The contestants were still doing everything they could to try and locate Mavis's grave. Lucy was eventually able to figure out the possible location by paying attention to the words in Makarov's speech. She and Cana headed out to find it, with Gray and Loke following them after spying on the girls for info. Erza and Juvia, who were hanging out at the campsite after she and Lisanna lost the Trial, decided to head out to look for Wendy and Mest, who also got disqualified, but haven't shown up yet. The soldiers were still watching the whole thing. Some of them smirked and chuckled while others only sighed and raised their eyebrows at the boys peeking on the girls for info. Although, some of them couldn't help but feel something was off.
One of the pair of contestants, Gajeel and Levy, were hiding from one of the local monsters on the island. Eventually though, Gajeel got sick of waiting and decided to beat the animal to a pulp, the poor creature never standing a chance. The blue bookworm however, was not pleased. They got into a fight with Levy complaining that Gajeel only cares about fighting and not enough about her, with Gajeel telling her off, saying she should be stronger if she wants his attention. Levy couldn't take it anymore and smacked Gajeel with her purse while he wasn't looking.
"Find, you stupid iron-hearted jerk, who needs you anyway?!" She screamed while running off.
"What just happened?" Gajeel said, falling to his side with a dumbfounded look.
"You were being an asshole, that's what." Ymir said blankly, crossing her arms.
"I hope Levy is going to be okay." Krista said worriedly. They noticed the direction that the bluenette was running towards was in a place where the lacrimas couldn't see them. Ymir narrowed her eyes a bit as she saw Levy running away.
'Something doesn't feel right.' She thought to herself.
Levy was continuing to run, still upset over Gajeel's attitude and behavior towards her. She knew that she was strong, she could feel it. But Levy had little confidence in herself, mainly due to the fact that she wasn't a huge fighter like the others and she felt her appearance was inferior to the other women in Fairy Tail for… obvious reasons.
When Levy stopped, she was contemplating to herself about her relationship with the Dragon Slayer. It's been a complicated one to say the least. She heard rustling in the bushes. The soldiers wondered if it was Gajeel coming after her.
"Leave me alone."
"AAHHH!" Two silhouettes popped out, and neither of them were Gajeel.
"What in the?!" Connie shouted.
"What's happening?!" Jean added.
The two shadows charged. One of them drew their swords and slashed at Levy, cutting off her headband as she fell back. The intruders revealed themselves to be anthropomorphic animals, a humanoid goat wearing samurai armor, and a humanoid chicken.
"I don't think these are island creatures!" Levy screamed.
"Clearly not." Eld said.
The chicken man grabbed Levy by her hands and held her down, leaving her an easy target for his partner.
"We have to go help now!" Connie screamed. "Let get-" He turned over to see Ymir and Krista.
"Hey, where did they go?!" The rest of the soldiers looked to see that the two girls were gone.
"First catch of the day!" They looked to the screen and gritted their teeth in anger and horror as they could not get to Levy in time.
The goat man swung his sword, only to have it clash against something and ricochet. The chicken felt an iron club crushing his beak as he was pushed back, freeing Levy.
Gajeel came just in time.
"He made it!" Gunther said.
"And Levy's safe now!" Hange added.
"Don't count on it, four-eyes." Levi rebutted. "He took them by surprise, but those two look like they aren't going down without a fight."
"But where did Ymir and Krista go?" Sasha wondered. Armin was thinking about it until he thought of something.
'Did they go because-' He didn't finish that thought as the two monsters got back up and had the duo cornered on both sides.
"It's tough to keep track of yah if you run off on your own kid." Gajeel commented. Levy looked at him in shock, before she looked to the ground with her eyes watery.
"Seriously, don't leave my side again." The Iron Dragon Slayer clarified. Levy gasped, smiling at his words.
"Awe, look he does care." Sasha said.
"This is no time for heartwarming moments, our friends are in danger!" Jean shouted.
"Sorry." Sasha squeaked meekly.
Levy got up and faced the chicken while Gajeel stared down the goat. Levy noticed the symbol on both of them.
"Grimoire Heart?" The soldiers gasped at the name. "I don't understand why anyone from a dark guild would be here." Levy noticed.
"What else? To cause trouble." Reiner spoke, knowing the girl couldn't hear him. He hoped Gajeel and Levy would be okay.
"We can't stand around here commander. If Grimoire Heart is here, they must be targeting the members of the Fairy Tail guild." Levi turned to Erwin.
"I agree, we must go over and help them." Mike said, one of the few times he would speak. Erwin closed his eyes for a moment.
"You're right we must. If my hunches are correct, then Makarov should know about them too." He turned to look at his scouts.
"Ready to head out immediately! We'll leave at once!" With that, everyone grabbed their uniforms and ODM gear, all the while keeping their eyes and ears on the screen to make sure their friends were alright. Meanwhile, the duo were still trapped in between the two dark wizards. They had a little banter with Gajeel giving a quick tip on adaptation, Levy making note of their guild's motive, and the two animal people making fun of legal guilds and their status as hunters, revealing themselves to be Yamazo, the goat samurai, and Kawazu, the chicken man.
"What's this ultimate prey you're looking for?" Gajeel questioned. Yamazo smiled.
"I'm so glad you asked." He swung his sword down and a Japanese Kanji was created, making the pair cover their ears.
"Our prey is every member of Fairy Tail!" Yamazo shouted, Kawazu bocking in sadistic excitement. The duo covered their eyes in a poor effort to protect their hearing.
"My ears! He's using magic writing, just like you do! Ain't that right? Hey Levy, can you hear me-"
"I'm almost positive he's using the eastern version of Solid Script Magic!" Levy said. Armin gasped. He learned about the different types of Letter Magic during his training with Levy, and he's seen the description for the eastern variant: Oriental Solid Script Magic. He never thought it would be used here, let alone against his teacher who happens to use the same power.
"Wave!" A pulse of blue magic hit the symbol, making it dissipate. The hunters were confused.
"What the-!" Yamazo looked in confusion, then felt something painful on his cheek as he was sent to the ground.
"Hey goat-man! You came to the wrong habitat!" Ymir showed up, her ODM gear attached.
"So that's where she went." Annie said.
"How did she know where to go, or when it was happening?" Bertolt asked.
"Yamazo! Uh!" Kawazu screamed as a piercing force impaled his chest and he was sent back. Krista made her move as she showed up.
"Krista!" Levy shouted in excitement. Krista looked relieved when she saw them.
"Levy, Gajeel. I'm so glad you're okay!" She ran up to her friends to check on them.
"Heh, it was nothing short stuff." Gajeel said. He looked over to Ymir.
"So, you actually care about people under that snarky persona, huh?" He asked with a grin. Ymir smirked.
"I could say the same thing about you rust bucket." The wizards turned to their foes and Krista checked up on Levy for any injuries.
"Who are you? How dare you erase what I've written!" Yamazo grunted.
"Allies of the people you decide to pick on!" Ymir drew her swords, as did Krista. Gajeel took the opportunity to strike Yamazo with an "Iron Dragon Club" before covering his arms in iron while Levy had her magic pin ready.
"You'll regret getting in the way of a hunter and his prey girl!" Kawazu clucked. The chicken and his partner get themselves ready for combat.
The other soldiers saw this and wasted no more time. They immediately got off the ship and ran off to help their friends, now knowing of the danger they were all in.
The six stared at each other. Ymir and Gajeel looked at Yamazo with cold fury while Levy and Krista locked eyes with Kawazu, their eyes filled with determination. Neither of them made a move.
The hunters made the first move. Yamazo slashed the duo in front of him with his sword using the letter magic, while Kawazu fired a bunch of magical eggs at the girls that were more lethal than they looked. Gajeel tried to block the attack, but the slash actually made a dent in his draconic iron. The slash was wide enough to cut down the nearby trees and force everyone to duck out of the way.
Ymir gasped as she flew up to avoid the slash, not having a chance to block it, while the other girls barely got down in time. Krista and Levy ducked out of the way as the eggs were coming in barrages that they tried to avoid as best as they could, but with difficulty.
"Solid Script: Fire!" Levy wrote out the word and soon the flaming letters appeared. The word transformed into its meaning and all the eggs that were coming at her and the blonde were turned to crisps.
"Shining Glare." Krista gathered light into her hand and shot it out, damaging and blinding the chicken man.
"Ba gawk! My eyes!" The girls turned to each other and smirked, getting confident that they could win this.
Over on the other side, Yamazo was taking on the tans with his sword.
"Oriental Solid Script: Zan!" The goat man slashed his sword in the air, a string of kanji's going along with it that formed a giant wind slash. Gajeel blocked it with his armor, but it was still strong enough to put a dent in it and push him back. Ymir used her gear to dodge the spell and went for an aerial attack. She covered her swords in blue magic and went down to slice Yamazo back.
"Oriental Solid Script: Bo!" Another kanji was formed, this time being big enough to act as a shield that Ymir couldn't cut through.
'What! Why's my magic not working?!' Ymir tried to slashed through the symbol, but she was pushed back instead when it canceled.
"Nice try, girly! But that's not enough!" Yamazo shouted. Ymir grunted at the taunt.
Before she could try anything, Gajeel ran up to attack the invader on his own.
"Iron Dragon Sword!" Gajeel transformed his arm into a giant metal sword with spikes attached to the edge and clashed with Yamazo. The two continuously attacked each other, not getting an advantage over the other. Tired of the stalemate, Gajeel activated the chainsaw function of his sword and the blades started rotating, catching the goat man off-guard. The feature helped turn things in the Dragon Slayer's favor and he overpowered Yamazo, pushing him back and slamming him into a tree.
Yamazo grunted furiously as he got up, his partner feeling the same way. With newfound fury, the dark mages relentlessly attacked the group to the point where they could barely keep up. Gajeel was taking heavy hits despite his armor, Ymir was trying to disable their foe's magic with little success, and Krista and Levy were constantly hopping all over the place to avoid Kawazu's eggs. But it wasn't enough as the huge quantities of eggs overwhelmed the girls and they were attacked relentlessly.
The two hunters looked at the four who had all taken heavy damage. "If the guild and their little chums are as weak as these four, we may be able to take them all down before the main forces arrive." Yamazo said to his partner.
"Let's take them all down." Kawazu proposed. Gajeel heard this and clawed the ground, trying to get himself back up.
There's more of you scumbags?" Gajeel groaned.
"This one's still clucking away." Kawazu noted. The goat samurai chuckled.
"We're merely the reconnaissance team. The rest of Grimoire Heart will be arriving shortly." Everyone's eyes widened at the statement.
"What? The rest of the guild?" Levy said, tears being formed in her eyes.
"We're already having enough trouble with these two bastards, what's the rest of them like?" Ymir questioned.
"Are we really gonna make it through this? These aren't like the Titans, they're much worse." Krista squeaked.
"Levy, you need to take Krista and get out of here!" Gajeel stated. The girls looked at him in shock.
"This isn't some simple fight. It's much more than that!"
"What?! What about you?" Levy shouted.
"You need to get out of here! Tell the others what's going on!" Gajeel said.
"Don't worry about Levy, we'll be fine, but you two need to go warn the others. The rest of us saw what happened on the video lacrimas. We can handle these guys." Ymir concluded.
"But Ymir." Krista tried to plead.
"We're fine, just go!" Ymir commanded.
"You're not going anywhere!" Yamazo tried to attack them, but Gajeel stopped him with another club before he could do so. Krista hesitated before looking over to Levy. They nodded and left the battle. But not before Levy left something to help them out.
"Solid Script: Iron!" Levy said. The word "iron" appeared, with the "O" shaped like a heart. The word fell in front of him as he looked at the contents. Ymir smirked at the little detail of the spell, then turned at their enemies.
'Stay strong please.' Levy thought, covering her mouth as she kept running.
'Don't die on us.' Krista said in her mind
Gajeel grabbed the word and began munching on it like it was a sandwich. Yamazo and Kawazu were disappointed in letting two of them get away, but said that hunting them down would be even more fun.
They were snapped out of their little discussion as Gajeel punched the ground with his fist.
"You guys made a big mistake in messing with Fairy Tail. I know, because I did the same thing." Gajeel recounted his past hostile relationship with the guild, being a part of a rival guild that terrorized them and being a different, more malicious man back then, and how he paid the price for it.
Ymir stared at him, then turned to their foes.
"I'm not really a team player myself. But I'm not about to let you hurt my Krista for your sick hunting game. You go after her, and you're a dead man!" Ymir snarled. Gajeel laughed maniacally.
"Are you ready?" The two mages took a step back in fear. The Dragon Slayer stood there, giving a cold, iron-piercing glare.
"You're about to find out just how bad you screwed up." Meanwhile, the girls were running as fast as they could, Krista trying to conserve her gear's gas for later.
'I gotta let everyone else know we're in big trouble. The Scouts may know about Grimoire Heart, but the rest of the guild doesn't know about them yet! Grimoire Heart is gonna be here any minute now and I don't know what they want from us, but things are about to get really scary!' Levy thought. She almost tripped until Krista caught her.
"Levy! You're alright." The bluenette didn't answer her, but Krista could tell she was alright, but tired.
"Hang on!" Carrying her on her back, Krista started traveling the woods using her gear, Levy hanging on tight.
'Hold on Gajeel, Ymir.' Levy thought tiredly.
"You ready, rust bucket?" Ymir asked.
"I'm more than ready freckles." Gajeel responded, taking in a deep breath.
"Iron Dragon Roar!" A large torrent of shrapnel and air went at the goat man, but he didn't seem to be bothered by the attack.
"Oriental Solid Script: Bo!" Yomazu swung his sword and another kanji was formed, this time being used as a barrier to defend against his opponent's breath attack. While he did that, Kawazu appeared behind him, ready to unleash another egg barrage.
"Oh, I don't think so, chicken!" Ymir roared, using her ODM gear to fly up and reach his location. Her ODM blades were cloaked in her Wave magic and with one slash, Kawazu let out a painful caw as he fell to the ground, Ymir landing on her feet.
Gajeel smirked at the back up. Once his roar was done, the Dragon Slayer rushed up to Yomazu and he brought up his right leg.
"Iron Dragon Lance!" Gajeel's leg turned into a metal lance and he swiped it to the left, forcing Yomazu to block it with his katana, but the force behind the spell was too much and was kicked over to the, having a big cut from the blade.
The two dark mages got back up from their wounds, still raring to go. The wizards grunted at their enemies' endurance.
The two animal-human hybrids decided to stop fooling around. They sent barrages of attacks at their respective opponents. Gajeel and Ymir could barely defend themselves, the former doing his best to block and protect himself while the latter tried to dodge and dispel the enemy's magic, but it wasn't enough. It got to the point where Yomazu stabbed his katana right through Gajeel's arm, causing him to grunt in pain. The two struggled to gain dominance, but neither as budging, although Gajeel could feel his strength start to dwindle.
"Gajeel!" Ymir cried out. She turned around, only to find Kawazu lunging at her and grabbing her by the neck, lifting her up as he started straggling her, Ymir trying her best to get out of his grip.
"Game over, you'll now be our first catch in this year's hunting season!" Yomazo said gleefully, a cruel smile on his face.
Gajeel grunted. Ymir wasn't doing so hot either as Kawazu was cackling evilly. The two struggled, not willing to give up and die here.
"Maybe I could, no I can't" Ymir thought about revealing a trick under her sleeve, but she couldn't risk Gajeel's safety with him so close. Plus, showcasing "that" would bring about a new set of problems that she doesn't want to deal with now.
"Erza! Juvia!" The two wizards looked up to see a flying figure looking to be carrying something on their back.
"Krista?" Erza inquired.
"And that's Levy." Krista landed roughly, falling on her rear when the girls checked up on them.
"My word, what happened to you two?" Erza said, worried.
"How did you manage to get such awful injuries?" Juvia gasped, holding her hand to her mouth.
"We're under attack! We saw them on the lacrima vision. The dark guild! We have to warn everyone!" Krista gasped.
"We're in real trouble, and they need help." Levy added.
The wizard and the soldier were still struggling, Gajeel's club being cracked slowly as Yamazo continued to push his blade in with a sinister grin, while Kawazu laughed cheerfully as he continued to crush Ymir's windpipe.
'Taking on Fairy Tail like this. These idiots are just as thick-headed as I was.'
The Dragon Slayer thought about his past. How he used to be in a former legal guild that borders on being a dark one due to its actions. How Master Makarov offered him a path on a new tomorrow like his fellow guildmate Juvia, and how he took it. The revelation dawned on him, making him remember that he was a Fairy Tail wizard now, a new purpose to strive for and be worth protecting.
'It was just like this.' Ymir said internally.
Ymir had similar thoughts. Being orphaned, despised by the population, being worshiped as a goddess by a cult that resulted in her current name. How she willingly took the blame after being scapegoated by the cult. The consequence that came with it.
She was given a second chance and took it without a second thought. She decided that she would live for herself and nobody else. It may be selfish, but people have taken advantage of her selflessness and Ymir was sick of it. Then she found Krista. Although nearly every male in their class was swooned by her, Ymir felt a different connection with the girl. She may not care that much about everything, but she can always depend on her angel.
With that resolve, the two allies from different organizations retaliated. Gajeel broke his club, revealing the iron arm underneath as Yamazo's blade was grabbed by him. Yamazo gasped at the action.
"I'll never be defeated. Not gonna happen, I'm not gonna lose to scum like you!" Ymir was shocked at the man's declaration and determination. "Because, I'm a Fairy Tail wizard!" Gajeel grabbed the blade and broke it in half.
"No, not my katana! My soul is in that blade!"
He took the sword in his arm and devoured it. Ymir gritted her teeth as she headbutted Kawazu in the beak, releasing his grip on her. His claws scratched her neck, leaving behind deep wounds, but it didn't bother her.
"What is this!" Kawazu shouted.
A huge amount of magic gathered in Gajeel's location. With his enemy in sights, he struck.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art:" Gajeel put his hands together above his head and from it, a tall iron sword radiating with power formed, surpassing the height of the surrounding trees.
"Karmic Demon: Iron God Sword!" The black-haired man swung the giant sword down and it clashed with Yomazo, taking him out instantly as he tried to run away futilely.
Ymir gathered her magic and from it, transferred it to her blades.
"Wave: Repulsion!" She flew forward, using her gears hooks and the trees to slingshot toward Kawazu. The chicken man gasped and tried to attack her with more eggs, but that didn't stop her. In fact, when the eggs made contact with her blades, the force from the magic was thrown back right at the mage, but the power was doubled. Kawazu was shocked as his own barrage was being used against him, and with one final blow, Ymir finished him off by slashed with her swords.
The two mages fell to their knees, panting heavily from the fight they just finished. But they knew they couldn't rest; this was only the beginning.
"Hey freckles, you alright-" Gajeel stopped for a moment when he saw the wounds on Ymir's neck being healed, extremely fast. Soon, it was like she wasn't clawed at, curiously steam was coming off where the claw marks used to be.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Ymir replied, chuckling a little. She turned to Gajeel and saw the shocked look on his face. "What's wrong?" Ymir asked, her eyebrow raising. Gajeel got out of his stupor and shook his head.
"Nothing." Ymir figured that wasn't the case, but decided not to push it.
"Gajeel, Ymir!"
"We're glad you're alright!"
The two looked up to see the girls back, with Juvia and Erza along with them. The new arrivals were stunned at the damage to the surrounding area. The girls ran towards their respective comrades.
"Told you I'd handle those chumps didn't I?" Gajeel jokes. Levy smiled tearfully. "Yeah, you did."
Ymir coughed painfully, while Krista began to heal her. "I was so worried." Krista said. Ymir looked over to her. "I'm fine Krista. Let's get married after this." She grinned. The blonde smiled warmly as she healed her wounds.
They heard laughing as they looked over to see Yamazo still conscious from the attack.
"You fools, you don't stand a chance. Our main fighting force is right on our heels. Wizards whose power far exceeds my own. The Seven Kin of Purgatory."
"We have to put the trial on hold." Erza summoned a magic flare from her dimension pocket. "Right now, prepare for battle." She discharged the flare and it lit up in the sky. "Condition Red, we shall intercept them at once!"
"What an enemy attack? Who dares invade our sacred ground?" Makarov asked no one. Everyone else who saw the flare questioned about its appearance and if the trials should be on hold.
Erza equipped her usual armor. "So know what? What do you think we should do?" Juvia asked.
"First thing we need to do is locate Mest and Wendy, I'm afraid they may be lost and unable to find our base camp." Erza replied. Levy and Krista came over, carrying Gajeela and Ymir on their shoulders respectively.
"We'll take Gajeel and Ymir, and meet you over there in a bit." Levy answered. Erza thanked her while Gajeel tried to tell her not she doesn't have to do this, having Levy answering him back that he can't make it on his own.
"You there, speak!" Erza threatened Yamazo. He refused, which proved to be a big mistake when Erza knocked him on the head, resulting in a big bump.
"We seek him. The legendary Black Wizard known as Zeref." Yomazu revealed, shocking the two women.
"He's here, on this very island."
"But that's absurd." Erza argued.
"How can that be true? I thought Zeref lived hundred of years ago, didn't he?" Juvia stated.
"Four hundred years." Yamazo corrected.
"You fool, Zeref is long since dead!" Erza shouted, remembering an ordeal her old friend Jellal was involved in where he tried that very thing.
Yamazo tells them that Zeref was never dead, only asleep. They plan to awaken him and cover the world in darkness. Juvia and Erza tried to disprove his words, but he warns that his Master and the Seven Kin are on their way to the shores of the island, and that one of them is already here.
The red flare was seen by everyone on the island, including the Scouts.
"We have to go, now!" Levi urged. Erwin nodded.
"Soldiers! Move out! Locate the guild members and stand by their side. This enemy is not like the ones we face at home. Use everything you have to survive!" Erwin shouted. The scouts followed his orders. The soldiers used their ODM gear to traverse the strange ecosystem, forming groups and using their gear to help easily find the Fairy Tail wizards.
Over on another side of the island, Wendy and Mest saw the flare. Wendy tried to ask him what he meant, but he just gnawed at the rock while he tried to figure out what it meant.
'I need to act now, before the main forces arrive.' He thought.
"Wendy!" The two looked up to see Carla and Lily flying overhead.
"Huh, what are you doing here?" Wendy asked.
"Nevermind that, just get away from him!" Carla shouted back. The exceeds landed, standing protectively in front of the girl.
"All right! Why don't you cut the act and tell us who you really are!" She said, point at the man.
"Uh" Mest said nervously. "What the heck do you mean by that? I'm Mystogan's pupil remember-" Mest stopped in shock when a fist punched the location right next to his head.
"I find it hard to believe that my prince would take on a pupil in this world." Lily said, transforming into his battle mode. "Now you're smart enough to use someone who doesn't live here anymore to back up your story. But are you gonna be smart enough to tell us the truth?" He interrogated.
"Who are you, and what are you trying to hide?" Wendy tried to defend her partner for the trial, but Carla told her to stay out of it.
Lily grilled Mest, saying that he assumes that he has a type of magic that can manipulate memories, and how many things about him didn't make any sense, like him being Mystogan's (a former S-Class mage of Fairy Tail that is now a ruler of a kingdom) pupil, and how he gave himself away by not knowing the meaning of the guild's emergency flare, something that even the Scouts knew about due to being a military unit.
Mest narrowed his eyes as he disappeared. He teleported in front of Wendy, shocking everyone. He grabbed Wendy and pulled her close to him. "Get down!"
An explosion appeared, making Lily grab Carla and use his Aera magic to form wings as he flew out of the blast range. He looked over and saw Mest teleporting with Wendy in his arms. Lily flew over to him.
"What's going on over here?!" More explosions ranged out, separating the four.
'He protected her? But why?' Carla thought in shock.
"Who are you?! Show yourself?!" Mest shouted angrily. They looked to see a lone tree where the trail of explosions was coming from. From it, a face formed complimenting them on their senses.
"The tree attacked us?" Carla wondered.
"Out! Come and face us!" The face emerged more from the tree. "I'm from Grimoire Heart. Name's Azuma." He introduced. "I'm one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory."
"Grimoire Heart?"
"A dark guild." Wendy and Carla spoke respectively. Mest realized that's what the flare was for.
The face emerged further from the tree, now taking on a more completed shape from the torso upwards. "A bit late to be worrying about your friends."
Pantherlily growled. "How dare you? What exactly is going on here?"
Mest then revealed who he really is: A member of the Magic Council sent to Tenrou Island to look for dirt on Fairy Tail so that they could finally be disbanded, shocking everyone.
Mest mentions how fortunate that Grimoire Heart showed up since there were battleships ready, excited at the opportunity to take down one of the Balam Alliance's top three Dark Guilds. However, the dark mage easily explodes the ships far away with his magic, revealing more of his body to the point where only his feet were touching the tree. The mages couldn't believe the destruction they just witnessed.
Over on the other side, the scouts were able to faintly hear them.
"An explosion?" Eld wondered
"They must have already gotten to the island." Petra said.
The mages were still in shock of how Azuma could've killed all those people and the power he wielded to do it. Lily couldn't take anymore and charged at the man, who stared at him blankly.
"Levy." He held out his hand, and an enormous pulse of magic energy erupted from it, consuming Lily entirely. The panther took the hit, but countered with an uppercut.
From there, a battle commenced and Azuma showed why he was chosen to be one of the seven. Despite their best efforts and Wendy using her Sky Dragon Slayer Magic to increase Lily's capabilities and urging Mest to put aside his petty reasons for taking down Fairy Tail and to help them, Azuma took them all down quickly when they attempted a sneak attack from behind by blowing up the entire area around him. The scouts were able to see the pillar from their location.
"Damn another one?" Gunther spoke.
"How many of these bastards are there?' Oruo complained.
Natsu and Happy rush forward to their comrades, having heard the explosions elsewhere. Natsu interrogates Mest, whose Memory Magic has now worn off, question is he was the one that attacked their friends. Wendy tells Natsu that it wasn't Mest, but that he is a member of the Magic Council, shocking the best friends.
Carla tells the two about Grimoire Heart attacking, only to look up and see a humanoid goat with a jet pack releasing strange, orange bubbles. When the bubbles pop, they show that there were actually members of the Dark Guild inside of them, surrounding the group and preventing their escape.
Makarov was standing in front of the First Masters' grave.
"Mavis, did you ever find yourself in this situation, because I wonder how you would've handled it? I bet you're so angry, you're spinning in your grave right now. I've allowed the enemy to tread upon our guild's sacred ground. I assume full responsibility, and I will pay the price, rest assured of that. However, I ask this of you. Keep them safe.
He looks up to see the battleship that dared to attack their land. Turning into his Giant Form, he stands before the battleship with glowing yellow eyes that promise pain if they do anything to endanger his guild or Tenrou. Six of the Seven Kin are shocked by his power, but Hades tells them to disappear.
The soldiers looked to see the gargantuan form of Makarov from a distance.
"Damn, is that Master Makarov!" Jean yelled.
"I didn't think he had this power." Sasha added. Bertolt looked at the giant old man and gulped.
Makarov attacked the ship, causing them to tumble and fly a little to the side forcefully. The guild master attempts another attack, but the ship's speed is increased, dodging the blow. They fire a cannon at the old man, which he blocks by crossing his arms. Using her magic, Ultear repairs the damages on the ship and she along with the rest of the Kin and all the soldiers go with Capricorn.
Makarov put his arms together, open palms facing towards each other in a vertical stance facing opposite directions as a yellow, light orb began forming in between them.
"I'm going to give you the count of three." He warned.
"1"...
"2"...
"3"...
Just as Makarov was about to cast the spell, Hades appeared on top of his aerial warship and warned him not to try it, casting his own, but shockingly similar spell to Makarov's own. The old man stared in shock as he recognized the spell… and the man casting it.
"Master Pr-Precht?!" Makarov couldn't believe his eyes. The enemy that was attacking his guild and children, was the second master of Fairy Tail?! Hades didn't respond. He created two magical chains from his hands and using his enhanced strength, instantly lifted Makarov over his head like it was nothing. The giant-powered man landed on the shore of the island with a loud crash, the impact causing tremendous pain to the elderly.
Makarov reverts to his original form and gets on his feet as Hades approaches him. He asks him why he's in a Dark Guild, only for Hades to brush him off as he states that nothing in this world can be entirely expressed as good or evil. The third guild master tells him that he doesn't want to fight him, Hades replying that it will only slightly crush his heart that he will have to crush Fairy Tail.
Makarov attacks him with beams of light, telling him that he won't touch Fairy Tail. Hades blocks them effortlessly, using his dark shield not only to defend himself, but send the beams right back at his shorter opponent. Hades begins casting a spell known as "Amaterasu: Formula 28", trapping his apprentice in a force-field. Makarov escapes this, but Hades uses his Chain Magic to fling him over his head once again. He crashes the man through the environment before slamming him into the ground.
With his foe weakened, Hades casts Amaterasu again and this time, it goes through. Makarov tries to retaliate with his own spell known as "Three Pillar Gods", but it's ineffective now that Hades's spell is in full effect, an explosion occurring. Makarov is still standing from the impact, but you could tell he was clearly in pain. Hades compliments him, having expected something like that after entrusting the guild to Makarov forty-eight years ago. The third master tries to reason with his former master, telling him that he kept the peace for many years and has always taught them about peace and the proper path. Makarov could only ask what happened to his former master.
Hades looks at him, then strikes him with his fist. He tells the younger elderly that he was going back to the roots of all magic and the "Quintessence of Magic". He walks away as he tells his former pupil to sleep as Fairy Tail will now become faded history. Makarov gets up and tries to attack him, but Hades turns around and attacks him with a magic line that has the impact of a bullet forming from his fingers that pierces the guild master in his chest.
The man falls down to the ground, no longer having the strength to get back up again. Hades walks away from him, determined to continue his plan.
Erwin notices the light coming from a part of the island. He looks over to Levi and nods his head, his subordinate returning the gesture.
"Scouts, split!"
With that, the Scouts finally head out, having an idea of where to go now from all the chaos they heard and seen. The Special Ops Squad headed out to where the Strauss Sisters were at, while their leader and Commander Erwin went to check up on Makarov, who from what they saw is in critical condition. Hange and Mike went over to Erza's and Juvia's location along with Moblit.
As for the cadets, Reiner, Annie, and Bertolt went to help Elfman and Evergreen. Jean went with Sasha and Connie to help Lucy and Gray, and their partners for the trial. Looking at each other and nodding, Armin and Mikasa ran over to where Natsu, Wendy, and the Exceeds were at. The one thing that everyone knew in their minds was that.
The battle has begun.

Authors Note:
Happy Halloween everybody! I was hoping I could get this chapter out today as a little bonus since it's the season and I'm glad I was able to.
So Grimoire attacked and the battle between guilds have begun. I'm looking forward to the fights and the stuff in between. Really wanna nail down the character interactions and how they shape each other, as well as little notices of character development.
I'm also excited to show the Survey Corps (and Annie) their magic powers and what've they been doing for the past months.
I'll be honest. I wanted to do better last chapter, but I have a big procrastination problem and I end up having to do things at the last minute. Despite that, I wanna do better, and if necessary, I'm going to go back to previous chapters to fix them. I'm hoping to improve as I continue this.
Also, I decided to skip over the canon fights and give brief descriptions as to save time and not be redundant. From now on, I'll only be writing fights that are going to be changed or added from the anime in both shows unless it's necessary.
Just a heads up. The next chapter won't be coming for a while. I'm a college student right now and I have a lot of work that needs to get done. I'll make sure to get at least one chapter out next month, maybe around Thanksgiving break. Until then, later
And once again: Happy Halloween everyone!
