Jack had still been busy when Ianto had decided to call it a day and go home. Most days were like that now there were only three people trying to do a job that had been hard enough with five. Soon they would have to bow to the inevitable, start looking for new recruits, but despite being run ragged over the last couple of months, none of them were ready to accept new faces taking the place of their fallen friends.

Tired though he was, Ianto didn't feel like going straight home, so he stopped off in his local for a couple of drinks, needing to spend some time surrounded by something approaching normality.

He'd just ordered his second whiskey and was debating the advisability of getting a beer to wash it down with, when he felt someone slip onto the barstool beside him.

"Hey there, gorgeous. How's about we slip outta here and go make beautiful music together?"

Ianto couldn't help himself, he snorted into his drink, and then his shoulders were shaking with silent laughter.

He turned to look at Jack. "That has to be the cheesiest pick-up line I've ever heard!"

Jack smiled. "Made you laugh though."
