My thoughts were interrupted by Dagur laughing maniacally. "Isn't this exciting? What will they choose, ladies and gentlemen? Saving their friends or capture their mortal enemy, their brother?" He laughed.
'Screw it! I should always put my friends and family first above all else!' I roared mentally in my head following my brother to save our friends.
I watched my brothers leave to go save their pathetic friends and I felt disappointed. "Hmm. Disappointing, but all-so-typically Hiccup. Matt? Seems he struggled a bit but also typical that he would choose his boring friends." I said before walking way to the front of the ship. Before I left I turned to one of my soldiers. "Fire another boulder. I want to see the surprise on my brothers' faces as we give them a 'rocky' surprise. Hahaha!" I ordered with a laugh as he saluted and went off. This is going to be good.
"Get us out of here! Hiccup, Matt, help!" Our friends yelled for help as the boat continued to sink. We approached the entrance of the cage and we charged our blasts. "Move back from the door! Toothless, Matt, plasma blast." Hiccup ordered as we blasted the cage door but to our shock it didn't make a scratch. "Dragon-proof bars?" Fishlegs says shocked before acting excited. "Oh, fascinating." I grabbed the cage door and tried to slash it with my claws but nothing. "I knew these cages were dragon-proof!" I growled as Hiccup observed the cage for weaknesses. "Whoever built this ship really knew what they were doing." He says as the ship rocks to the side and Snotlout is tossed onto Fishlegs before the ship rocks to the other side and Fishleg is tossed onto Snotlout. "Oh, you know what would be more fascinating? Getting us out of here!" Snotlout yelled as I couldn't help make a joke. "Just like a pet. Caged and annoying." I joked, causing him to groan in frustration.
"We need to blast this door open!" Toothless roared as he fired two more plasma shots but, again, they didn't do anything. "We need more firepower." Hiccup says before turning to the trap gang. "Guys, dragon calls!" He says as everyone does dragon calls. I was about to join the calls when I heard loud hissing and looked down to find the giant eels emerging from the water, squirming to reach us. "AAAHHHH! GIANT EELS!" I roared terrified as I blasted one as it hissed. "Why did it have to be giant eels?!" Snotlout yells terrified as me and Toothless fired at the eels. "When we get out of here, I am going to wring Johann's neck!" I roared before I spotted Hiccup's prosthetic leg being grabbed by one of the eels. "Toothless! Hiccup needs help!" I roared as Toothless spotted the eel and fired, freeing Hiccup. "Thanks bud." Hiccup says as he takes off his prosthetic leg and uses it to try to open the door.
"Uhh! Hookfang! Help us! I'm important!" Snotlout yelled as Ruffnut did the same. "Barf, Belch, get your butts over here!" She yelled. "Stormfly!" Astrid yelled. We were getting closer to the eels and me and Toothless were about to use another plasma blast but nothing came out. Toothless is out of shots and I'm too afraid to focus my Fury's Fire! "I'm calling the others!" Toothless roared as he started calling for our dragon friends. I started to hear a sound from a bit to my left and I turned and looked up to find a boulder coming straight at us! Dagur launched a boulder at us! "BOULDER INCOMING!" I roared as everyone gasped and braced for impact but just before it hit us, a plasma blast hits it and completely destroyed it before a black shape flew in front of where it used to be.
"Wolf!" I roared in joy as our savior was no other than my dragonic half as he hovers in front of me. "Sorry for the late entrance! I was trying to find you when I flew into our fellow dragon friends!" He purrs as my friends' dragons appear. I was so happy to see them that I barely noticed Hiccup finally unlocked the cage but because of the ship being vertical they all fall out and clinging onto each other and the opened door. Tuffnut's feet were being held by Astrid while he was upside down. "Ahh. That was great." He says holding Hiccup's prosthetic leg before a couple of eels comes out and tries to attack him. "Aah! No! Aah!" He yells using Hiccup's prosthetic as a weapon before being saved by Barf and Belch. "Oh, so now you show up." He says, not liking the fact he almost died before everyone got on their dragons and flew up high, away from the eels.
"That was too close." Fishlegs said relieved as I laughed. "That's the last time I'm searching a graveyard of ships with you all." I said as everyone chuckled before Astrid turned to Hiccup. "Hiccup, what are we doing?" She asked. "That's a question I've been asking myself since Hiccup first became a rider." I joked as Toothless rolled his eyes. "You guys go back to Berk. I'm going after Dagur. Whatever that cylinder-looking thing is, I know one thing for sure…" "It doesn't belong in his hands. I'm coming with you. Brothers stick together." I finished as Hiccup nodded and started flying towards Dagur's ship.
I was staring at the strange artifact I stole from my brothers. "Amazing. I've never seen anything quite like this." I said observing the cylindrical object. "Me neither. What do you suppose it is?" The idiot, Savage, asked. I turned to him to anger of that stupid question. "Don't ask ridiculous questions, Savage!" I then started to get excited. "Just know this… it's mine now, all mine! Hahaha!" I laughed, shaking the object excitedly before looking at the cylindrical object again. "Now, what exactly is it that you do? Tell Dagur, now. That's it. Don't be afraid. Tell Daddy Dagur." I says comforting to the object even though it isn't a person but an object. I really am deranged. HAHAHA!
"Uh, Dagur?" Savage asked, pointing at something that I wasn't aware of. I growled and turned to him again. "Uhh! What now!? Another stupid question!?" I yelled as I raised my arm, holding the object ready to swing. "More of an observation." He says and I was about to ask before I felt the object I was holding being grabbed from my grip. "Thank you kindly." Hiccup says as he flies off while Matt makes a raspberry at me. "See ya, Dagur!" He laughed while flying off as well. I looked at my now empty hands and screamed. "Aah! Aah!" I yelled as one of my crew members tried to shoot down the night furies but they escaped. Out of anger, I threw one of my crew members overboard before turning to the other one who jumped into the water immediately.
I turned back to Savage and approached him slowly. "See what you did? You distracted me." I accused him and took a hold of him. "And now my pretty, cylindrical, mysterious object is gone." I said before turning to where my brothers have gone. "Good for you, Hiccup and Matt! But I got all the gold! You hear me? All the gold! All! The! Gold!" I laughed pushing Savage onto the ground. "You know, you can never have nice things around those two." I said calmly while stepping on Savage. I'll get that thing back. I will.
Once we returned back to Berk, we took the cylindrical object right to Gobber who was straining to get it open. "Have you ever seen anything like this Dragon Eye before?" Hiccup asked as Tuffnut looked at him strangely. "Dragon Eye? How do you know it's called a Dragon Eye?" He asked as Hiccup looked at him blankly. "Because I named it." He replied. "That's a good name." I replied as Snotlout shook his hands. "Whoa, whoa. Aren't we supposed to vote on stuff like that?" He asked as Hiccup rolled his eyes. "Fine. All in favour, say 'Dragon Eye'." He says raising his hands. "Dragon Eye!" Everyone including me and Wolf said while raising our hands or paw in Wolf's case. Snotlout stared at us before replying, "Just wanted to make sure we voted."
We turned back to Gobber who was still straining to get the Dragon Eye open. "Can you open it, Gobber." Wolf asked with a snort. Gobber was still straining as he chuckled. "'Can I open it?' Dragon, I once opened a 500-year-old giant clam at the bottom of the ocean with my bare hook." He says gesturing to his hook. "Can I open it? Ha! I think it's going to be…" A click was heard. "Huh. Aha." He says before a dart shoots out of the Dragon Eye and hits Tuffnut in the chest. "Ugh. What is that? That looks like a…" He didn't continue his sentence after passing out as Ruffnut laughs at his predicament. "Well, that was… something, maybe." Gobber mused as he continued struggling but Hiccup and me started to get worried. "Gobber, maybe you shouldn't…" "That thing can't be opened easily and looks like its booby trapped…" Hiccup and you say but Gobber waved us off. "Trust me. I'm… it's all right." He says before green gas sprays out of the Dragon Eye. "Cover your mouths!" You say as everyone covers their mouths that when Tuffnut woked up. "I'm okay. I got hit with something, but now…" He took a sniff and changed his mind. "No, scratch that." He says before falling down and starts spasming. "We need to get to Gothi." Wolf says as everyone completely agreed.
Once we got to Gothi's hut, she shoved some medicine into Tuffnut's mouth. Tuffnut hacks and gulps before starting itching his teeth. "My teeth are itching. My teeth are itchy." He says, muffled by itching his teeth. Gothi writes on the ground and I translate. "She says that's good. Means its working." I translated as Tuffnut continues to itch his teeth. "Thank you, Gothi. We really appreciate this." Hiccup says as Toothless looks at Tuffnut. "He's going to be fine?" He purrs in concern as you nod. "He'll be fine. Itchy teeth but fine." You replied giving him a scratch.
Gobbe continues to fiddle with the Dragon eye before i see Gothi's eyes widen when she points at a… keyhole on the Dragon Eye? Why didn't I saw that? She turns away, troubled and Hiccup asks her what's wrong. Her response was pointing at a scar on her arm before walking away. That scar looked familiar but where did I see it before. My thoughts were interrupted when Hicccup started speaking. "Gothi… Her… Her scar… it matches the keyhole." He says shocked as Fishlegs joined in. "Yeah, and it looks like a dragon bite to me." He says as I joined in. "That was a bite alright. It had a familiar shape but I don't know where from." I said as Gobber nodded. "Oh, it is. But she doesn't like to talk about it." He says as Fishlegs spoke. "She doesn't like to talk about anything." He says blankly.
"Oh, that's why she writes in the dirt with her stick. I thought that was just her thing." Tuffnut says continuing itching his teeth as we started to walk away. Gobber stopped us though. "Where are you going?" He asked as we turned back to Gobber. "After her of course. We need to find out of what dragon caused that scar. It's the key to opening the Dragon Eye." I said as Gobber smirked. "Hold on. I have ways of making her. Well… scribble, anyway." He says chuckling while I rolled my eyes. "He's going to make his home-made yak noodle soup." I say as Wolf spoke mentally in my head. "Soup? That won't work." He growled.
"Forget I said anything." He crooned in bewilderment as we watch Gothi downs all the soup. "Ho ho! She downed that like a yak in a heat wave. That makes sense, right?" Fishlegs asked as I snorted. "It certainly does not." "More like a pack of Scauldrons eating a school of fish." Wolf commented in my head, taking a little rest. Hiccup soon talked to Gothi. "Now, tell me about this bite mark." He says as Gothi starts writing as Gobber translate. "When I was a turkey neck…" Gobber was interrupted when Gothi hit him with her stick. "Ow! Teenager. Sorry. I had a longing to climb Glacier Island to find pure glacial water known for its healing properties, thanks to the legends of how Shifters used it to heal one another." I was surprised that some of my kind in legends used pure glacial water to heal one another. Wonder what other legends they're are. "So, I went with two vegetables." Gobber continued but was again hit by Gothi. "Ow! Vikings. Sorry. I'm a bit rusty." He chuckles as Gothi continues to write. "We had only been at the summit for a few hours when we were hit by a terrible snowstorm. That's when they attacked." I imagine a snowstorm surrounding a young Gothi and her companions.
"It was vicious. Relentless. And impossible to see in the storm." I now imagine Gothi being cornered by the dragon. "The Snow Wraith and its rider." Gobber translated as me and the others were shocked. A rider!? "I'll never know why it didn't finish me off that day or why the rider left me alone. I left knowing only one thing… that I never wanted to smooch that dragon or its rider again. Smooch?" Gothi hits him again. "Ow! See! Never wanted to see them again. You know, your drawing ain't what it used to be, old woman." Gobber stated before Gothi prepared to hit him again. "But your swing, strong as ever!" He quickly replied. "Gothi, a tooth from the Snow Wraith is the key to unlocking the Dragon Eye. You have to help us find it." Hiccup says as Gothi frowns and scribbles in the dirt looking at me for translation. I read it and instantly denied. "I can't say that to him. He's the Chief's son and my adopted brother!" I say in shock. "What did she write?" Toothless purred curiously. "You don't want to know." I growled as we looked back at Gothi as she rewrote in the dirt. "She says, no way she's ever going back." I translated. "And besides, Berk needs her. She's right, Hiccup. She's the best healer we've got." I say.
"Well, Gobber can cover for you." Hiccup says as I look at him weirdly. "You're kidding right?" I say, thinking if Hiccup was serious or not. "Huh? Oh, well, uh, of course, I can. I've watched Gothi work so many times, I know this place like the back of my hand." He says lifting up his hook before noticing it wasn't his hand and put the other up, chuckling. Gothi didn't look convinced, however Hiccup didn't give up. "You remember the viciousness of the Snow Wraith. I get that. But you also remember how it was to be my age, to want to explore, to need to see what else is out there. To get answers to questions you haven't even asked yet." Hiccup then showed the Dragon eye to her. "This will help me do all of that. But only… only if you help me unlock it."
Gothi stood their silent but soon smiled in approval and tapped her walking stick to the ground. "Sweet! But quick question, what about the rider? I don't think he or she will like it if we try to get the tooth from his dragon." You say as Hiccup shrugs. "I guess we'll figure it out as we go." He replied as everyone started getting on their dragons and fly off to Glacier island.
While we were flying, me and the dragons started talking to each other. "Why are we flying to a cold mountain again?" Stormfly asked me a third time. "To get a tooth." I say irritated by the same question. "Don't Night Furies hate the cold?" Meatlug asked as I snort. "If we were we wouldn't be living on Berk." I said as Barf and Belch gilded right next to me. "What do you think about this rider?" "Yeah and how are we going to fight them?" Barf and Belch growled in confusion as thought for a bit. Who could this rider be? "I don't know. I never heard about this rider before but what I do know is that we are many while they are two. We can take them." I purred before we spotted the island. It was big. Bigger than any island I seen before.
"Look at the size of that island." Hiccup say in awe of the size. "Do you think we can put lots of steaming chocolate sauce on top of it and turn it into a dessert." I joked with a laugh. Fishlegs started getting excited about meeting a new dragon. I would be too if I haven't met the dragon in question before. "Oh! The Book of Dragons mentions the Snow Wraith but doesn't have any information on it. Can you believe this? A brand-new dragon. It's been so long, I've forgotten what this feeling is." I looked at him in amusement. "Sorry. Excited about the new dragon." He says as I chuckle. "You mean the dragon that single-handedly wiped out Gothi's entire search party." Astrid asked with a raised eyebrow. "Don't forget about its rider." I added as Fishlegs started to have second thoughts. "That would be correct. So worth the long flight." He says nervously.
"Speak for yourself! Your neck hair's not covered in old lady drool!" Snotlout complained as we Gothi sleeping and drooling on Snotlout. 'He deserves it.' Wolf chortled as I laughed. Once we landed, I changed back to my human form and the others got off their dragons. "Nice place. Very 'chilling'." I say as Hiccup groaned. "Really?" He asked as Toothless chuckled at my choice of words. Snotlout gets off his dragon and lifts a hand to help Gothi off of Hookfang but when she holds his hand, Snotlout retracts it and causes Gothi to tumble down. "Snotlout." I yelled of how disrespectful he is to his elders. "Oh! Yak hands. Oh, I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" He asked sarcastically before laughing. I was going to hit him but Gothi put her stick behind his legs and made him trip and fall to the ground. "Fair enough." He groaned as I burst out laughing. "You know, we should bring along more often." Astrid said with a smirk as I continued laughing before I stopped and looked around. 'Something is watching us.' Wolf growled and I nodded. I can feel someone's eyes on me.
I watch as the intruders laughed at one of their own. I snorted. Served him right for treating his elder with disrespect. I turned my gaze to the intruder with black scale armor. I felt his power and soul and I knew what he is. "An Alpha Shifter." I growled in curiosity. What is a shifter doing with the intruders? Are they friends? Family? My thoughts were interrupted when my dragon companion growled to me. "They intrude upon our island. Let us get rid of them." He growled as I nod. "They are intruders but they come with dragons and a shifter." I mused as he growled in confusion. "Another of your kind is here?" He growled as I purred in affirmation. "Yes, Snow but for what reason I don't know." I growled before spotting the elder. She looked familiar, very familiar. "That elder. She came here before. She must have led these other intruders here to this island. Shows why you show mercy, they always come back to try again." I growled as I swung my staff and commanded the winds to blow harder and bring the snowstorm upon them. 'We attack?' My half spoke in my mind. 'Yes, let us see if they can prove themselves by surviving.' I growled, mounting Snowfang who is ready to attack the intruders. Let us see if the alpha shifter is powerful like they say.
"Great, just great! She's got nothin'. Someone else is wearing that bag of bones home. She's all knees and elbows." Snotlout complained after Gothi inspected the island a bit before shrugging. I was busy looking around but then I felt power in play as the wind howls and then we were inside a storm as we shield ourselves against it. "Can we please do something? My mouth is starting to freeze shut." Snotlout shivered as Astrid complained, "Don't get our hopes up." I laughed as she smirks at my amusement. "Well, then we should work fast to find this Snow Wraith. Because we're not leaving until we do." Hiccup yells in the howling storm. "Let's split up so we can cover more ground." Astrid suggested as I growled feeling eyes on me again. "Good idea. Dragon call if you come across anything." Hiccup says as we get on our dragons with Gothi with Snotlout who tried to leave without her. Unaware to us that the Snow Wraith and rider were right behind us, as the Snow Wraith opens its eyes and the rider growls.
I was alone flying above the ground and looked around only to find more snow and the storm blocking my view. That was when I heard a whoosh behind me only to find nothing there. 'We are being followed.' I growled to Wolf. 'yes, I know. He's observing us.' Wolf growled as I continued flying until I spotted the gang. "Anybody find anything?" I heard Hiccup asked as I landed. "All we found was some scattered yak bones." Ruffnut says as Tuffnut nodded in agreement before I spotted something peeking behind his back. "What's that?" I asked pointing at Tuffnut who froze. "I-It's a… yak bone?" He says lamely at the end as everyone turned to him.
"Alright! We found this near the yak bones." He says as he hands me the object. I looked at it and it seems to be a blade of source. "It's a dagger." Hiccup says as I nod before spotting some encryptions on the blade. "This is the language of the ancient shifters." I said pointing at the writing. "What does that mean?" Snotlout asks, confused. "It means one of my kind was here." I say putting the dagger away to the Twins disappointment.
"Well, I-I didn't see anything, but I had this weird feeling that something was watching me." Fishlegs says nervously and I felt eyes on me again. "I feel someone's watching me now." I mused causing Fishlegs to be more frightened. "Oh, I had a weird feeling, too. Like this old lady was stuck on my back." Snotlout complained as Gothi leaned her body to the side like Snotlout had two heads. Tuffnut screamed, "Aah! Two heads!" I turned to him with a blank expression. "Oh, sorry, guys. I mean, on you two, it works. I've seen it before. I'm used to it." He says to Barf and Belch as they turned to me as I shrugged.
Then the storm started getting more aggressive and my friends started shivering. I was unaffected because of me being a shifter and forming scales. "Hiccup, maybe we should get out of here. That looks like a huge storm." Astrid says, shaking in the cold. "No. We should dig in here and wait for the Snow Wraith and rider to show themselves. Remember, it likes to attack when you can't see it." Hiccup says stubbornly as Toothless purrs before spotting something and growled. "Toothless? What's wrong?" Hiccup asked when Snotlout spotted the same thing. "Hey? Is that a person?" He asked as we turned to where he's pointing at.
There was a man standing twenty feet away from us and holding a white staff. The man was covered in white scale armor and furs around his neck and shoulders. His face was covered in a helmet and a scale scarf only showing only his glowing blue eyes. "Hey! What are you doing here? Are you here to hunt the Snow Wraith too?" Tuffnut asked which was a terrible mistake. The man growled loud enough for us to hear and I said, "You had to say 'hunt the Snow Wraith' didn't you?" I say as the man roared and raised his staff before slamming it to the ground then the wind blew towards us and we were blinded by the storm.
"Use your dragons as extra protection from the wind!" Hiccup yelled as I noticed that the man was gone. "What was that!? How did he do that!?" Fishlegs yelled as I realized something. I pulled out the shifter blade and said, "The rider… he's a shifter!" I yelled as everyone gasped in shock before the Snow Wraith destroyed one of the tents that my friends made. "It's the Snow Wraith! Oh! I'm okay, I'm gonna be okay. I'm gonna be okay. Ohh!" Fishlegs says in fear as the Snow Wraith continues to attack us by blasting fire. "Hold your ground and fire back!" Hiccup yelled to us. "How! The Shifter is controlling the storm to hide the Snow Wraith and him from being spotted!" I yelled prepared to fire a plasma blast from my hand only to get hit in the back.
I turned to find the white armor shifter just disappearing into the storm. "The shifter is attacking from the ground! Watch the ground as well as the sky!" I yelled before pulling out my blade and struck behind me only for the white shifter to block it but the impact caused him to be blown a few feet but he quickly goes into the storm and out of sight.
Hiccup told us to get to cover but Snotlout was launched into a snow bank by the Snow Wraith's blast and Snow Wraith approached him but it was like it didn't see him. "Whoa." Hiccup say as the Snow Wraith roars trying to find Snotlout.
I turned to Snow to find him observing a snow bank. "What are you doing?" I growled, seeing his heat thanks to my thermal vision. "I thought I spotted one of the intruders in the snowbank!" He growled as I looked at the snowbank only to find no heat inside it. Cursed my shifter ability as a Snow Wraith. I have the eyesight of a Snow Wraith to detect heat but it got rid of my normal human sight. "The cold must blend him. Impressive." I mused before Snow was struck by the Night Fury. It was a warning shot, it didn't have a full blast to it. Snow fired back as he and I get back into the storm and the other intruders tried to fire us. Pathetic.
"Cease fire! Cease fire!" Hiccup yelled when we couldn't hit the Snow Wraith or the shifter. 'Nightshift! Used your senses to locate the dragon!' Wolf suggested as I focused. I felt my friends souls and I looked to find the Snow Wraith's soul coming at Astrid. "Astrid! Watch out!" I warned but the Snow Wraith knocked her off the cliff as I roared in fury. "You'll pay for that!" I roared as Hiccup got angry as well. "All right, I've had just enough of this dragon, bud. Do your thing." Hiccup says as Toothless echolocate the dragon and I echolocate the shifter. "Toothless, multiple blasts!" Hiccup ordered as Toothless blasted the Snow Wraith as I hit the shifter in the gut with the hilt of my blade as he holds it in pain. The shifter soon turns to the Snow Wraith. "Retreat Snow!" He roared as he commanded the storm to blind us as he and the dragon disappeared.
We looked around for any sign of them but found nothing. "I think they're gone." Hiccup says as he turns to us. "Everybody okay? Everybody here?" He asked in concerned as I see Astrid climbing back up. "Thank Noctis that you're ok Astrid." I said in relief as the Twins approached. "What do you mean by 'here'?" Ruffnut asked. "He means not killed or kidnapped." I translated so she could understand. Snotlout approached us while shaking the snow off his body and asked, "I have a question, Hiccup." "Nothing new there." I say gaining the Twins amusement. "What exactly is your plan to get a Snow Wraith tooth? Take it out of one of our dead bodies?" He asked sarcastically. "If all goes well, it'll be Ruffnut's dead body. And the Wraith tooth." Tuffnut says optimistically while Ruffnut glares at her brother. "Hold up everybody. Gothi wants to tell us something." I say when Gothi started writing the ground. Fishlegs translated for us. "She says we should've left when we had the chance." He says before a distant roaring was heard and everyone looked around.
"I don't know about the Snow Wraith but the shifter won't allow us to leave. We harmed his dragon which I can guess is his bond brother." I say when everyone turned to me. "Bond brother? Isn't that the same with you and Toothless?" Astrid asked. "Yes, according to Wolf, Shifters almost always have bond siblings who are their companions. A shifter goes alone usually but if accompanied by a dragon they are similar to…" I left the sentence open for anyone to finish. "They are bond siblings." Hiccup finished with a nod. "So what does that mean?" Snotlout asked again. "It means that the white shifter will come back again. Knowing by my personal experience and Wolf's knowledge, shifters are vengeful when a family member is hurt by those harming them." "Just like you were when Alvin once captured Hiccup and Toothless." Fishlegs says as I nod. "He'll be back. And this time he'll be more aggressive." I say as the roaring continues in the distant.
'Those intruders have hurt Snow! They will pay for coming here!' I growled mentally to my half. 'Can you blame them? We have attacked first.' My half spoke as I treated Snow's minor wounds. The night fury held back his blasts. Thank the goddess. 'Perhaps but you heard the skinny blond male intruder. They are here to hunt Snow.' I growled as I finish my bond brother's wounds getting a lick of appreciation. 'For what reason though? They have dragons and a shifter who you have fought. There was no ounce of the Dark Flame in him. Shifters are protectors of dragons, not hunters.' My half reasoned with me and it got me thinking.
He is right. The night fury shifter did not have the energy of a dark shifter but a pure hearted alpha. What could his reason be to join with those other humans? My thoughts were interrupted by my bond brother. "Those intruders will pay for doing this to me." He growled causing me to pet his snout. "Don't worry, Snow. We'll get these humans off our island." I comforted as he purred to my touch. We shall see if these intruders' intentions for Snow are good or not.
"Okay, that thing was gnarly." Snotlout says as everybody was grouped up with the dragons surrounding us. "Astrid, are you okay?" Hiccup asked her as I massaged her shoulders. "Yep, barely. But this massage is helpful." She says as I smirked. "Glad to assist."I say as Toothless snickered. "What?" I growled as he laughs. "Nothing. You sure that…" "Astrid is Hiccup's girl." I crooned in annoyance as he snorts a laughter. "Hiccup, you know I want a shot this as badly as you, but maybe we should get out of here. We're just sitting ducks in this storm." Fishlegs says and Hiccup seemed to gain an idea. "W-Wait a minute. What did you just say?" He asked wanting to confirm his idea. "He said we're sitting ducks. And for once, I agree with him." Snotlout says crossing his arms as I snort. "Snotlout agreeing with Fishlegs? Has the world ended?" I joked as Hookfang laughs. "Shut it Matt!" Snotlout steamed as Hiccup turned to a snowbank.
"Sitting ducks. Yes, yes! Yes, that's exactly what we need to be." Hiccup says as I looked at him strangely. "Did the dragon or shifter hit you in the head?" I asked bewildered at him with Astrid nodding in agreement. "What if we could make the Snow Wraith think it see us when we're not here?" Hiccup continued and I started to realize his plan. "The heat." I murmured as Tuffnut spoke. "You can make yourself invisible? Why dodes he get to do all the cool stuff like Matt? It's his thing, turning into shadow and blending in. I just have to sit here with you as a sister." He says to his sisters as Snotlout spoke to them. "Will you two be quiet for ten seconds." Snotlout says annoyed. "Tuff's not that far ahead." I say as everyone turned to me confused except Hiccup. "Excuse me?" Astrid says as I started to explain.
"There is no way that the Snow Wraith can see us in the storm and why it couldn't find Snotlout when he landed in the snow bank. It sees our heat like me and my brother can see through sound which is the reason why Gothi wasn't found all those years ago." "What about the shifter? What's his reason?" Fishlegs asked as I continued my explanation. "Every shifter has dragon abilities similar to the dragons they are similar to. For example, I gained my echolocation from my brother's species. Another example is a whispering death shifter having the similarities of the dragon they are similar to, including their eyesight." "The shifter has thermal vision as well which is the reason why he ignored Gothi and didn't attack Snotlout when his dragon couldn't find him. Amazing." Fishlegs says in awe as I nod.
"We'll use this to our advantage to confuse them. Then, while they're distracted, we'll net it and get that tooth." Hiccup says confidently as Astrid turns to him suspicious. "And you're sure it will work?" She asked as Hiccup didn't look confident in his own plan. "Uhh…" I rubbed my head. "Of course not. And its going to be extra tricky to catch the shifter as well. We shifters are adaptive so this is a one time thing." I say as Snotlout stared at Hiccup like he's judging him. "I hate you. You know that?" "Yes, I am aware of that." Hiccup says. "Nothing new there, Snotlout." I added with a snort. "Lets get to work. Let's hope Hiccup's plan will work." Wolf said in my mind.
Soon we constructed multiple dummies of ourselves and hid in a cave. There was a Fishlegs dummy, an Astrid dummy, the Twins dummies, a Hiccup dummy, a Snotlout dummy, and a very handsome dummy. Me. "That's really good, Hiccup. I like my personal dummy. Look at that smile!" I laughed earning an amuse chuckle from Wolf and Toothless. "Pretty good. Now, If I'm right, when we light these on fire, the Snow Wraith and shifter will think they're us and attacked. Then we'll have the drop on them." Hiccup says as I nod. "Shifters are rarely surprised and ambushed because of their spirit half's warning them, which is why I'm going to focused my Alpha abilities to block their communications from each other. Aren't you so glad I'm an Alpha?" I cheered earning a little scratch from Astrid. "We're glad, Matt." I know being scratched in my human form is embarrassing but who cares.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Snotlout interrupted us, stopping Astrid from scratching me which I whined. "Look at how realistically gorgeous my statue is." I turned to the statue in question. "I can't in good conscience send that into flames." Snotlout says before the head of the dummy is blown away by the wind. "Aah!" Snotlout gasped as I laughed. "I'll work through the pain and do it for you." Astrid says. "Wow, you'd do that for me, Astrid?" He flirted as I let my tongue out in disgust as Astrid rolls her eyes. "All right, Toothless, Matt, light 'em up." Hiccup said as Toothless nodded. "Lets cook some fire… dummies? I should probably make some other joke." Toothless crooned as we bring the dummies on fire. "Let me do the jokes. That was just terrible." I growled playfully as he stuck his tongue out.
Snotlout takes his helmet off and puts it at his chest. "Somewhere in the world, a silent tear was just cried." He says emotionally. "May there sacrifice not be in vain." I replied forming a fist and put in on my chest in a salute. "Dramatic much?" Tuffnut asked and I made a goofy smile. "Maybe." I replied chuckling. Fishlegs soon asked Hiccup that this might not work. "Hiccup, I don't know if this…" "Wait, look!" I yelled pointing at the Snow Wraith… theirs two. Shifter must be in dragon form. "Okay, next time it goes in, we go." Hiccup says as one of the Snow Wraiths roars while destroying Snotlout's statue.
This made Snotlout angry. "Oh, no, you did not!" He said angrily as Hookfang lights up his fire jacket. I felt something wet hit me on the head before a ice block hit me again and me and Toothless looked up to see the ice cracking. "Look out!" I warned as me and Toothless pushed Hiccup out of the way from the falling ice but we were outside the cave and the gang was still inside trapped.
"Thanks, guys." Hiccup thanked us before spotting one of the Snow Wraith's going towards my bond brother. "Toothless, look out!" Hiccup warned as the Snow Wraith swoops over us but I struck it and it disappeared in the storm. "If they can see our body heat, then we are way too easy a target out here." Hiccup says as we walk in the middle of the blazing statues. Hey, it's me! I look hot! No seriously, it's on fire! "This should even the odds a little. They won't be able to make us out within the heat of these fires. Do your thing, bud." Hiccup says as me and Toothless started echolocating to try to find the dragon and shifter.
I watched as the shifter changes into his night fury form and echolocates with his bond brother to try to find us. "Get behind them." I mentally growled to Snow as we landed behind them. The heat from the fires affected our vision but it was not hot enough to blind us from our true targets.
"Where are they?" I growled trying to locate them as Hiccup told us to continued to find them before I heard the snow being stepped behind us. We turned around and found the dragon and Shifter about to fire at us but then an unexpected surprise happened. It was Gothi! "Gothi!?" I said in shock as she quickly approached the Snow Wraiths and rapidly attacks them with her staff. One of the Snow Wraiths changed their form, revealing the Shifter, and grabbed ahold of Gothi staff with his claws. I charged and tackled him off of Gothi and punched him, only for my fist to be caught and he kicked me off of him.
Me and the Snow Wraith Shifter stared at one another with slitted eyes before my enemy commanded the wind to attack me but I teleported behind him and swung vertically downwards only for it to be countered by the shifter's staff. The Snow Wraith Shifter spinned his staff causing me to lose my balance but I backflipped when the enemy's staff was swung towards my head. Once I landed back on my feet, the Snow Wraith Shifter spinned his staff multiply times and turned his body for a full spinning swing but I ducked and sidekick his knee. The Snow Wraith Shifter got onto one knee and I went for a spinning kick but the Snow Wraith Shifter grabbed my leg and threw me several feet away. I got back up and caught my sword by the blade which barely stabbed me when the Snow Wraith Shifter threw it like a spear. He got back up but I noticed that he was leaning on his staff meaning I injured his knee enough for him to barely walk.
He was about to attack before a magnesium blast got between us and I looked to see my friends out of the cave. "Oh, yeah, that's right. Snotlout got us out of the snow." Snotlout cheered but Astrid put him down. "Yeah, and you're also the one that got us buried in it. To begin with." "Ah, details." He replied as we regrouped and surrounded the Snow Wraith and his shifter. "Okay, we have them surrounded. Let's get that tooth." Hiccup says before the shifter brung his staff down and stared at Hiccup in surprised. "What?" The Snow Wraith Shifter spoke in Norse for the first time to us. "You came here to our island. Hunting us. For a tooth?" He spoke bewildered.
Everyone was silent and Hiccup says, "Yessss." The Snow Shifter stares at us for awhile before bursting out laughing. "HAHAHAHA! A TOOTH!? HAHAHA!" We stood there in silence as he laughed before calming down. "Oh, I'm sorry. But a tooth? Hehe. You came here for a tooth." He giggled as I had my patience. "YES! WE CAME FOR A TOOTH! ANYTHING ELSE?" I roared as everybody covered their ears. "Wow. So that is what it feels like to feel an Alpha's power. You're a powerful one, young shifter." The Snow Wraith Shifter mused as I snorted. "Don't. Now are you going to give us the tooth or what?" I asked as he snort a laugh causing me to growl. "Sorry again. A tooth. We could of avoid this if you told me that you only came here for a tooth." He says as we blankly look at him. "You attacked us first." Hiccup says as the shifter shrugs. "The blond male said that you're here to hunt a Snow Wraith. Great misunderstanding and for that I apologize. You also trespassed on our home." He says as the Snow Wraith growls.
"And we are sorry but we needed the Snow Wraiths tooth for a key." Toothless crooned as the shifter froze. "A key? You have the Eye of Hunters?" He asked as we looked at him confused. "Eye of Hunters? You mean the Dragon eye?" Fishlegs asked as the Shifter tilted his head. "Dragon Eye? What an interesting name, but yes. The Dragon Eye once belonged to a group of hunters outside the archipelago. These hunters were vicious and hunted many dragons, including the Snow Wraith which its teeth were the key to the eye. One day, one of their ships which the Dragon Eye was on disappeared into the fog and not seen again. Until now." The Shifter explained as Hiccup got excited. "Then you know what it can do! What does it do!?" Hiccup said excitedly as the Shifter looks at him with serious eyes "Take my advice and destroy it. It can't fall into those that will harm the dragons. You have gotten your key. Now get off our island." He growls as he summons the storm to blind us as he and the dragon disappeared.
"We still don't have the tooth." You say as Hiccup quickly gets on Toothless. "Gang, we came here for a Snow Wraith tooth and…" Gothi interrupts Hiccup by tapping his shoulder. "Not now, Gothi. And we are not leaving…" Gothi taps his shoulder again and shows him her staff which had a tooth on it. "Gothi! Without…" Hiccup then noticed the tooth. "Oh. Oh, a tooth. A tooth!" He says observing it. "Great! We have it! Now let's get back to Berk. It's freezing out here!" I shivered as everyone laughed at my expense.
Soon we were back to Berk and at Gobber's smithy. "So, Gobber, how was it being Gothi?" Hiccup asked Gobber as I snorted. "Probably terrible." I said knowing that he messed up somehow. "Well, I didn't get to wallop anybody with my staff, but…" Gobber was interrupted when a Viking, Agnar came running towards him. "Gobber! Gobber! I must have more of that potion you made me earlier." He says as Gobber smiled. "So, it cured your stomach ailments, did it?" Gobber asked but then Agnar started hacking and threw up on the ground. "Nasty!" I say grossed out stepping away a bit. "Far from it! But it cured something else." He then take off his helmet and revealed a line of hair. "It's made my hair grow back!" He says cheerfully.
Snotlout went to congratulate him and patted him on the back. "Congrats, Agnar. You look so…" Agnar then threw up in his helmet. "...good." Snotlout finished as Gobber says, "Well, at least you got only one of the side effects." Gobber says before Agnar looked embarrassed and then I smelt it. "Oh Noctis! That's terrible! I can't breathe!" I yelled as the disgusting smell overruns my senses. Why am I sometimes cursed with the nose of a dragon!? Hiccup coughs and then speaks with Gobber. "Well, Gobber, just whip up some more of that potion for him." Hiccup says as I shake my head holding my nose. "NO! That potion is now my worst enemy! The side effects are nasty! Blegh!" I say while covering my nose in disgust. "Uh, well, it was very complicated, and I'm retired. Gothi, why don't you take this one?" Gobber says as Gothi hit him with her stick before walking away with Agnar.
We turned back to Gobber. "You really have no idea what was in that potion, do you?" Hiccup guessed as I snorted. "Wouldn't be surprising." "No, not a drop. But here's your key." Gobber confirmed before handing us the Snow Wraith tooth. Hiccup takes the Snow Wraith tooth and fits it into the keyhole before turning. We observed it and nothing happened. "We almost died… for this?" Wolf growled in Norse, out of my body for a little walk. "No, There's gotta be more to it than this. It just doesn't make any sense." Hiccup says turning some gears to try to make the Dragon Eye do something. "Welcome to my world, brother. Nothing makes sense when your a shifter." I say disappointed about the Dragon Eye. "And you got itchy teeth." Tuffnut added, itching his teeth with his fingers. "At least we found a new dragon species." Fishlegs says optimistically. "We also found out there is Matt's kind out there as well. What was it like to meet the first shifter anyway?" Astrid asked me as I shrugged. "Technically it's my second. The Dark Shifter was the first one I met. It was nice to know I'm not alone being a shifter." I say before yawning. "I'm going to bed early. Night guys." I said before Wolf merged with me and I changed into my night fury and flew back to my home.
I was still resting but I sometimes open my eyes to glance at Hiccup who was still trying to unlock the Dragon Eye but soon gave up. "All right. *Yawn*. That's it, I'm calling it a night. Maybe tomorrow. Fresh eyes." Hiccup yawned as Toothless goes next to me and fires up his side of the stone slab as I did the same. Hiccup notices the Dragon Eye projecting a faint purple glow and looks at the two of us while we continued heating our stone slab. "Toothless, Matt, come here." Hiccup says as we get up as I yawned. "This better be good Hiccup. " I growled tiredly as Hiccup sets the Dragon Eye in front of us. "Do that again, guys. Give me a low flame." He says as we turned to each other. I shrugged as we both breathe a low flame into the Dragon Eye and unexpectedly it projects maps onto the wall. "Whoa." I say in awe. 'You said it.' Wolf purred. "This changes… everything." Hiccup says in awe. "I sensed a great adventure in our future." I added with a smile. This does change everything. And adventure is around the corner.
Alright everybody, I made my promise to continue to do a few pages a day and now we have another chapter in the Nightshift series or arc or whatever! Hiccup and Matt have found out about the Dragon Eye's secrets! What adventures await them and their friends? I guess we'll see in the next chapter! Goodbye dragon riders!
