Chapter 21: Confronting the Darkmess Commanders

Back with Luffy's group, they ran out of the ruins with an injured Karoo. As they exited the rest of the supersonic duck squad was there. Two of them took Karoo and the others carried Luffy Nami and Ace. As they took off Nami turned to the group.

"So where to now?"

"Back at the resistance base to get Luffy a spark and then we'll join up with the others if they need help." Ace answered.

Nami nodded with Ace while Luffy had a big grin on his face.

"Man, I can't wait to see what spark buddy I get. Come on, LET'S GO!" Luffy shouted.

Back at Beep-o's ship

The ship was flying towards the Darkmess puddles. As the ship approached many stooges tried to shoot it from the ground. But it was too high and too fast to shoot down. As it flew over the puddles the teams Mario made jumped out to destroy them and open up the way to the palace.

Team Edge

Edge Zoro and Smoker leapt into the puddle. As they entered they were surrounded by darkness until they came upon solid ground. Once they landed they took note of their surroundings. The ground appeared to be volcanic rock and the surrounding area appeared to be some kind of void surrounded by lava.

"What the hell? How did we end up in some volcanic wasteland?" Smoker asked.

"That's how Darkmess puddles work. The inside is a pocket dimension that is tailored to whoever is in charge. It gives them the home field advantage." Edge explained.

"Doesn't matter, we'll still cut them down." Zoro said with confidence.

As they were looking for whoever was in charge Edge looked up and rushed at Zoro.

"Look out!"

Edge yelled as she pushed Zoro out of the way of bullets being fired from above. Smoker took cover behind a wall as the person who was firing at them landed. It was a rabbid woman in valkyrie like armor with giant horns and an orb of lava between the horns.

"You managed to dodge my surprise attack, impressive. But what else should I expect from the former leader of the spark hunters." The rabbid said.

"Who the hell are you?" Smoker asked.

"The Lava Queen." Edge answered.

"So glad that you know of me Edge." The Lava Queen responded. "Now then, where is that handsome stud Mario at? I was hoping to meet him again as we have some unfinished business."

Zoro began to snicker upon hearing this.

"What's so funny moss head?" The Lava Queen asked in annoyance.

"What!?" Zoro said in shock "What was that for!?"

"Your hair is green and short just like moss. It's the perfect name for you, don't you think?"

Zoro was gritting his teeth in anger when Smoker spoke up.

"Enough of this. We outnumber her three to one. Let's defeat her and get this over with."

"You sure about that?"

Smoker was confused when a large shadow grew over him. Edge pulled Smoker out of the way of a large pipe.

"Keep your eyes open greenhorns. We can't destroy this puddle if I have to keep saving your skins."

As the dust settled we see a large rabbid in purple clothes and a smaller rabbid in yellow clothes.

"You missed bro. You gotta make sure to hit them next time." The smaller rabbid said.

"Damn it. There's more of them?" Smoker asked in annoyance.

"It's a pleasure to ruin your day. I'm Bwario and this is my little bro Bwaluigi." Bwario said.

"That's the little brother!?" Zoro asked while pointing at Bwaluigi.

"So it's a fair three on three huh?" Edge asked.

The Lava Queen just laughed at Edge's question as she snapped her fingers and a fourth person came out. This was a human, a female, who was wearing similar armor to the Lava Queen but without the lava orb.

"No, Tashigi!" Smoker yelled.

Upon closer inspection it was revealed to be Tashigi, Smokers second in command. She was now under Cursa's control and had glowing yellow eyes along with rabbid ears and Darkmess radiating off of her. Smoker was furious at this development when Edge spoke up.

"Don't lose your cool smoke man. When we defeat her with spark weapons she'll be purified and freed of Cursa's control."

"You mean "if" you defeat her."

The Lava Queen rebutted as her and the others got ready to fight Edge's team.

Team Vivi

Vivi's group leapt into the Darkmess puddle and found themselves in an area that looked like a dungeon. Vivi was in awe at this phenomenon.

"I was expecting these Darkmess puddles to be strange but this is, well, I can't really describe it right now."

Vivi said to Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Luigi. Only to see they were goofing around.

"I know you've been through this before but isn't it still fascinating?"

"What's-a so fascinating about it?" Rabbid Mario asked. "You come in, it's weird, you beat up who's in charge and then things go back to normal. That's all there is to it."

"Yep."

Rabbid Luigi said in agreement. Vivi was just in awe at how simple the rabbids viewed this.

"Sometimes I wish I could think like you and just go through life without thinking too much about these things."

"Don't worry about it. We all have our own grooves to the beat of life." Rabbid Luigi said.

Vivi was comforted by this. As they were walking forward a large iron gate opened up in front of them. Three figures came out, Darkmess radiating off them as they glared at Vivi and the others.

"Hey look. Cursa got an oversized chicken, some weird dog and an old man to guard the puddle. Talk about an easy fight, right princess?" Rabbid Mario asked.

Vivi just remained silent as she gazed upon the three Darkmess soldiers. Rabbid Mario looked at her and was concerned as tears began to drop from her eyes.

"No, Pell, Chaka, and father. What have they done to you?" Vivi said in horror.

The three figures were revealed to be Cobra, king of Alabasta, and his personal bodyguards, Pell and Chaka, in there zoan hybrid forms. All three corrupted by Darkmess. Rabbid Mario was shocked to hear this.

"That's your old man?! Look about what I said earlier princess." Rabbid Mario tried to apologise.

"Nice one bro." Rabbid Luigi said.

"I didn't know she knew them!"

"Hey princess, remember, once we defeat them with spark power they will be free of Cursa's control and purified of Darkmess." Rabbid Luigi said to Vivi.

"Really?" Vivi asked.

"Of course. So let's mix 'em up, mess 'em up, and then fix 'em up. Okay?"

"Right."

Vivi answered with renewed confidence as she and the rabbids got ready to fight.

Team Luigi

Luigi Usopp and Chopper jumped into the Darkmess puddle and landed in an area similar to the deserts of Alabasta. Usopp looked around in confusion.

"You know, I was expecting something much more weird but this is just like Alabasta." Usopp said.

"Don't let that fool you Usopp. This area was made to give whoever is in charge here the advantage. So don't let your guard down."

Usopp and Chopper nodded in agreement and carefully began to look for the one in charge of the puddle. Chopper suddenly stopped and turned towards the east.

"Hey, do you hear that?" Chopper asked.

"Huh?" Usopp listened trying to here what Chopper hears. "I don't hear anything Chopper."

"Wait, I can hear it too." Luigi said.

Usopp continued to listen until he heard it also.

"Yeah I here it. It sounds like, digging?"

Luigi Usopp and Chopper looked towards the sound to try and find the source. As they searched they saw a large dust cloud, but it vanished as soon as they saw it.

"What was that?" Usopp asked.

"I don't know." Chopper replied.

Luigi was also confused until he looked down.

"Move!"

Luigi shouted as he grabbed Usopp and Chopper and leapt out of the way. Suddenly a pair of claws came out and tried to tear at the area where Luigi and the others were a second ago. Once the dust settled they saw some sort of large mole creature in the whole.

"AAHHH! It's a giant mole monster!" Usopp screamed.

"What the heck you saying boy! I'm a mole human not a mole monster! Stupid boy! Stupid boy!" The mole person yelled.

While Luigi Usopp and Chopper were confused they heard a large thump behind them. They turned to see a large man with a green jacket and a bowl cut. Next to him is a strange dog and a large baseball bat. Luigi took note that both these strangers had Darkmess radiating off of them.

"There you are Mister Four! What took you so long? We need to get rid of these intruders quickly! So hurry up! Hurry, hurry, hurry!" The mole lady yelled.

"Mister Four? That means you two are Baroque Works agents!" Usopp yelled.

"That's right he's Mister Four and I'm his partner Miss Merry Christmas. Better remember those names boys, cause they're the last names you'll ever hear!"

Miss Merry Christmas said as she and Mister four got ready for a fight. Luigi Usopp and Chopper did the same and got ready to engage the Darkmess infused Baroque Works agents.

Team Mario

Mario, Peach, Rabbid Peach and Sanji leapt into the Darkmess puddle and landed in an area that looked like a grand stage surrounded by castle walls and towers.

"What the hell?" Sanji said in disbelief. "I was expecting something more threatening not a night at the theatre."

"Don't drop your guard just yet Sanji. A night at the theatre could be very threatening, trust me." Mario said.

"Don't worry Mario. I'm sure it isn't Phantom guarding this puddle. He's busy doing his revival tour, I think." Peach said.

As they were pondering this a strange man in a swan themed ballerina outfit came out from behind the curtains of the stage.

"Oh my. My adoring fans have already come to greet me. Let me get a good look at you all."

The strange man danced up to Mario and his friends and grabbed each of their faces in observation. After he was done he danced back to the stage.

"Lovely, just lovely. You all will make a fine audience form my performance." Mario was about to say something but the man stopped him. "No no, don't you dare say you can't or won't watch my play. After all, this is a performance to die for."

The man said with a much more threatening tone and Darkmess beginning to radiate off of him. Mario and the others instantly pulled out their weapons and got ready for a fight.

"I call it, "requiem of the starchild" followed by a proclamation of Darkmess!" The strange man shouted.

Mario was about to shoot him when a large wax fist came out of nowhere. Mario avoided the attack and saw a Darkmess infused Mister Three and Miss Goldenweek.

"Oh great. These two again?"

"Yes! Mister Three and Miss Goldenweek have graciously offered to make my performance unforgettable. He is a lower rank after all. So it is an honor for him to help me, the ever stylish Mister Two, in your destruction Red Cap." Mister Two explained.

"So that's your number."

"Yes so sit back and enjoy the show. And be honored that your deaths will be remembered as the climax of the greatest theatre play to ever exist!"

"Yeah you wish bastard. We're taking you and your dumb play down." Sanji said.

"Hashtag, curtain call."

Rabbid Peach said as she and the others got ready for battle.
