Chapter 8

Cordelia

The mansion was dark and eerie. There was no noise, not even a single drop of water was heard. Since that night, the Sakamaki brothers and Yui have been checking up on me. They would come in my room and watch my sleeping form. Some would sleep on the bed with me. Some would grab a chair and watch me inventively. The women in black dress would still appear in my dreams. Her honey like voice surrounding me, trapping me in her web. The dreams end with one scene every single time. Her body covered in blood on top of a bushes surrounded with purple flowers. Then, I would wake up.

Currently, I'm walking down the hallway wearing only my nightgown. They refused to have me leave the grounds of the manor. I couldn't go out of the gates so I didn't bother of getting ready for school. I refuse to sleep which is why I'm swaying slightly and have bags under my eyes. Suddenly, a piano playing a beautiful melody. It is the only thing I've heard all day in this quiet manor. And I knew who was playing it. I slowly walk towards the piano room seeing Laito with a smile on his face. His fingers dancing smoothly on the keys.

"Akira-chan, your up." He states without looking at me. "I'm happy to have you here with me right now."

I walked further into the room. My hand softly touching the piano as I stare at him playing. The music was pretty but my dreams kept coming to my head. The last dream of bloody, dead, figure staring at me with no life in her eyes.

"Laito... how did Cordelia die?"

This stopped Laito from playing. His expression turning grim. The hat covering his eyes casting shadows. I felt hands on my shoulders to look behind me. He was narrowing his eyes at me, glaring angrily.

"What are you doing here?" He asked irritated.

"You must return to your room." The last triplet commands in front of me.

"Kanato... Ayato..." I look down holding my hands close to me. "I can't go back because she appears there." This made Ayato's grip on me tighten and the rest of the atmosphere depressing. "How did she die?"

My eyes widen watching Laito and Kanato looking away from me. Their eyes holding guilt but in someways... it shine with anger. Ayato was the only one facing me.

"We killed her."

The sounds of a women screaming in pain under the blood full moon. She breathes heavily with blood dripping down her dress and mouth. She steps further back, climbing up the stairs, while glaring at the culprit that made her blood. The very person she created. Her son...

"Ay...ato..." She whimpers in pain.

She breathes heavily but Ayato only smirks looking down at his clothing filled with her blood.

"What a shame, it's ruined now." He whines looking at his sleeve. And I really liked this shirt too. It's soaked in your blood, Mom." He raised his hand to his mouth tasting her blood. "Your blood tastes so sweet." He starts devouring the blood from his hand. "It's so delicious." Then looks up at her with his eyes glowing and blood dripping down his mouth. "I want more."

Cordelia grows afraid stepping further back.

"And this time mother, Akira will not be here to stop me."

This caused more fear for her son and runs off. Ayato laughing at her weaken form. The sounds of it echos through the walls. Cordelia was stumbling to stay up while losing so much blood. She leans against the wall for a balance. Her blood staining the walls. She quickly slams the door opens of the piano room seeing Laito occupying it.

"Laito..." She stumbles her words, swaying but refuses to fall. "Laito..."

Laito doesn't look at her but continues play the piano.

"Oh no. What's the matter?" Laito ask with no concern or worry.

"It's Ayato," Cordelia replies angrily. "He's torturing me!"

"Wow, really?" Laito asked with the same unconcern tone for her. "Well, I knew this would happen sooner or later."

Cordelia was shocked at her son's uncaring nature towards her. She was getting angry at him so she raised her blood stained hand reaching towards him.

"Laito, I command you to help me!"

This made Laito stop playing the piano staring at Cordelia. Then banging on the windows caused fear into her heart.

"Ayato has come for me. He has come to kill me!" She concludes scared and angry.

Her son inspects the banging for the tree branches was the only culprit hitting them.

"That isn't Ayato," He reassure her. "That's just the wind." Cordelia breathes heavily, still staring at the window. "Relax." Her eyes focusing on her son as he smiles softly at her. "I'll keep you safe."

The scenery change to a different room. This room looks like it could be Cordelia's with many jewelry covering her night stands. She sits on the terrace edge staring at the red moon with a more calming expression. All sense of fear gone but was replace with a blissful smile. Laito comes out grabbing her attention.

"Have you driven Ayato away from me?" She asked.

"Yup, he's gone." He replies happily.

"I knew I could depend on you, Laito." She sighs in relief then looks back at the red moon. "I wonder if that child is still out there."

"Child?" Laito questions, tilting his head.

"Akira." She replies. Her son narrowed his eyes watching his mother touching her lips. "The product child of a man that was stronger than even your father Laito. Her sweet smile and angelic like voice. And her blood... the smell of him... but..." Her eyes narrow darkly. "Her face of that women. You see Laito, I had to do it. He wasn't going to be happy with a women that gave up being a vampire. She was going to die without him. And that child was going to be left in the world without a mother. That child should have been mine with him. All mine."

Laito's hand were in fist so tightly that his nail were drawing small amounts of blood, but his face never escaped that calming loving nature towards her.

"A sinful women you are. A women that I love most in this world." Laito comments walking towards her.

She looks at Laito with a loving smile raising her hand towards him.

"Laito, I love you."

Laito chuckles taking her hand.

"I mean that."

His eyes narrowed watching her loving coming closer. He gripped on her hand then...

"No!" She screams falling backwards.

Laito looks down at his dead mother, surrounded by her favorite flowers.

"Now you will be in hell for your crime. I did love you once... mother."

He glances at her once before walking away in the dark. The rain begins pouring on Cordelia with Kanato coming forward holding a candelabra with purple flames. He stares down at his dead mother.

"Mother, what's wrong?" He ask with no reply. "There's a hole in your chest, Mother." He set object on the ground. "Wake up, Mother." He reaches forward touching her forehead and closed eyelids. "I wonder where your heart went?" He looks around. "Help me look for it. C'mon. Are you dead, Mother?" He leans closer to her face petting her hair. "You're so cold... and so wet. Mother, you must be freezing." He moves back slowly. "Hold on, I'll warm you up."

He grabbed the object and put the purple flames on her. The flames consuming her body, burning her flesh. The purple flames were getting higher.

"Now, doesn't that feel warm, Mother?"

Kanato watches his mother with a happy expression and chuckles.

"C'mon, tell me you're getting warmer."

Kanato's laughter starts getting louder and louder with the flames burning her body, only leaving the bloody dress.

I covered my mouth hearing their story. It sounded horrible. Yet the women's action of her treatment towards her son was worst. Her words about me confused me so much.

"What... what did she mean by women and that man?" I asked.

The room was quiet and no one willingly looked up at me. Laito sighed finally facing me with a sadden look.

"I'm sorry Akira... but our mother... killed your parents."

My eyes widen staring at him.

"No..."

Ayato spoke up, "We found out from overhearing her conversation with our Uncle." His voice sounded angry. "Akira, she wants you then and she still does."

I faced Ayato moving backwards, bumping into the piano.

"But why me? I don't understand..." I asked.

"Akira..." Kanato spoke, "It does not matter right now. You must return to your room."

"No I won't!" I shouted. "Something isn't right... Something doesn't make sense! Why would she want me!? What is so special about me?! Just who the hell am I?!"

I shake my head hearing her voice again in my ears. She was consuming my every thoughts. She was making my world turn dark.

"I can't take it anymore!"

I ran off with their shouting at me. Shu and Reiji appeared soon after but I ignored them running past them. Yui successfully grabbing onto one of my arms but there she was again.

"Stop... Stop haunting me!"

I got her hold off of me running forward again. Subaru was in front of me holding onto me tightly. He was stronger compared to me. I thrashed around in his hold crying and screaming.

"This doesn't make sense! Nothing makes sense!"

"What the hell happened?" Reiji demanded staring at the triplets.

Ayato glared angrily at Reiji, "We told her about the story of our mother's death."

"You did what?" Subaru yelled at him, holding me tightly.

"She was the one that asked." Ayato quieted his voice, staring at my broken state.

The tears continue flowing on my cheeks and my struggle towards Subaru has stop.

"Neechan why did you ask them?" Yui walks slowly towards me.

"Because... she's still here. I can still feel her..." I replied holding my head looking down. "Every night, she appears in my dreams. Every night, I watch her body covered in blood. Then, a girl trying to help me through the dream ends up disappearing in the dark. I'm tired of this... Everything..."

"You shouldn't give up idiot!"

I looked up at Subaru surprised at his yelling. He stared at me with those ruby red eyes full of determination.

"You tried to protect all of us when we kids! Now its time for us to protect you! But we can't do it by ourselves Akira. You need to face this like we faced ours!" Subaru scolds me.

I continue staring at him shock. The brothers behind him seem to silently agree with him. He leans his face closer to me.

"Akira," He kissed my lips surprising everyone. The kiss calmed me down with his hold softening. He released my lips staring at me once more, "We are here..." He pulled me to his chest rubbing my head. "We will help you through this so sleep, idiot. And if she shows up, we will be there."

His voice... his reassurance... It warmed up my heart. Everything that I was afraid diminished with them circling me in their arms. That night I slept without that women appearing. I slept with dreams of the brother laughing, smiling, and playing like children. We were all happy.

My knights...

While Akira dreamed beautiful dreams. The young girl was gripping onto the purple hair women throat. She was glaring hatefully at her but the women smirked up at her.

"Found you... how dare you enter a place where I domain... Leave at once."

The women chuckles darkly, "How pathetic..." She gulps through little breathing. "She doesn't know you exist yet you still protect her..." She laughs darkly. "I can't wait until you sunk your fangs into her! Watching as her human self slowly disappears! Hurry! Before her mind destroys her instead of me! ARIKA!"

The young girl squeezes her throat for the women to explode in purple flowers. The flowers drowning in water. She looks down at her hand for one single petal was in her head.

"Do not worry Cordelia... for no one can truly sink their fangs further into her than I can."

She lets go of the petal in her hand and watch it sunk looking at her reflection but instead sees the sleeping Akira laying on her bed. She reaches for her but the water prevents her from touching the sleeping girl. A tear falling on her cheek.

"I'm so lonely Akira... come here soon."
