Chapter 6
Kanato Sakamaki
The girl's bare feet walk on the water pulling the red roses petals. She smirks watching as the petals fall behind her trail. But as softly like the water, she sings softly to a familiar song.
"Are you going to Scarborough fair?
Parsely, sage, rosemary, and thyme.
Remember me, to one who lives there."
As that songs behind her, our heroine Akira watches the girls back. The rose petals on her feet, eyes blank, and the song repeating in her head. She closes her eyes singing along.
"For he was a true love of mine."
I open my eyes to realize that I was at the entrance to one of their terrace. As I turn the knob to open the door, the song repeated but with a different voice. A voice that couldn't be anyone but...
"Kanato."
Kanato stopped singing to look at me with a smile, some way a smirk, on his face.
"Akira."
I walked over to Kanato, jumping up on the ledge and sitting with him. I looked up at the darken sky, and stars. There was no moon in sight but that didn't mean the night sky wasn't beautiful. The morning sky is beautiful but so is the night.
"Beautiful, don't you think?" I asked.
I didn't see Kanato but I'm positive he nodded his head. Kanato Sakamaki. A childish boy holding a teddy bear everywhere. He acts like he is hateful and loves to give punishment to those that don't obey him but... I look at Kanato as his eyes were still on me. He does have his moments were he truly cares.
"What are you thinking Akira?" Kanato ask, tilting his head.
The actions from the grave sight came into my head. His actions were something that I didn't expected but learning and remembering about him makes me feel comfortable around him. I lean my head against his shoulder, surprising him in the process.
"I wonder... when did I become so comfortable with all of you. When did my heart grow softer."
Kanato soften his eyes.
"Akira."
I sigh getting off of him and the ledge to smile at him gently.
"Come on now, lets go back inside. I'll make some sweets for you."
Kanato swung his legs still sitting on the ledge staring at me.
"You are cute Akira."
My eyes widen from the sudden compliment. I rubbed the back of my head confused but grateful. A tint of a pink coated my cheeks. Kanato chuckles looking at my expression.
"Say Akira, if you kiss me then I'll get off."
This stopped my actions and embarrassment looking at him surprised.
"You are cute but you are also naive too. You believe that we don't have any motive towards you but we all want something from you. How could we not? Watching you smile and laugh with Yui-chan. You being protective towards her but look at us with anger and sadness. You bark at us angrily for teasing Yui-chan and making her cry. Then when we are by ourselves, you seem to be like a different person. A lonely naive little girl, looking for something that she is missing. However, the more you search the more you are hurting right?"
Kanato's long speech had me complete shocked. I was a lost for words for everything he was saying was true. It seemed like Kanato knew me more than I knew myself.
"I've always been there Akira." He reaches towards me, moving strands of hair behind my ear. "Always watching you. In hope, that your gaze only focus on me."
He moved closer to me feeling his lips closer to mine. He laughed before truly touching my lips and staring at my shock expression.
"You are so hopeless Akira! I can't believe you took everything that I said seriously!"
He continues laughing letting me go. My eyes widen staring at him for this laugh wasn't real. His words, now, weren't real either. I don't know how I'm able to know that but I can feel him lying. I can see expression. I can hear in the slight raise of his tone.
"I'll get down."
"Huh? Kanato?"
He stand up from the ledge smirking down at the ground. My whole body shivered as I watch him slowly turn around. He raised one arm in the air.
"So long."
My eyes flashed red watching Kanato fall backwards. The present him fazing out and the child taking his form. He was reaching for me falling backwards. But what shocked me the most was him crying.
"K... Kana-chan!"
I screamed jumping of the terrace taking Kanato's hand. We were falling fast onto the ground.
"Czar!"
The blue mist of Czar surround us as I hold on tightly to Kanato. We both landed safely on the ground but that didn't matter. I moved Kanato softly off of me. He returned to his present self but that stop the rage inside me.
My fangs were shown and my red eyes glowing of pure anger. The trees were rustling from the wind that I was creating. The rocks were making noises from jumping slightly onto the pavement. Czar's huge wolf form behind me howling darkly.
"If you ever do that again, I'll be the one to kill you Kanato."
Kanato's body shivered staring at me surprised. He nodded his head like a scolding child unable to argue back. Despite his actions, he is a vampire and I should have known that he wouldn't die. But...
"Vampire... or human... it doesn't change the fact that I care for you."
Kanato nodded his head. My anger subsided for the wind to stop and Czar to return back into metal charm.
"Akira, if it is not to much trouble. As an apology, I want to show you something. A place where you and I will hide all the time." He ask grabbing my hand.
He didn't allow me to reply to his question but pulled me to the location. We entered somewhere underground from the mansion. The place seemed eerie and creepy. Not to mention, it was filled with...
"Wax figures?"
There were different types of women with all different types of wedding dresses. They dresses were beautiful and so were the girls in them. But something about this feeling made everything strange. Kanato let go of my hand stopping in the middle of the room.
"Yes. Even Teddy perks up when he comes here. Right, Teddy? You don't look like you are enjoying yourself here."
I moved towards one of the wax figures touching the wax. My eyes widen as it felt slightly warm. I stepped back as Ayato's voice came in my head.
"Are you tell me that Pancake and Melon here are the prospective brides?"
"No..."
I stepped away from the wax figure thinking about Yui. As I looked around the room, these girls must have all been the prospective brides.
"Kanato why..."
I turned towards him but he was gone. My eyes widen as I begun to run. My main objective was trying to find him. His small was still in this room.
"Kanato?"
I looked behind the wax figures.
"You would look so beautiful with them Akira."
His voice echos around the walls.
"Are you kidding me? Kanato come out right now."
"But the question is, would I want to capture your human or vampire self?"
I started my run again. This time, however, trying to find the exit.
"I would keep you displayed so carefully," Kanato's voice sounds excited, "And it would make Teddy so happy to have you stay finally. It would be a win-win situation for you! What do you say?"
"Are you insane? There is no way I would be happy as a wax figure. Besides, that isn't how you are going to get me to stay."
I narrowed my eyes at the exit. This whole thing was insane.
To think I actually cared for him and jumped off that terrace to save him. Something isn't right.
"Akira..."
My eyes widen as I reached for the exit while Kanato's hand was reaching for me too. The exit door opened to reveal the dark night and Ayato showing himself.
"Ayato?"
Ayato entered the room glaring behind me.
"Kanato, Reiji wants to see you."
Kanato came out finally behind me and glared at Ayato.
"You ruined everything Ayato." Kanato spoke hatefully towards his brother.
Ayato tsked pointing outside, "Get out."
Kanato sighed looking at me touching my cheek.
"Call me by that name next time we are together, Akira."
Kanato leaned forward kissing my cheek then walked out of the room. I stared at Kanato's back sighing in relief. Ayato has the most amazing timing ever. I look back at Ayato but he glared angrily at me.
"What's with that look?"
Ayato moved his face closer to mine.
"You idiot. Didn't you know that Kanato's favorite game was hide n' seek with you?"
My eyes widen as the events that happened made so much sense. He was toying with me. He was seeker and I was the rabbit. I don't know what happens when you are found when it comes to him but the feeling didn't feel good.
"No... I didn't know."
Ayato sighed exhausted. That's when I noticed his tired eyes and dark shadows under his eyes. His hair looks like a mess.
"Ayato, are you okay?"
I reached forward touching his cheek. This seemed to surprise Ayato but his look changed to excitement. He put his arm around my waist and kissed my lips. His hold on me tighten with his kiss getting more passionate. He slowly let me go staring down at me. His eyes were clouded but they were gentle. He pat my head walking away without truly answering my question.
I need a break...
I sighed walking upstairs inside the mansion. My focus was getting back to my room and getting some sleep from how exhausting it was use to my powers. My red eyes returned to the normal color. I looked in front of me seeing a man that doesn't like to appear often.
"And where the hell have you been?" I questioned, putting my hands on my hips. "I swear Subaru, your like a ghost that never appears."
"And your someone who is a loud mouth."
I smacked Subaru's arm laughing.
"Shut up. I rather be loud than a quiet mouse like someone."
Even though I laughed, Subaru did not laugh. All he did was stare at me with sad look in his eyes. Those eyes... once they turn sad looks familiar in ways that its hurtful.
"Stop!"
My eyes widen as Subaru in front of me turned into a crying child. He was holding tightly on a knife and pointing at a beautiful women.
"How can you ask Suba-chan to ask this of you?! I won't let him kill you! Even if it is your wish, Suba-chan needs his mother! Please!"
"Your mother..." I whispered softly. He stared at me surprised. "Subaru you didn't..."
Subaru look down sadly shaking his head. He took out the knife that was in his back pocket handing it to me.
"She took her own life in front of my eyes. But I... I drank her blood..."
I moved the knife away from him and hold onto him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me for the feel of his shaking body against mine.
"Akira, do you remember us?" Subaru asked pulling back staring at me.
I look down sadly shaking my head. "These are only fragments that my brain will recall. As much as it hurts me to not completely remember you, I know that I will remember soon."
Akira/Akira-chan/Akira/Akira/Akira/ Akira!
I smiled as the last piece of Subaru's childlike voice rang in my head. Subaru slide down to the floor pulling me on his lap. My back on his chest, his fingers playing with my hair. My entire body was feeling so relax. I stared at the knife in my hand narrowing my eyes softly. I touched one of Subaru's hand as the children in my visions overwhelm me.
"Subaru." Subaru sleepily 'hmm', nuzzling closer to my neck. "Wait for me. All of you wait for me."
"You are to pick one of us to marry."
In time Laito, I will choose but right now. I need to fix from the time I was gone. To fix the days that were lost. And hopefully regain everything that I need.
I'm sorry Yui for my selfishness.
I closed my eyes leaning against the sleeping Subaru.
Sorry...
"Are you going to Scarborough fair?
Parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me, to one who lives there.
He once was a true love of mine."
The red petals were completely off the rose. The girls expression turned into frown as children's laughter, familiar children's laughter, were all around her. She dropped the rose on the water. The water slowly engulfing the rose. She looked up seeing screens of children playing all around her. They rise up into the darken ceiling, every single one disappearing. The girl look back straight walking forward.
"What's going to happen next?"
