The Wedding Alliance

It had been nearly four months since Ginny had asked Hermione to be her maid of honour. Hermione wholeheartedly accepted to which Ginny smiled mischievously "No take-backsies, because I need your help."

Hermione had assured Ginny she would love to help Ginny plan, to which Ginny had informed her that the wedding day was in four months. Hermione blinked a commendable number of times in the next few seconds but expressed her support, nonetheless.

One week later, Ginny informed Hermione of the identity of the best man. Hermione stated that she was okay with anyone being the best man. She knew Theodore Nott was the best friend of Blaise Zabini (the groom), so she logically assumed he would be the best man. Never once had she seriously expected him to choose Draco Malfoy.

Ginny explained that Draco Malfoy was chosen as best man because of his connections but also to give him something to do other than working incredibly hard as a potioneer for St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Hermione had dreaded teaming up with Malfoy but after the initial shock wore off, it was quite pleasant. To Hermione's utter surprise, Malfoy had been incredibly apologetic, insightful, and to top it all off, incredibly open and honest. After a good talk that lasted well into the small hours, they had vouched to do right by Ginny and Blaise and give them the best wedding possible. Funny enough, Hermione and Malfoy shared a lot of the same tastes, whereas Ginny and Blaise wanted the exact opposite. Time had flown by planning the wedding and now the big day was upon them!

Ginny looked stunning in a very tight-fitting dress, showing off her quidditch muscles (and bruises).

Hermione checked the ring box once again in her bouquet and straightened her shoulders. She bid Mr Weasley and Ginny goodbye and walked down the aisle in the palace of Manchester, with whom Ginny's quidditch club had an alliance.

The room was more like a hall, which came in handy as so many people needed to fit in. Ginny's family was enormous of course and it was evident that Blaise's was too. Malfoy had told Hermione that Blaise's mother was married five times and all those families were invited too.

Blaise smiled broadly at Hermione when she walked down the aisle, and she smiled back. Her eyes darted to Malfoy's, who inconspicuously gave her a thumbs up, letting her know that he'd solved a minor hiccup with the groom's suit that had occurred earlier. Hermione took her place opposite Malfoy and watched the entrance of the room.

Mr. Weasley and Ginny entered and contrary to most guests' expectations, Ginny did not smile friendly and modestly like all brides would do. Instead, she smirked defiantly with a playful twinkle in her eyes. Mr Weasley looked proud either way and when they arrived at the front, the ceremony man, George Weasley gestured for everyone to sit down. When Ginny's hand was placed into Blaise's hand, he started to speak, "These people decided to get married and requested I make this short. Now, the bride and groom did not want to exchange vows. So, I'll skip to the good part. Blaise, do you take Ginny to be your wife?"

"Yes."

"Ginny, do you take Blaise to be your husband?"

"Yes."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

They kissed each other and Ginny jumped into Blaise's arms. They kissed passionately bordering on inappropriate, and George took the word once again, "Blaise, I hope you can have enough fun with Ginny for the rest of your life. I am happy to say that I am confident you can handle her at least. And remember, if she says one word, we're coming for ya!" George now turned to the crowd and yelled, "Happy partying, people!"

George pulled his wand out of his robes, flicked it and music started playing. Ginny and Blaise were dancing down the aisle and everyone else followed suit. Malfoy and Hermione left last, together, and both smiled in amazement at their friends.

Malfoy shook his head and said humorously, "My mother would never allow this."

"Neither would mine," Hermione agreed, smiling.

Malfoy grabbed Hermione's arms gently, "Do you think we'll ever get married?"

She looked into his eyes, surprised, wondering if he meant them together, or them in general. Regardless, her answer was: "I hope so."

Later that evening, Blaise and Ginny arrived at their honeymoon destination, the Poconos, after a short international floo journey. "So, what did Theo have to say?" Ginny asked.

"He was completely for the idea. Loved it," Blaise said whilst unpacking his suitcase with a single flick of his wand.

"It did look like it had worked. I mean, they were totally bonding over how they would do their wedding differently. Malfoy showed Hermione that he can be very respectful and can handle her bossiness. Also, I paid a few good actors to tell either of them, when they were apart from each other, that they would match perfectly."

"So, the incredible short guy with grey hair and a purple-dotted suit?"

Ginny nodded, "Uhuh. Paid actor."

"Do you really want to waste your money on this? I mean, I know playing professional pays well, but…-"

"Listen, she saved my brother's life more than once. She deserves someone who cares for her and is an equal from an intellectual perspective. And Godric knows that those people are scarce. Besides, I know he's changed, and he's a good person."

"Good. Also, I told him that we would tell everyone that we're using him for his connections. He seemed to like it as he doesn't want people to think he has a heart."

Ginny grinned whilst shaking her head, "Slytherins."

"Hey!" Blaise said, acting offended.

"Oh posh, you love the stigmas," she teased.

"You got me," Blaise replied.

Ginny smiled at her husband and nodded. All was well.
