Chapter 5: Surprising Allies Part Two
Sebastian and Marcus walked into the Lookout but bumped into Nicholas and Veronica. "Marcus, good to see you, and Sebastian?" She said confused. "Hey," they both said and tried to walk away.
"Why are you here Sebastian, should you be at work?" She asked confused. "I quit," He said and tried to walk away again. "What do you mean you quit, you can't just quit," She said with growing frustration.
"You weren't there, you didn't know what it was like," He stated with a sigh. "Oh please, he had it coming after what he did," she said with a scoff. "That was not what I was talking about but I suggest you keep his name out of your mouth, you just how much he means to everyone," Sebastian tells her with a growl.
"Not here, not now, I don't know what happened but with you but be careful," Nichalolas said and walked off with Veronica. "That was not the conversation I wanted to have today," Sebastian said with a sigh and walked off with Marcus.
Little did they know Margareth and Gabriel saw what happened. "Now that was weird, I have never seen Sebastian before today so how would Mom and Dad know him?" Margareth wondered aloud. "I feel like we are missing something important," Gabriel said.
"Yeah, first I know nothing about Marcus and now Mom and Dad get mad at the new pup, this just doesn't add up," Margareth said trying to solve the puzzle without all the pieces. "no use overthinking it, we just don't have enough information to solve anything yet," Gabriel tells her with a reassuring smile.
"Yeah, you're probably right but I won't stop until I figure this out, this has been driving me crazy," Margareth said defeated. "Just don't drive yourself to insanity, none of us want to see you like that," Gabriel said with a smile.
"What, are you telling me you wouldn't like me when I am crazy?" She asked in an innocent voice. "N-no, I-I Me-ean T-th-hat yo-ou," Gabriel tries to say while stuttering and blushing. "Relax, I am just messing with," Margareth said with a giggle.
Marshall, Austin, and Chase were at the top of the Lookout looking for Ryder who was sitting on his chair. "Hey Ryder, can me, Chase, and Austin go to the park?" Marshall asked with a smile while wagging his tail. "Ah, Austin, sorry I didn't get a chance to greet you, It's great to have you back even for only a day," Ryder said with a smile.
"It is great to be back," He tells him with a smile. "And as for your question Marshall, sure, go have fun, you guys," Ryder said with a smile. All three pups howl and run to the slide and slide down it.
The elevator dings and out walks Marcus and Sebastian. "How are you two doing?" Ryder asked. "Pretty good but I think Sebastian has something to tell you," Marcus said with a serious face,
"Yeah, I thought you should know who I work for, or at least used to work for," Sebastian said. "Canine Global Security Watch Force, would I be right," Ryder said with little emotion. Sebastian and Marcus were shocked at that.
"How did you know that?" Sebastian asked with a surprised look. "A few days ago a man, well I think he was a man but I am having second thoughts about that, he seems so unreal but that is not the point, he told me about how you would come looking for a job so I knew who you work for the moment you asked for a job," Ryder said with a serious look.
"Then why would you let me in?" Sebastian asked. "A few reasons, one, Marcus is a part of that organization, if he can vouch for you are fine as long as I see your resignation papers, got it," Ryder said with a serious face.
"Got it, but what about the other reasons," Sebastian asked. "The man, or something else, he had a good point, plus I think he has the right intentions," Ryder tells him. "Now, I have to ask Marcus, do you vouch for Sebastian?" Ryder asked Marcus.
"Yes I do," Marcus said with a serious face. "Then you are free to stay but I do need resignation papers as soon as possible," Ryder said ending with a smile. "Now go make friends with the pups, no need to hold back," Ryder said with a smile and they nodded. They both went down the elevator.
"Now who's ready to dance!" Skye yelled. They set up the game with four mats for four players. "I really hope you guys are not as competitive as Margareth because I am tired of losing to try hards," Mariana said with a smile.
"Just Skye, She loves to show off, I wish we could just play for fun," Everest said with a sigh. "Hay! Zuma is just as competitive as I am," Skye said deafening herself. "Come on cuz, you can go easily can't you?" Coral asked.
"Uh, fine, I will go easy on you guys just this once," Skye sighed with annoyance. "Yay!" All the other girls yelled. Skye started up the console and it started playing its signature theme. Mariana, Everest, Coral, and Skye were on the mats and silly cartoonish versions of themselves popped up.
It started slow while slowly getting faster. "Now this is fun, I wish Mom would get this for our house," Mariana said with a smile while dancing. Margareth and Gabriel walked in while they were dancing.
"Looks like you are having fun sis," Margareth tells Mariana. "Yeah, lots," Mariana said with a smile. "Do you guys want to play the next round, I am waiting for my turn," Liberty said with a smile.
"That sounds nice, do you want Gabriel," Margareth asked with a grin. "I would love to," He tells her with a smile. The elevator rang as Marshall, Chase, and Austin came running out with a lot of speed. "Watch out you gu-" Margareth tried to say but Inevitably tripped on something.
"WOAAAAH," Marshall said rolling straight into Margareth and Gabriel. They all fell into a pup pile. Marshall pops his head with a small smile. "Somethings never change," Austin said with a smile.
"I'll die before I change," Marshall yelled out with a giggle. Most pups in the room laugh at Marshall's antics. "I am glad nothing changed but please don't roll into me next," Mariana said with a laugh.
"No promises but we're off, see you guys later," Marshall said. "Well, make sure he doesn't get into trouble you guys," Margareth said to Chase and Austin. "I don't get into trouble," Marshall whined. "No, the trouble follows you," Margareth said with a giggle followed by laughter from the other pups.
"On whatever," Marshall said and giggled. They left with big smiles on their faces. 'I am glad he is happy now,' Margareth thought with a smile. The first round of pup-pup-boogie with Skye won with a landslide.
"What happened to going easy?" Coral asked with a frown. "Sorry but I like winning," Skye said with a sorry smile. "Okay, now step aside and let other pups play too, besides I have been itching to play," Margareth said with a smile.
Margareth, Gabriel, Liberty, and Zuma were now playing. "Get ready to lose you guys," Zuma said with a competitive smile. "I am gonna warn you, Zuma, I have been practicing and will not go down without a fight," Margareth said, equally as competitive.
"Well, it looks like it is gonna be hard to keep up," Gabriel said with a sigh as the game kicked back up. Around halfway through the game Sebastian and Marcus walk in. They see the game going.
"What is that?" Sebastian asked a a gasp was heard from Skye. "You don't know what pup-pup-boogie is?!" Skye said surprised. "No, what is it?" Sebastian asked. "It is a game Skye and Zuma are obsessed with, you basically dance," Marcus said with a sigh.
"It is more than just a game about dancing, you learn paw-eye coordination to the beat of the song, it is the best!" Skye said with excitement. "It is a really competitive game for Skye and Zuma since they both have tied since the last time I remember, it is really becoming a problem," Rocky said while fiddling with a Rubik's Cube.
"It is not a problem, it is a challenge," Skye said with a smirk. "Call it whatever you want but is going to drive you to insanity until the tie is broken which, with the odds we have now is not very high," Rocky said with a smile as he finished the Rubik's Cube.
"Whatever Rocky," Skye said as the Game finished with Zuma barely winning. "Yeah, take that Margareth!" Zume gloated. "Yeah, glot now but watch out, I might bite," Margareth joked trying to scare him.
"Are you joking?" Zuma asked with a bit of fear. "There is a reason Margareth is not deafened often, you don't want the consequences that come with it," Mariana said in the most serious voice she could while trying not to laugh. That seemed to do the trick.
"Ah!" Zuma said and ran with Margareth close behind while the others laughed. "Is she reeling going to bite?" Rocky asked with concern for Zuma. "Probably not but she will probably do something worse," Mariana said with a laugh.
"Like what?" Rocky asked Now seriously scared of her. "Probably something embarrassing," She said with a smile. "Well, no matter what she does I doubt Zume will come back with a smile," She said with a giggle.
"I would have to be on her bad side," Gabriel said with a shiver. "I doubt you need to worry about that, she seems to like you like you more than most pups," Mariana said with a knowing smile.
Gabriel blushes at her comment. "She likes everybody, not just me," Gabriel said trying to forget what she said. "You can yourself whatever you want but just know you can only find the truth if you are willing to look for it," Mariana tells him.
"Okay, let's start the next round!" Skye said with excitement. "Well, I guess I can give it a try," Sebastian said with a smile. Skye, Sebastian, Rubble, and Rocky were now on the dance floor.
The game started up as they started dancing with Sebastian struggling. Gabriel walked out of the Lookout. Gabriel just sat on the grass, enjoying the small stuff. 'Only live once, do stupid things, whoever Marshall was friends with sounds great,' Gabriel thought.
'I wonder where Zuma and Margareth ran off to,' he thought. Gabriel looked at the woods. 'Maybe a walk will get my mind off things,' he said and walked into the woods.
With Marshall and others. They were running around the park with smiles playing tag. Austin was it. Austin was chasing Marshall, neck and neck. "You can't catch me Austin," Marshall said taunting him.
"Yes I can," Austin said with a smile. Chase watches with a smile on the top of the playground. "You can do it Austin, you would be the first without Marshall tripping," Chase said Encouraging him.
Austin, with a last effort, jumps at him and tackles him to the ground. Austin taps his nose with his. "Got you," Austin said with a laugh. They both started to laugh. "Yeah you did," Marshall said with a smile.
Chase jumped down from the playground and walked over to the two Dalmatians. "I missed this, have you thought of coming back?" Chase asked him. Austin smiled. "I want to but would I be any use, would Ryder even want me back?" Austin said with a sigh.
"Of course, he would want you back! Ryder has missed you, it was never the same when you left, just think about it okay?" Chase asked him with a small smile. "I want to come back, really but I just don't have the same drive you and Chase have, I just, I just need to think," Austin tells him.
"Let's stay in the moment, no need to worry about the future now," Marshall said with a grin. "Besides, there is plenty of fun to be had now," Marshall said. "When you put it like that I feel like there is nothing to worry about," Austin said with a small smile.
"Because there is nothing to worry about, no matter what happens, nothing will change much, now come on, tag, you're it," Marshall said and tagged Austin and ran off. "Hey! No fair!" Austin said and ran off after him with Chase laughing.
Meanwhile, Gabriel was strolling through the woods with a smile. 'It is always nice to go for a walk' Gabriel thought. He was humming to himself, unaware of the men tailing. Three men with leather jackets with a weird patch had their guns pointed at him.
A man with a sniper in the tree was about to pull the trigger. "GABRIEL, WATCH OUT!" a pup yelled and Gabriel popped out of fear. He took his shot, but it came out with little to no sound because of the suppressor.
The bullet hit a black cloak, Gabriel saw the three men and ran. The pup that yelled was Marcus with his fangs showing as Gabriel ran past him. The three men then pointed their guns at Marcus.
A shadow jumped right infront of them. "Go after Gabriel, make sure he is okay, I got these guys," the man that was the cloaked man that Ryder met was now uncloaked, facing his new targets.
"Are you sure?" Marcus asked. "I got this now go before something happens to him," The man said. Marcus nodded and ran off after him.
"Now if it isn't Antonio's pride and joy, do have any idea what you are doing?" one of the men asked. "A better question would be who you are, not many know who I am and if they did they would be six feet under," The man said with a grin.
"You have no idea of how much it cost us to find out about you and that stupid pup, but now that we meet in person I can see just how powerful you are, GET THEM BOY'S!" He yelled and the other two men rushed him.
They shot him with all the bullets they could while he grabbed one of his two katana. He rushed with an Immense speed and cut one of the men in half. The other guy ran out of bullets grabbed a Machete and tried to cut him down. The man sliced straight through his sword and cut him in half too.
"Got anything else," asked. The last man laughed. "I expect nothing less from the one and only Spyro the Dragon," He tells him with a smirk.
The cloaked man was Spyro. He had a dragon-like human form or Anthro. He was mostly dark purple besides from his horns, wings, belly, tip of his tail, Claws, and feet. His belly was yellowish peach color. His horns are gold and so is his tail tip. The tip of his claws and feet are black. He had a Goatee on the underside of his Muzzle. He was Muscular in his arms, legs, belly, and fists.
"Well, you have certainly done your homework but how the hell do you know who I am, I am a close-guarded secret," Spyro tells him with a frustrated look. "I have a way around but I think our time has run short, the pup should be dead by now, I just need to make sure you didn't get in the way." The man said with a smile. His swings are gold. His eyes are yellow.
Spyro could hear the roaring sound of motorcycles. "I won't let you get away so easy," Spyro said right when the motorcycle pulled up with four other men. "I really do wish we had longer but I finished my job so I have to be going, I hope we will have the pleasure of meeting again but for now I leave you with a pardon gift of death," He said and took one of the bikes and rode off leaving the four men.
The four men had shotguns. 'Well, this is certainly a pickle,' he thought to himself. Spyro held up his sword with confidence. "Come a me if you dare," He taunted them. That angered the men and the first shot was fired.
Spyro jumped up to a tree, leaving the men's site of vision. He jumps from tree to tree as they recklessly fired at him, once they are out of ammo he strikes. He jumped out with a spin, cutting one of their heads clean off. Has he lands he jumps in the air with his wings unfolding.
He grabbed one of the tools on his belt, a grappling hook, and shot at one of the men. He used it to accelerate his speed and strike, also cutting his head off. The last two men fished reloading at started shooting at him. He quickly dodged as he started and ran to a tree and jumped up.
They started to be more cautious, staring at the trees, from the bushes leaped out a Doberman pup, striking one of the men down. The other man looked at the pup as Spyro jumped out again and removed his head. The head rolled to the ground to the Doberman pup.
"You don't have to kill everyone you," The Doberman said. "These people asked for it, but who in their right mind would take on a dragon willingly?" He asked himself. "What do you mean by that?" The pup asked.
"They knew who I was and what I was, and he was after Gabriel, this is quite the mystery, Rodrigo," Spyro tells Rodrigo.
Rodrigo was a Doberman and Dalmatian. "How is that even possible, Gabriel and you are a closer guarded secret, no one besides someone inside would know about that," Rodrigo said surprised.
"Two things could have happened, one, you guys have a traitor in your Mists or guys had an information leak," Spyro said with a sigh. "But no matter what happened it ain't the problem right now, Gabriel is our top priority," Spyro said but his phone started to ring. The caller ID was unknown to Spyro
He picked it up. "Hello, who might this be?" He asked. He listened to the caller and a smile formed on his face. "I will be over to pick you up in an hour, see you soon," He said and hung up.
"Someone looks happy," Rodrigo teased. "Oh, shut it Rod, but yes, I need to get going, hope you can handle the rest," Spyro said. "You did most of the heavy lifting so I think I can handle the rest, take care, brother," Rodrigo tells him with a smile.
"I always do," Spyro tells him with a smile. "And thanks, about earlier," He said with a shy smile.
Sometime ago Rodrigo was sitting in an infirmary with bandages all over his head from Hunter's attack earlier. He was sitting alone in the room, with no friends to talk to. 'I thought at least Dad would stop by' he thought himself with sorrow. He sighed from the pain and sadness.
But to his surprise, the cloaked Spyro walked through the door. "Hey kid, you doing okay?" he asked him. "Take a guess," Rodrigo said snarkily. Spyro laughed at that. "You are still the same kid as when I left, but seriously, do you think you did the right thing?" Spyro asked.
"I was following orders, that is what's important," Rodrigo said. "That is not what I asked, do you think that these orders of yours were the right thing to do?" Spyro asked. "They were no different than any other orders," He said with no emotion.
"You don't have to follow every order, some orders will ask you to give up your morals, now again, do you think following those orders was the right way to do things," Spyro persisted. Rodrigo started to form tears.
"NO, but what else could I have done!" Rodrigo snapped. "My father gave me those orders, how can he love me if I don't trust his orders!" He yelled and let his tears stream down. Spyro kneeled down and hugged him.
They stayed like that for a minute when Rodrigo was able to form words again. "What can I do?" He said with a few tears still streaming down his cheeks. "You never do that again, get back up and follow your heart, not orders, trust yourself and everything will be okay," Spyro tells him with a warm smile.
"But what about Dad, I can't just ignore his orders," Rodrigo said. "Your father i tough, he has to be but right now he is too focused on the future to see how everyone is doing, he will come in time," Spyro tells him.
"Just do what you feel is right, follow your heart and nothing can go wrong," He tells him and gets up. "I do need to get going though, I can't miss teasing Father," Spyro said with a laugh and Rodrigo laughed too.
Back with the present, Spyro smiled. "Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes, even me," Spyro tells him. Spyro walked over to one of the men, pulled out a knife, and cut out the symbol on his jacket. It was a red skull with a gun and sword cross.
"I am taking this, I am sure Canine Global Security Watch Force can handle the rest," Spyro said. "Take whatever the hell you want, it is all yours, I will ask Antonio about this," Rodrigo said with a grin.
"See ya later Rod," He said dashed off somewhere. Rodrigo watches as he dashes off into the unknown.
Gabriel ran through the woods, not knowing where he was going. Marcus was about ten feet behind him. "Wait up Gabriel," Marcus yelled. Gabriel heard him and stopped. "Marcus, what is happening!" Gabriel said scared.
"I don't know," Marcus said with a convincing look. Gabriel was panicking. "what's going on, did I just get shot at!" Gabriel said. "We got to go find Ryd-" Marcus was saying when he saw a red dot on Gabriel's head.
Marcus quickly tackles Gabriel into a bush. "HIDE!" Marcus yells at him. Gabriel runs and hides. Marcus jumps out of the bushes and tries to find the sniper. He sees the red dot come towards him.
Marcus starts to try to outrun the red dot as he swings off a tree branch on a tree. He was now looking for the sniper when a shot hit the branch he was on and it fell. Marcus hit the ground with a thud.
Marcus struggled to get up when a shot when a shot nearly hit him. He jumped up and ran to where the shot came from. He ran as shots were fired at him. He saw the man in a tree wearing a ghillie suit to blend in.
Another shot ran past him as he jumped up to the tree the man was on and grasped the man's sniper rifle. They fought over it as Marcus fell to the ground with the sniper rifle. The man jumped down and pulled out a machete from his back.
"Stupid pup," The man said and slammed down his machete on Marcus. There was no scream. Marcus looked up to see Gabriel bite his arm as the machete dropped to the ground. Gabriel was growling at the man, and the man's arm started to bleed.
The man grabbed a knife from his side and jabbed into Gabriel's stomach. Gabriel let go and whined from the pain. Marcus quickly grabbed the man's neck and ripped out a chunk of his neck.
The man grabbed his neck as the blood leaked out as he fell to the ground. Marcus got back up and looked at the man. He was now passed out and was dying from blood loss. Marcus looked at Gabriel.
"Are you okay Gabriel?" Marcus asked him. Gabriel looked at him with fear in his eyes. "Who are you?" Gabriel said through fear. "I am your friend, Marcus," He said with a smile. "But we need to get out of here and go tell Ryder," Marcus tells him.
"Yeah, your right but how am I going to get there?" Gabriel said. Marcus looked at the puncture wound, it was bleeding but not too much, and he needed medical attention. Marcus grabbed Gabriel and put him on his back.
"We need to get to Margareth to get you checked, until then I will carry you," Marcus said with a smile and started to make their way back to the Lookout. Rodrigo watched them as they left. "This is not good, things are going from bad to worse," He said to himself.
The other pups were still playing pup-pup-boogie, oblivious to what had happened. The game ended, and Skye had won, again. It was all just for fun. Margareth and Zuma walked back.
Zuma's face was covered in a big blush with a smile on Margareth's face. "What did you do to this poor boy," Mariana said with a smile. "Don't ask questions you don't want to answer too," Margareth said with a Malicious grin.
"God, what did she do to you?" Rocky said worried. "I don't want to talk about it," Zuma said embarrassed.
Marcus and Gabriel ran in looking for Ryder and Margareth. "Margareth, Ryder, we need you!" Marcus yelled. Margareth looks at them in horror. "What happened!" Margareth yelled and grabbed a first aid kit.
"These men, they attacked us, they were armed," Marcus said putting Gabriel down on the couch. Gabriel groaned from the pain. Ryder came down from the elevator. Margareth started quickly pulling out stitches.
"What happened," Ryder said surprised. "These men, they came and attacked Gabriel, they had guns and swords, and they tried to kill him," Marcus said. "Margareth, how is he?" Ryder asked her.
"Bad, Gabriel here, bite this, this is going to hurt," Margareth said handing him a wooden stick. "How bad?" Gabriel said worried. "A lot, but if I don't do this now you could bleed to death, I need Marshall," Margareth said needing her brother's help. "I'll call him," Ryder said pulling out his pup pad. "Marshall, come in," Ryder said.
Marshall, Austin, and Chase were just chilling on a bench. "Marshal, come in," came Ryder's voice from Marshall's pup tag. "Marshall here, what do you need?" He asked Ryder. "It is Gabriel, he was attacked again, it is bad, Margareth needs your help with the stitches," Ryder said much to the rest's surprise.
"Is he okay?" Chase asked. "No, he is awake but he could bleed out if he is not treated now," Ryder said. "Tell Margareth I am on my way and to get everything ready," Marshall said and started running back to the Lookout.
He made it back in about a minute. He looks at Marcus first to see blood stain his fur. He looked at Gabriel, the blood was gushing out and staining the couch. Then he looked and Margareth.
"Everything ready?" Marshall asked her. "I got the stitches but what else can I do?" She asked her. "Ryder, do we have any sort of anesthesia," Marshall asked him. "Let me go look," He said and ran off somewhere,"
"Gabriel, on a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate your pain," Marshall asked him. Gabriel thinks about his question. "I think six," Gabriel answered. "Do you feel any different besides the pain?" Marshall asked.
"I feel a bit dizzy," he answered. "Okay, we need to hurry, he is losing blood too fast, I would say 10 to 15 minutes before he bleeds to death, 5 before he passes out," Marshall tells her. "Marshall, I don't know what I am doing, I have never done this before," Margareth said starting to panic.
"Lisen to me Margareth, you need to focus, panicking won't help him, I am behind you all the way," Marshall reassured her. Margareth took a deep breath. "Okay, I am ready," She tells him.
Ryder came back in with a shot in his hand. "I found some, here," Ryder said and gave it to Marshall. Marshall takes it and injects it into Gabriel's arm. "This should help with the pain but it will still hurt, you ready?" Marshall asked him with a warm smile.
"It doesn't sound like I have a choice," Gabriel said. "Margareth are you ready?" He asked her. "I think so, let's get this thing going," She said and picked up the stitches. She started to stitch up the wound with Marshall backing her up and bringing her emotional support.
"Marcus, I need to speak to you," Ryder whispered to him and then went to the top of the Lookout. "Now tell me what actually happened," Ryder says. "To be honest, I really don't know, if you asking if they are a part of the Canine Global Security Watch Force then no, I really don't know who they were," Marcus tells them.
"Then who were they?" Ryder said confused. "I don't know but what I do know is they want him dead but why I don't know," Marcus tells him. "I believe you but this raises more questions than answers," Ryder said.
"Let's get back to Gabriel, he needs our support right now," Ryder said and they went back down. Meanwhile in somewhere unknown. Hunter was waiting on a bench infront of his house.
He was looking through his phone. He looked at pictures of him, Marshall, Margareth, and Nicholas. 'I wish things could go back to the way things were' He thinks to himself with sorrow.
He came across one picture in particular that stood out the most. It was a picture of him, Marshall, Margareth, Nicholas, and a white-haired girl. When he saw it tears came to him and started to cry.
'Why' he kept thinking to himself. "Bad memory?" came a voice that startled him. He looked up to see a cloaked man. "Oh, it's you," Hunter said and calmed down. "Are you ready to take up my offer?" the man offered.
"Yes, I think I am but I want to know who I am working for," Hunter tells him. "Not here, follow me," He said and they started walking a purple car. "Get in and put on this," He said and threw a blindfold.
"A blindfold, why would I need this?" He asked. "So you don't know where we are going, where I am bringing you only about 20 people know about, never mind know the location," He tells him and they both get into the car.
Hunter put on the blindfold and got comfortable. "So, what now?" Hunter asked him. "It is not far, only about twenty minutes from Canine Global Security Watch Force HQ," He tells him and they start to drive off.
"So, my team is much different from Canine Global Security Watch Force, we work more independently, about 11 big," He tells him. "You will have time to meet everybody soon but only four members are in today," he said with a smile.
"I did this way because I want you to start off with the main members," he finishes. "What are their names," Hunter asked. "They will tell you, and you will find that we are a more, special team, The man tells him.
It took about 20 minutes to get to their destination. "You can take off the blindfold, you don't need it anymore," The man tells him. He took off to see a big red building. The place was dark but bright light illuminated the way to the building.
"What is this place?" Hunter asked astonished by the place. "This the secret base of Team HOPE, also known as the Dragon's Den," He said with a smile. "But the outside is bland, the inside is where it gets better," The man tells him with a smile.
"Now come on, we don't want to keep the others waiting," the man said, leading him inside. They made it to the front which was locked by a code. The man put in the code and the doors opened.
Inside was a basic hallway. The man led him through the hallway into a big room. The was a front desk with no one inside. "Is there supposed to be someone there?" Hunter said pointing at the front desk.
"No, if the team ever gets big enough to warrant a desk attendant then I will get one but until then it is just for show." the man tells him with a shrug. Hunter looked around, it was a basic front office with plants, couches, and a few books but what caught his attention was a few displays.
Inside were a few cool and unknown guns, what looked to be a jet pack, a grappling hook, and a name. It was a company name, Foxy LLC. "What is all that?" Hunter asked. "Those are made by one of our part-time members, he is in today so you will be able to ask him about it yourself," The man answered.
"He makes this stuff?" He asked him. "Yup but he has little help from other members but most of his inventions are made by him," The man said. "Let's move on to the meeting where you can meet everyone," The man said pointing to the sign that said the meeting room.
They walked in to see an oval table that was pretty long with a projector that had a weird device on the table. All chairs in the room had an icon that labels them. At the head of the table was a purple dragon icon, next to it was a rainbow-haired pony with a cyan skin icon. On another side was a jolteon head icon, and next to him was a Keldeo head icon. Next to the pony was a black dragon icon. Next to the Keldeo head icon was a red dragon icon. Beside the red dragon was a weird mask that Resembled a rabbit icon. Beside the black dragon icon was a pup wearing a witch hat icon. At the other end of the table was the last icon, a fox head with an eyepatch.
"So, this is the new member," a girl said from the pony seat. She wore a black jacket with a tie-died shirt with black pants. She had yellow, red, and blue hair. "Yup, meet Hunter," The man said. She was holding her phone and had a smile.
"Well let me be the first to say welcome to the team," She said with a big smile. "My name is Raven but you can call me Rainbow, everyone else seems to," She to say with a giggle. "That's because you have ridiculous hair," a man said. He was sitting in the Keldeo seat. He was wearing a green shirt with blue pants, he was wearing blue sunglasses with red hair. "Oh shut it Kade, can't you go one hour without making fun of my hair," Raven whined.
"Anyway as Rainbow said I am Kade, nice to meet you," He said with a smile. "Well I guess I am next," said the man from the Jolteon seat. He had a yellow jacket with a white shirt with black pants. He had a white scarf and his hair was yellow. "I am Bolt, I hope we will be working together soon, and don't mind these two, they are always butting heads," He said with a smile.
"And last is me," said the cloaked man "My name is Spyro, Spyro The Dragon," He said and pulled off his cloak. It surprised Hunter, to say the least. "Wait, Dragons are real!" Hunter said surprised and excited.
"Most human mythical creatures are real they just don't live on earth, but I am a special kind of Dragon, I am one of the Purple Dragons, a master of all the elements," Spyro explained with a smile.
"There is a lot more to tell but we can save that for later, let's talk about the role we play," Spyro said with a smile. "Ravens is piloting and specialist or sniper expert, she handles the Frontier and long-range combat,"
"Wait, what's the Frontier?" Hunter asked. "The Frontier is our home ship, Bolt, show him," Spyro said. Bolt tapped on the weird device on the table. It was a hologram of a ship. It was long but big at the same time, it had four wings with four jet engines and four thrusters. The design was amazing to Hunter.
"What kind of ship is that?" Hunter asked. "It is one of a kind, only one exists and you are looking at it, impressive right?" Spyro asked. "Yes," Hunter said with a big smile like a puppy waiting for a treat.
"Good because we will be using it quite a lot," Spyro said with a smile. "And way next is Bolt, our Infiltrator and explosive expert, he handles explosives and tech stuff on the field," Spyro tells him,
"And then there is Kade, he is our Stealth expert, he can get in and out of somewhere without being caught," He tells him. "And we can't forget our Rurouni and Purple Dragon Spyro," Raven said with a smile.
"Aren't you forgetting about someone?" A voice said that came from behind Hunter. The man wore a bright red jacket, a darker red shirt, and brown shorts. He had red hair. "Ah, there you are Fritz," Spyro said with a smile.
"And last we have Fritz, He makes our equipment and is our supplier for all the things we have, and is the owner of Foxy LLC," Spyro tells Hunter with a grin. Fritz looks up and down at Hunter, assessing him.
"You Excel in agility and are quite strong but do not look like a soldier, You'll fit in just fine," Fritz said with a shrug and sat in the Fox seat. "Well now we need to discuss something very important," Raven said with a smile.
"Out of all things to discuss you decide that this is the most important thing to do?" Fritz said with a sigh. "Well it's kind of what makes us special, ask him, Rainbow," Spyro said smiling.
"What is your favorite character from a TV show, movie, or game?" Raven asked with a big smile. The question confused him. "W-what?" Hunter asked confused. "We all have codenames that Correlate to our favorite character like Raven's is Rainbow Dash and Bolt's is Jolteon, you can see it on their chair," Spyro said and pointed at the chairs.
Hunter thought about that question for a second. "Ezra," He answered. Fritz laughed at that. "Star Wars Rebels, he definitely fits you," Fritz said with a smile. "Then it is settled, your code name will be Ezra," Spyro said with a smile.
For the rest of the time they just chatted and had a good time. Hunter loved his new team and for once he thought things could get better. But the past never goes away and he will have to face it.
Back at the Lookout Margareth and Marshall finished the stitches. "That should do it, just down for a week and you should be good, I will check on you then, tell me if it starts to leak okay," Margareth tells him.
"Yeah, thanks Margareth," Gabriel said. "I won't be a very good medic if I let you bleed out," Margareth joked. "Let's not joke about him dying but great job, you did great sis," Marshall tells her.
"Yeah, I did," Margareth said and sighed. "I can only handle so much, I need a nap," Margareth said and yawned. Ryder looked at the time. "Alright pups, start getting ready for bed and Gabriel stays here for tonight," Ryder said much to the pup's disappointment.
"Yeah, we should get going too, I hope everything works out for you guys, come on Mariana and Austin, time to go," Said Veronica. One by one all the pups went to bed with the other leaving.
Today was a good and bad day overall. Marshall walked into his pup's house and collapsed. 'Why do me and Gabriel keep getting attacked, it doesn't make sense,' Marshall thought to himself as he fell asleep.
Gabriel was in deep thought and had little luck with sleep. He just stayed there for a few hours when he heard some footsteps. But he soon started to fall asleep. A cloaked dog stood over him, grabbed him, took off his pup tag, and left it on the couch.
A little later Sebastian was making his rounds because of Ryder's orders. He walks up to the couch to see Gabriel missing with his pup tag on the couch. He sniffs the air to catch any scent he can. His eyes go wide when finds a smell. "Antonio," he said and ran to the elevator.
He ran to Ryder's room and shook him awake. "Ryder, come on, wake up," Sebastian said panicking. Ryder woke up. "What do you need," Ryder said with a tired voice. "It is Antonio, He has finally lost it, he took Gabriel!" Sebastian said starting to panic.
"WHAT!" Ryder said with surprise and fear. "Go get Marcus," Ryder said and Sebastian ran off. Ryder pulled out his pup pad and scrolled to an unknown number, the name was Spyro. Ryder his call, hoping he knew what to do.
At the Dragon's Den Spyro was about to spar with Hunter. Hunter held two bamboo training swords while Spyro held one. They were in the training room, which is big with a bunch of different equipment. The other members were on the bleachers watching. "This will be your first lesson. Begin when ready, come at me with all you got," Spyro tells him with a grin.
Hunter smiled and ran at him with both swords. Spyro blocked most shots but Hunter was quick and landed three out of ten hits. "You have skill, were did you learn to use a blade like that?" Spyro asked impressed.
"Me and my wife used to spare like this all the time but I was never any good with one sword, so I adapted to two," Hunter tells him with a smile. Hunter continued to clash sword with Spyro, now hitting five out of ten.
Spyro was playing defense. "That was smart, Having two swords is not for everybody but with your speed and agility you can do more with two," Spyro said liking what he was seeing. They clashed again, this time Hunter hit seven times out of ten.
"But there is one flaw, your anger," Spyro said losing his smile and going for more of a serious look. "You have trauma that affects your fighting style, you let anger cloud your judgment," Spyro tells him.
Hunter did not wear and grin anymore. "So what," Hunter said anger rising. Hunter goes for another clash and hits only two times out of ten. "You can't change the past but you can't ignore it either," Spyro said seriously.
"You are a Dragon, I thought you guys were known for death and destruction, I have made mistakes but I bet you made more," Hunter said getting angrier. "At least I didn't beat a pup near to death," Spyro said knowing what the Consequences of those words were.
The words broke him and rushed in recklessly. This time he hit zero out of ten and was struck down by Spyro. Hunter fell to the ground with tears in his eyes. Spyro walks over to him and holds out his hand.
"What to Marshall and Gabriel was out of your control, you knew that you made a rash and reckless decision," Spyro tells him with a small smile. "There are no saints in this world, everyone has done something that they regret but what matters is how you handle it," He tells him.
"So are you going to get back or drown yourself in regret," Spyro tells him still holding out his hand. Hunter just stood there for a few seconds before taking it. "If you knew what I did then why do you want me to join your team?" Hunter asked wiping his tears.
"Most people see the world in black or white but the truth is that there are hundreds of colors, my team was made to protect the innocent but the team itself is not a form of heroes," Spyro tells him.
"Almost everyone in here has done something they regret and even some have cost lives, Almost all members were former military, Most people here know what it means to lose, even you," Spyro says with a sad look.
"I want you because I know you want to do the right thing, even if it costs everything you have, now tell me, will you join us?" Spyro asked. It did not take long for more tears to start to fall again. "Yes," He said with a big smile.
The others started to cheer. "Welcome to the team Hunter, " Raven said with a smile. As the others were Congratulating him Spyro heard his phone start to ring. He looked at the caller ID to see it was Ryder, he looked at the time and and saw it was really late.
He picks it up. "Hello, what do you need?" Spyro asked. His smile soon faded. "No, he wouldn't, I am on my way now, hold on," Spyro said and hung up. "Rainbow, show him his quarters and get him situated, I am off," Spyro said and ran off.
"Wait, where the hell are you going?" Raven asked. "Adventure Bay, Antonio lost it," Spyro said. "Wait, What!" Hunter said surprised. "Don't worry, Marshall's fine and I will see to that but for right, I need to go," Spyro said running off.
"Well, that happened," Kade said with an awkward face. "Does this happen often?" Hunter asked. "Oh, you have no idea, let me show you to your room," She said and started leading him out.
Marcus was now in the Lookout with Sebastian and Ryder. "What do we do, I wasn't even told where he was here," Marcus said. "Where would he take him?" Ryder said. "Well he could take him back to HQ but with Sebastian quitting I doubt he would do that," Marcus said and sighed.
"I can't believe he actually pupnapped him," Sebastian said with annoyance. Marcus was in deep thought. 'Where is he' he thought to himself. Marcus feels a weird change in the wind pattern, Sebastian notices it too.
"Is that what I think it is," Marcus said with a smile growing. Sebastian smiled too. "From all the times I have felt this, I know it is him," Sebastian said. "What are you two talking about?" Ryder asked confused.
Just then Spyro rolled into the Lookout through the window. He landed perfectly but the pup on his back fell to the ground with a thud. "Ow, did you really have to drop me," The pup said.
"Get over it, we have bigger problems right now Rod," Spyro tells him. Ryder was shocked. "How do get through the window and who is that?" Ryder asked pointing at the new pup Spyro had dropped. "This is Rodrigo, me and him are here to help with Antonio," Spyro said.
"Okay, so what do we do?" Ryder asked defeated. "Well, I have a good idea of where he is, probably in the Adventure Bay Checkpoint," Rodrigo said. "Hay Rod, where is it, I have never been there," Spyro asked him.
"It is in the woods, not too far," Rodrigo told him. "Okay, Ryder, Marcus, you guys are with me, let me do the talking, got it," Spyro tells them. "What do you mean follow you, I barely even know you," Ryder said annoyed.
"You don't have to follow me, you have your own choice but if you want the best outcome I would suggest you follow me," Spyro said. "I would trust him, I know he wants to help," Sebastian tells Ryder. "Okay, just don't make me regret this," Ryder tells him with a sigh.
"I won't, Gabriel is Technically my cousin so I do not plan on him dying but Antonio won't hurt him, He has just gotten a little crazy," Spyro tells him. "I would say deranged," Sebastian said with a grunt.
"He just getting old, he is mostly harmless, everyone makes mistakes," Spyro said. "This was not a mistake, you know that," Ryder tells him with annoyance. "There is a lot more to the story than you know, I am not telling you how to feel, just keep an open mind," Spyro said.
"Rod will lead us there, Sebastian stay outside and make sure we don't get any interruptions," Spyro says. "He sir," He said. "I am not your captain anymore Sebastian, haven't for a while now, keep the sir for Ryder," Spyro tells him.
"You will always have my respect Spyro, you stop a lot of disasters from happening," Sebastian tells him with a grin. "Okay, is everyone ready?" Spyro asked. "I think so, let's get going," Ryder said and they headed out.
They arrived at a building in the middle of the woods. "Well, it is something," Spyro said as a piece of the building fell off. "Yeah, This place has been around for a while, most people just forgot about it but that is why it is perfect for a checkpoint," Rodrigo said with a sigh.
"Well, you know the drill, keep us informed Sebastian," Spyro said and they headed inside. The inside was run down but had a few tools around with a new-looking couch. Spyro walks over to it to see Gabriel on it passed out on the couch.
Spyro heard footsteps and quickly looked into the door to another room to see Antonio there surprised. "Spyro, what are you doing here," Antonio said surprised. "Come on, you know why I am here," Spyro tells him.
Antonio looked around to see Rodrigo, Ryder, and Marcus. "What the hell have you done," Antonio said annoyed. "Stopping you from doing something too stupid," Rodrigo said with a smile.
"Well you are a bit late for that son," he tells him. "Listen, I know how much this prophecy means to you but you can't just kidnap pups," Spyro tells him trying to be soft. "It is not just that, you think being his uncle would mean I would have meant him but no, this is the first time I have seen him," Antonio tells him with a sigh.
"What prophecy were you two just talking about?" Ryder asked him. Antonio sighed. "You know you won't get anywhere with kidnapping right, you have to tell him, I sure can't," Spyro tells him.
"yeah, you're right, okay, You're name is Ryder right," Antonio asks him. "Yes, I would very much like an explanation as to why you would go to great lengths to see Gabriel here," Ryder said trying to keep an open mind.
"Well there is a prophecy in the Canine Global Security Watch Force that says when one shy and timid Chow-Chow/Werepup mixed breed overcomes his own timidness and shyness by growing out from his own shell of insecurities, he will make his mark on the world by howling and clawing his way to his true calling and when he grows out of his deepest fears, the once shy and timid Chow-Chow/Werepup mixed breed will make his place in the world by turning villains into good guys while making the world dissolve the pain and misery and bringing an age of everlasting peace," Antonio tells him.
"Wait what is a werepup?" Ryder asked confused. "Werepups are a mix of a dog and a wolf, they have special abilities like, unnatural strength, speed, and agility," Antonio explained. "And you think he is one?" Ryder asked him.
"I don't think, I know, his mother is Caroline who is full Werepup," Antonio tells him. "But what does this have to do with you?" Ryder asked him. "He will take my place as Chief of the Canine Global Security Watch Force," Antonio tells him.
"Okay, last question, why did you guys attack Marshall?" Ryder asked. Spyro giggled a bit. "Marshall is the son of Nicholas Blaze, as you know, but Marshall has always been a special case," Spyro tells him.
"Marshall's heritage is very important," Spyro tells him. "But why would you attack him?!" Ryder asked angry at them. "Because we need to see if he was ready to join, he has the potential but not enough training," Antonio said.
"Even with all this why not just ask him? Marshall is probably the most reasonable out of all the pups, and has a problem of helping almost anyone," Ryder asked him. "That probably would have gotten more results but NOoo, Antonio wanted to see what he could do under pressure," Spyro said with a mocking tone for Antonio.
"I get it you two, I messed up, badly, but what can I even do to fix it?" Antonio asked defeated. "As it stands now, you wouldn't get anywhere, they're still pups, they need time to grow up on their own," Spyro tells him with a soft smile.
"For now, take some time off, I can help you with that, I take care of two teams at once," Spyro tells him. "Yeah, maybe you are right but when will it be the right time?" Antonio asked.
"I propose one year, one year and you can come and test him, no illegal means, how does that sound you two?" Spyro asked both Ryder and Antonio. Ryder thought about it. "In the end, it is not up to me, I will not stop you but if he says no then you have to promise to stop chasing him, deal?" Ryder said.
"That sounds good to me, but for now, you guys should get going, I have a lot to think about," Antonio said. "Wait, who were the men that attacked Gabriel earlier today," Ryder said remembering it.
Spyro sighed. "We have no idea, but I do know that they wanted to kill him, I killed like seven of them, and the only I have to show for it is this patch," Spyro said and showed him the patch. It was the same patch Spyro took earlier.
"You really have no idea who they are?" Ryder asked him again. Spyro just shook his. "I think they knew of the Prophecy surrounding Gabriel but what really confused me is that he knew I was a dragon," Spyro said thinking out loud not remembering Ryder didn't know what he was.
"Wait, Dragon, what do you mean by that?" Ryder asked him. "Oh, oh well, I would have shown you eventually anyway," Spyro said and took off his hood. I really don't want to explain for a second but I am a Dragon, let's just leave it at that for now, I have a lot of research I need to do so if you excuse I need to get going, I will let you know if I find more but until then," Spyro said and walked off.
"Well, this certainly was a day," Rodrigo said. "I one full of surprises," Marcus said to him. "Well, let's get back Marcus, we don't need the team knowing about this more than they have to," Ryder said and picked up Gabriel.
"Yeah let's go," Marcus said and they walked out together leaving Antonio with Rodrigo. "Spyro really cares about Dad," Rodrigo said with a smile. Antonio smiled back at him. "I really don't know where he gets his smile from, he seems to take anyone out of a bad time," Antonio said with a smile.
"You are lucky to have a son like that," Rodrigo said with a small smile. Rodrigo's smile faded. "I know I may not be the best father for you but I care about you, you and Spyro, I love you both," Rodrigo tells him with sorrow.
"I know you do, you just have work, I understand but maybe with your time off we can spend a bit more time together," Rodrigo proposed. "Yeah, I would love that,"
The next morning rose and none of the pups knew what happened last night. It is probably better they don't
