"You're sure it's an explosive device?" Ianto enquired. He wasn't really questioning Jack's superior knowledge of alien devices and their purposes, he was well aware some things weren't exactly what they looked like, but still…
"Quite sure," Jack replied confidently. "It might seem harmless, but booby traps that look like explosives don't fool anyone. That's why these were deliberately designed to resemble the sort of puzzle sentient beings can't resist picking up and trying to solve. They were manufactured in the twenty-ninth century, then banned a few months later after a consignment accidentally got sent to a toy store. Created a huge scandal."
"Ah. Understandable." Ianto paced slowly around the device, keeping at a safe distance. "I'm assuming you can disable it."
"Of course." Jack beamed up at his lover. "I'm not just a pretty face."
"Right. I'll give you some space." Ianto backed up a few metres. "Do you need any special equipment?"
"Nope, just this." Jack produced a multi-function pocketknife and set to work. Seconds later, he leapt to his feet, yelling, "Take cover!" and shoving Ianto round a corner.
BOOM!
Ianto dusted himself off. "Thought you knew how to disable it!"
"That one was a bit unstable."
