DarkPriestess66 Sorry, I haven't updated this story in a while, the last few weeks have been a nightmare, I had contracted Covid and was sick for 21 days
Corina and Dasher made their way to the family's country estates, she only a few changes of clothing and a box of soap, she was recalled home because of circumstances that they couldn't just deal with on their own.
:We're be there soon, even if I have to stretch myself thin, Chosen. : Dasher states, as he cantered on the trade road.
:I know, loverling, I just don't see why they didn't ask for a Herald that wasn't related to them.: Corina replies, :But then again, I might just be the one, who can solve their problems. Seeing as they often forget that I'm one of their offspring!:
:To true, and your family isn't half as large as mine!: Dasher whickered a laugh as he sped up now that that they were pass the old city walls.
Corina chuckled as she shifted her seat with Dasher's stride, she was glad that the weather-workers had enough training to keep the skies clear for this part of the Kingdom.
Corina reached into her belt pouch and pulled out the letter, she trusted Dasher to not allow her to fall off, and to head in the direction of her Family's Home, since grandfather and grandmother moved in with their eldest son, once old age set in, and so they could spend time with their grandchildren before time was over for them. Her former Great-great Aunt Lady Orthallen wasn't to be seen, rumor had it she moved back to her blood family's property and haven't left since unless she's already gone. However, Corina didn't know and didn't really care.
"Corina, we request your immediate assistance at home." was all the letter had to say. She was worried about her kin, but somehow she couldn't shake the feeling that this was a ploy on her Lady-Mother's part to try and shackle her to Family Duty. Either by not believing her father about her confirmed bond, which they already met before one of the priests at a temple and wedded. She wore a silver wedding band that matched Harry's. He had gotten them while in the Wizarding World, when the news of their life-partnership was revealed.
After three days, Herald and Companion arrived at sunset at the Family's estate.
Corina dismounted at the gate and walked with Dasher to the stable where the special loose box reserved for Companions, every highborn family had one, if they had a Herald born into the Family. This one used to belong to Herald Kris' Companion. Corina waved off the stablehands, as she tended her Dasher. She made sure, he had hay, fresh water, and grain with in reach. She groomed him to get the travel dust off of him.
"You maybe a Companion, my love. But you still smell like a horse, now I do as well." Corina teased as she grabbed her saddlebags and walked along the path to get inside the manor house.
The servants took over, much to Corina's irritation. She hated not being able to do things for herself. She didn't mind not washing her own clothing or making it.
Once Corina washed and changed into another uniform, because she might not be on circuit, she was treating being here as a job to do. She headed down to the dinning hall, and walked into the room. Her parents and siblings were there, the younger children having eaten earlier than the adults.
Corina scanned the room and seen someone that wasn't even related to her. She mentally cursed her luck. Her mother is at it again.
"Grandfather is alright?" Corina asked as she joined her bloodkin.
"of course." Lady-Mother answers with a sweet smile on her face.
"What am I doing here?" Corina questions as she tried hard not to stand up and leave.
"We need to discuss your betrothal." Corina's mother responded
Corina's blue-black eyebrows rose to her hairline as she stared at her Mother. "My What?"
