered.
"Don't worry." Tyler said, taking out a piece of paper from his inside pocket, "Henry thought of this. He always has a plan."
Placing the paper down on the table, he cleared his throat before he began to speak while occasionally reading off the speech Henry had given him.
"Good morning esteemed citizens of Amber Beach. It's an honor to be standing up here today." Tyler said, "Blood alone moves the wheels of history! Have you ever asked yourselves in an hour of meditation, which everyone finds during the day, how long we have been striving for greatness? Not only the years we've been at war! The war of work! But from the moment as a child, when we realize that the world could be conquered. It has been a lifetime struggle A never ending fight, I say to you and you will understand that it is a privilege to fight! We are warriors! Citizens of Amber Beach, once more rise and be worthy of this historical hour!"
"Good grief..." Kendall said her brown eyes widening as she looked at the amused man, "What have you done?"
"What?" Henry said, "I based it on my Valedictorian speech."
"...Of everything you told me about yourself, that is the most unbelievable." Kendall said shaking her head, "You of all people being Valedictorian."
"What's so hard to believe about that!?" Henry said, "I can accomplish anything, if I'm sufficiently motivated."
Just as the crowd broke out in screams of terror as Fury decided to crash the party. From his spot he saw the lion Alien take the Golden Energem by ripping it off Shelby's neck, before quickly summoning the Pterazord.
Teleporting into it as quickly as he could, he placed the Energem into the Zord.
"Three, two, one." Kendall said as she looked on her watch and right on que, an explosion erupted form the Pterazord and Fury was flung out as he had placed the Fake Energem inside the Zord.
"I love it when a plan comes together." Henry said, taking out his Morpher, "Well got to go, there is work to be done."
Fury soared through the air and came down hard into the rocky ground of a quarry. Upgraded mooks, named Spikeballs, came to his aid. Helping their general up, Fury angrily shook them off as the Rangers arrived.
"Looking for this?" Fury said, holding up the Ptera Charger, "Your little charade nearly paid off."
A yellow blur streaked past Fury, and suddenly Henry stood at the Ranger's side, holding up the Ptera Charger.
"Nice, Henry." Tyler said as his friend flipped the Ptera charger in the air as if it was a coin before catching it.
"You'll pay for that!" Fury roared in anger, "I will rip your heart out and eat it, Yellow Ranger!"
"That would be problematic." Henry said, "Because I don't have one."
Morphing into their Ranger forms, the Rangers activated their upgraded form called Dino Steel, giving each a new weapon and steel plating on their right arm. Yellow Ranger turned into the a dragon shaped shotgun themed after his Zord, the barrel combining into three dragon heads.
"Oh, I like this." Yellow Ranger said as he admired his weapon, sounding like Christmas had come early that year.
Fury summoned a group of Vivix to come to his aid as the two sides charged at each other.
Yellow Ranger zipped in a blur of yellow around the battlefield, blasting random Vivix with his Draco Gun with explosion's of energy from the barrel. Red Ranger get some of Vivix with his T-Rex Smasher and kicks until he rolls out of the way to evade a strike from Fury.
Blue Ranger used the Stego Shield, slamming it through two Vivix before going for a shield bash against a third. The Vivix raises its arms in protection, but it is still sent flying and splattered into the ground.
As the Pink Ranger landed from a drop kick, two Spikeballs try to attack her from behind, but Yellow Ranger blasted them with his Draco Gun.
"Thanks, Henry." Pink Ranger said, giving her friend a thumbs up before drilling through a Vivix.
Red Ranger duels with Fury again, but the alien managed to block and shut aside the hits with the T-Rex Smasher. Just before Fury could lend a hit against Red Ranger, a blast of yellow hit the alien in the chest and send him flying back.
"Henry, I got an idea!" Red Ranger said, giving him the T-Rex Smasher.
The mouth opened up as it combined with the Draco Gun, forming a short of muzzle around the barrel of the gun.
Fury recovered, in is anger he channeled lightning into his sword before launching it towards the Rangers. "Double Blast!" Red and Yellow Ranger said as the Draco Smasher Gun unleashed a stream of red and yellow energy.
The two attacks collided mid-air, pushing and pulling at each other for dominance, but eventually the red and yellow pushed through creating a large explosion with Fury caught in the middle.
When the smoke clears, Fury was laying on his back, clearly defeated.
But before the two Rangers could finish him, the golden light erupted from Fury's chest as he roared in pain. The alien struggled to remain in control, as more and more of the energy escaped from his body as it began to take the shape of a human.
Yellow Ranger was about to go in to secure the kill when he noticed the Red Ranger hesitate.
"You will not escape me!" Fury roared as he forced the being back into his body, causing an erupting from his body send the two Rangers flying back and buying him enough time to escape.
At the end of the day, the Rangers working in the Dino Café where busy cleaning up. All except Tyler, who had been missing ever since the fight against Fury. But it was on one of the many famous beaches in Amber Beach, that Tyler was sitting in the sand as he stared at the photo in his hand.
It was of him back when he was a kid, along with James Navarro, back when they went on an expedition.
He was so lost in thought that he didn't noticed someone sitting down next to him, and only noticed when his name was called.
"Here you are." Henry said as he offered him a beer, "Been looking for you."
"I'm surprised it took you so long." Tyler said as he accepted the bottle.
"Oh, no. It was quite easy to find you." Henry said, "Just thought you needed some space."
The two sat they looked out towards the ocean, drinking their beer as the only sounds where the people on the beach and the waves breaking down on shore.
"Have I uh, have I ever told you the scariest memory I have of my dad." Henry said, breaking the silence, "I was six maybe seven years old. I was home with my mom and sister. I don't remember why but my mom had this strange demeanor about her. Like she was deadly afraid but remained strong for us, so we wouldn't worry."
"Then she got a call and we went to the hospital and... There in the bed, hooked up on all sorts of machinery, was my dad. Beaten to an inch of his life... I always thought my dad was invincible, I have seen him come home with bruises but nothing like that."
"My mom went into the hall to talk with Tommy, he's a family friend. I couldn't hear what they where saying. But all I remember was that my mother, the strongest woman I know, she finally broke down in tears. And even at my young age, I realized what that could mean and I have never been as scared since then. I was scared that I would lose my dad."
"He eventually recovered, but I have never seen him hurt like that again." Henry said, as he began to peel the label of his bottle, "What I'm trying to say is... I kind of get where your coming from. If there was even a one percent chance that it was my dad trapped inside Fury... I wouldn't have done it either."
"I didn't know about that." Tyler said, "Thank you for sharing this with me."
"Anytime T." Henry said as the two fist bumped, "And don't worry, with a scientist as brilliant and beautiful as Kendall, we will have a way to separate it from Fury in no time."
"Yeah..." Tyler said gratefully before he realized something, "Wait a minute, did you just call Ms. Morgan beautiful?"
A small silence formed between the two as Henry's eyes widen as he realized what he had let slip. With a deep sigh he looked over the ocean, "Tyler, I can't have people know I said that. I'll have to kill you." Henry said as he stood up and gestured to his car, "Get into the trunk."
"No need for what." Tyler said quickly, "Your secret is save with me."
And the two friends shared a laugh as they turned to look at the ocean.
