Chin hesitated as he reached the doorway to Danny's and Steve's ICU room. Staring at the two men in the room, he swallowed nervously, uncertain whether to enter or leave and come back later. Deciding to do the later, he turned to walk away, jumping in surprised as he heard Steve's voice behind him.

"Hey Chin, don't go, I'm not asleep, I was just resting my eyes."

Turning back, Chin forced a small smile as he stepped back to the doorway, "It's okay Steve, I'll let you get some rest and I'll come back later. I was actually hoping to talk to Danny," Glancing across at his sleeping friend in the other bed before he looked back at Steve and added, "But I guess he's asleep."

"No, I'm awake," Danny answered tiredly, opening his eyes as he tried to sit up a little higher against the pillows that had been strategically placed behind him, "I don't know how anyone expects someone to sleep when they put someone who sounds like a buzzsaw when they doze off in the bed beside you!"

"I don't sound like a buzzsaw!" Steve protested, horrified that he was even being accused of sounding like a buzzsaw when he falls asleep.

"A buzzsaw!" Danny grumbled, glaring at Steve as he added, "And one that is badly in need of a tune-up."

Turning towards the doorway where Chin was still standing, trying not to smile at the familiar bickering, Steve appealed, "Tell him, Chin, that I don't snore!"

Chin grinned as he stepped into the room and glanced across at Danny before looking back at Steve who was waiting for his answer. Shrugging he answered, almost apologetically, "I'm sorry Steve, but Danny's right, I've heard you when you have fallen asleep in your office when you have decided to pull an all-nighter, you snore."

Danny grinned in triumph at Steve before he turned and looked back at Chin. Growing serious, he asked quietly, "You wanted to talk to me, Chin?"

Swallowing hard, Chin nodded as he nervously stepped around Steve's bed. "The nurse told me that I only have five minutes and then I have to leave, but I just wanted to tell you just how sorry I am for the way I treated you." He started softly, taking a deep breath as he reached the side of his friend's bed. Looking down at Danny's still extremely tired and exhausted face, he prayed that the honest, from the heart apology that he was about to make might help pave the way for him to start repairing the damage to a friendship he held dear and help to start healing the hurt that he had caused one of his closest friends.

Looking down at his hands before he looked back at Danny, he heard his voice crack just a little as he began softly, "I know you have heard this before from us Danny, but I just wanted to tell you just how sorry I am for the way I have been treating you. I never meant to hurt you, Brah, you know how much I love you as a brother. You have always been here for me when I needed you the most, and I always tried to do the same."

Danny nodded, not trusting himself to speak as he remembered the day Chin had mortgaged his house to help him raise the money in his attempt to save Matty. Chin had been by his side when he had needed him the most and was willing to give him everything, he owned to help him.

Chin shook his head in embarrassment as he softly admitted, "I really screwed up, Brah, I got caught up in what started off light-hearted fun of teasing you but somewhere along the way the fun teasing turned into nasty and pushed you away without me realizing that we had crossed the line. And I am sorry that when you needed me the most, I didn't even realize it and left you to cope on your own. I wish I could say that I had a legitimate excuse to why that happened, but I don't. Look, Brah, I have always thought of you as the strongest person I know and over the years I have seen you cope with things that would make most of us crumble but I guess I forgot that you are human, that sometimes the strongest person needs a friend to lean on and I'm sorry I haven't been here when you needed me the most."

Pausing a little as he heard his voice crack, Chin shook his head as he took another deep shuddering breath before he looked back at Danny and admitted, "I know that Kono is cooking up a storm so she can leave you meals for after you get out of hospital and Lou has taken Charlie to see the Wiggles, hoping that it will show you just how much they really do think of you as family. I tried to think of what I could do to show you just how important you are to me and how much I don't want you to leave Hawaii because of my own bad behaviour, but all I could think of was coming here and telling you honestly just how sorry I am and ask you to give us a second chance. I know I screwed up but all I can ask is please, no matter what you decide, please accept my apology, Danny. I am so sorry, I never meant to hurt someone who I consider one of my closest friends."

Sitting in the other bed, Steve held his breath as he watched the vast range of emotions that flickered across Danny's face as the room fell silent.

Swallowing the lump in his throat as he listened to Chin's apology, Danny could only nod his head in acceptance of Chin's apology before he managed to squeak out through his tightened throat, his eyes wide with fear at the thought of trying to eat Kono's cooking, "Kono's cooking me meals for after I get discharged from the hospital?"

Releasing the breath that he didn't realize he was holding as he realized Danny had accepted his apology, Chin grinned, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall as he quickly tried to reassure his friend, "Ohh yeah, Brah, her kitchen looks like a disaster area but don't worry, I have already arranged for some meals to be delivered for you, Gracie and Charlie from the Mama Italia Nia restaurant after you get home, and Renee and Duke's wife have already got together to make sure that the three of you won't starve while you are recovering. Also, I plan to come across and cook for you, myself, I can make a mean fried rice and chicken chop suey when I want to. "
